Chapter 3
When Peter Parker came skidding into the Avengers Compound after school, his entire body froze when he laid eyes on Kagome- the stunningly beautiful woman sitting on the couch of the main room. And his breath caught…
Those pictures didn't do her justice at all…
But then, Peter noticed the blond toddler sitting at the coffee table, coloring as Kagome knitted a sweater… wait… blond hair? It felt like all the air was knocked out of his lungs, t-that kid… "No way…"
Kagome lifted her head, smiling at him, "Oh, you must, Peter. Dad's intern, right?"
"Uh, yeah…" Peter gulped, looking down at the kid… It couldn't be… "I-is he yours?"
Thankfully, she wasn't offended by the question in the slightest. "Mhm, this is Leo. He just turned three."
The little boy waved at him, then picked up his coloring book, "I'm gonna show Grandpa!"
"Alright, have fun, honey."
Leo skipped off, leaving Peter and the miko…
Kagome had a son…
A son who looked exactly like a little Thor…
"I… I think I need to sit down…" Peter stumbled into a chair, slumping backwards… "You… you two have a kid?"
That caused her to freeze, and Kagome bristled. She looked down the hallway that Leo disappeared down, then turned sharpened cerulean blue eyes on him, "How do you know that?"
Peter flinched, "I… Thor took a nasty hit from a nuke, and I was trying to repair his armor… I-I found a picture of you inside."
Kagome's entire expression softened… something warm spread throughout her body, and she sighed, "He doesn't know."
"W-what?! B-but how could he not, I mean-"
"He can't know, Peter. He can never know…" Kagome looked so sad as she said the words, and she looked at him with a melancholy smile. "Dad trusts you, so I'm going to trust you as well. You're a good person, Peter… So please, please, never tell my husband. He can't know… No one but you, me, and my mother can ever know…"
Husband… Peter gulped… he had never met this woman before, but his spider-sense wasn't going off… She wasn't trying to pull one over on him… She was serious… For whatever reason, Kagome didn't want Thor to know about their child…
"I… I won't…"
"Thank you, Peter…" Tears filled Kagome's blue eyes and she breathed a sigh of relief. "You… you have no idea how much this means to me."
Peter looked down at his shoes, "Well… Mr. Stark always has his reasons for whatever he does, and I can tell that you're similar… You don't want anyone to know…"
He looked back up at her, and a true smile pulled at her face.
Tony had given Kagome her own suite, though it was more like an entire apartment, kitchen and all. Leo's room wasn't too far off from her own, which made her life simpler- though Tony, Pepper, and Happy were all coming and going.
Pretty soon, Peter Parker ended up being added to the mix.
Spider-man tripped over his shoelaces as he bolted towards the kitchen, where Kagome was making breakfast, Leo at the bar. Peter shoved his bag right away, grabbing a piece of toast, "Why did I ever think staying the night was a good idea?!"
"Because you were offended I hadn't watched all of Star Wars yet," Kagome chided him. "And I figured you'd be up, since Leo is a little built in alarm clock."
"It was a crime!" Peter grumbled back, shoving the last piece of toast in his mouth. He lifted his leg up, struggling to tie his loose lace, just as a textbook fell from his open backpack. Kagome picked it up, setting it back inside, before zipping it up. Peter finished tying his shoe, "Thanks."
The miko then picked up a lunchbox and shoved it into his hands, "I made your lunch." Peter raised an eyebrow, looking down at the Spider-man lunch pale, then at her smirking face. "What? No one will suspect your identity if you carry around that. Besides, the irony! Now go! I can't teleport people anymore, so you've gotta hurry!"
Kagome shoved him in the back. Peter balked, "You can do magic?!"
"Duh. Now go! And if you're on time, I'll put your lunch in a Star Wars lunch box next time!"
"I'm going, I'm going!"
"Bye-bye, Pete!"
Peter was sulky the next time he was at the tower. It was a Friday night, which meant it was team building game night. Leo was already in bed, and Kagome sat next to Peter on the floor by the coffee table, the two of them partners in monopoly because they were 'babies.'
"Why didn't you mention you can do magic?" he hissed towards her as Clint was taking forever to decide what to buy. "That's so cool!"
Kagome rolled her eyes. "My best friend was a magician. I learned a bunch of stuff from him."
"Coolest thing ever… So can you really teleport people?"
"I used to. I lost the ability after I had Leo."
Peter scratched the side of his head, "But wait… can't, uh… he fly? Why did you need to know how to teleport?"
Kagome grinned, "To fuck with him, of course. Besides, I do not like flying with him. Makes me nauseous…"
Spider-man blinked, but then snorted under his breath, holding back a laugh… He could only imagine Thor, the mightiest warrior he had ever seen, with a wife who couldn't stand flying with him because it… 'made her sick'…
Tony raised an eyebrow, "Something funny there, Pete?"
"N-no, sir…"
Kagome made a face, "You call Dad, sir?"
Peter glared at her, then whispered low enough so that Tony wouldn't hear, "He makes me nervous, okay?"
"Yeah, cause he's Tony stark. And you know who I am?"
Kagome…
Daughter of Tony Stark…
Mother to Leo Higurashi…
And wife to Thor of Asgard…
Which… which made her a princess…
Peter paled, and Kagome snickered. Natasha hit Clint over the head, picking a property, allowing the two 'babies' to have their turn. Peter reached for the dice, only to have Kagome shove him away, "Nope, nope, I've got Lady Luck on my side." She took the dice and rolled them, "Haha! 12! Just where I wanted!"
Peter rolled his eyes, "What'd you do? Pray to the Asgard goddess of Luck?"
"I'll have you know I never pray to them. I'm a shrine maiden, if I need luck, I'm praying to Bisamontein-sama."
Natasha raised an eyebrow, "You're a shrine maiden?"
Kagome handed the fake money to Sam (who was the banker), who handed her the property card in return. "Yeah, my step-father was a Priest at his family shrine. I was raised there. I started my priestess training in middle school."
"If your step-father was a priest, and if Stark's your biological father- then how are you a priestess? Aren't those powers genetic?"
"Wait… there's powers?!" Tony looked shocked. "Nodoka never mentioned that part!"
Kagome rolled her eyes, "Because my powers are different from Jii-chan's, Dad. And to answer your question, Natasha, yes- most of the time these things are genetic. But every once and a while, someone else is born with spiritual powers." She looked around at the semi-surprised faces and hummed, "I thought you would be more shocked."
Steve smiled reassuringly, "I was frozen in a block of ice for 70 years and have fought a god, I don't think anything could shock me at this point."
Kagome laughed softly, "Oh, I doubt that, Captain."
Yes… there were many parts of her past Kagome would never share with another…
Things that would shock these people to the core if they knew.
Ned Leeds walked into the courtyard of Midtown highschool with his best friend, Peter Parker, and the only girl that came close to them- MJ Watson. Ned groaned and rolled his shoulders, "Why are Mondays so long?!"
"They're not any longer than any other day, Ned." MJ said without remorse, causing Peter to chuckle. "And the day's not over yet, anyway. We're only at lunch." Ned cursed under his breath. They settled at an outdoor table, and Peter rummaged around in his bag. MJ raised an eyebrow, "What are you looking for?"
"My lunch." But there was no sign of the ridiculous children's lunch box. Peter groaned, remembering, "I left it on the counter. Damn it…"
"Those lunches Aunt May's been sending you look different." Ned commented, taking a bite of his sandwich. "Has she been trying out a new recipe book?"
"Something like that…"
"But that lunch box is a little childish. It's for kids, right?" MJ added. "It's got spider-man on it."
Peter sighed, "It was a joke from a friend of mine."
Ned snorted, fully understanding, then gasped loudly, "A friend?! You have another friend, and you didn't tell me?! How could you, Parker?!"
Mercifully, Peter was saved by his cell phone dinging… he checked it quickly, ignoring Ned's pout, and blinked at the text… Speak of the devil…
'I'm here. Come get me. I'm at the front of the school.'
Peter sweatdropped, at least she doesn't show up like Mr. Stark did…. But then he noticed that there were three more texts just like it, from fifteen minutes ago, when his phone was on silent when he was still in class…
"Sheesh, so you did get my texts. For a second there I thought you forgot how to use your phone."
Peter whipped around, his mouth dropping open in shock. Standing there in a pleated mini-skirt, thigh high socks, button up shirt, and oversized sweater was Kagome- a black designer bag over her shoulder. "Wha… how'd you get inside?!"
Ned's sandwich fell out of his hands… Woah… she was hot…
MJ raised an eyebrow- that girl didn't look too far removed from being a student.
Kagome merely gave Peter a shove, and he scooted over, the girl taking a seat next to him. She reached in her bag, pulling out the spider-man lunch box from her bag (which did not look like it could fit inside) before handing it to Peter. "Here. And as for how I got inside, it was easy. No one even stopped me. This place should really have more security."
Peter knew it had nothing to do with a lack of security. It was because Kagome was so beautiful she could smile and ask nicely for anything in the world and have it delivered to her on a silver platter.
"Dude," Ned hissed, looking at Kagome briefly, before glaring at Peter. "You know her?! And you never mentioned it?!"
Peter shifted awkwardly, "It, uh, didn't come up?"
"It didn't come up, my ass! You have a friend, who's a girl! Who makes you lunch!"
MJ smirked, "So, who's your girlfriend, Parker?"
Kagome snorted, just as Peter paled. He shook his head rapidly, "Oh no, no, no, no. Kagome is not my girlfriend."
The miko laughed and nudged him, holding back a smile as she looked up at him in innocence, "Aren't I your friend? And I'm a girl, aren't I?"
"You're not helping," Spider-man hissed to her. She snickered.
Ned grinned, "So your name's Kagome, huh? And you're definitely not Peter's girlfriend?"
Kagome shook her head, and the boy beamed- score! She was single! And if she was friends with Peter, then that meant he maybe had a chance! Peter saw the look on Ned's face and sighed. He opened his lunch, "So who's on Leo duty?"
"Oh, Pepper's got him. I think she's using him to secure the deal with Holt Finance. Apparently, their CEO is a total baby lover." Kagome shrugged. "Either way, Leo has fun, and I get to shop on Dad's card."
"I thought you had class?"
"Yeah. Done that."
Peter looked at her oddly, "And you don't… have homework?"
Kagome returned the strange look, "Homework?" she hit her fist into her palm, "Right! The work you're supposed to do at home!" she waved him off, "Oh, I did that hours ago. Professor Mclesh was still talking about hydrogen fission. It's not like it's hard."
Spider-man sweatdropped, "Right… Sometimes I forget you're a certified genius."
That caught MJ's interest. Her eyes widened, "You are?"
Kagome merely shrugged, as if the information wasn't shocking, "Yeah. It's no big deal really."
"Kagome-" Peter looked at her exasperated. "Your IQ is 290. That's even higher than Mr. Stark's."
"Well yeah. I know that. Dad's been bragging about it since I was four. I just don't see the big deal."
"Not a big deal?!" Ned's jaw dropped. "Y-your IQ is 290! I didn't even know someone could be that smart!"
MJ rolled her eyes, turning a page in her book. "Textbook smarts aren't everything, y'know."
Peter sweatdropped.
