The Minecraft Story: The Kingdom: Chapter 7

Every attempt to climb out the ravine crushed his body even more. Grabbing the rough, jagged rocks were beginning to peel off the skin from his hands. His arms and legs were cut and bruised from slipping and falling back down to the edge. The growling of his stomach drove him insane. The only bit of good fortune he had was when it rained the first day. He managed to remove his shirt and collect as much as he could. However, it was running out fast.

He sat on the cold, hard ground as the sun rose once again. This is day four, right? He thought. I have to try again today. I don't think I'll have any more strength to climb by tomorrow. With a loud grunt, he stood up. His legs shook beneath him as he stared up at the wall of stone that stood between him and freedom.

"I can do this," said Steve as he grabbed a hold of the first rock, "I'm not letting some pansy ass wall stop me now."

With a louder grunt, he lifted himself off the ground and began to climb. Each time he grabbed the wall, it felt like several tiny needles stabbing into his palms. His muscles ached as he lifted himself up higher and higher. The wobbling in his legs got worse every pull and his hands began to bleed.

After about ten minutes, his progress was slow, but it was effective. About halfway. He thought as he pulled himself up. Just don't fall from this height again. Steve chuckled to himself as he remembered the last time he fell from that height. In his moment of distraction, the blood on his hands caused him to slip.

"SHIT!" He yelled out as grabbed another rock. He managed to catch himself. As he gripped the other rock, blood seeped out of his hands even quicker. The pain was excruciating as the blood trickled down from his hands all the way down to his dangling legs. "No," he said softly. "NO!" he screamed as he tightened his grip and placed his legs back onto the wall.

Every muscle in his body was working overtime now. Never once had Steve exhausted himself more than this moment as he continued his climb. With his spirit reinvigorated, he climbed even faster now. The blood still made it slippery, but he simply tightened his grip even more. With each pull, more sunlight began to shine down on Steve. He was almost there. About three quarters of the way.

He was so close to the opening of the ravine. For the first time in days, a smile spread across his face. Only a few more blocks away.

Suddenly, a loose bit of rock fell from beneath his feet. He tried to catch himself again, but it was too late. He plummeted back to the edge.

THUNK!

Steve did not move. Everything was too hurt to move. He simply stared up at the sky; at the freedom he'd never see again.

I'm going to die here. Steve thought. I'm really going to die here. Steve began to giggle.

"I'm going to die in this fucking hole!" Steve yelled as he burst out laughing. "So much for finding some stupid egg! WHAT ABOUT THIS YOU FUCKING DREAM VOICE! IS THIS PART OF THE MISSION!?" Steve laughed and laughed and laughed. Eventually, he stopped and closed his eyes.

Suddenly a voice called out, "Hey, I think it came from here!"

Is that you again, dream voice? He thought.

"I heard it coming from down there!" the voice called out again, a bit louder.

Just give it a rest. He thought.

"Yeah, I see someone!" the voice came from right above Steve. He slowly opened his eyes to see a soldier standing at the top of the ravine, "There's a guy down there! It looks bad, get the ropes!"

Are you taking on a real form, dream voice? Steve thought.

As the soldiers began to climb down with the ropes, Steve blacked out.

When his eyes opened back up. All he could see was the moving ground. The grass passed by him slowly. He could feel something pressed against his chest; something that was moving. He looked down and saw that he was laid on the back of a black horse.

He lifted his head towards the rider who was wearing diamond armor, "hey," his voice was hoarse and quiet.

"Oh, so you are alive. We weren't sure at first," the rider had a soft, gentle voice. The rider turned around and a beautiful woman with emerald green eyes and long ginger hair looked back at Steve. "I'm Commander Alex of the Stone Kingdom militia."

"s-stone kingdom?" Steve could barely get the words out.

"Yes, the Stone Kingdom," said Alex, "If I may ask a quick question, what happened to you?"

"a-attacked by...pillagers," Steve groggily answered.

Suddenly, Alex seemed to tense up and her face changed to a look of worry, "You need rest sir, just lay your head down. I'll wake you when we get there."

Once again, Steve's eyes shut.

Steve was woken up to a poking in his back, "Wake up, we're almost there." His eyes slowly opened. He looked up to see the sun was now right above their heads. He looked around to see several soldiers walking full iron armor. They seemed to no longer be in the jungle, but they were still in the forest.

"Alright, it's just up ahead," Commander Alex called out, "Get this man off my horse, I cannot be seen in public with a commoner. I want this man questioned as soon as his wounds are healed."

"Yes commander," said one soldier he helped Steve off the horse. The moment his feet touched the ground; he began to fall over. Luckily, the soldier caught him, "Woah there son, lets just take this one step at a time."

"Everyone, march forward," Commander Alex commanded.

With the help of the soldier, Steve slowly walked forward. The trees were thick and hard to navigate. Luckily, they weren't in them for much longer. His body was tired and exhausted from the past couple days. However, as he walked out of the forest and saw the grand walls of the Stone Kingdom, relief flooded over him and a grin crossed his face.
