Naruto's Undead Nightmare: Chapter 7
Suna Desert: With Naruto, Tenten, Konohamaru, Hana and Tsunade
Naruto and his group were marching under the blazing sun towards Suna; Naruto and the others were all sweating profusely as they walked among the sandy dunes. Naruto had put a orange bandana over his head and used his forehead protect to tie it down; the cloth covered the back of his neck, protecting him from the sun.
"Fuck…this…heat" Naruto groaned as he walked with his group "how the heck can these people live out here; this is miserable and hell?"
"The first Kazekage found an oasis in the middle of the desert" Tsunade said as she applied more sunscreen to her face and exposed skin "it was in the middle of a deep canyon and he along with his clan used their earth style jutsu to carve out a flat area for them to build a village". "The continents largest underground aquifer is under the village; the pool is nearly limitless" Tsunade concluded.
"Well we're going to need some more water" Konohamaru said as he took a swig from his canteen "we're down to nearly half our original supply".
"Well walking in the desert for three days will do that to you" Tenten said as she adjusted her backpack.
"It's a shame we couldn't find any horses or camels; that would've made the trip a lot easier" Hana said; Tsunade chuckled at this.
"Oh come on you four; this is what being a ninja is all about" Tsunade said "to endure and fight for your nation; I fought in sandstorms, blizzards, rainstorms and even a volcanic eruption at one point". "What'd you expect; the ninja world to be full of teddy bears and fairies?" Tsunade asked and Naruto looked at her with a tic mark.
"I'd rather the world be like that than an undead apocalypse" Naruto said before looking forward "anything has got to be better than this; this freakin' sucks"
Meanwhile in the Teddy Bear and Fairy universe: with Naruto
An orange teddy bear Naruto wearing a kettle helmet, an olive green pants and coat, brown boots and web gear and carrying a bolt action rifle was walking across a misty muddy field in formation with a company of other teddy bears.
'Oh just my luck' Naruto thought as he lifted his boots out of the thick mud 'I die on my first C-rank mission and I get isekai'd into a war zone; this blows'.
"MAMA!!" A shout came from Naruto's side and he looked over and saw a blue teddy bear walking beside him carrying a shotgun and crying "HELP ME MAMA, I SHOULDN'T BE HERE; I WANNA GO HOME… OH GOD… MAMA HELP ME!!"
"Naruto" a voice called from up ahead and Naruto say it was a brown teddy bear in an officer uniform "shut him up; he's gonna wake up the 'flies'".
Naruto ran over to the crying teddy bear and clamped his hand over his mouth "peppermint, shut up" Naruto said before grabbing the shotgun and pushing it into his chest "this is your mama now; get your head in the damn game".
Peppermint nodded and Naruto pulled his hand away "Ok,ok,ok" Peppermint said as he nodded "I-I'll just-"; before he could finish his sentence he was hit in the head by a fireball and exploded. Naruto was showered in blood and stuffing as he and the rest of his company fell to the ground and began firing their rifles.
"FAIRIES, ONE O'CLOCK, ONE O'CLOCK" the commander shouted as Naruto and the others all began firing as fireballs shot over their heads.
'Goddamn it' Naruto thought as he shot his rifle until he reached his last round; Naruto pulled out a stripper clip and began to feed it into his empty rifle 'why couldn't I get isekai'd into a zombie world or something; this freakin' sucks'.
Back to the real story (btw yes I got the inspiration from the teddy bear and unicorn war from Unicorn Wars)
After marching through the desert for another several hours Naruto, Tenten, Tsunade, Hana and Konohamaru all reached the top of a rather large hill of sand and looked out in relief and joy. Off in the distance no more a than a mile away were the high walls of Sunagakure.
"Alright, we made it!" Naruto cheered in excitement.
"We made it" Tenten said relieved as she felt a giant weight lift off of her shoulders.
"Don't count your chickens before they hatch" Tsunade said calming the group down "we still need to see if the village is still up and running or even if there are survivors for that matter".
"She's right" Hana said "stay alert and be careful".
"Alright, alright" Naruto said as he pulled out his machete "buzz kills"; Naruto began to walk forward and spoke. "I'll take point again" Naruto said as the group began to follow him; Naruto led the group down the hill and into a almost flat area.
The area was flattened out for what seemed like miles and upon realizing this Konohamaru spoke up "huh… this is strange huh?" Konohamaru said and Tenten looked at him.
"What's strange?" Tenten asked and Konohamaru looked at her and spoke.
"This area's all flat and stuff… this isn't natural; I read it in a book about deserts once" Konohamaru said as he patted the ground with his foot and spoke "it looks like it was patted down somehow".
Upon hearing this Hana looked behind them at the hill they were just on and saw it; the hill was not an individual hill but one, long and continuous formation, like it was man made.
"Everyone, stop" Hana barked and everyone stopped where they were "this area's flat because it's man made".
"Huh, man made?" Naruto asked "how the hell can this be-" suddenly a hand shot out of the ground and grabbed Naruto by the ankle. "GAAAAAH" Naruto shouted in fright, making the others jump as he swung his machete down at the hand and with one clean slash cut off the appendage.
Naruto jumped back and the sand under his feet began to rise and a face appeared; an infected Suna shinobi rose out of the ground with it's jaws gaping and sand pouring out of it's mouth. The infected's body was smashed to pieces but the muscles and bones still worked well enough to pull itself out of the sand.
Naruto swung his machete at the infected and chopped it's head off by hitting the neck; the head went flying across the ground covering the sand in it's black and decaying blood. Suddenly more and more hands and arms began to shoot out of the ground and Naruto and his group got into a defensive diamond formation with Tenten in the middle with her crossbow.
Dozens of infected rose from the sandy dunes, their broken and disheveled bodies looking like broken dolls; Naruto held his machete, Konohamaru his trench knives, Hana her kunai in one hand and shuriken in another and Tsunade put on a pair of Kevlar gloves.
"What the hell is this; we're they just waiting for us?" Hana asked and Tsunade spoke up.
"Who cares, we're in a bind and that's all that matters" Tsunade said as she examined the infected; some wore desert civilian clothes, others wore Suna shinobi attire and some wore cloths from different lands. "Suna…Kawa…Iwa…Ame" Tsunade listed as she looked around "damn, looks like some of these infected are from other countries".
"Who gives a fuck, just kill them" Naruto said as he swapped his machete to his left hand before he took out several shuriken; he threw the shuriken towards three infected, hitting them all in the head and putting them down.
The infected stumbled towards them half limping and half dragging their broken bodies and the rest of the group began to attack.
Tenten fired a bolt from her crossbow hitting an infected Suna shinobi in the forehead and killing it instantly; she quickly reloaded her crossbow and fired at another infected, this time a civilian woman. She fired her bolt and hit the woman through her left eye socket and began to reload as the others began to fight.
Tsunade threw a punch hitting an infected in the right temple using her super strength; the result was the infected's head exploding in a shower of gore that splattered the sand. Tsunade then reached out and grabbed the body and picked it up before throwing it towards a group of four infected that were close together; the infected body slammed into the group and made them all fall to the ground.
Konohamaru sent a stab towards an infected woman who was crawling on the ground towards him; his trench knife pierced through it's skull and with a grunt he pulled it out and got back into position.
Hana meanwhile threw a kunai towards an infected that was a few yards away, the kunai hit it in the forehead and killed it; she rushed forward and sent a kick to it's chest before the infected could hit the ground. The infected's body slammed into another one before and both were sent stumbling to the ground.
As Naruto and his group continued to fight the encroaching infected, slashing, stabbing and shooting as fast as they could but no matter how many they put down more pop out of the sand.
"We're getting out numbered here" Naruto shouted as he sliced another infected's head off with his machete before reaching into his weapon pouch "and I'm running out of kunai". Naruto threw a kunai at a infected man killing him before spinning around and chopping another infected's head off.
"He's right" Tsunade said as she threw a kick that sent an infected flying off into he distance "we have to move". "Run to the gates of Suna; me and Naruto will cover you all" Tsunade ordered.
"Alright" Tenten said as she finished reloading.
"Come on kid" Hana said as she grabbed Konohamaru by the collar and almost dragged him behind her.
"Naruto here" Konohamaru shouted before he threw a weapons pouch towards Naruto; Naruto caught it and peeked inside to see there were more kunai and shuriken inside.
"Thanks bud" Naruto said as he continued to fight the infected with Tsunade "why the hell are there so many; and why the hell are they buried?"
"Focus Naruto" Tsunade said as she back fisted another infected and killing it "we need to buy the others some time; the more focused they are on us, the better".
With Tenten, Hana and Konohamaru
Tenten, Hana and Konohamaru were all rushing across the sandy ground towards Suna as fast as they could; as they ran more and more infected rose up from the dunes and began to follow them.
While most were being distracted by Naruto and Tsunade there were still several chasing after them; Tenten seeing one of the infected in front of her gripped her crossbow and sent a butt stroke towards its head.
The wooden butt of the stock slammed into the infected's head and knocked it over and Tenten, Hana and Konohamaru ran past it as they began to near the gates of Suna. Upon reaching the high stone walls of Suna, Tenten saw that the large iron gates up ahead as they passed through a canyon like passageway.
"Up ahead; we're almost there" Tenten shouted as the group rushed towards the doors; after running a few more yards they stopped and looked around the area. There was no one in the immediate area and there was no one guarding the gates "HEY, CAN ANYONE HEAR ME?" Tenten shouted and heard no response.
"Damn it, there might not be anyone left inside" Hana said in anger.
"Uhhh… guys" Konohamaru said gaining their attentions "we got company"; Tenten and Hana looked back down the canyon entrance and saw dozens of infected marching towards them.
"Crap" Tenten said as she looked around until she saw a stairway which led up to a catwalk; on the cat walk there seemed to be some kind of mechanism that manually opened the doors. "Up there; that might be our way in" Tenten said as she pointed at the mechanism.
"I'll open the gates" Hana said as she began to run up the stairs "keep those things off me".
Tenten unslung her crossbow and got ready 'I don't have many bolts left; I gotta make them count' she thought as she fired a bolt at an infected.
Hana reached the mechanism which looked at it; it looked like an ever sized fishing reel with the chains fully extended; Hana grabbed the handle and began to crank the mechanism. With numerous creaks and snaps the mechanism began to pull the chains back and the gates slowly began to open.
"This is gonna take a while" Hana said as she continued to crank as fast as she could.
With Naruto and Tsunade
"RAAAH" Naruto roared as she sliced off a infected legs sending it to the ground; Naruto lifted his foot and stomped down onto the infected's head, smashing it's head to a pulp and it's blood splattering his foot "gross". Naruto pulled his foot back and sent a kick to an infected beside him hitting it and sending it stumbling back.
Another infected was crawling towards Naruto and Naruto sent a downward chop towards the infected; his machete sliced into it's crown before he pulled dit back out and looked around. There now seem to be more infected surrounding him and Tsunade and Naruto was beginning to feel overwhelmed "this isn't good" he said breathing heavily.
Tsunade was several yards away from Naruto as she crushed an infected's head with het bare hands before spinning around and sending a punch to another one; her fist connected with it's head and exploded it like a watermelon.
Tsunade was breathing hard as well "we might be in over our heads" Tsunade said as she scooted closer to Naruto and took up her fighting stance once more "alright Naruto; here's what we're going to do". Naruto looked at her as Naruto began to formulate a plan "I'll draw some off to the left and you go right; once we get their attention I'll-" Tsunade began but stopped when a gleam off metal caught her eye "get down".
"Wha-" Naruto began but Tsunade already grabbed him and took him to the ground just as a large volley of shuriken, kunai and arrows flew around them. The projectiles hit the infected all over their bodies; some were killed instantly while some others were knocked down or crippled.
Naruto looked up and was about to question what was going on but then he heard a woman shout "GET UP AND GET TO US; WE'LL COVER YOU" shouted a woman.
"You heard her, move" Tsunade said as she picked Naruto up and they both began to run off to where the noise was coming from; Naruto and Tsunade were weaving their ways through the horde of infected as fast as they could. Naruto was sending slashed and kicks trying to knock away some enemies as he ran towards the sounds of shouting.
Naruto raised his machete about to slash again when a boy wearing purple face pain raised up his hands "WOAH, WOAH, WOAH; I'M NOT INFECTED" the boy shouted and Naruto stopped his attack. The boy was wearing a black body suit and had dozens of weapons all over his body "watch it" the boy said as he pulled Naruto towards him and extended his left arm; there was some kind of launcher on his arm and he proceeded to fire a senbon out hitting an infected through the eye and killing it.
"Kankuro, lets go" shouted a woman and the boy with the painted face looked over and nodded.
"Come on kid; we gotta bail" Kankuro said as he pulled Naruto along; Naruto began to run with the Kankuro boy and saw Tsunade running up beside him. Upon looking around Naruto saw that they were not alone as there were nearly twenty people with them and they were all wearing what looked like anbu uniforms but with Suna colors and symbols.
The Anbu began to throw smoke bombs towards the crowd of infected in order to obscure their movements as they began to escape
"Who are you people?" Naruto asked and a girl looked at him and spoke.
"In a minute; we have to get to get to a safe distance" the girl said; Naruto and Tsunade followed them until they crested a hill and were not out of sight of the infected. After stopping and taking a knee the girl spoke up "my name is Temari; this is my brother Kankuro and what's left of Suna's anbu" Temari said.
Upon further inspection Naruto and Tsunade saw that Temari and Kankuro were Suna shinobi, although their cloths and forehead protectors had seen better days.
Temari wore a purple outfit with a red sash around her waist and had her hair done into four pony tails; on her back she had a Yumi bow and a quiver with over a dozen arrows.
Kankuro meanwhile wore a black suit that kind of looked cat like; he had an assortment of weapons on him especially on his arms, back and waist.
"So who are you guys?" Naruto asked "and why the hell are there infected popping out of the sand?"
"We're the kids of the late Kazekage; we were outside the village when everything went to hell" Temari said "for the past several weeks we have been trying to get back into Suna; but we've run into difficulties".
"What kind of difficulties?" Tsunade asked and Kankuro scoffed.
"Out father the Kazekage had the bright idea of unleashing Suna's greatest weapon" Kankuro said "but the thing is, we had no way of controlling him". "We can't use our chakra or anything to defeat him" Kankuro said "and now he's inside the village having his 'fun'; we need to get in there and resupply, otherwise we're going to die out here".
"We already lost half our number" Temari said as she looked around at her anbu who were all sitting down "the infected, dehydration, hopelessness… we can't hold on much longer".
"Wait, did you say 'him'?" Tsunade asked "what do you mean by that?"
Temari looked at Tsunade and spoke "our brother Gaara; the jinchuriki of the one tails"; upon hearing this the color drained from Naruto and Tsunade's face. "He's in Suna right now; he's always been unstable, but now he's completely lost it" Temari said and Naruto spoke up.
"Oh shit" Naruto said making Temari and Kankuro look at him "Tenten!"
With Tenten, Konohamaru and Hana
Tenten fired her last crossbow bolt and threw the now useless weapons off to the side and took out a kunai and got into a stance as an infected got close to her; it reached out with it's rotting hands and she swatted them away before sending a stab towards it's temple.
The kunai pierced through the skull and killed the infected; Tenten pulled out the kunai and sent a kick sending the body to the ground.
Konohamaru meanwhile was throwing shuriken at the approaching infected, so far he had killed a dozen or so infected; Konohamru reached into his weapons pouch once more and pulled out his final two shuriken.
"I'm out of shuriken" Konohamaru said as he took aim at two infected and threw them; the shuriken flew through the air and hit the two infected sending them to the ground.
As soon as he said that Hana came running back down the stairs and shouted "I opened the gates, lets go" Hana said and both Tenten and Konohamaru turned around and began to run to the gates. The gates were not open all the way but they were open wide enough foe someone to slip on through; the gap was maybe two or three feet wide when they all arrived.
"Konohamaru, go through; we'll cover you" Tenten said and Konohamaru nodded.
"Alright" Konohamaru said as he turned sideways and squeezed through the gat.
"I'll go next" Hana said as she squeezed through the gap with some minor difficulty; upon getting through Tenten began to go in just as the infected reached her. One of the infected grabbed onto her shirt but she was able to pull away and stab it in the eye.
The infected's dead body blocked the gap and Tenten fell onto her side before getting back up "are you guys ok?" Tenten asked as she looked around.
The inside of Suna looked just as bad as Konoha; multiple buildings were damaged and there were dozens of dead bodies littering the ground. There were also several infected roaming around and it hit Tenten and the others that Suna was gone.
"Damn it; this place is done for" Hana said gritting her teeth "what do we do now?"
"We need to find a way to warn Naruto and Tsunade" Konohamaru said and Tenten nodded.
"He's right; lets look around and see what we can find" Tenten said "we might need to fight out way out like we did in Konoha"; the others nodded and Tenten began to lead the way through the village. So far none of the infected had seen them or noticed them; however Tenten doubted that would last for much longer.
As they walked down a street a lone infected spotted them and began to walk towards them; Tenten got ready to fight it but before she could engage, something strange happened.
Sand began to swirl around the infected before it began to cover it from head to toe; this shocked Tenten and the others as they have never seen this before. The infected began to snarl and struggle as it was lifted off of the ground.
"Sand coffin" came a low monotone voice from a nearby alley; a figure walked out of the shadows with his arm extended and palm open. He was a red haired boy around Tenten's age; he wore no shirt, bloody and ripped pants and had a tattoo of the kanji for 'love' on his forehead along with dark circles under his eyes.
But what shocked them the most was his crazy and manically terrifying smile; it then hit them that he was somehow using chakra to manipulate the sand that encased the infected. Suddenly he closed his fist and spoke.
"SAND BURIAL" he shouted as the infected was crushed by the sand and showered the area in blood and gore; the boy let the sand fall back down to the ground and he looked towards them. His insane smile only broadened as he saw the two women and the young boy and Hana spoke up.
"W-who are you?" Hana asked and the boys chuckle sent shivers down their spines.
"I'm Gaara of the Desert" Gaara said as he called his sand to him "and you… are trespassing in my village". "NOW DIE" Gaara roared as he sent his sand towards Tenten and the others.
"MOVE" Tenten shouted as they all scattered as Gaara began to attack them with his sand.
