Roanapur Nights

A RosarioVampire and Black Lagoon Crossover

Chapter 32

The normal atmosphere of Roanapur had changed into something of a warzone. Those unfortunate enough to be caught in the action had unfortunately found their bullets early. Cassandra could see the destruction already. The cyborg had stopped playing around, and from what she could tell had unleashed multiple rocket propelled grenades from her cybernetic arms. While the Dullahan was not of the same calibur of monster as she was there was a grudging respect. She had managed to somehow not only keep up with the man made monster, but she had caused the cyborg to become unhinged and sloppy.

It was very likely that whatever mantra she was using to keep herself collective wasn't working anymore. Instead she was lost in the heat of a battle. Still, she had wounded her brother, the cyborg had spat in the face of her family, and for that she deserved death. Without a second thought she took to the shadows. The very powers she'd been teaching to Roxy and Rock were used now. She effortlessly became one with the Cyborg's shadow, and she caused her to slow, and then she made her arm move.

"What the hell?!" Silent Penance exclaimed as her hand moved under her jaw, "What's going on?!"

"You wounded my brother," came a voice from the shadows, "My dear little brother has been wounded because of you, and now you pay. Tell me, do you know why even most monsters are afraid of the dark? The answer is simple. It is because it is our domain. It belongs to the vampires, and you, monster as you are, must bow to the might of us."

The firing pin activated, and a single bullet hit her jaw. It didn't penetrate, after all her jaw and part of her skull had been reinforced, but it did ring her bell good. She groaned as she tried to shake it off. Her body was still not obeying her, and she began to put everything she could into moving. Cassandra could feel the control slowly slipping away. This was what it meant to be fighting something so powerful. She could match her brother, she potentially could even match a slightly older vampire, but she was still beneath her.

Cassandra was her mother's daughter. She was a powerful vampire, and she was not one to be trifled with. She released control, and instead she came from the shadows in a way she told her young apprentice to never do. She had warned her that coming from the shadows in a wrong way could wound a mortal to the point of death. And that was exactly the reasoning. She came from the shadows, her arm coming from inside of the cyborg itself. There was a moment of surprise before the painful cries escaped her prey.

Those cries echoed around them, and she continued to exit the shadows, ensuring that she was forming inside and out of the cyborg. She then wrenched back the parts of her that were sticking out, causing massive holes to form. The cyborg coughed twice, turned, and she looked at the face of her killer. There was an entire army that had been sent, an army that was ready to deal with the cyborg, but in the end it had only taken Cassandra. The vampiress had taken the fight serious from the start. She had done so because Silent Penance had wounded her mother's pride by wounding her brother.

She had dared to harm a vampire of their bloodline. That insolence had to be punished, and this was a fitting punishment. Still, to her surprise Silent Penance hadn't fallen. The cyborg was still standing, large gaping holes were throughout her chest, legs, hips, and yet she hadn't fallen. The cyborg slowly turned toward her, the sound more like metal grating on bone than it was a fluid motion, and still she turned, "Not possible," she said, her red eye shining on her, "Not possible at all."

The words sounded more like they were coming from a speaker than a normal human throat, and she lifted her arm, the sound of a gun firing erupted, and then it stopped. The explosion caused by the now jammed weapon on her wrist was all that anyone needed to know exactly what was going on. Her arm lowered, but she didn't seem interested in backing down. Cassandra could respect that, but this fight had gone on long enough. She struck out, catching the cyborg by the throat. Her finger closed, being held back just briefly by what she could only guess was something metallic.

Still, her vamperic strength won out, and she closed her fingers in, causing them to tear through metal, meat, and circuits. She pulled her hand back, and in doing so ripped out the throat of the cyborg that had harmed her brother. She then turned her eyes toward Chang. There was more than enough reason to deal with him, but it was not her place. She had told the Dullahan that her fight was with the cyborg, and the cyborg only, "He's all yours," she said stepping back, "Do with him as you will."

"My thanks," she said as she stepped near him, "Now, Mr. Chang, your head is required at a meeting, but it's just your head."

Chang backed up, and Cassandra watched as he tried to weigh his options. From what her sister-in-law had said Chang was no slouch when it came to fighting. He was actually very skilled at firearms, and he was a schemer that could potentially keep up with her brother. But all of his schemes, all of his plans, and everything that he'd done obviously had never truly planned for something like them. He'd been prepared for normal mortals, and his lack of fully planning had finally caught up with him. It wasn't drawn out, and it wasn't overly done. The dullahan simply slashed with her scythe, and in doing so she relieved his shoulders of the weight of his head. His body dropped, spasming for a moment, and she held the prize she'd come after, "Now, I'll return you to your employer," she turned toward Cassandra, "I am not so blind to realize that you made my job far easier. So, consider me in your debt."

Cassandra nodded, "And as such, you will be called up by our house," she said before she looked at her sister-in-law, "I do apologize, I understand that you wished to ensure the death of this one, but I quickly surmized her strength, and I did not want to break my vow to my brother. If I had not stepped forward there is a chance, however slight, that she could have wounded you. I could not handle dishonoring myself to such a degree. Besides, I am certain that my niece would rather see you at home, whole, and complete instead of potentially harmed. I do hope that you understand."

Revy shook her head, "Yeah, I get it sis," she said before she stepped over, "She's still twitching though," she said before she fired a couple of shots with her rifle, the body began to slowly stop twitching. Revy leaned down closer to her, "Listen, bitch, I'm more than fuckin' certain that the afterlife is fucking real, and that means that there are some fucking demons waiting for you, but more than that, those fuckers you've already killed. Oh, they're there, and they're going to each take turns fucking you in the ass for what you did to them. If the stories are true, then you've got a few centuries of a gaping asshole to look forward to. Enjoy it you piece of shit."

She stepped back, and she looked at the dullahan who raised an eyebrow, "Gonna say something sis?" Revy asked, her eyes hard.

"Na, gotta figure she had it coming," Dahlia replied as she looked at her, "Not sure what she did, but personally don't care. My father has his prize, and I've completed my mission," she said before she turned, "Haste ye back, lassy, haste ye back."

Revy watched as she walked off. If she was completely honest with herself there would be little doubt that the woman was one of the more mysterious women she'd ever met. There was something about the way that she carried herself that made her feel at ease and on edge at the same time. It was almost as if they had met the city itself. She took a step forward, and to her surprise, one of Silent Penance's arms raised. She couldn't dodge, she couldn't move, and the shot hit her directly in the chest, "They'll fuck you too," came the garbled voice from the dying cyborg, "They'll fuck you too."

Cassandra quickly separated the cyborg's head from her body, but then she turned to her sister-in-law. The answer was easy. There was no getting around it. It would be better for her to live, to have some kind of life, instead of having her die. She bit into her neck, and she began injecting the much needed blood into her sister-in-law. Moments passed, the action almost seemed to not be working, and then, finally, she could sense a little life returning to her. What she had done had weakened her.

There was no getting around that. She was weakened, and she would not be able to fully fight at full strength for a few days at least. The amount of blood she'd given Revy meant something else as well. There was a good chance that she would either be turned, or that things could go worse. She hoped that she would be turned. Her brother's wife deserved the chance to live an eternal life with him. She had more than earned that right.

With the fact that she was already his thrall it was more than likely she would turn. The fact that her sister-in-law would likely turn was more or less a happy situation. Sure, there were parts of what had happened which would need to be answered for. Rebecca, or Revy as she went by, was not supposed to be harmed. It wasn't supposed to happen at all. Instead she had been nearly fatally wounded. The Cyborg had proven herself to be more than capable in attempting to achieve her goals.

Again, there was a grudging respect for the fallen adversary. She watched as the ones that hired the cyborg seemed to be moving toward them. It was a small collection of individuals. Maybe twenty in total. All of them were more or less armed, prepared, and ready for what would be happening. Had those she was with been normal mortals it would have been a different story. She might have even been frightened, but instead they were shouting, cursing, and she shook her head, "Allow me to take some of this burden from you," Fang Fang said from the shadows, "You've removed a much larger thorn, and it appears that this will help to remove another one."

Fang Fang had told her, in private, that originally he had tried to walk the path of the sorcerer. That his goal was to become more powerful than even his sister, and to be able to deal with everything that came at him. He then went on to tell her that while he had desperately wanted to become a powerful sorcerer it simply wasn't in the cards. Finally, he'd given up on it, and he resided himself to using his body as a weapon. She'd seen his combat ability, and she was impressed. She watched as he threw the first dagger.

It struck one of the would be attackers, and before his comrades could do anything another dagger was thrown. It began happening in droves. The group of them were facing death, and soon it became apparent that they needed to do more than what they were doing. However, Fang Fang wasn't alone in facing them. More of the Huang family began to make their way out. More of them began to deal with the Silicians that had attempted to take Chang form Roanapur. What had been a fighting force of twenty was down to two. Those two were likely men of high standing in their organization. Cassandra watched as Fang Fang walked toward them, and to their credit neither blinked, "You've attempted to smuggle one out of the city that was wanted dead by his own organization. In addition he caused much trouble for my organization, and he attempted to destabilize the delicate peace that has been brokered here."

One of them shook his head, "Say what you want," he stated, "Sure, we purchased his loyalty, but that was so that we could learn about the Hong Kong Triads. We wanted to deal with them, get them out of Roanapur, and leave the city firmly in the grip of those that actually followed the rules here. Still, I suppose that means that I don't get to face another day. I've seen the truth behind your disguise," he said as he looked at his partner that was kneeling with his eyes closed, "I suppose it was just a matter of time. I mean everyone's bullet is always waiting for them here."

She watched as Fang Fang seemed to consider things, "That is true," he replied, "It could be that your bullet simply has not found you today. I could release you, and the price of your life could be keeping a secret for the rest of your natural life. To be honest, the idea of dealing with someone, permanently, only sits well with me when they have wronged those I care for. You have not personally done so. Your associates were attempting to kill us, so it was natural to protect ourselves but you and your final associate are kneeling before us, prepared to meet your end. Tell me, could you live with silence on what has happened here, knowing that you will be watched, forever?"

He shook his head, "You know that's impossible," he replied, "Eventually someone will learn of it. A drunken night, a single moment of weakness, those things happen, and then I face a much worse death. Not only that, but I face something far worse in the ever after. I do not want my next life to be filled with torments for breaking my word."

Cassandra understood the man, and she stood, moving toward him, "Then you shall not face your eternal life in such a state," she said before she looked at Fang Fang, "Beloved, I can do this far easier, allow me to share this burden."

He nodded, and stepped back. Without missing a beat she brough her sickle up, and make a single slicing motion. It cut through the throat of the man, and another one did the same to his associate. It was the most painless death she could grant. She did so simply, easily, and without remorse. She granted them the chance to have the everafter they were looking forward. Whatever came after this life, whatever it was they went to face, they would do so knowing they hadn't broken a vow. It was an honorable death.

She looked back toward her sister-in-law and saw her breathing normally, "We must get her to a place where she can be monitored. She should heal, completely, but to be honest I am uncertain of how she will react upon finally awakening. Some freshly turned can be violent upon their new rebirth. I do not know if she will be of their number, but I know that my brother would want to ensure that his bride is taken care of. I plan to ensure that she is," she stated as she looked at her again, "I also plan to be there when she awakens. There is much I will need to answer for. Part of it is to inform mother that I had to move in order to save her son's bride. I am certain that she will understand, but it will still come with some consequences. I could not merely do this without permission and expect nothing to happen."

Fang Fang moved closer to her, and without warning she felt his arms around her. The action was welcomed, and she happily accepted it. The feeling of his body, the enticing smell of him, and the feeling that he cared so deeply for her. For an immortal being things like love were almost illusions. The feelings were strong, but they could be fleeting. She'd always been one to shy away from the prospect of being in love. If she was she in love then it meant that her emotions would have control over her.

Now, now she wanted the feelings to stay. She wanted to feel like this forever. She needed to feel like this for the rest of time. It also meant possibly refusing another of her mother's commands, or at least it did if Fang Fang became a vampire as well. It meant she would have to make the declaration that she was going to stay with him. Her mother likely would not take that information well. She was her daughter, her life, and to step away was to say that she no longer needed her.

That was the furthest thing from the truth. She needed her mother, her sisters, but she also needed to experience this. She needed to ride these waters, see where it led, and hopefully live in this bliss for the rest of her existence. She breathed in the night around them, the feeling of life that surrounded them, and then she could no longer contain herself. She moved to his neck, "I love you," the words escaped her mouth without warning, and she gently bit. Allowing the life force that was within him to lightly spill on her tongue. She felt everything, all of him, and she lightly tasted without taking much. She then pulled back, allowing herself to feel his life inside of her, "I have rarely said those words, and they mean everything to me. But I need to take my sister to a place to heal, and we must leave this place."

He nodded, and together they moved toward Revy. Both understood that Rock was watching over another battle that was taking place. One with the newly appointed head of the Hong Kong Triads. One that meant the possible destruction of a seat of power. His battle was one that was just as important, and he had allowed himself to miss what happened to ensure its closure. She would ensure that her brother's bride was well cared for.

"When this is all over," Fang Fang said, "When you have nothing else to teach, nothing else to relay, I ask again that you stay with me. Not just with me, but as something more. I love you as well, and I want to explore this together. I would want to welcome you into our family, completely, as my other half."

She smiled, "And I am certain that mother would want to welcome you as well. Although, please understand my beloved, dating one of the Dimitrescu daughters comes with some danger. There is a test that she will want to ensure you pass before any blessing is given. I know you can pass it, I would not have given you my heart if you could not."

She basked in the feeling of being loved as they walked, and she longed for the next step in their lives.
