Hermione
She had been reading a few chapters of the Transfiguration Book but then she was distracted by the sound of tapping on the window of her room, she rose from her bed to check what was causing the sound.
She removed the curtains and found a majestic-looking snowy owl, which carried a letter attached to its claws. Hedwig would be jealous she thought.
Upon opening the window, the snowy owl offered the claw with a letter. After a brief moment of hesitation, she took the letter off the claw, and just as the letter was in the owl's claw, it gave a hoot and flew away.
She closed the window, sat on her bed and started reading the letter, as far as she knew owls were a means of communication used by wizards apart from Patronus spell and she only had one wizarding friend, and her suspicions were proved right this was a letter sent to her by Harry, she smiled. Then she began reading the letter.
(Flashback)
"Now Miss Granger we would be getting you your wand, this moment is very well memorable for a wizard or witch and just as personal. Therefore, I would request you to enter the shop of Ollivander's Alone and preserve this moment in your memory", Professor McGonagall said
She nodded and slowly entered the Ollivanders shop, there was no one of the counter and the shop looked so dusty and with all the furniture scattered it felt like the shop was abandoned.
She started examining the counter when she was startled when she realised she was being observed by an ancient man who chuckled at her reaction.
"Mrs Granger", The old wizard said laughing
"Mr Ollivander", she stammered
"Mmmm... you have a resemblance to Elsby Dagworth Granger", the ancient wizard murmured
"I am sorry?", she asked
"Never mind my ramblings, it seems like you have come for your first wand?", asked Mr Ollivander
"Y... Yes", she said
"Well It seems like Unicorn thirteen and half inches would suit you", Mr Ollivander said and off he went inside the aisles of Shelves of wands
after few minutes Mr Ollivander returned with few boxes and started offering her wands
"No"
"Woops"
"Nah, nevermind"
"What a tricky customer"
"Mmm... No No not at all"
"Ah Nooooo"
"Ah here you go nine and half inches Rosewood and Dragon heart string, very powerful", Mr Ollivander offered her a very beautiful wand
She took the handle and could feel the power she could feel mutual admiration.
"Ah this is going to be interesting year", Mr Ollivander said joyfully
"Mr Ollivande?", she asked confused
"Ah don't mind me child, that would be seven Galleons", Mr Ollivander said
She shook her head at the memory.
(Sometime later)
She was excited, this was one of those rare opportunities where she could escape the constant fighting between her mother and father, Harry had asked whether she would be able to visit the local zoo and then visit the town library with him, she could not resist such an offer with no friend in the muggle world who could understand her and with the problems in her family she was only happier to accept.
She quickly wrote a reply and looked outside to find her snowy owl returning, once it had perched she tied the letter to the snowy ow- no Hedwig's claw and watched as the snowy owl flew into the night.
She then closed the window and jumped up in her bed, she would need to get up early tomorrow.
Harry
(Earlier)
His mother had been disappointed, but he did not care and just after reuniting with his family he was almost distracted while purchasing books and clothes, he just wanted to go back and play with other animals, his father, on the other hand, was playful and was almost as excited as his brother, finally after purchasing all the school supplies, they were going to get his and his brother a wand, getting a wand was a major event in the wizarding world and the only good wands were made by Olivander's in Britain.
All the Potters huddled inside the shop, Just like almost every other wizarding shop it looked small from the outside but was huge inside, though not as big as magical menageries and neither did it have as many people inside it, No that was not the right word, the shop looked deserted but it seemed like his parents knew what was going on and rang a bell, and he heard shuffling of boxes and soon enough an old man appeared and upon seeing his parents spoke,
"Mr Potter 11 inches Mahogany good for transfigurations if I remember right", said the old man
His father nodded. It seemed that the old man was unsettling not only to him but also to his parents.
"Ahh Mrs Potter, I remember the day so well you were quite excited, 10 and quarter inches I believe good for charms", said the old man
Then the old man looked straight at his brother and then at him, he felt as if his soul was being evaluated, he gulped and the old man finally said, "Ah I have waited for this day for quite a long time"
Then the old man went back into the back of his shop without any word more and he heard boxes being shuffled and then the man came back holding out several boxes.
"I have just realised how rude I was, went off without introducing myself to you two young lads, well I am Garrick Ollivander the finest wand makerin the whole of Britain", said Garrick Ollivander
"No sound came from his throat but his brother smiled and said, "I have heard a lot about you, Mr Ollivander"
Ollivander simply nodded and then pulled out a wand from a dust-covered box and handed it to his brother who waved it though nothing happened then the WWand maker handed him the same wand and feeling a bit foolish he took and waved it just like his brother there was no response from the wand after which Ollivander carefully took the wand from him and placed it back in the box and soon enough, they started going over box after box.
Olivander presented his brother with a reddish wand which when his brother waved around did nothing then his brother handed him the wand and he instantly felt warm, upon waving it flames erupted from his wand and just briefly he could see the flames taking the shape of a horse.
"Curious Very Curious", said Ollivander and then picked up another wand and gave it to his brother.
He could see some kind of similar reaction come from his brother it was clear that the wand had chosen his brother, and upon waving the wand a burst of water came out of his brother's wand.
The old man tittered joyfully and said, "Oh this is as exciting as I was hoping for"
"How so Mr Ollivander?", asked Lily Potter
"You see Mrs Potter, both of your sons have got wands with the same core and more importantly from the same animal, a phoenix feather which had also given one other feather and that feather went into the wand of You-Know-Who, and even more interesting is the fact that Jim Potter here has got a wand of yew while Harry Potter older of the two has got wand made of Sandalwood", Ollivander finished as if it meant something.
His mother and father looked puzzled and his mother asked, "Sorry Mr Ollivander I am not as well versed in wand lore as I am in other fields of magic can you elaborate"
"Oh yes… yes, well you see Yew wands are rare and that is because they choose incredibly powerful wizards… wizards with destiny while sandalwood well… are rarest because they choose wizards which grow to become incredibly strong and it is believed that the person who is chosen by sandalwood wand is chosen of destiny and fate If I remember correctly Mr Potter in ancient Greece and Rome some of the strongest wizards like Circe, Hecate, Medea, Helios, Orpheus, Pythagoras, Agrippa, Octavius and Aurelius had some or other wizarding instrument made out of sandalwood, extracted from the forests of India and Sandalwood is magical that it is used in almost every fourth magical ritual in Asia and Eastern magic.", said the old man
"And we shall not forget Jim Potter for his wand is brother wand to that of the Dark Lord, sharing not only the same core but also the same wood and being Identical to that of Lord Voldemort in every way"
"That is all very nice but I think we must leave now", said his father breaking the suspense built by the wand maker
"That would be fourteen galleons", said the wand maker and they quickly left his shop after paying their due.
