The legalities: I do not own any of the Expendables franchise (characters, places, and objects especially) and this is mostly au.Rated M just to be on the safe side.
Also, please don't be afraid to write reviews. I would love to hear from you all!
Hope you enjoy!
Prompt: "Unfortunately, there's no way we can do this."
"Fortunately, you're wrong."
"How's it going, Amazon?"
Jacoba looked over her glasses (she had run out of contacts, unfortunately, and hadn't had time to order more yet; she'd get to it eventually) to see Bonaparte standing in front of her desk with his arms crossed. Smirking, she placed her bookmarks on her current page and leaned back to look at the man in front of her. "It's been going alright, Bonaparte. What brings you to our neck of the woods?"
Bonaparte sighed. "Just had a piece of work cross my desk that was flagged for the Expendables specifically."
"And that required you to come all this was in person?" Jacoba furrowed her brow; no other piece of work had required the recruiter (as she called him) to leave his office and physically bring it to Barney.
"Yeah, I have reservations about this one, since I wasn't the one to take down the information on it. Do you know if Barn is in?"
Jacoba stood. "Yeah, in his office. Come on, let's go hear what you got."
~~~Bonaparte's Pessimism~~~Bonaparte's Pessimism~~~Bonaparte's Pessimism~~~
Half an hour later, Bonaparte, Barney, and Jacoba all leaned back in their chairs, having just finished going over the file. Bonaparte had been right, there was a lot to not like about this particular mission. However, Jacoba (and Barney, even though he hadn't said so yet) was preparing to advocate for the team to take the job. It was fairly simple, even though it relied rather heavily on her, but she knew that she could handle it.
"So, that's the ins and outs of it. Unfortunately, there's no way that the team can do this."
Jacoba furrowed her brow at Bonaparte when he said this. "Ok, first off, fortunately, you're wrong. And secondly, shouldn't you ask the person who will have to pull the most weight on the mission if they can do this?"
Bonaparte rolled his eyes before looking over at Barney. "Alright then, who would be the person pulling the most weight?"
Barney smirked and pointed over at Jacoba, who was waving with a big smirk on her own face. Bonaparte groaned as he laid his head down on the table. It looked as though his pessimism was not going to win this argument. He had really hoped that he would be able to convince the rest of the team that this mission wasn't a good idea. He was still going to try, but he didn't really believe that it would go his way. Oh, well.
