CHAPTER 3:
At 4 p.m. the next day, the police officer arrived at Room 303 with Chloe and Aubrey in tow. The girls pointed Kori out through the small window in the classroom door, and the officer marched in and brought her out, protesting all the way.
"NO! GET YOUR HANDS OFF ME, YOU FILTHY POLICEMAN!" Kori yelled, trying to protest.
"You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law," the officer said, taking Kori to the police car.
"I WANT MY LAWYER! I'LL GET YOU SOMEDAY, AUBREY POSEN!" Kori yelled before being forced into the police car and being taken away.
Later at the police station, Aubrey and Chloe stood watching through the two-way mirror as the police officer questioned Kori in the interrogation room.
"We have you on camera breaking in and stealing the money, and you've been positively ID'ed by two other students," the officer said, after reading Kori her Miranda rights.
"I bet I know exactly who those two other students are," Kori fumed.
"Whatever," The police officer leaned over the table towards Kori. "Look, the evidence is pretty watertight. We might be able to work with you on this, but only if you make a full confession." He sat back again. "If you insist on lawyering up, I can't make any promises."
"Fine," Kori huffed.
"OK, so talk," The officer pulled out a small tape recorder, set it to record, and put it on the table between them. "Why'd you do it?"
"One word," Kori began. "REVENGE!"
"I knew it!" said Aubrey, listening from outside.
"I've been plotting my revenge ever since Aubrey kicked me out of the Bellas," Kori continued.
"After Aubrey kicked me out, I spent weeks plotting revenge until the perfect idea came to me. I was eyeing the Atlanta National Bank for a week, and then when I noticed what time they closed, I began to plot my revenge. Around 10 p.m. last night I waited for the employees to go home for the night. I bought a crowbar while plotting this scheme and used it to get inside the bank and steal a stack of 20s before slipping out. Then, earlier this morning, I followed Aubrey to her economics class. I waited for her to step out to use the bathroom so I could quickly sneak in unnoticed and plant that money in her coat pocket. And then when it was all done, I quickly got out before I could get caught. Or at least I thought I wouldn't get caught," Kori finished, glaring at the police officer.
Outside the room, Chloe and Aubrey looked at each other, impressed. "Wow. I have to give her props for having all of that thought up," Chloe said.
"But it doesn't matter," Kori told the officer. "I plan to re-audition for the Bellas long after those two graduate."
"Oh, I don't think you'll be getting that chance," the officer said, taking out handcuffs. "Kori Snyder, you're under arrest for robbery," he continued, putting the handcuffs around her wrists.
Chloe and Aubrey looked on gleefully. "Bye bye, crazy," Aubrey said, and she and Chloe high-fived.
"We did it!" Chloe said.
"I still can't believe she went through all of that just for revenge," Aubrey said.
"I know, right? It looks like we've got a crazy story to share with the Bellas at our next rehearsal," Chloe said as the two headed back to their dorm.
The next day, while the girls sat in their room, there was a knock at the door.
"Hey, Dean," Chloe smiled as she opened the door.
"Hey, ladies. I'm here with the manager of the Atlanta National Bank," Dean Rockford said.
"We wanted to thank you two for finding the culprit that robbed us two nights ago and for making sure all the stolen money was found and accounted for," the bank manager said.
"No problem. I'm just glad she didn't get away with it," Chloe said.
"Well, as our way of saying thank you, we'd like to give you two a reward," the manager said.
He held out a small stack of 20s and handed it to the girls.
"Thank you so much," Chloe exclaimed.
"My pleasure," the manager said.
"So, dean, what's going to happen with Kori?" Aubrey asked.
"They are still putting all of the evidence together, and she will likely go to trial. Her fate is in the hands of the law for now. As far as the school is concerned, though, she has been expelled," Dean Rockford explained.
"Well, thank goodness for that," Chloe said.
"Thanks for everything," Aubrey said.
"No problem. Take care, ladies," Dean Rockford said as the two waved goodbye before closing the door.
"So, all in a good day's work," Chloe said.
"Yeah. I just hope Mary Elise doesn't try something like this," Aubrey said.
"Don't think about that," Chloe said. "So, what should we do with this money?"
"Hmmm...want to go to the mall?" Aubrey asked.
"Right behind you!" Chloe said as the two exited their dorm.
THE END!
AUTHOR'S NOTES: Well, there you go. I thought of this story because I wondered what would've happened after Kori got kicked out of the Bellas. I almost had Mary Elise be an accomplice but ended up not going through with that. Also, the original version of this chapter was replaced since my betas brought to my attention an idea that would be more plausible.
