T'Pol stepped into the bathroom, trying not to think about what happened this past weekend. She didn't glance at the corner where the miscarriage happened. She didn't think about the towel that she lost. After she cried in the shower for an hour, she told herself that she had to be strong because she had two babies who needed her. Their father wasn't around. T'Pol had called Phlox the next day and told him what happened. He had come over to check and on T'Pol and took the towel away. He told her things like this happened and that she had two healthy pregnancies. He also told her that she would be able to have more babies when the time was right. T'Pol didn't have the heart to tell Phlox that Tripp was missing, and they didn't know where he was or if he was going to make it home to her and the children.
T'Pol finished up in the bathroom before heading out. She still had to get the children ready for their first day of school. It was also her first day at the academy. She wasn't teaching yet but was getting ready for her classes. This was the first time that she would be away from the children since they been back to Earth.
"Are you ready for school today?" T'Pol asked the children as they ate their food. Charlie nodded with a toothy smile. T'Mir just kept eating her food. T'Pol ran a hand over Charlie's blond hair. It reminded her so much of his father's. Every day, Charlie looked more like his father. It was going to be hard to watch him grow up when Tripp wasn't around. T'Pol could hear people telling her that Charlie looked so much as Tripp. T'Pol took a breath because Tripp could still be found and make it back to them. He could see his children growing up. "Are let's finish up," T'Pol started to clean up T'Mir as Charlie finished his breakfast.
T'Pol entered her new office and looked around. There was a desk with one chair behind it and two in front of it. Behind the desk was a window that looked out to the San Francisco skyline. On the other side of the door were three bookcases that were empty. T'Pol closed the door and saw that nothing was on the wall behind the door. She made her way across the room to her desk and took a seat. She set her bag behind her. There was nothing on the desk. T'Pol folded her hands in front of her and thought about her children.
When she was dropping them off at daycare, T'Mir ran into the room right away. She didn't even notice that T'Pol was watching her for a moment to make sure that everything was okay with her. T'Mir didn't even look back, T'Pol saw that her daughter was growing up. She sighed before taking Charlie to his new class. Charlie was different, he held on to her leg not wanting to let go. It took T'Pol and the teacher to take him from her. Charlie stood there crying while T'Pol walked away. She hoped that everything was okay now that she left. Maybe she needed a picture of the children on her desk.
There was a knock on the door that had T'Pol looking up and stop thinking about her children. "Hello, Commander T'Pol," It was the head of science department, Commander Bryan Tyson. He was the one who contacted her for the job here. He had known that Enterprise was retiring and asked her if she wanted to teach at the academy. It was the perfect job because Tripp and she decided to stay on Earth to raise their children. "How are you settling in?" He smiled at her.
"I just got here," T'Pol stated.
Commander Tyson looked around her office. "I hope that you find time to decorate your office."
"I will, sir," T'Pol followed Commander Tyson. His hair was dark but there was white at his temples. It gave him an intelligent look. His eyes were dark brown, she felt that those eyes had melted many hearts in his day.
"Settle in," Commander Tyson headed for the door. "I will see you tomorrow at the meeting," T'Pol nodded. She watched Commander Tyson leave her office. She wondered if he wanted more out of her, but she didn't have a lot to say. She took out a PADD and started to work on her lesson plans for her classes.
T'Pol walked down the street with Charlie and T'Mir on their way home. T'Pol had one ear to Charlie who was telling her all about his day. According to his teachers, once she left Charlie was fine and he played with the other children. T'Pol was glad for him. T'Mir had no problem playing with the other children in her class. She came up to T'Pol with a new friend. She gave T'Pol the girl's name. T'Pol was glad that her children were making friends and were getting along with children their own age.
As they were walking down the street, T'Pol felt that someone was watching them. She looked around and saw no one there. She held a little tighter to her children's hands as they walked to their house. They stopped in front of their house; Charlie was pulling her to the door so they could get in. T'Pol felt something prickling at the back of her neck. She looked around and saw that someone was watching them from the other side of the street. It looked like a young woman who was watching them. T'Pol let go of Charlie's hand and he ran up the stairs to their front door. T'Pol picked up T'Mir and made her way to the front door. She punched in the code to get into the house. Charlie ran to his toys on the other side of the room and T'Mir followed him as soon as T'Pol set her down.
T'Pol slowly closed the door and saw that the woman was still watching them. T'Pol closed the door. She didn't know if there was something to do. She didn't know if she should call the police and tell them about the woman watching her family. T'Pol made sure that the door was locked so this woman wouldn't harm her or her children. She looked through the curtains to see that the woman was still there. T'Pol hoped that the woman would leave. She was a woman alone with two young children. She was strong and do anything to protect herself and her children. T'Pol watched the woman until she heard.
"Mama, I'm hungry," T'Pol turned to see Charlie standing there.
T'Pol took a breath before pushing Charlie away from the door. "I'm going to make dinner soon," T'Pol walked away from the door. "Go and play," Charlie nodded. T'Pol went to the kitchen to make dinner for herself and her children.
T'Pol was cleaning up after dinner when she heard the doorbell. The children looked up from the couch where they were playing. T'Pol wiped her hands on a towel before making her to the door. She hoped that it wasn't the woman that was watching her house. She opened the door to a Vulcan woman. She looked familiar but T'Pol couldn't place her. Maybe she was from the Vulcan Compound.
"How can I help you?" T'Pol asked. She took a quick glance to see that the woman watching her house was gone. She looked back at the woman.
"I do not know if you remember me, Commander T'Pol, but I am Fir," The Vulcan woman said.
"I'm sorry that I can't place you," T'Pol said.
"Maybe we can step inside," Fir stated. T'Pol looked down the street to make sure that the woman watching her house wasn't there before opening the door to let Fir in. "Is something the problem?"
"No, please come in," T'Pol let Fir in. Fir looked around the house as T'Pol closed the door.
Fir's eyes landed on the children. "They have grown a lot since the last time I saw them."
"You know my children," T'Pol glanced at her children. She hoped that this woman wouldn't harm her or her children.
"Yes, I do not know if you remember when your children were kidnapped by Jodaal," Fir looked away from the children and at T'Pol. T'Pol closed her eyes and didn't want to think about that time when someone had her babies. "I was the Vulcan woman with him."
"Please get out of my house," T'Pol said in a calm voice. She didn't want to yell at the woman to leave and have her children wonder what was going on.
"Please hear me out, Mrs. Tucker," Fir used T'Pol married name. It wasn't something that most Vulcans used on her. They either called her T'Pol or Commander T'Pol. The only people who called her Mrs. Tucker were humans and her children were around.
"No," T'Pol opened the door for her to leave. "My husband and I don't want you to run random tests on our children so you can figure out how to get Vulcan/human children."
Fir headed for the door. "There are other couples out there that want to know how you did, and they want their own children," She stopped at the door. "You and Mr. Tucker have the longest surviving child," Fir glanced at Charlie.
"I'm sorry, but I am not letting anyone touch my children and before we had our own, we decided to adopt both Vulcan and human children and raise them together," T'Pol said. It was the only information she was going to give. She wasn't going to tell them about how she and Tripp had their children. "It is time you left," T'Pol held the door opened a little more.
Fir knew when she was beaten. "Thank you for time, Commander T'Pol," Fir went through the door and T'Pol closed the door behind her. T'Pol didn't get a chance to see if that woman was watching them across the street.
T'Pol leaned against the door for a moment before going to finish cleaning the kitchen so she could get the children ready for bed.
The doorbell rang, T'Pol looked over at the door. It was Saturday and she and the children had just finished their first week at school. Classes started for T'Pol next week and the children were taking to go to daycare. Charlie had told her last night about a friend that he had made. T'Pol couldn't be happier for him. T'Mir was doing good for her age.
T'Pol glanced at the children to see that they were still playing in the backyard. She got up and went to the door. She opened the door a little to see Jonathan Archer standing on the other side of the door. She opened the door fully. "Captain," She said. T'Pol had heard that he was busy with the new federation.
"It has been a while since I was called captain," Jonathan laughed.
"Come in," T'Pol opened the door fully for him. "What can I do for you?"
"I just came to see how an old friend was doing," Jonathan stepped into the house. T'Pol glanced out and saw that the woman was standing across the street again. She was there every time that she came home with the children. T'Pol tried not to let it bother her. She was ready to close the door behind Jonathan when she decided on something.
"Excuse for a moment," T'Pol stepped outside. "Please watch the children for a moment," She didn't see Jonathan nodded as she closed the door.
T'Pol made her way down the stairs to the sidewalk, she looked both ways before crossing the street. The woman saw her and tried to run, but T'Pol stopped her with a hand on her arm. "Who are you and what are you doing watching my home?"
"What did you do with him?" The woman asked. She didn't answer T'Pol's question. T'Pol didn't answer her. She knew how to play this game. The woman was young and wouldn't know how to play this game. "What did you do with your husband?" The woman hissed. T'Pol still didn't answer her. "He hasn't written to me in while." The woman shouted.
T'Pol knew who this woman was. This was Cadet Sullivan; she was an engineering student at the academy and Tripp was mentoring her. T'Pol didn't think that Cadet Sullivan was interested in engineering like Tripp thought. T'Pol felt that there was something more going on. "You are going to leave me and my family alone. If you don't, I will contact the authorities," T'Pol let her go and Cadet Sullivan ran a hand over her arm where T'Pol held her. T'Pol looked both ways before crossing the street again.
"You can't keep me away from him," Cadet Sullivan yelled from across the street when T'Pol got across the street. T'Pol ignore her and went back in her house to her guest and children.
