Chapter 2

Hermione

"Professor McGonagall, won't I be behind other children who were born in the magical world", she asked the stern Professor as she was led to shop after shop.

"No, Miss Granger, no children are allowed to cast magic before the age of eleven and though those who are assimilated into our society from birth have an unfair advantage, I have yet to see children who want to study instead of play", Professor McGonagall said with a smirk at the last words.

She nodded like it made sense, and then asked, "What are Magical cores Professor McGonagall?", she had been explained the concept of Magical Cores after she had been checked by Magical Doctor, apparently it was a rule for Muggleborns to be checked for magical Illnesses when entering the Magical world and she had come across that specific term while talking to the healer.

"Well Magical cores are nothing tangible to start, think of them as a part of your soul magical cores allow us wizards and witches the ability to harness the magical Ley lines which are all across the universe as far as our studies suggest, now think of magical ley lines as fuel. Fuel is required to create energy in a muggle world If I am not wrong Miss Granger, that is a very advanced term may I ask where you came across it?"

She nodded and explained what the healer had said.

Professor McGonagall chuckled and once again started to explain

"Well, the magical ley lines are the fuel which we require to cast magic from wands or staffs or any magical conduit, this is all very complex Ms Granger and I must admit that I am ignorant of the subtleties and many of the theories which revolving around this particular branch of magic, this is all very advanced charms topic and I think Professor Flitwick would be able to teach you more about this very topic"

She made a mental note to meet Professor Flitwick and ask him to explain this topic to her, which had engrossed her interest.

"Now, Miss Granger, we are done with buying all your books and supplies, now I would personally recommend you to bring a pet with you to Hogwarts, now if you want to have one I can take you to the pet shop", Said Professor McGonagall

She nodded her head excitedly and squeaked,

"Yes please Professor"

She once again saw Professor McGonagall smile and then lead her to a shop called Magical Menageries.

Just as she entered the shop she was once again completely overwhelmed by the amazing capabilities of magic, how was she going to get used to the wonderful miracles of magic she didn't know but she knew that she was going to squeeze out every moment of her life.

Magical Menageries might not look good from the outside, but when a person entered the shop, they were welcomed into a huge hall where thousands of owls flew, hundreds of cats and other magical creatures roamed freely, and young children and adult wizards were lost among the sea of creatures.

Her breath hitched at the overwhelming sight, and she stopped every time she entered a magical shop. She was welcomed by the same huge indoors while small and shabby-looking outdoors.

She felt Mrs McGonagall's hand on her shoulders causing the trance state she was in to fade.

"Amazing is it not, Miss Granger", the Professor said

"It is, Professor", she squeaked

Once again Professor smiled and guided her around the shop, finally after a long time exploring the shop, she chose a small orange-white kitten as her new companion.

Harry Potter

Family time… he thought distastefully, he was ready to forgive his parents just to have them back… to have a family, but it seemed like they had forgotten that he was a part of the family, they fawned over his brother and his younger sister while he just sat out there forgotten. It had been few weeks now and it seemed like they had stopped caring, just like Dursleys he had been given his twins worn clothes.

He fondled Twittels, it was good to have her as companion. It seemed like he was bound to be friendless, in muggle world he had been friendless because Dudley was a big bully and no one wanted to become friends with Dudley's Prime target, here though it seemed like his obnoxious and bully twin who was famous and with whom everyone wanted to play with made him fade and be forgotten.

Though it was not of lack of trying on his part, he had been fast learner by all standards and was trying his best to assimilate into wizarding society, trying everything and had tried to learn wizarding Etiquettes. But he was not fast enough and he was already unpopular in Jim's circle and it seemed like Holly fawned over his brother, which made him feel left out, alone.

With their parents gone for work he preferred to spend his time with Animals which lived in the gardens of Potter Manor and the Forests around it.

Animals were better companions; he felt more comfortable around them in anyway.

As for his problem with his parent, that was yet to be resolved. He just hoped they would come to love him, he wanted parents, and had tried to hate them but he just couldn't… he just couldn't.

"Harry"

"Harry"

He was broken out of his thoughts by the voice of his mother who had now grown impatient with him, "Now listen Harry, or else your trip to Diagon Alley will be cancelled"

He took a breath to calm himself, they were not too different from Dursley's and he could clearly see the similarities between his aunt Petunia and his mother the same prideful eyes and expression and the same high cheekbones.

"I am listening, mum", he said

His mother seemed to start to say something but before she could open her mouth his father interrupted and said, "Good, well son you need to take this powder in your hands and throw it in the fireplace and step into it like this"

And showed him how to do it and then just as he had stepped into the fireplace and vanished into nothingness, towards that scrubby pub in London at the entrance of Diagon Alley.

"Now do just like your father did and imagine the fireplace at leaky cauldron as you step into the fire", his mother said

He then did as he was instructed but alas he was travelling through floo for the first time and started coughing as he threw the Green powder in flames, he could feel the soot entering his nostrils and he felt the time he had been dropped into the chimney of Dursley's to clean it by his Uncle Vernon, he felt nauseating, "Leaky Cauldron", he said imagining the small pub but alas the immense nauseating feeling made his head soon and he ended up not thinking hard enough about the Leaky Cauldron. He could feel his stomach turn and feet spin and off he went into an unknown place.

Bam!

He was thrown out of the fireplace and ended up on his back

He coughed as he regained his vision from all the soot that was in the fireplace which had entered his lungs and eyes.

"Damn everyone", he said softly.

He hadn't expected that incident had affect him so deeply, but perhaps he had been.

He got up and looked around In front of him were dozens of shops all selling different - different items, after checking out his face in a puddle of water and deciding that he did not look like a chimney boy from the early 1850s. He decided to check out the shops, he didn't know where Leaky Cauldron was and didn't know where he was, perhaps someone from the shop could help him?

Though it wasn't like he was alone for the first time and probably they won't even notice that I am missing he thought sadly.

He entered Magical menageries, the pet shop

And immediately felt lost, from outside the shop looked small but inside it was completely different, gods it was huge, he absorbed the scene and walked towards the counter but it seemed like everyone here was either in Hurry or just didn't care and he soon felt lost He loved animals, they had been his companions and friends, and unlike People were not biased but judged themselves after all Twittels was the very proof, he felt his squirrel pet snuggle him in his pocket.

He looked around the shop with his wide eyes amazed and decided that it was more worth exploring the shop than trying to find his parents. The shop was nothing like he had imagined and expected, with thousands of animals roaming free he just couldn't control himself.

Lily

She was stressed a little too much at the very moment, already she had too much work on her shoulders with managing Potter Charitable Trust, and all the paperwork that came with being the head of foreign affairs for Britain and finally training James Junior in magic so he could defeat Voldemort.

She was the first muggle born in history to become head of any department in ministry not to forget the esteemed position of foreign minister and now she was stressed even more because she was not able to find her son, not James Junior no James Junior was not this careless and not to mention he was smart and did not sulk, and while she could understand why her second son was so glum, this was just too much she was going to crack, She had taken out time after a lot of struggle, she could not just dump work on her secretary and enjoy no, she had an image to maintain.

Perhaps it might not be Harry's fault, he was a kid after all and had gone long without any kind of supervision, and new to the world as he was she was not going to scream at him for not being able to floo, after all, she had also ended up in the wrong place when she herself when she had flooed for the first time.

"James dear take Jimmy and Holy to get his Hogwarts stuff I shall check out with Emmy and see where Harry dropped out of floo you rarely get enough time off from your auror duty go have some fun with children", she said to James.

"Yes, dear, though please do not take it so hard, I can go and contact Head of Magical Transportation you enjoy your time with kids", James her sweet James offered.

"No, it's alright James", she replied and kissed her husband on the cheek

"You take your time, after all with you being Auror I doubt you get enough time with Holy and Jimmy", she replied and flooed away.
