Chapter 2

Peter Parker's blood ran cold the minute he saw the picture sitting on Tony Stark's workstation. Those huge cerulean blue eyes… that smile… It was her. "M-Mr. Stark?" His voice came out with more of a crack than he intended, making Peter wince.

Tony looked up from his invention, a slightly irritated look on his face, "I thought I told you to stop calling me Mr. Stark, kid." but at catching the kid's shocked look, he frowned. "What's wrong?"

Peter pointed towards the picture, and Tony's entire face brightened. "Oh! That's my little girl! Isn't she the cutest?!"

His daughter… Tony Stark's daughter… Peter gulped, "Y-you have a daughter?"

"Yep! She's about your age, actually. In fact, she's coming to live with us in a few weeks. I should probably tell the others…" Tony Stark waved that idea off. "Either way, you'll meet Kagome in a few weeks."

Kagome… that was her name…

Peter wanted to believe it was merely a coincidence… But there was no way it wasn't… "Has Kagome met any of the other Avengers?"

"She's met Bruce, and the Hulk loves her. But no, why?" Tony looked at him with a raised eyebrow.

"No reason."

It had to be a coincidence… That's what Peter kept telling himself anyway.

Thor had left for Asgard and hadn't been back in six months. This wasn't odd for the deity, since he had a long list of obligations on Asgard, being its next ruler. Tony Stark barreled in the room, talking to FRIDAY a mile a minute, "Okay, we've gotta get this place cleaned up! She'll be here soon! Oh, hey Legolas-" the billionaire snapped his fingers at the archer. "Get your feet off the coffee table!"

"Okay, okay, easy, Tone." Clint Barton raised his feet from the table, setting them down on the title floor. Tony began rattling more things off to FRIDAY to order, clothes, shoes, groceries, and more. Hawkeye watched him for a movement, before looking over at the other Avengers lounging in the main room. "What's with him?"

"No idea," Natasha looked up from her magazine. "He's been like this all day."

Pepper's heels clacked on the ground as she entered the room, and Tony was on her immediately, grabbing her by the shoulders, "Should we get flowers? I feel like we should get her flowers…"

The red-headed CEO sighed and pulled Tony's hands off, "Honey, Kagome's coming to start college and is choosing to live with you for the first time. Relax. Just be happy she's coming to New York and not staying in Tokyo."

"Okay-" Tony took a deep breath. "Okay- I have no idea how to do that! FRIDAY! Order some flowers!" he went back to his pacing, and Pepper shook her head.

"Uh, Pepper?" Clint called, gesturing to the billionaire. "What's with Tony?"

"He didn't tell you?" Pepper had a dry look on her face. "Tony!" she shouted, and he stopped. Pepper placed her hands on her hips, "You didn't tell them?"

"Tell us what?" Steve Rogers questioned as he came into the room, his charge, James "Bucky" Barnes following behind him.

Stark sighed, "My daughter Kagome's coming to live with us."

The entire tower erupted into yelling.

"Okay, people! They're gonna be here any second!" Tony Stark paced back and forth in the Avengers common room, where most of the team was gathered. "Act normal!"

Clint snorted, "Really? Have you met us?"

"She grew up with you as a father, Stark," Natasha smirked. "I don't think we have anything to worry about."

"Hey!"

Her father's aura… It was just as she remembered it… Cerulean blue eyes watched him as he yelled at the other people in the room who could only be the Avengers, "I don't want you idiots to scare her away!"

A light laugh echoed throughout the room, and Tony whipped around, coming face to face with cerulean blue eyes and that smile… that sweet, loving smile… "I doubt you could do that. Otherwise, I'd be gone a long time ago."

"Kagome! Babygirl, you're here!" Tony scrambled over to her form, wrapping the young woman up in his arms. "Oh, I'm so happy to see you!"

"Daddy!" she hugged him back just as tightly. Tony pulled away and Kagome smiled up at him. "How have you been?"

"Oh, y'know, saving the world, that sort of thing."

Happy then came around the corner, a little blond-haired boy running in front of him. The bodyguard leaned against the wall, "I-I held him off as long as I could, sir."

"Grandpa!"

Tony smiled widely, crouching down to pick up the small boy, hosting him up into his arms. "Ah, there's the little mongrel! How've you been, squirt?"

The young boy, no older than two or three, scowled. His deep storm blue eyes snapped to life, and he huffed, "I hate planes."

"Even my private jet?"

The boy nodded. Tony shrugged, "Eh, can't win 'em all."

The rest of the avengers all balked… There was Stark's kid… And… Stark's kid's kid? Clint snorted, then burst out laughing, holding his stomach, "Tony's a grandfather!"

Tony glared at him, "I heard that, Legolas."

Pepper smiled gently, patting the young boy on the head as she came to stand at Tony's side, "How have you been, Leo?"

"Fine."

"Have you been good for your Mama?"

"Mhm!"

Kagome smiled gently, "Most of his terrible twos are over. You're lucky, Dad." her huge, cerulean blue eyes flitted over to the rest of the group, and many felt the breath leave them… Her eyes settled on Bruce, who she quickly bounded over to. "Uncle Bruce!"

She hugged him around the shoulders, the doctor tensing briefly. Bruce chuckled, hugging her back, "Hey, Kagome. No more of those phantom contractions again, right?"

"Nope," Kagome pulled away, her smile wide.

"And Leo?"

"Oh-" she rolled her eyes. "He's fine. That kid has the immune system of-" Kagome stopped, as if realizing what she was saying, her smile turning sad. Bruce patted her on the shoulder… The miko smiled up at him. "So-" she turned, looking at the others in the room. "You must be the Avengers. Dad hasn't told me much about you, and I doubt he told you much or anything about me.

"But I hope you don't mind me and my son staying with you for the foreseeable future."

Tony waved off her concern, handing Leo to Pepper. He wrapped an arm around his daughter's shoulders, "If they do, they can leave. It's my compound."

Steve blinked the shock away, then took a step forward, offering the young woman his hand… "It's nice to meet you, Miss Stark."

"Call me Kagome," was the first thing out of her mouth, making him chuckle.

"Alright. So, may I ask? Where's-"

"Leo's father?" Kagome smiled, unable to help herself, though the expression held a deep grief to it… "Well, I guess you could say he's not exactly around. I may have been 16 when he was born, but sometimes, life gets in the way. Even I know that much. So-" She turned to Pepper. "Where's my room?"

Pepper smiled, gesturing for Happy to get the bags, "I'll show you." She still had Leo in her arms as she led Kagome away, the two falling into easy conversation.

Once they were out of earshot, Natasha crossed her arms over her chest. She shot Tony a pointed look, "You didn't tell us your daughter had a kid, Stark."

Tony shrugged, "wasn't important."

"Having a kid around, especially one that young-"

"I know, Natasha!" the man snapped, his eyes furious as he turned to look at her. "I know, but I love my kid, and I love my grandkid too… Even if…"

His words made them all pause, automatically jumping to the worst-case scenario. Steve swallowed thickly, "Stark, was she-"

Bruce sighed and reached to pull off his glasses, "We don't know. I'm the one who delivered Leo, and she won't even tell me… The father's not even listed on the birth certificate."

Tony clenched his fists tightly, "I'm not sure how that kid came into existence, but if I ever meet Leo's father, I'm gonna kill him… He broke my daughter…"

Though what was unsaid was that Leo healed Kagome's heart…
