Chapter 7 – Gifts and Gratitude

"You didn't need to purchase all this for me. I mean thank you Harry." she leaned in a kissed him on his cheek. "You really are very different than I expected. I'm glad I got to know you."

"I would agree. I have enjoyed getting to know the ice princess of Slytherin." Harry smiled as Daphne smirked back. She then reached out and gave his arm a gentle smack. Harry laughed at that one.

"Good night Daphne. Sweet dreams" Harry said.

"Good Night Harry. Sweet dreams to you too."

Harry woke the next morning with the breeze fluttering the curtains and the smell of the ocean air coming in his room. He tried to get up and realized that something heavy was on his chest. Looking down he could see a tangle of messy blond hair and a head using his chest as a pillow. He must have jumped as the owner of the hair opened her blue eyes and looked up at Harry. When she realized where she was she jumped up.

She had on her night clothes and had a blanket over her. Harry was under the covers so they hadn't been actually sharing a bed.

"What's going on?" Daphne asked. More startled than mad. Harry was looking wildly around the room wondering the same thing.

"Not sure. I was having a nightmare then it all went away. What do you remember?"

Her eyes opened wide. "Dobby." She said.

"Yes. Mistress Greenie." The hyper elf was sometimes hard to handle first thing in the morning.

"How did I get here?" Daphne asked. Dobby looked scared and started pulling at his ears. Daphne had seen him do this before and stopped him. "I'm not mad I just really need to know. Last night is a little blurry."

"Master Harry be having bad bad dreams. Hes calls Cedrics names and then yous name. Dobby checks with yous elf and she says you nightmare too. We gets yous here and when yous snuggle boths bad dreams go aways. Yous sleep much betters." Dobby explained as Tinks Daphne's elf popped in.

"Mistress Daphne. Tinks sorry. You have bad night. Yous wakes early then normals."

"Daphne. I think our elves did good. I don't know about you but that was a brilliant nights sleep." Harry said. Daphne looked at Harry and then to each of the elves. She finally had to agree.

"Master and mistress. Wes not ask to move so wes understand if there be punishments for us." Dobby said as Tinks nodded in agreement with downcast eyes. Daphne looked at Harry and she smiled a wicked smile.

"Yes. I suppose there should be punishment. I'm going to get back in bed here and go back to sleep for a while. When we both wake again I expect our usual breakfasts on our laps so we can have breakfast in bed. That will be your punishment." Daphne said. Harry was trying not to laugh out loud as the two elves tried not to smile. They both nodded, bowed and popped away.

Harry pulled back the covers and patted the bed. Daphne slipped under the covers and under his arm and put her head on his chest. "You make a nice pillow Harry." And they both nodded off.

After breakfast Dobby had taken Daphne to a room next to Harrys with it's own en suite and left. After Daphne had showered and was ready to dress she found a sun dress she had never seen on the bed waiting for her, complete with everything she needed including white trainers and shorty socks.

She found Harry on the back porch enjoying the morning. It was a perfect morning. The temperature was moderate with a light breeze. Harry turned when she walked out.

"That looks very nice on you." Harry said. Daphne was always guarded when boys would compliment her. Most Slytherin only wanted something. She could see it was just Harry being Harry.

"Thank you. Am I to understand you picked this out for me?" She asked. Ever the clueless Harry just shook his head no.

"It isn't yours?"

"No. It was waiting for me on the bed." She said.

"Huh? Dobby?" The excited elf popped in.

"Yes, Master Harry."

"Where did Miss Daphnes dress come from?" He asked. Dobby looked crestfallen and a little scared.

"Dobby sees you and miss seeing in window. I hear you say you like. Dobby tell Tinks. Tinks not be ables to make. Dobby disguise selfs get dress."

"Dobby. Did you pay for it?" Harry asked. The elf looked like he was going to cry now as he nodded.

"Dobby not have enough so I is taking from you money bag. I work it off I promise. Dobby just wanted something nice for you two after bad night." Dobby started to dry big fat tears. He was going to tell his master later about the money.

Harry got off the sofa and knelt down to the elf and pulled him in for a hug. Whispering in his ear but loud enough for Daphne to hear he said. "You did good and you are to take all the money you spent from my bag. As long as it's not very expensive, like a car expensive, you can do that to keep the house as you think I would like it. Plus Daphne really looks good in that dress so good job."

The blushing elf popped out. Daphne looked at Harry.

"You know some owners would have punished their elf for taking money without asking." she said. She was testing Harry with this one to see what he would say.

"I'm not some owners. I consider Dobby to be family. Would you punish Astoria if she had done that?" Harry asked and then seeing the look on Daphnes face changed his mind. "How about if your child had taken some money to get you a chocolate frog?" That did it. She started laughing.

"You know if Torie took my money I would punish her just for the fun of it. My child. Well, you got that one right." She looked down at the dress and shoes again. "He really did a good job and I really do love it. Thank you." Her smile light up her face and Harry was smiling with her.

"You are very welcome Mistress Greenie." Harry said with a smile. Daphne couldn't help herself and she laughed.

"You are in so much trouble master Harry." Daphne said as she sat beside him and leaned her head on his shoulder. She realized she was falling for this goofy Gryffindor. She didn't know that the same thoughts were flitting through that goofy Gryffindors mind right about that time too. They both just relaxed again in a companionable silence.

They had sat there for over and hour just relaxing with each other. Each hating the idea of breaking the enchantment on the morning until Harry finally spoke.

"Would you like to see some more of my families magic?" Harry asked to the head on his shoulder. This caused Daphne to sit up and look deeply into those emerald eyes of his.

"You know if you share any more family magic you will have to marry me." Daphne smirked at Harry.

"Would that be so bad?" Harry shot back to a surprised Daphne. She shook her head still looking at him and surprised at the response.

"No. I don't suppose it would." She finally said. The shocked look on Harrys face caused Daphne to laugh. "You would definitely be a step up from Malfoy."

Harrys lips curled and then he started laughing. Daphne joined him hugging him tightly. Trying to derail the subject Daphne ventured. "What family magic do you want to show me?"

Harry called Dobby and arranged for work clothes for them both. They changed and took Dobbys hand and Harry found himself back in that same gravel pit.

"Dobby please check for anyone." Harry said. Dobby popped away and back..

"We be alone for miles Master Harry. May I makes mistress Greenie comfortable?" Dobby asked.

Harry nodded and a large umbrella, chairs and table with snacks and a large water pitcher arrived. Daphne went and sat down and waited. She knew that magic takes intent and concentration and didn't want to interrupt Harry.

Harry walked over as well and took off his trainers and socks. He was standing there bare foot in ripped jeans and an old tee shirt. Daphne had been given jeans and a twisted sister tee.

"Bare foot?" she had to ask.

"I need to feel the ground to work this one. It takes a lot more magic. You'll see." he said and stepped away from her. Smiling he closed his eyes and turned around until he could see what he wanted. Daphne had closed her eyes and tried to see what he had but it just looked like a blob under the earth. It was kind of deep and she wondered if Harry was going to go that far.

Opening her eyes she saw Harry walked that way and stopping just short of the blob below. Harry turned to her and grinning as he winked he stepped into the dirt like it was a set of stairs until he was underground.

"Harry!" she called out as took that last step and disappeared under the ground. There was even a little ripple for a few feet around the spot and then it calmed and looked like solid ground again. She closed her eyes and could see him swimming down to the blob fifteen feet below. Wrapping his arms around it he kicked his feet and started towards the surface. Daphne opened her eyes as he broke the surface and just started rising like an underground elevator was pushing him up. He had an arm load of dirt.

"What's that?" she asked.

"Clay. I want to make you something." Harry smirked as he released the clay and it floated in front of him. Daphne was amazed that none of the dirt or clay was on Harry or his clothes.

Holding his hands wide he waved towards the little pond and a spout of water joined the clay and it started folding itself and stretching. Over and over it did this as new water was added and dirty water dripped away. Finally Harry was satisfied and waved his arms down and the clay lowered to the ground.

Harry joined Daphne under the umbrella and took the water glass and downed it and another before he spoke.

"That's almost more difficult than the rest will be. Swimming under ground is kind of cool now that I'm getting used to it. The first time was terrifying. You should try it sometime." Harry ended with a wink.

"Not without a swimming buddy." she said.

Harry walked back to the clay and looked it over. Rubbing his hands together he held his palms over the clay from about shoulder height. Part of the clay broke off and floated up to be eye level with Harry. Turning his hands in the clay started to turn slowly around and around. Water was waved in and Harrys hands seemed to be shaping the clay without ever touching it. Daphne watched in fascination as the lump formed into a ball then opened on the top and shaped into a round pot. Harry stopped it when it was about eight inches around. Waving some clay up and it formed a skinny tube and then opened wider at one end. That was added to the pot and Daphne could see what it would be. Harry worked for another five minutes and a perfect clay tea pot was floating in mid air in front of him.

Harry waved it over and it landed gently on the ground a few feet away from the remaining clay. Waving at the clay four lumps floated up and in front of him. They spun slowly and in a short time four perfect tea cups with handles and saucers had joined the tea pot. Harry took another break.

Sitting he drank another two glasses of water. Dobby had added some sandwiches on a plate and he offered them to Daphne. She took one and Harry ate the rest from the plate. She chuckled as he inhaled the food.

"Hungry?"

"I've found that doing this much magic really makes me ravenous. Dobby makes sure I eat enough. So, what's your favorite colors?" Harry asked.

She was about to give the standard Slytherin answer but stopped. "I really like spring pastel colors. Like the dress your wonderful elf got me." Harry smiled. He would have used Slytherin colors if she had said so. He nodded and went back to work.

Thinking about the pattern on the dress and colors Harry concentrated while pointing at the tea set and while waving a single finger the pattern and colors covered the set. Light yellows, pinks, and purples in little flowers with green vines wrapped around the freshly formed clay. Satisfied with the painting Harry waved his hands to levitate the tea set into the air.

"Please don't come any closer. This is going to get very hot. Just remember I've done this before and I will be fine." Harry said to Daphne. She nodded and stayed in her seat.

Harry waved again and a ball of fire surrounded the tea set obscuring it from view. Daphne yelped in shock. This caused the tea set to waver before Harry got his concentration back.

"I'm fine Harry. Just surprised me that's all. I'm sorry." Harry nodded and continued. The heat was yellow hot for a full minute. In that time the water was baked out so he could turn up the heat. The heat intensified as the color of the fiery ball changed until it was white hot. This was hot enough that Daphne backed farther away. Harry kept the heat up until he could tell it was cured and ready to cool off.

Waving his hands again the tea set slowly lowered towards the ground. Harry waved his right hand and brought in a cooling wind that swirled all over the pottery until it was cool to the touch. Daphne's touch that is not Harrys.

Daphne had approached as the heat receded and looked at the beautiful tea set in front of her. She started to reach for it and then noticed Harry was wobbling a little. Grabbing Harrys arm she guided him back to his seat and put the water glass in his hands. He was still to shaky to hold it without spilling so she helped him put the glass to his lips and drink. With each sip she could see him getting stronger until he could hold the glass himself. She reluctantly let go. There was something about helping him that felt comfortable.

She sat and picked up a sandwich and held it so Harry would take a bite. He swallowed and she could tell he was starting to feel better. He didn't reach up for the sandwich just letting her feed him. After the first sandwich and more water, Daphne let Harry continue eating on his own. When he was no longer in danger of falling over Daphne looked at the tea set.

"It's beautiful Harry. My mother will be so jealous when I have such a nice tea set." She said. Harry looked a little worried when she said that.

"Should I make one for her too?" Harry asked a little too quickly. This had Daphne laughing.

"No silly. Unless you really want to or maybe for Yule. I just know she will appreciate your work. It's as nice as any set we have at home. Thank you so much."

Harry nodded. "You are very welcome. I'm sorry if I interpret family dynamics wrong. My relatives weren't very nice. I never received any presents and really don't understand how that all works."

This shocked Daphne. "None? That's barbaric." Harry shrugged. It was one of his endearing yet annoying traits that she was coming to love about him.

Shortly Harry was feeling better and he had an idea. "Daphne, Would it be ok if I made something for your mother? I've never tried this before so if it doesn't work we don't have to tell her." Harry looked sheepishly at her. She smiled at him. She could see he was trying but not sure about how families worked.

"I'm sure she would love it, as would everyone else, including my father." Harry sagged a little in relief. He had guessed right. Nodding he stood.

"You need to stay back like before. This will get very hot. Dobby." Harry called as the little elf popped in beside Daphne. "Please protect Daphne and yourself." The little elf hit Daphnes nose with his ears he was shaking his head yes so hard. This caused her to laugh and Dobby to blush.

Harry looked around both with his eyes and his sight. Finding what he wanted he closed his eyes and waved his hands. Daphne was amazed when broken glass from bottles lifted into the air and floated towards Harry. They all congregated in front of him floating about waist high and slowly turned around. Like Harry had seen his ancestor do from the memories. Turning his hands he flexed his finger in a crushing movement. The glass all ground itself down into colored sand. Still floating the sand moved together by color until there was five floating groups each a different color. Moving his hands again the ball of fire surrounded the sand and obscured it from view.

Daphne moved her gaze from the fire to Harry as he mentally worked the fire and glass. He was concentrating so hard he lost his grasp on himself and started to sink a little into the ground. He was about ankle deep when he stopped. She looked at the fire and could see the colors moving within the sphere. Harry was moving his hands like he was shaping the glass. His fingers pinched and pulled and she could see the glass inside move in response to his hands. He continued this for a while making pinching and pulling. Then he swirled one finger and with a pinch and pull made a longer piece of glass.

Satisfied Harry moved his hands back to their normal position and the sphere got hotter and Daphne could no longer see inside the ball of fire. Harry concentrated for a solid minute and she could see beads of sweat forming on his brow, plastering his fringe to his skin. Then he eased up and the flames vanished.

Hanging in midair in front of Harry was a perfect daffodil made of glass. It looked like it could be put in her mothers garden and be at home. It almost brought a tear to the Slytherin girl eye.

"Harry, it's beautiful." as she moved forward to hold the flower. Dobby put a barrier between Daphne and the flower at the same time Harry grabbed it out of her path. Daphne looked questioningly at Harry.

"Sorry and thank you Dobby. You can remove the barrier now." Dobby did but stood ready.

"Let me show you why." Harry walked over to a scrap of paper and set the flower on the paper. It burst into flames and was consumed in seconds. The shock in Daphnes eyes was evident.

"How can you hold it?" she finally asked. Very glad that both of the them had protected her.

"Family magics. I can hold items that would burn anyone else. I have to be careful. I'm sorry I hadn't cooled it yet." Harry looked at the glass glowing in his hands and gently blew against it. He could feel the heat leaving until it was safe. He then handed it to Daphne who took it cautiously. It was a little warm but not painful. She looked it over.

"My mother will love this. Especially since it is because of this flower I get my name. Thank you." She kissed Harry on the cheek.

"Huh. I always liked daffodils but my aunt didn't. She preferred roses. Probably because they had thorns. I saw them in your gardens and since there was such a large patch of them I figured your mother must like them." Harry said.

"Yes, my mother loves them and she will love this in the winter when they are all gone."

Harry sat back down and drank more water and another sandwich. He leaned his head back and closed his eyes for a few minutes just relaxing and listening to the nature around him. Daphne sat beside him and did the same. As she was listening with her eyes closed her inside eye opened up and she could see all around her like when Harry had been holding her hand. This was the first time it had happened on

it's own. She gasped. Both Harry and Dobby were instantly on guard and looking for trouble. Her eyes opened quickly to see the pair back to back with their sides to her, scanning the surrounding area.

"Sorry." They looked at her questioningly. "I was startled when I could see the world like you do Harry. I usually have to try extremely hard or be touching you."

Harry nodded. "It will probably happen more frequently for a while and then it will be almost totally under your control. At least that is what happened to me." He explained as he gave Dobby a nod and sat back down. "Does get the old blood pumping." Harry chuckled trying to lighten the mood.

Daphne smiled at this and nodded. "Didn't want you to fall asleep on me." Harry liked it when she joked around.

"No. It seems that you usually fall asleep on me." pushing right back which got him a light smack on his arm and a deep blush covering her cheeks. They rested for a while before heading back. Dobby first dropped off the tea set and flower in Daphnes room at her house.

Later that afternoon they were walking along the beach this time holding hands. Daphne claimed she wanted to see like Harry did but really she enjoyed holding his hand. Harry had looked at her like he knew but just reached out. This was new to both of them. Neither would have thought at the beginning of this journey that they would be as they are now.

"Harry, Mom and Torie will be home in a little while."

"Oh, You need to go?" Harry asked a little sadly.

"Actually I was wondering if maybe we could get fish and chips take away and let them try it? I know Torie will love trying it and mom is more open to new things then my dad." She watched the wheels turning in Harrys head as he came to a decision. He liked her family and as much as he hadn't seen her mother or sister that much they had been very inviting to him.

"Sure. I can watch as you give Torie the pens and notebooks. The surprise on your face was priceless when the pen actually wrote in color. I wonder if that is a family trait like family magic." Harry quipped which Daphne responded by giving him a hip bump. As Harry fell to the side he decided to tease her and fell right into the ground leaving only his hand above ground and moving his fingers like he was in distress. Daphne looked at the hand and laughed.

"Not this time Potter." She said stepping away. The hand made a wave good bye and slid under the ground. This caused Daphne to look around frantically. Potter under ground and she was his only target. She thought about running but had no idea how fast he could move. Her moment of indecision was resolved when two hands reached out of the ground and grabbing her ankles pulled her down to her waist. Unfortunately she had pushed against the ground with her hands and they were trapped underground too.

Harry rose up to look her in the eyes, both half buried in the sand. "Nice try Greengrass." with his signature smirk.

"Ok. You win Potter. Let me out." Daphne said resignedly. She hated to give up but she knew this was his realm and both her hands were stuck with the rest of her. All she could do was move her head.

"Try. If you can see it you can do it." Harry said. The glare coming from her would have caused most sane men to start running and never stop. To Harry it was like they were training again only this time he was the professor. He watched as she closed her eyes and judging by the look on her face she could see everything. Then she slipped and started sinking.

"Think about stairs. Make the ground stairs you can walkup." Harry said, ready to grab her arm or even her head if necessary. The first step was only a little bit. Then she sank back down the same amount. "That was a good start. You had it just don't let the image go. Stand on each step before you make the next one"

It took about two minutes but she managed to finally walk on solid ground again. Opening her eyes she looked around only to find those emerald eyes looking back at her. That look gave her a shiver deep in her chest.

"I did it." She almost screamed and jumped into Harrys arms. He caught her and spun her around. She actually laughed out loud at that. When he finally set her down she leaned in to give his cheek a kiss just as he turned to say something. Their lips met. Both eyes opened wide with their lips touching ever so gently. They pulled back. Harry was about to say something stupid she was sure so Daphne pulled on her Gryffindor courage and wrapped him in for a proper kiss. He was startled and then relaxed and then returned it with equal fire.

Finally pulling away they rested their foreheads against each other slightly out of breath.

"That happened." Daphne said.

"Yeah. Umm." Harry started.

"Don't say anything yet. Please." Daphne stopped him. He nodded not moving away. Daphne turned her head up and found his lips again. They kissed again and the same passion and heat was still there and growing. Parting finally she said "Yup. That was amazing."

Harry kissed her lips again. Gently and without all the passion but tenderly.

"I would totally agree."

Walking back to the house holding hands they both realized something had happened. It had been growing since their first lesson but neither had wanted to say anything.

Later they had cleaned up and sent word to her mother and sister that they would bring dinner, they prepared to leave the house. Dobby once again provided Harry with his muggle wallet and popped them to the same spot. As their noses were leading them back to the same shop Harry got that tingly feeling that something wasn't right. Daphne noticed the tension in the arm she was holding and squeezed it.

"Something not right." Harry whispered.

"Don't use the family magic unless you can't avoid it." Daphne said while squeezing his arm.

As they approached an alley a poke in Harrys back got his full attention.

"Into the alley quietly boy." an unknown male voice said. Harry turned Daphne into the alley and they continued walking. "Stop. Turn around."

Harry turned them without releasing Daphnes hand from his. "What do you want?" Harry took the initiative.

"You boy. My master will reward me greatly for bringing you." the greasy man said. The unkept man looked like some of the bums that would hang around the grimy strip malls. Like someone that could go missing for many reasons and it would take people a while to figure out they were actually missing.

"Look. I can make you a better offer? How much will he pay you? I'll double it." Harry offered. This surprised Daphne but she kept quiet. Not sure what Harry was thinking she didn't want to get in his way. She was also trying to figure out how to get to her wand without the grimy man noticing. She would put him down hard if she got the chance.

Harry watched the man think about that. His wand wavered and pointed away from the couple as he thought. That was what Harry was waiting for. He closed his eyes and let loose with all the magic he had been building.

Later they would watch this in her fathers pensieve. The wall of heat surrounded the man. It was so intense his wand burned away in a flash before he could even return its point towards the couple. He tried to scream but couldn't as he inhaled flames and the heat burned his throat and vocal cords. Harry was so mad he had started the kiln spell at full temperature. Along with Harrys family magic pushing the time element the man was reduced to ashes in under a minute. Harry ended the spell and pulled Daphne into his arms. Realizing he had just saved them both they clung together in the dirty alleyway.

"You did good Harry. You did very good. Thank you." Daphne said and kissed him. He knew he should feel bad about taking a life but all he saw was another obstacle. Something that needed to be removed so he and Daphne could live. Harry pulled away and waved his hands and the ash was distributed around the dirty alleyway. No one would notice a little more dirt.

"We should probably get you home." Harry said. Daphne nodded. Harry called Dobby and they were back a Greenfields in a moment and walked in the front door.

Torie came bounding in and seeing the couple skidded to a stop screaming for her mother.

Roxanne Greengrass came running into the hallway at full speed with her wand out and a spell forming on her lips. When she saw the state of the two teens she slowed down and approached them cautiously.

"What happened?" Roxanne said softly.

"We were found by a death eater or a supporter. He was threatening Harry." Daphne said softly. "We got away."

"What about the death eater?" Roxanne asked softly.

"He won't be telling anyone about us." Harry said. He had a far away look in his eyes but it was also burning anger there too. Roxanne nodded. She put her arms gently around the pair and walked them towards the kitchen.

After calming draughts had been consumed by everyone except Torie Roxanne asked again. "So what exactly happened?"

Harry started. "We were walking down a city street towards the food place when I started feeling like something was off. Before I could do anything a wand was poking me in my back and we were directed into an alley. Facing the man I tried to negotiate with him and offered him double what Voldermort would pay. This had him thinking for a moment and when his wand pointed away from us I attacked. He's gone."

"Just gone. What do you mean. Gone!" Torie screamed. "He had a wand on you and he's gone now."

"Astoria" Daphne said loudly, which stopped her sister. Daphne never used her full name unless she really needed to get her attention or she was in trouble.

"WHAT!" Astoria screamed back. Daphne held up her hand palms facing her little sister. Roxanne waited to see how Daphne would handle this.

"Listen to me. Harry is telling you everything that he can." That stopped the incoming rant from her little sister.

"Family magics?" Torie asked. Daphne and Harry both nodded. This got a huff from Torie that was so reminiscent of Daphne that Harry laughed. This had both Greengrass sisters snarling at him.

Still laughing Harry said "You two are so cute when you snarl like that. It's like a little kitten hissing." He reached out and hugged them both. "I'm just glad we are all here to see it." That had the desired effect and the two sisters realized it had been a close call and the war had just knocked on their door.

Cyrus arrived a few minutes later and found the group in the kitchen.

"Are you sure you are both ok?" he asked the couple still clinging to each other. They both nodded. Relieved he sat down.

"Would it be easier if we just look at the event in the pensieve?" Cyrus finally asked. He could see this event had taken a toll on the two. Yet, they seemed stronger together. Harry nodded and the group went to Cyrus's office. Torie was stopped at the door but Roxanne was allowed in.

"Harry like I said before what is said in this office stays in this office. Roxanne let me know the incident included family magic. Are you ok with Roxanne seeing that?"

"It's pretty brutal in what happened but I don't mind." turning to Roxanne "I was so scared for Daphne I may have over reacted. I would do anything to keep her safe." Roxanne had a lump in her throat at the intensity of his statement and she was sure he would. She could only nodded.

They all put their fingers in the glowing liquid of the pensieve and were pulled into the memory. Harry had a chance to see what happened in real time and it was over quickly. After the wave of Harrys hand they were all back in the office. There was an extended silence all through the room.

"Thank you Harry for keeping our daughter safe." Roxanne said. "May I ask what that spell was?" This was met with a thunderous look from Cyrus but Harry stepped in.

"It's ok Cyrus. It's a spell that is used to cure pottery. During the Black Death my family helped keep their village safe by burning the infected. Not pretty but it was effective. I had wondered how fast I could manage that spell and had tried with wood and again later on my Uncles arm." Harry said.

That got all of them looking at him with wide eyes.

"Harry, Is your uncle ok?" Daphne finally asked softly. Harry nodded.

"I only burned the wrist of the hand he had on my throat. He let go quickly." Harry smiled at that memory. "I started building the magic I needed as soon as I felt the wand. I knew we would need something and neither of us would be able to get to our wands. I guess it worked well enough."

Cyrus chuckled. "I would agree it worked well enough. I know that man that stopped you. He works for our competition. Not the most upstanding individual. You are right it will take a while before anyone will realized he is missing. Now what to do?" Harry shrugged.

"I'm sorry but I didn't get dinner." Harry said. Which caused Roxanne to laugh.

"Not worried about dinner, Harry. Are you two ok? This can be a real shock." Roxanne said.

Harry nodded. "I've had time this summer to do some thinking. After watching a death eater kill Cedric without a second thought and everything else I've had to deal with. Well. I feel like that man got what he deserved. Part of me feels like I should be sad that I took a life but in the end, We lived. That is the most important thing. Yup. Daphne was not hurt and we lived. I'm not going to feel bad about that decision. Honestly, it's been the easiest decision I've had to make all summer. Does that make me a bad person or going dark as Dumbledore would say?"

"No Harry. That makes you human and just you thinking you should feel bad is enough to tell me you aren't going dark. Answer me this. If you could have gotten away and not killed the man would you?" Cyrus asked. Harry nodded.

"He gave me no choice." Harry said.

"You had choices actually. You could have gone with him to Voldermort. You could have offered him Daphne." That got a scowl from the other three in the room. "I'm not saying you would. Just that a death eater wouldn't have thought twice about turning on another to save themselves. That thought never crossed your mind, did it?" Cyrus asked. Harry shook his head. "None of these crossed your mind did they?" Again Harry shook his head.

"Someone that was as you put it 'Going Dark' would have considered any or all of those options to save themselves. They never crossed your mind. By the way. Thank you for not thinking of any of those." Cyrus said looking at his daughter holding Harrys hand.

"I would do anything to keep her safe. If necessary I would give myself up for her freedom." Harry all but whispered to the surprise of the parents.

"You better not. I plan on spending many years with you picking up rocks. Don't you ever give yourself up." Daphne said with a passion her parents had never seen from their daughter. Harry met her eyes and nodded once.

"Never. You either." Harrys eyes drilled into her soul. Daphne broke and leaned forward and kissed him in front of her parents. Leaning her forehead against his after the warm kiss.

"Never." she whispered.

Neither parent even breathed. They realized they had just witnessed a couple being formed. It warmed their hearts and also put a little fear in there too. Cyrus was working on ideas but he needed to talk to Harry alone to see how he would react to them. It would protect both him and Daphne when they returned to school.
