It was a rather restless day in Whitby. Authorities rushed to the scene of the massacre at the asylum. The bodies were carried out by the building by paramedics. One of the guards was still living however, but his legs were broken.

"What I saw was not human. You have to find him!" the man said before being taken away. Ada was watching from afar. Then, Mina walked up behind her. "Let me guess-" Mina was cut off. "Dracula." Ada said.

"Let's get back to Lucy's house." Mina said. "Okay." Ada said before they left the scene.

Meanwhile:

Dracula was pacing back and forth in the Carfax basement, when Renfield came down. "Master, you're normally asleep at this hour. What's come over you?" Renfield asked. "There's a girl in this town. She once lived in Bran, and I had made an attempt to capture her in the past. She has something I want, something that could help me gain even more than what I'm shooting for." Dracula explained.

"What does she have that you want?" Renfield asked. "Do you believe in witches?" Dracula asked. "No, not really, I always saw your existence as a beautiful act of the devil, and humans cannot harness magic." Renfield said.

"Well you thought wrong." Dracula said. "You see, Renfield, during my time, there was a small clan that lived in the mountains of Romania. These people were part of a network across Europe that connected the last of the witch clans.

These people went to ancient schools of unknown origin, tucked away from humanity. Each school taught one of the different forms of magic. Elemental magic, environmental magic, oracle magic, illusionary magic, chronological magic, and necromancy. They were found out by the Catholic church, and formed clans away from the rest of humanity, where they could live their own peaceful lives, away from the discrimination of humanity." Dracula explained.

"What happened to them?" Renfield asked. "When I became the count, and I discovered them, I was outraged. I had to fight in the name of god, but the only way to do so was to make a deal with the devil. I went undercover, and I enrolled in the school of necromancy. But there was a rule. Every tenth person that set foot in that school would have their soul sold to the devil. I was one of those people." Dracula explained.

"Once I was finished at the school, I burned it to the ground and had its students executed. Then, I used my new powers to raise an army that wasn't just composed of those alive in the Romanian military, but every dead person in the territory." Dracula explained.

"Oh, and you wiped them out." Renfield guessed. "Most of them, but I was… assassinated by a witch who was exceptional in all forms of magic. I impaled her with my blade, but she used her chronological magic to go back by ten seconds, and she did not fail that time." Dracula explained.

"And the devil resurrected you since he owned your soul." Renfield realized. "Yes, but he never forced me to do anything, aside from making me predisposed to bring terror upon others. Therefore, I have the opportunity to become a ruler once more. And the reason I am… obsessed with the girl I mentioned is because I believe that when a witch gives birth to a child, they pass down the dormant ability to perform magic, but it must be awakened. If I can possess the girl, I can awaken those powers, and use them to achieve world domination." Dracula exclaimed.

"Oh, yes master! I can help, whatever you need, just tell me and I'll do it!" Renfield offered. "A very kind offer, but you are not needed yet. The girl is… resolute in comparison to others. She is very difficult to catch. My plan is to demoralize her first, and when she has finally given up, I will take action." Dracula said. "Very well then, master." Renfield said before heading back upstairs.

September 1st:

Lucy was in her room, writing in her diary. "I am very, very grateful for Mr. Helsing's help, even if I don't quite understand some of his methods. However, I will say that I am growing very tired. Not sleeping is very painful, but I'm afraid to sleep. I keep seeing a monster in my dreams." Lucy wrote.

Meanwhile:

Seward, Helsing, and Lucy's mother were resting in the living room, while Mina and Ada cooked dinner. "You're using too much pepper." Ada said to Mina.

"So how's Lucy doing?" Helsing asked. "Oh, she's doing much better. I will say that I did remove that reef of garlic buds from her room and threw it out. It was just so ugly, and it wasn't doing anything for Lucy." Lucy's mother said. "You what?!" Helsing asked, raising his voice extraordinarily high.

Mina jumped at the sound, and accidentally spilled hot cooking oil onto her hand. "Owww!" Mina screamed. "Mina!" Ada shouted as she tended to her burns. "Well look what you did! Raising your voice like you own the place!" Lucy's mother said.

Lucy's mother proceeded to leave the room, before Helsing sat down, trying to compose himself. "Van, please stay calm-" Seward was caught off guard as Helsing stood up again. "Goddammit!" he shouted, before kicking the wall.

Ada entered the room where Lucy's mother was to get medical supplies out of the closet. "And that's the man we're trusting with my daughter." Ada paused. "Seward, tend to Mina's burns." Ada requested. "Of course, madam." Seward said before taking the medical supplies and entered the kitchen.

Then, Ada turned to look at Lucy's mother. "Have you no gratitude?" Ada asked. "What do you mean?" Lucy's mother asked. "That man is the reason that your daughter is still alive, and you have the audacity to shame him when you're the one who disobeyed his orders. He's the expert here, not you!" Ada said.

"Well I'll be-" Lucy's mother was cut off by Ada. "Shut. Up." Ada ordered. Then, Lucy's mother slapped Ada's face. "Don't you dare talk to me like that!" Lucy's mother threatened. Then, Ada's fist balled up, and she punched Lucy's mother in the jaw, sending Lucy's mother to the ground.

Lucy's mother proceeded to spit out a tooth. "You don't deserve to be a mother. You are an absolutely deplorable piece of human filth." Ada scorned. "I want you out of my house!" Lucy's mother shouted as she stood up. "If I'm leaving, then Mina's leaving with me!" Ada said before storming out of the room.

"What's going on down here?!" Lucy asked as she rushed downstairs. "That purple haired cretin assaulted me!" Lucy's mother accused. "She slapped me!" Ada shouted from another room.

Later that night: Mina and Ada were on the side of the road. Ada was pacing back and forth. "Did you have to punch the old hag?" Mina asked. "She deserved it!" Ada exclaimed. "I know she did, but look where we are now." Mina said.

Ada sighed and sat down next to Mina. "I get it, but… after months of dealing with that bitch… I just couldn't take it anymore." Ada said. "I… I just combusted right there." Ada said, tears welling up in her eyes. "Hey, don't beat yourself up hun. It's not your fault. If I was the target of derogatory remarks from someone like that for months, I would've lost my temper too." Mina said.

Then, Ada hugged Mina and cried into Mina's shoulder. "I love you." Ada said. "I know you do." Mina said, lightly stroking Ada's hair, which was heavily damaged from being painted, but there was somehow a weird beauty to it.

Then, Mina helped Ada get up. "Now, we can't stay here. It's night, and Dracula will keep coming for Lucy." Mina said. "We can't risk being caught in the crosshairs, not right now." Mina said before they got moving with their luggage.

Meanwhile:

Helsing and Seward entered Lucy's room to see lying in bed, deathly pale. "Quick, Seward, prepare my materials. I'll be the one to give Lucy blood this time." Helsing said before taking his jacket off and sitting down.

Four days later:

Lucy was writing in her diary once again. "I've been sleeping much better since the last blood transfusion, although I couldn't help but hear something wrapping at the window." Lucy wrote.

Little did she know, Ada and Mina were spying on her through her bedroom window with a store bought pair of binoculars. "She seems fine." Ada said before dropping down next to Mina, and fleeing the area.

The couple found themselves in town square, where Ada was reading a newspaper she had stolen. "What are you reading?" Mina asked. "This zookeeper reported that he had encountered a tall man with glowing red eyes outside of the wolf cages, while the wolves seemed restless about something. One wolf by the name of Berserker escaped." Ada said.

"Glowing red eyes?" Mina asked. "Sounds like that might be Dracula in disguise." Ada said before throwing the newspaper away. Then, a random man walked up to them. "Hello, ladies." the man said. "We have syphilis." Ada said, scaring the man off. "Whatever happened to chivalry?" Mina asked. "Absolutely no idea." Ada answered.

Later that day:

Seward was at a memorial being held at the asylum for the guards that Renfield had killed. Once people started leaving, Lucy walked up to him. "They were great men, I'm sure." Lucy said, placing a hand on Seward's shoulder.

Strangely, Seward jerked away. "I kept trying to act like this never happened, like the men that I've worked with for years aren't dead, but standing here… I can't lie to myself anymore. My friends were murdered, and no self respecting man will settle for a ceremony, while the police fail to find the man that did this. I'm going to track that bastard down, and I'm going to kill him." Seward said.

Lucy was taken aback by the malice in Seward's voice. The Seward she knew would never hunt someone down and try to kill them. She should know, she and Seward had been friends since childhood. "The boy I knew would never bear such intent." Lucy said. "The boy you knew was weak. The boy you knew was stuck looking after a woman who will never love him while his men were being murdered!" Seward said before storming away.

"What happened to you?" Lucy asked under her breath. "He's been stricken by grief." Helsing said as he walked up to Lucy. "While he was in my class, I witnessed another side of him. A side that he never showed to you. The vengeful man you see has always been there, he was just never given any reason to show his true colors to you. I remember when another student broke Seward's leg in a horrible accident. The second Seward's leg was healed, the two wound up in jail for a fight that Seward started. However, I saw his potential, and I exploited some favors a few people owed me to ensure his future." Helsing said.

"Really?" Lucy asked. "Yes. I know his patient committed an absolutely heinous act, but it pains me to see Seward stoop down to such lows, giving into his wrath. He actually left this with me." Helsing said as he handed Seward's crucifix necklace to Lucy, which earned a disappointed sigh from Lucy.

Then, Helsing held up a reef of garlic buds. "I know this will sound foolish, but wear this around your neck while sleeping, please." Helsing requested. "Oh… of course, Mr. Helsing." Lucy said before taking the reef.

That night:

Seward made his way into the Abbey, where he suspected that Renfield had gone to hide out. He pulled back the bolt on his rifle to chamber a round. "Emerge you coward! I know you're here, and I'm not afraid of you!"

Then, Seward heard loud cackling. "Ahahahahaha!" Seward frantically looked around as he heard a guttural voice speak to him. "Such a fool. Did you really think I'd let you hurt my servant?" the voice asked.

"Who are you?!" Seward asked. "I know all the games you played with Renfield, how one of your filthy coworkers shot his hand with an arrow. How barbaric! The asylum wasn't even supplied with guns? You really are an idiot for coming here. You may have escaped last time, but this time, let's just say I found my dinner." the voice said before Seward looked up and saw Dracula standing atop one of the walls in his gargoyle-like form.

Then, Renfield rushed out of hiding, and threw a brick at Seward's right knee, disabling him. Dracula proceeded to dive down, grab Seward, and throw Seward through the pews of the abbey, and Seward hit the wall, breaking his left arm.

"Gahhhhh!" Seward screamed out in pain before Renfield dragged him over to Dracula, and Dracula changed into his human form, clothes manifesting on him. He proceeded to kneel down before Seward. "Any last words?" Dracula asked.

Seward grunted in pain before looking Dracula dead in the eyes. "Stay away from Lucy." Seward ordered. Dracula looked at him in disgust at being given such an order, or an order at all. "Personally, I would've chosen more wisely." Dracula said before biting Seward's neck, and sucking his blood out, before tearing Seward's head off.

"I never wanna put up with a vampirical version of that man." Dracula said. "Master, I suggest you carry out the plan for tonight." Renfield suggested. "Ah yes, but of course." Dracula said before changing back into his gargoyle-like form and flying away.

Later that night:

Lucy's mother entered Lucy's room after hearing her daughter's screams of terror. "What's wrong, honey?! Oh my god!" Lucy's mother exclaimed at the sight of Dracula at the window. However, Dracula didn't break in, most likely deterred by the reef of garlic buds that Lucy wore around her neck.

Then, Dracula fled. Mina and Ada watched from the roof of the house. "We gotta get down there!" Ada said. "Wait!" Mina shouted as the escaped wolf by the name of Berserker rushed over to the window of Lucy's bedroom.

"Are you okay?" Lucy's mother asked Lucy, one hand gripping the reef of garlic buds out of paranoia. Then, Berserker burst through the window, triggering a heart attack in Lucy's mother. Lucy's mother fell to the ground, pulling the reef off of Lucy with her.

As Berserker tried entering the room, a branch was thrown at him, and he fell to the ground. Lucy looked out the window, and saw Berserker getting up, and turning to look at Ada, who picked up another branch. "Mina, break into the tool shed, and grab the lever-action." Ada ordered. "Got it." Mina said before running behind the house to get to the tool shed. "Lucy, keep a hold of that garlic!" Ada shouted. "Understood!" Lucy shouted back before grabbing the garlic, and dropping to her knees, crying before her dead mother's corpse.

Dracula watched from the shadows, and Renfield whispered into his ear. "We can end this now." Renfield said. "No, I'm having too much fun. I want the blonde up in the bedroom to die first. I wanna break Ada's spirits. This is very entertaining." Dracula said. "Is Ada your main target?" Renfield asked. "Yes, yes she is." Dracula said.

Berserker proceeded to rush towards Ada, and she dove out of the way, before getting up and swinging the branch at Berserker's head. Berserker slowly got up, and howled, before running towards Ada. Then, Berserker was shot down, and Mina rushed towards the wounded canine, which whimpered in pain as it bled out.

"You might as well just… you know… put the poor thing out of its misery." Ada said. Mina complied, aiming, and shooting Berserker in the head.

"Is Helsing close enough to make a phone call?" Mina asked. "Yeah, he told me where in town he's staying, and he gave me the inn's phone number. Mina handed the bolt-action Ada, and the couple ran inside. Mina went upstairs to comfort Lucy, while Ada ran over to the telephone, dialing the number to the telephone at the inn where Helsing was staying. "Come on, pick up." Ada pleaded under her breath.

Meanwhile: Helsing was sitting in the lounge of the inn he was staying at, playing a card game with a couple of drunk strangers, when the phone rang. The innkeeper picked up the phone. "Hello?" Ada heard the innkeeper's voice and spoke. "I need you to put me on the line with Van Helsing." she said. "Very well then." the innkeeper complied.

"I have a call for Van Helsing." the innkeeper said. "It's for me." Helsing said, taking the telephone's ear piece out of the innkeeper's hands. "Who is this?" Helsing asked. "It's me, Ada. Lucy's room was attacked, and her mother is dead. We need as many people here to protect Lucy as possible." Ada said.

"Understood, I shouldn't be long." Helsing said before hanging up and swiftly grabbing his supplies from his room, before leaving the inn.

Eventually, Helsing arrived at Lucy's house, and he went inside. Mina and Lucy had laid Lucy's mother on the couch, and covered her with a blanket, but Ada and Helsing seemed rather unphased by the tragedy. "Alright, Lucy will be sleeping in the guest room tonight. Helsing make a cup of coffee, you're gonna pull an all nighter to make sure she doesn't start dying again. Mina and I will take shifts guarding the house." Ada said.

"Okay, I can do that." Helsing said before going into the kitchen to make a cup of coffee. Then, Mina rushed outside. "Mina, wait!" Ada shouted as she followed her.

Ada rushed out onto the porch where Mina was crying. "Mina, what's wrong?" Ada asked. "This was supposed to be a nice, normal trip. But during our time here, I've learned that my best friend is dead, Lucy's been at risk of dying for too long now, it seems Seward has abandoned us, since he'd normally be here for Lucy, and Lucy's mom is dead! Everything's so stressful. I just wanna go back home. I just wanna turn back time and pretend like none of this happened, even if it means marrying Jonathan and us not being together. I just want my life back!" Mina cried.

Then, Ada hugged Mina tightly. "Mina… I'm not gonna lie and say it's okay, but we'll get through this. I promise. And once this is all over, once evil is slain, we can return home, and try to figure things out." Ada reassured. "The Carfax abbey. Dracula must be hiding in the basement. Vampires sleep during the day, right?" Mina asked. "Yeah, but we can't go and kill Dracula, not yet. We need to be here for Lucy as much as possible. We need as many people available for blood transfusions as possible. Helsing sent a telegram to experts, and they're set to arrive soon. Once they arrive, we can go and kill Dracula." Ada said. "Okay." Mina agreed.

Later that night:

Mina was sitting outside, standing guard. Helsing was upstairs, watching Lucy, and Ada was sitting in the living room, staring at the corpse of Lucy's dead mother. "You were never in the right for the insensitive things you said, but I don't know why I took it all so personally." Ada said.

Little did she know, Mina could hear her through a cracked open window on the porch. "I just… I guess that… when you made me out to be a bad person, or… all the times you made me out to be a bad person, I got so mad because I think I'm a bad person sometimes. I've never told this to anyone, but since you're dead… my family hated me the second I chose to leave them, 'cause… I was leaving them to deal with Dracula without me, and now they're probably dead because of me." Ada said.

Mina couldn't help but sympathize with her partner. She just wished Ada would have told her that on purpose, but she understood why Ada wouldn't tell her. And so, the night went on.

A/N: Holy fuck! This chapter took forever for me to write. Anyways, I hope you all enjoyed this chapter. Chapter 12 should be released next weekend. Bye!
