Roanapur Nights
A RosarioVampire and Black Lagoon Crossover
Chapter 24
The inside of the apartment was magnificent. Her own apartment had been beyond expectation, but the apartment that Tsukune was inside was one that Moka could barely comprehend. It was lavish with fantastic art, signs of expensive furniture laid throughout the rooms, and of course there was Tsukune himself. He looked at her, his eyes questioning why she was here. She wasn't sure how to explain her reasoning. How did she explain that she wanted to apologize again, that she was sorry for what had happened, that she would accept any punishment he had, and that she wanted him to heal.
How could she tell him that she hated herself so much for hurting him? How did she explain that sex with Gin was lackluster? That it was nothing more than animalistic fucking, and not exceptionally good at that? No, she couldn't say that. She couldn't let him know that what she experienced was worthless. Not because of her pride, but because she felt that doing so would further hurt him. She breathed out, "Tsukune, please," she began before she heard a growl. It was low, dangerous, and promised pain, "Please, I need to apologize."
"Apologize?" came the growling question, and she looked to see Kurumu in her succubus form, her nails long, her eyes glowing red, and her tail lashing back and forth, "Apologize?!"
She didn't get a single step into the room before Kurumu stood before her, "You had the single greatest man that we could ever know, you hogged him, like some spoiled little girl, and then you went and fucked that pervert to teach him a lesson?!" she shouted, causing Moka to back up slightly, "I didn't say more because we were dealing with a lot of births, and because you were witnessing your entire marriage implode. You were dealing with the loss of everything, and I wanted to give you some peace, but really, you come here with the audacity to claim that you're sorry?"
She looked at her, "How dare you even stand in front of the apartment he's using," she growled, "If Tsukune wanted to raise my children around his human family I'd do it. I'd happily do it, and if for some reason I had a problem with it I would, oh I don't know, maybe fucking talk to him!"
Moke stood there, taking the verbal lashing, and she did so because she felt it was deserved, "Kurumu, please," she said before she felt the slap. It was hard, and it caused her to blink in surprise, "We succubi, when we find our destined ones, we don't go fucking around. We don't jump into the beds of others, and instead we give them ourselves completely. We treat them as the loves of our lives because that's what they are."
She stared at her, "I've never been so glad in my life that you're not one of us," she spat, causing Moka to blink back tears, "You threw away your marriage, you threw away your love, and you did it for what I hope was better than mediocre dick, but I seriously doubt it."
Moke found herself unable to speak, and instead she felt her knees go weak. Kurumu was destroying her, and doing it completely. She felt herself wanting to cry, and her inner self wasn't even trying to talk. It was like the vampire she was supposed to be refused to even engage. She had completely destroyed everything, and there was nothing that could be done about it.
She blinked, her eyes finally moving to Tsukune, and she hoped to see the same love she'd seen so many times. She hoped that he would be looking at her in love, that he would be the well of understanding that he had always been, but instead he looked concerned. She didn't see love, but instead she saw pity, concern, she saw someone that cared for her, but didn't love her. She wanted to tell him that every piece of her cried out for him, but she realized that it was too late.
"Tsukune," she said, her voice cracking, "I'm sorry," she barely got out, "I'm so sorry, I really am. I wish that I could go back, change it, stop it, keep it from happening, but I can't. I can't undo what I did."
She breathed slowly, "I'm so, so, so sorry," she said, her voice breaking hard, "I'd do anything to make it up to you, I really would, but it wouldn't change anything, would it?"
He continued to look at her, "Moka," he said, gently touching Kurumu and causing her to move back into the apartment, "I loved you," he said softly, "I loved you so much, and I gave you everything. I didn't hold anything back. When you ended us, when you did what you did, it destroyed me. Kurumu, Ruby, Mizore, Yukari, and Ling Ling helped me to pick up the pieces again. I needed my friends, and they helped me."
She sniffed, "I'm sorry," she said, her voice breaking, "Please, I'll wait forever, I really will, but do you hate me?"
He shook his head, "No," he said as he shook his head, "Moka I don't hate you. I care for you, but I don't love you. Not like that, not anymore. I'm hurt, and when I think about what happened, I want to scream and tear my eyes and hair out. I want to ask why you'd go to such lengths to destroy me like that."
She looked at him, her eyes wide, "It wasn't supposed to be like that. You were supposed to stop me, to tell me to stop, to tell me that you'd agree with me, or at least stop me from going with him, you weren't supposed to just let me go in there!"
The voice was on the verge of panic, "You were supposed to protect me!"
Ling Ling felt the power rising, and she began to ready the wards. She was ready to step in. Moka was a guest, but she was acting unhinged. There was little doubt that she was going to lash out at this point. She was prepared to stop her, and she would deal with the fallout afterward. She would protect those she cared for, her people, and of course Tsukune, and she would suffer his wrath later. Instead she didn't need to. The shadows parted around Moka for a second, and two arms reached out.
Ling Ling looked at Rock as he formed. He held Moka, keeping her from lashing out, and holding her in place. His face was serious, something she'd come to know, but she noticed that he wasn't dressed in his normal business casual wear. His clothes looked more along the lines of just casual. It was surprising to see him dressed so relaxed. He held Moka still for a moment, and she knew the power difference between them.
If Moka was acting at full strength she could have easily ripped away from Rock. He was strong, powerful, but not infinitely so. But Moka wasn't at full strength. Instead he was able to hold her, and she heard running footsteps, "Rocky baby, what's going on?" came the voice of his wife Revy, "Oh, lover's fight, huh?"
Ling Ling looked at her, "Something similar to that," she admitted after a moment, "They are going through a divorce, and she is upset."
Moka finally went slack, "Please," she said, her voice sounding broken, "Please, let me make it up, please…"
Rock looked at Tsukune who nodded. He released her, and Moka sank to the floor. Her chest heaved as she began to cry. There was no stopping the deluge that had decided to escape her eyes. Her tears had come, and while he was sure that likely felt that she had cried out everything before, he could tell that it would take a while for her to collect herself. Tsukune seemed to watch, and finally he stepped forward, picked her up, and Rock watched as the woman wrapped her arms around him in what could only be called a desperate attempt to hold onto him.
"Thank you for your help," Tsukune said as he looked at him, "I mean it, thank you."
Rock nodded, "It's no trouble," he replied, "Do you need us to hang around for a moment?"
Tsukune shook his head, "I'm going to get her something to drink, let her settle down, and then send her back to her room," he said as he stood there, "I can't just leave her out here like this. It wouldn't be right."
With that stepped into the apartment, and Rock watched them. He watched as Ling Ling seemed to study them for a moment, "I shall accompany them," she stated, "There might be a reason for me to step in."
After she stepped in, and the door closed, Rock felt Revy's arms around his waist, "So, I'm guessing that she's the one that fucked up the marriage," she said, as she stood there, "I remember hearing about it, back when we were giving them a ride."
He nodded, "I do as well," he replied, "And likely, yes, I'm sure that was the cause. I'm glad that neither of us would do that."
She kissed him, "Rocky baby," she said, her voice practically a purr, "I've got you and I'm not letting go. I wouldn't fuck that up for anything, especially some mediocre dick."
She laughed a little, "I've got to admit, I didn't expect to have heard that line, but damn was it funny!"
He smiled at her, "So, are we still on for to going to Tao's?"
She nodded, "Just try and stop me," she replied as she stretched, "A good spicy burrito, some decent drinks, and a little hot sauce sounds amazing. Plus, we need to do a little shopping for Roxy. I noticed that her clothes look a little worn out, and we can't have running around in rags. She's not one of those little pickpockets that wander the streets."
He nodded, "I agree," he replied as they started to walk, "So, Cassandra told me that you met another monster in the area, apparently a dullahan, is that right?"
Revy stopped for a moment, "Yeah," she admitted after a moment, "She's hunting Chang specifically. However, we still need to get around his cyborg hired bodyguard."
Rock looked at her and nodded, "She's dangerous," he admitted after a moment, "I mean really dangerous, and that could mean some serious trouble for us."
He wasn't just trying to say something. He had been serious about her. From what he could tell she was as dangerous as they came. The last thing he wanted was for something to happen to Revy. Sure, Roanapur was the city of the living dead. It was the place that everyone who chose to lived there understood they were one bullet away from death at any time. Revy had expressed this multiple times to him before.
"I know we have to deal with her," he said, his voice even, "But I want to make sure that we do it in a smart way. I don't want anything to happen to you."
She gave a nod, "Think that Ling Ling will still have the Huang Family help us?"
He shrugged, "I'm not sure," he admitted after a moment, "I mean I could see her helping us, but at the same time she has to consider the vacuum that has been created by Chang's departure from the Triads. Right now they're doing their best to stay in their seat of power, but it's slowly fracturing. Before long it's going to crumble, and when it does it will free up territory for the others."
She grinned, "The Huang family could use that territory to establish themselves further."
He nodded, "Exactly," he replied, "It would be a way of ensuring that they were able to stay established, and more than that it would give them the chance to mold the city to their liking. All in all it wouldn't be a bad idea."
She shook her head as they walked together back toward the elevator. Sure, they'd been warned about using them in case of an attack, but for the moment things were pretty peaceful. The two of them got into the elevator, and Revy selected the first floor. She'd made the mistake of going to the basement once. Ling Ling and Fang Fang ran a strong operation, but the basement had something that she'd seen a few times.
A large room, designed like a shower room. Completely tiled, with a large drain in the middle. It was something that she'd seen once, and something she had no intention of seeing again. The killing room was something to be avoided. Ling Ling had explained that while it was rarely used it was used. They used it for those who would attempt to assassinate Fang Fang or willingly hurt a trusted ally.
"So, what sounds good at Tao's?" Rock asked, "I know that you want a burrito, but do you have your heart set on a certain one?"
She laughed, knowing that he was doing his job again. He was every bit her shield, and she would remain his sword. Those that dared to lash out against him would be cut down, "I'm thinking of the Spicy Beef, add some beans, and maybe have Tao make it into a supreme. A little sourcream isn't going to kill me."
Rock nodded as they reached the first floor. The doors opened and they stepped out. The two of them began to move toward the doors, and they were buzzed out. They walked out onto the street, and Revy looked at the normal flow of people going about their business. The little pickpockets were hitting those who weren't paying attention. Each of them were getting closer and closer to what was going to be their end.
Maybe it would be something like stealing from the wrong person, or maybe some rich asshole with a hard-on for torture porn would have one snatched up. Since having Roxanne that was one that she wanted to see stopped completely. Sure, as a decent human being she realized that she shouldn't want it to happen at all. The problem was that she wasn't a decent human being, and she had known that for sometime.
The one thing that made her act more like a decent human being was being a mother and a wife. Roxanne, her little Roxy, and Rokurō, her Rocky Baby, were her entire world. They were the reasons she got up in the fucking morning, and they were the reasons she lived. If something happened to either of them then she would personally find the piece of shit that did whatever the fuck it was, and she'd escort them directly to the gates of hell.
That was something else she'd come to accept. It was obvious that there was a life after death. Ling Ling and those twins were proof of that. If there was something after death, and she was certain that there was now, then it likely meant that there was a hell too. That actually gave her a lot of peace. It did because her dad was likely roasting there for the shit he'd done and let happen to her. She could accept going if it meant taking the one that hurt what she considered hers there with her.
"Revy?"
She shook her head, "Sorry Rocky Baby," she replied after a moment, "I was just thinking about a few things."
She saw the exterior of Tao's and she realized just how long she'd been stuck inside of her own head, "I didn't mean to ignore you this entire time. I just had a few thoughts that I needed sorted out. You know."
He nodded, "Sure," he replied, "Let's get some Tao's, and then we'll take care of everything else a little later, right?"
She nodded, and the two of them walked inside. The smell was something that she loved. The spicy smell of beef and beans hung in the air. Tao's was the kind of place that a person went to get a good meal. It wasn't a fancy sit down restaurant. Instead it was the kind of place that a person went to when they knew what the good food was, and they were cool with either standing and eating it, eating at a table outside, or getting back to their place and eating.
The thing was that Tao's burritos were the best when they were eaten fresh. Sure, they still kicked major ass after they cooled back down, but that moment of biting into a burrito, feeling the hot grease spill into her mouth, letting it hit her tongue with the mixture of spices and perfectly cooked beef was a moment of pure heaven. They walked up toward the counter and she saw Tao himself.
The old man was looking far older than he had in recent years. She knew that his business was one of the few in Roanapur that maintained a sense of neutrality. He stated that he didn't care who ate there. The only rules were that all trouble remained outside, and that all alliances did the same. For the most part the people of Roanapur followed his small set of rules.
No one brought trouble into Taos intentionally, and for that he kept his prices low. Well, he kept them low and kept the food up to the same standard. They stepped forward and she took in every aspect of the counter before. It was the same, right down to the worn-out spots on the countertop. The places where food had been placed time after time, and they had been removed by hungry customers.
"Rock, Revy," Tao said, his normally deep voice sounded especially tired today, "What can I get you? A couple of number fives?"
Revy nodded, "Yeah, a number five, and plenty of hot sauce," she replied as she watched him work behind the counter, "How's life treating you Tao?"
There was a slight chuckle, "Living the dream," he said, his voice holding no real mirth, "Same as always, I suppose. Had a little trouble earlier though."
Revy stood there and took a moment, "Wait, trouble?" she asked, her voice twinged with anger, "Tao, did someone break the fuckin' rule?"
He shrugged, "Not exactly," he replied as he worked, "It all happened outside, which is what the rule is. Nothing inside. Everyone knows that. All trouble is to remain outside of the store. Well, it happened outside, and some of it managed to find its way past the outside to just barely inside."
He pointed toward the wall, and Revy saw the hold that was there. Seeing a bullet hole in a building in Roanapur was like seeing a fly on the wall. It was expected. The biggest difference was that it didn't happen at Tao's. It never happened at Tao's. She took a breath, "So, who did it?"
He looked back at her, "Someone came looking for Chang," he replied as he cooked, "They know that Tao's is a neutral place. As long as someone is inside then there is no trouble. They waited for one of the men that worked close with him, not a Triad like him, but one of his contacts. He stepped out, they asked where Chang was, and then he refused to answer. There was a fight, the one that had asked shot and killed the contact, and the bullet came in and struck Chun."
Revy shook her head, "Is she okay?"
Tao shrugged, "Had the ambulance come, take her, and rush her to the hospital. I haven't heard since."
Revy shook her head, "Damn, I'm sorry to hear it. If you need anything, let me know."
He nodded, "Sure," he said before he turned and brought over their orders, "Two number fives. Thanks for listening."
She watched as he walked back, and she could see the slight missteps. There was little doubt in her mind at this moment. Tao was lost without Chun. And Chang, regardless of how remotely, had caused it. That clinched it in her mind. He was getting brought to his former bosses, and she was damned sure going to make sure that he was handled.
No one fucked with her spicy burrito.
