Prompt: "If we're going to do this, we're going to need – "
"A plan?"
"No! Codenames! Cool ones!"
She had to admit, this was a bit off, even for her. Jacoba shook her head slightly as she settled herself down a bit better on the cushions that she had arranged on the floor behind one of the shelves in the Hub. This was the perfect place for her to hide from the rest of the team, as no one could see where she currently was from anywhere, including on the cameras that Thorn thought no one knew he put up.
Of course, her new reading nook came with an advantage as well. From her hideaway, Jacoba could hear everything that was said anywhere within the Hub. Which was actually coming in rather handy right now.
Thorn and Luna had just been joined by Mars and Smilee, which was proof enough for Jacoba to know that the four of them were definitely up to something. This was proven true as soon as Smilee (ever the leader) opened his mouth.
"Alright, what ideas have you guys come up with for Jacoba's birthday?"
Luna scoffed. "We haven't gotten very far."
"Why not?"
"Hey, I had an idea!"
"Thorn."
"Well, if we're going to plan this, we're going to need– "
"A plan?" Jacoba almost cracked up at the unison, monotonous (and unamused) tone that the other three used in response to Thorn, but she was able to hold it in. those three really did deal with a lot in regards to the hacker.
"No! Codenames! Cool ones!"
It took all of Jacoba's willpower to keep herself from laughing out loud, and she was just barely able to contain herself. She could hear Luna and Smilee begin to argue with the hacker about his logic (even she knew that that was a futile effort; Thorn believed what he believed and no one would be able to move him) and Jacoba had to school her features once again before frowning. Mars might not be the most vocal of the team (Jacoba would class him and Yin together when it came to how talkative they were), but he would jump in by now to meditate for the younger members of the Expendables.
"Come on guys." There he was. "Let's take a break and maybe ask Lacey and Gunnar for ideas. It's not like her birthday is tomorrow or something."
After hearing the other three agree and listening to them all bicker as they left, Jacoba sighed and began to collect up her things. Now was as good a time as any to go remind her best friend and her lover to not go overboard on her birthday this year. It seemed as though she'd have to watch her brother and his friends now as well. Oh joy.
