"You don't think this dress makes my butt look big?" Eris asked Buffy and Willow as she patted down the wrinkles on the dress she was wearing. It was a soft blue dress, only reaching just above her knees and had simple straps, it wasn't overly fancy but she was pairing it with the usual heals and high end purse.
"Eris, your butt makes your butt look big," Buffy shot back from the left of Eris, they were all walking to the café that Graham had asked to meet, "that's why guys find you so attractive."
"You look great Eris, Graham will be all googly eyes when he sees you," Willow said chipperly, a big grin had stretched across her face, "and he seems like a nice guy so maybe one night stand will be off the table."
"That's if this goes well, but it would be nice to stop sleeping around," Eris smiled at the thought, something stable.
"That means no British guy Eris," Buffy warned in a joking manner as she waggled her finger like a scolding mother.
"British guy? What British guy?"
"She's been sleeping with a random guy for a while now, Willow. But she doesn't want to date him."
"Some people are not for dating Buffy," Eris shook her head, "neither of us are wanting a romance from this, it's a transaction."
Buffy snorted, "well if you end up dating Graham then that transaction has to end."
"You're right, and it will, I'm not a two timer," they all slowed to a stop across the street from the café, they could see Graham inside, sitting at a table waiting for her, "this is it, wish me luck!"
"Good luck, meet us at the bronze later for all the juicy gossip," Willow said before she followed Buffy in another direction, leaving the ravenette to the date.
Eris stepped inside, nerves all fluttery yet excited, she hoped she wasn't too weird or too high maintenance, the last thing she wanted was to scare the guy away, though she was not sure she could, he always seems so hard faced.
Graham had finally noticed her and stood up from the booth he was sitting at, and as she walked over, she took in how nice he had scrubbed up. Nice shirt, great leg hugging pants, real attractive looking, "hi Graham, thanks for waiting for me," Eris said when she got to the booth.
"No problem and, wow, you look beautiful," he motioned for her to slide into the other side of the booth, "though I'm surprised you aren't dressed to the nines, I've noticed that's your preferred aesthetic."
Eris chuckled at that, "keen eye, I do like to wear brand clothing, but I thought for a date I should dress a little differently."
"I think you look great no matter what you wear, though I do really like this dress."
"Thank you," she said with a soft smile as a waitress came over to take their orders. Graham ordered a Long Black and club sandwich, and Eris ordered a Mocha and blueberry muffin, she knew guys like to see a girl eat but she also wanted to make sure she ate food that did make her breath stink or leave weird colours in her teeth.
"I'll pay," Graham offered as he grabbed his wallet and handed the waitress the cash.
"You don't have to; I can pay for my own."
"I'm ok to, I'd like to treat you."
"That's very sweet of you, thank you," the muffin was brought to the table as it was premade, but Eris set it to the side to wait for all of the order to arrive before eating.
"Of course, it's a gentlemen's job to treat a beautiful lady such as yourself," she giggled at his flirt, "but this gentleman would also like to know a bit about you, if you're willing to share?"
"I'm happy to," she gave a sweet smile before speaking, "I'm an only child who was raised by my mother, father was gone before I was born. I lived in LA for all my life and only just moved a few months ago, umm, my favourite colour is red, I like all animals, love to party and go out, uhhh, what else, oh, my favourite food is carbonara and my favourite drink is a strawberry milkshake."
"That's a lot of information to retain all at once," Graham said with a chuckle as he looked at Eris' sheepish expression, "luckily I have a fantastic memory."
"Sorry, didn't mean to say a monologue," she said with a slight blush on her cheeks, "what about you?"
"Me? Raised by both parents, I have a sister but she lives far away from here so I don't see her often. Parents travel a lot so I've never really settled till now. I like dogs, specifically German Shepards, I like my coffee black and a simple cheese sandwich."
"You are quite straight to the point, I like it," the rest of the order arrived shortly after Graham finished speaking, which allowed Eris to finally take a bite of that delicious muffin that was so worth the wait, "have you been all over the world with your parents or just America?"
"Just America, but I'm sure I'll travel the world someday, would be nice to see other cultures or history," he took a sip of his coffee before continuing, "have you ever wanted to travel?"
"Not really. I mean I love some countries history but I'm not sure if I'd want to go overseas, but maybe I just need the right people to go explore with."
"I wouldn't be apposed to having you join me if I decide on a holiday."
"Deal," they both took a moment to eat some more of their food so it wouldn't get stale or cold, "besides travel, what do you like to do in America, specifically after classes?"
He seemed to hesitate for a moment, but it went unnoticed by Eris, "usually I stay inside my dorm, but sometimes some of the guys in my dorm house like to go out so I tag along. What about you?"
She also hesitated for a moment since she couldn't reveal her vampire killing or vampire fucking activities, though unlike her, Graham had noticed but chose not to comment, "I'm not really one to stay inside if I can help it, I like to go out and party, hang with friends or spend time with my cousin."
"Your cousin is the blonde girl you sit with in Psych class right?" she nodded, "she seems nice, though I remember her looking very out of place in our first week of classes."
Eris snorted at that, "yeah, she wasn't quite prepared for life outside of highschool, though not many people are. She's settling in much better now I think, still has some bouts of nervousness but its better."
"I'm glad to hear it, and what about you? How have you been settling in?"
"Pretty well, though as you know I struggle with the workload of classes."
"I'm sure you'll get better with that in time, its starts becoming second nature once you've done a semester, even earlier if you're lucky."
"I definitely would love some luck, the sooner the better, I worry about being one of those mid semesters dropouts."
"I don't think you will be, and I'm happy to help out where needed, especially in our shared classes."
"You are a really sweet guy Graham, it's refreshing."
"It doesn't take much to be kind, I enjoy helping out when people need it."
"No wonder most of the girls in our classes eye you up with sparkly eyes."
"I try not to notice," he said with a chuckle, "you've never looked at me with sparkly eyes, yet you're the one on the date with me."
"I don't need to be starstruck to find someone attractive."
"You find me attractive?" he asked cheekily.
"Most definitely, I wouldn't be on this date if I didn't"
"I'm glad."
They spent the rest of the date asking each other questions about their lives and about college life. Both letting time pass by as they enjoyed each other's company.
Buffy and Willow were sitting in the Bronze at the closest table to the stage so they could listen to the band. Oz's band had been lucky to play on one of the busier nights for the club, which of course Willow was excited about.
That was where Eris found them when she entered the club, as she walked over she heard them both chatting to each other excitedly, commenting on how much Oz looked like he was enjoying himself. "Hello ladies," she said loud enough for them to hear over the music.
"Eris!" Buffy said chipperly, "how did the date go?"
Eris slid into the stool next to Willow and stole a sip from Buffy's drink, "it went really well, we got to know each other a little more and he seemed really comfortable in my presence."
"Were you compatible?" Willow asked, "is it a same likes or opposite attract kind of thing?"
"Definitely opposite attracts, we don't seem to have a lot in common but I don't think we have to to get have the same likes."
"Agreed," Willow said with a enthusiastic nod as she scanned the bar. Looking over the crowd, she seemed to recognize someone and turned back to Buffy to give her a smirk, "hey look, Parker's here."
Buffy however did not look, she simply looked to her drink with a short, "yeah," in response which made the other two women have confused looks.
"You're not looking?" Willow asked, "he looks really cute in green."
"Teal," Buffy hastily corrected which made Willow give a knowing smile, "he's reflected in the mirror."
"That's cute Buff," Eris said with a snort, "you're acting like a shy school girl, haven't seen you like this since junior high."
"Sush, I don't need to remember that," Buffy shot back.
"You know," Willow began, "when you spend all week with a boy, you are allowed to look at him directly."
"Not all week," Willow and Eris raised a brow at that, "we hung out moderately incessantly, but we're not here together tonight. You know, I don't wanna crowd him."
"Riiiight…." Eris said as the band finished their last song for the night, essentially ending the conversation between the girls. "oh darn, I got here too late. I didn't get to hear all the songs."
"I'm sure they'll play here again," Willow responded as her boyfriend came over to them.
"Hey. You guys ready to load up and go?" he looked at Eris, "oh hey Eris."
"Hi."
"She got here not too long ago," Willow explained, earning a nod from Oz, "and we're almost ready to go. Buffy's looking at Parker. Who it turns out, has a reflection, so, big plus there."
"Ooh la la," Eris said as she leaned in to Willow so they could both give Buffy teasing looks.
"Buffy's having lusty wrong feelings," the witch joined in on the teasing, earning her a snort from the Slayer.
"No, I'm not"
"No, you're not."
"Oh, I so am."
"Naughty Buffy,"
"No, not naughty," Willow said in realization, "they're not wrong feelings, cause there's no wrong. You're free, you're both grown-ups. You are free, right?"
Just as Buffy was about to answer, Parker had come over and placed his hand gently on the Slayer's shoulder, "hi," he said softly, an awkward yet sweet smile gracing his handsome face.
"Hi," Buffy said just as softly, his touch had caused butterflies to start in her stomach.
"I…I just wanted to let you know I'm heading out, and its not real safe around here, so, if you, you know, walk back to your dorm…"
"How silly of me not to plan ahead," Buffy hopped up off her chair and grabbed her jacket so she could head back with Parker, trying her hardest to hide her nervousness and excitement.
The two of them said their goodbyes before they walked off, "you think she'll get lucky tonight?" Eris asked Willow and Oz once Buffy was out of earshot.
Willow giggled as she got up from her chair, "I hope so, Buffy deserves some happiness."
"Agreed," Oz replied, "we gotta grab our gear but we can head out soon, you coming back with us Eris?"
"Yeah, I can help bring things to the van if you'd like?" Oz thanked her and they quickly got to work packing everything up.
"That was, like, the best set ever," Devon, the lead singer, commented as everyone was bringing the gear to the van that was parked at the back of the club. "We'll do great in LA, we're gonna have them glued to their seats."
"Uh, Devon?" Willow asked confusedly as she handed a case to Oz, "aren't they supposed to dance?"
"Well, we can glue em to the dance floor," Oz shot back in a serious tone, though everyone knew he was joking.
"They will be too stunned by the amazingness of your band that they wont remember to dance," Eris joined in on the joking, as she placed the mic case onto the floor of the van so it could be moved to the back.
As the two men left to grab some more gear, the two girls left behind started to move things inside the van, "Willow?" they heard a female's voice say from behind them. Turning around, they saw a young girl with bleach blond hair and wearing mostly pink walk up to them.
"Harmony, hey," Willow said in surprise as she walked over to her, Eris stayed by the van, not really interested in meeting the random blonde woman. "Hey, I haven't seen you since…"
"Since graduation. Big snake, huh?" Eris remembered Buffy telling her about Sunnydale's mayor turning into an ancient worm/snake like creature intent of swallowing the world. Sounded terrifying yet Buffy had rallied the school together to fight off the vampire attack and help her to kill the creature, she was incredibly impressed and so proud of Buffy when she heard, proud of all the students and teachers who helped out as well.
"Yeah, so how was your summer vacation?" Willow asked, trying to awkwardly keep up the conversation. It had been a while since they last spoke but Harmony was one of the witch's high school bullies, that doesn't easily go away.
"Oh, well, I was gonna go to France, but I didn't, I was dying to see the stores."
"Oh and museums."
"Museums?"
"Yea, I heard they had em, you know, just a rumor you pick up on the streets," Eris cringed at Willow's awkwardness and came over in an attempt to save her.
"Right. You're always so funny, Willow," Harmony looked to Eris and did a look over before zeroing on her shirt, "no way, is that a Yves Saint Laurent shirt from the fall collection?"
Eris looked at her shirt then nodded to the blonde, "yeah, my mom got it for me for my birthday. You have a good eye."
"I love fashion, it was my dream to be a designer or model, though I could never afford the clothes."
Willow chuckled at that, "you haven't changed a bit Harmony."
Harmony's attitude changed, which made the girls feel a little off, "oh, maybe a little," before their eyes Harmony's pretty and youthful face turned into one of demonic fury, bumpy ridges curled her brow and fangs grew from her once human canines. Harmony had become a vampire.
"Shit!" Eris screamed as she was shoved to the ground and Willow was bitten by the highschool bully, "Oz! Help!" she shouted as the ginger male ran at Harmony and used a pole to pull her away from his girlfriend. Eris shot up and grabbed Willow, pulling her slightly behind her as the witch pulled out a cross.
"Back off Harmony!" Willow shouted in fear and pain as she shoved the cross towards the blonde, causing her to growl.
"Ok, fine. Hide behind your boyfriend, but guess what?" Harmony looked at them with anger and childishness, reminding them that she was never able to grow up from the highschool girl that they now realized died in the final battle for Sunnydale High, "I have a boyfriend, too, and he's gonna be mad that you were mean to me," she took one last look at the trio before running away.
Once Oz and Eris knew the woman had completely ran away, they immediately focused their attention on Willow, "are you ok?" Eris asked frantically as she looked at the bite wound, it was deep and bleeding heavily, but it didn't seem like Harmony sucked too much of the blood as Willow wasn't woozy.
"I-I'm fine, it just hurts a little," the witch touched the wound lightly and winced at the sting.
"Do you have anything we can press on its Oz?" Oz nodded to the Summer's cousin and ran to get one of the clean spare shirts he had in the back.
"Hey guys, whats up?" Devon had come back out with the final case and a worried look, he could see blood coming from Willow's neck. "Oh shit, Willow, are you ok?" he placed the case on the ground and ran over.
"A guy tried to mug Willow and I and cut her with a knife," Eris made up a quick excuse and made sure she kept the bite covered once Oz gave her the spare shirt. She didn't want to explain how the knife made 2 wholes in her neck.
"Where did he go, should I get security?" Devon stepped in from of the girls, as if worrying the mugger would come back to attack them again.
"I used a mic pole and scared him off, but we should get the girls back to their dorms to keep them safe," Oz replied as he ushered the girls inside the van. He was sure Harmony would come back to attack, so it was better to stay together for the night, even Eris was most likely in the high school bullies shit list as well.
They had driven to the college dorms as quickly as they could and had Devon drop them off before running to Buffy's room. Luckily, they had caught her outside with Parker before she had turned in. With a quick lie about an angry puppy attacking Willow, which Eris thought was the worst lie about vampires they ever made up, they hurried inside to get Willow taken care of. They weren't really worried about Harmony because, well, it was Harmony, but the boyfriend could be a problem.
