"Good Fortune in Matters of the Heart"
Clayton reveals to Amelia that the reason he rarely watches romances is because it'll just remind him that he may never get to experience some of these things himself. With Clayton being autistic, he feels that may contribute to his fear of intimacy.
Amelia is alone in hers and Clayton's apartment, curled up with a blanket on the couch, eating a bag of chips, and watching TV. Since Clayton was away, it was a golden opportunity to watch one of her favorite soap operas. She knew these kinds of shows weren't Clayton's thing, so she opted to watch them when he wasn't home. The show she was watching had the woman in the couple missing her boyfriend after being away for so long. He is moving forward in his career, and has had to take many business trips. She is worried that he is starting to forget the love they have, and he assures her that he still loves her, and misses her just as much.
Amelia is currently watching the couple in bed when Clayton walks in the door, and she quickly turns towards him. She goes to change the channel, when Clayton stops her.
"No, It's okay. Watch your show."
"Well, I know you don't like them. I didn't want to make you sit through my shows." Amelia said.
Clayton joins Amelia on the couch, and wraps an arm around her.
"It's not that I don't like the shows…I just don't like watching the love scenes." Clayton explained.
Amelia sits up straight, turning to face him.
"How come? Is it because you're a virgin? I told you, that doesn't matter to me."
"Well that, and…" Clayton sighs. "I don't know. Anytime I see those kinds of romantic scenes, I've been afraid for a long time that I might never get to experience that."
Amelia looks at Clayton with a sad smile, moving closer to wrap her arms around his shoulders. He blushes as his wife got within inches of his nose, and Amelia runs her fingers through his hair.
"You don't have to be afraid of that anymore, Babe. Nothing would make me happier than to make love to you, but when you're ready. I'm not in a rush." Amelia told him.
"I want to, but I'm worried I won't know what I'm doing." Clayton says hanging his head, but Amelia lifts his chin with her hand.
"Later, after dinner, let's see if we can change that."
"Uhm, uh, okay." Clayton says while blushing.
The two of them decided to order Chinese food, and put on a movie while they waited for their order. After a long day at work around a lot of people coming up to pay for their groceries, and lots of different noises surrounding him, this was the best part of Clayton's day. Getting to cuddle up with Amelia for a movie night made him feel more at ease, and he didn't have to worry about appearing normal or like he had everything under control. Amelia would lean into her husband, and look at him adoringly; something Clayton has always wanted to experience with another person.
Soon they heard a knock at the door, and Amelia took in their food. Amelia got beef lo mein, and Clayton got pork dumplings, taking their food to the living room, and eating it while continuing to watch the movie. Normally Clayton would use a fork, but recently he is starting to get the hang of chopsticks. He's always watched Amelia use chopsticks, and has wanted to be able to use them as well. Of course Amelia has been helpful in getting him used to them, and now Clayton has managed to get through six dumplings without dropping them once. The couple decided to share the last bit of their food, before having their fill of the meal, and putting away the leftovers. Now the movie was over, and it was time for Clayton's favorite part; fortune cookies. Amelia pulled two out of the bag, and handed one to Clayton.
"Here, you read yours first." Amelia said.
Clayton cracked open his cookie, pulling out the fortune. " Mine says, "You should be able to undertake and complete anything." Sounds promising, I think. What about you?"
Amelia smiled at him while opening her cookie. She pulled the fortune close to her reading out, "There is a surprise awaiting you in the bedroom." She gave him a wink, and Clayton furrowed his eyebrows.
"Did someone send you a surprise?"
Amelia giggles, grabbing Clayton's face and kissing his lips.
"No silly, I have a surprise for you." She said, taking his hand. "Come on, follow me."
As Amelia cracked the door open, Clayton could see a lit candle on top of their headboard, and a single rose on the bed. Amelia picked up the rose, brushing it across Clayton's cheek and down his torso before tossing it back on the bed. She wrapped her arms around his shoulders, and Clayton laid his hands on her hips, meeting in the middle for a kiss. Soon Amelia's kisses moved to Clayton's neck as she made work of unbuttoning Clayton's shirt.
"Oh, uhm, you're taking off my shirt, okay." Clayton mumbled nervously.
Amelia's hands traveled up Clayton's chest and up to the back of his neck as she leaned in close to him to speak.
"Are you ready?"
Clayton nods, "Yeah, yeah, I'm ready."
Amelia unbuttoned the rest of his shirt, resting her hand on his waist, and giving him a peck on his lips.
"How are we doing so far?"
"Great." Clayton nodded.
Amelia pulls the rest of his shirt off before pulling Clayton all the way in the room, and closing the door behind them.
The evening ended with Clayton and Amelia cuddled up together after making love for the first time. Clayton held his wife close as she traced her fingers along his chest, and Clayton kissed the top of her head, laying with her in quiet bliss. This has been a scary thing to think about for a long time, and he wasn't sure it would ever happen, but now that Clayton has had this experience with someone who really loves him, he realizes that this was definitely worth waiting for. Amelia kisses her husband's cheek while whispering in his ear.
"Hey, I'm feeling pretty amazing right now. How about you?"
"I feel great. You were incredible." Clayton told her.
Amelia laughed, laying a kiss on his lips.
"Thanks. You weren't so bad yourself, handsome."
Clayton hugs her tighter, pressing a kiss to her lips.
"I love you."
"I love you, too." Amelia said, laying her head on his chest.
Clayton sits up momentarily to blow the candle out as the two of them drift off to sleep.
