Chapter IX: The Girl's Night

X—X

"And then Orga just goes 'I should know, I'm the big one'!" Dobengal exclaimed, and everyone started laughing.

A week had passed since the fateful night, since Ivy revealed the weight of her baggage to the Light Dragon Slayer, and discovered his in return. After that quiet morning spent between the sheets and blankets, Sting had taken her back to Fairy Tail, reassuring her that she didn't need to stay for long, that they would leave the second she said so. She thanked him for the thought, but she knew she would have to face everyone.

Her surprise was evident when she walked inside the boisterous guild, Levy was the first to pull her into a hug, crying about how worried she had been, and asking if she was okay. When Ivy tried to bring back the revelation that had been made about her, Lucy had simply waved her off, and hugged her tight.

"Everyone has a past." she had said. "What matters is how we go about life now regardless of the choices we once made."

"You changed, Ivy. You are not the same person you once were." Levy had added. "That's all that matters to us."

Needless to say, it was a tear show all around.

After spending half a day with the guild, the five of them went back to Sabertooth by train, where the slayers had begged Ivy to do her 'pretty anti-vomit magic' – Sting's words – again. And when they arrived, Sting was whisked away to his Master duties, and Rogue left to train. But Lector kept her company.

"How exactly did the client react, though?" Yukino frowned.

"Well, his exact words were, and I quote, 'are you shitting me', so I'll let you take a wild guess."

The lot of them erupted in laughs. Tales with Dobengal and Orga were always fun. The two loved to exaggerate most of their stories, but still keep them believable enough. Ivy sat up straighter and looked at the stairs, noticing Sting stepping out of his office. His eyes found hers and he winked, before moving to the bar.

Her eyes watched him carefully. From the tight high-neck black shirt with no sleeves to the cargo pants and combat boots, he looked amazing. He had left his jacket in his office, she noticed. He had kept the same midnight-blue gloves, but the ribbon was now a pastel shade of lavender. She watched him run a hand through his hair and cocked her head to the side.

"Whatcha looking at?" She jumped when Yukino's voice whispered in her ear.

"N-nothing!" Ivy looked away. "I'm-! Your hair! It looks nice!"

"It does, but something tells me that Sting's butt looks better."

"It does..." Ivy sighed. "I-I mean-!"

Yukino giggled. "You don't need to hide from me, silly! Any... developments?"

"Not quite," she admitted. "We... had some heart-to-heart conversations, but nothing more."

"Not even a kiss?" Yukino gasped, and Ivy hissed.

"Louder, why don't you!"

"Sorry." the Celestial mage blushed. "Seriously, nothing?"

"... do forehead kisses count?" she tried.

"No! I mean, open-mouth, tongue-twirling, hot kisses!"

"... that was specific." Ivy raised an eyebrow. "Is there anything you want to tell me, Yuki?"

"Just that Sting seems to be the type of guy that takes what he wants."

"Well... if he is, he hasn't taken anything yet." she gulped.

"Yeah, and let's leave it at that because the other possibility doesn't even come to the table, Moone."

"...fine." she rolled her eyes. "But no. No... open-mouth, tongue-twirling, hot kisses."

"One thing you wanna do to him," Yukino smirked.

"We're not having this conversation here." Ivy crossed her arms.

"Why not?!"

"Because we're not alone, Sting is on the other side of the room, and... I need alcohol in my system for that." she looked away.

"You need alcohol to tell us you wanna jump on his bones?" Minerva spoke up, and Ivy jumped.

"I-!"

"Relax, Yukino told me everything." She raised her hand. "So?"

"...maybe?"

"Hm. Yuki, how are the bridges with Lucy?"

"Pretty good."

"Great. I'm ringing them up then. Who has the biggest room?"

"Yuki does."

"Tonight? Or tomorrow?"

"Tomorrow, we have a party to plan."

–X–

"I swear, it's frustrating!" Levy complained, throwing her head back. "It's not like I'm not used to it already, but when you're having a dog piss day, and he chooses the moment when the last drop falls to make a snide comment about my height?! Yes, I'm going to snap!"

"Have you told him about it?" Minerva frowned.

"After I calmed down? Yeah." the blue-haired girl admitted. "Like I know I'm short. I know that I look like a kid next to him. Do I get side looks and off-comments when more... generous women look at him, and then look at me? Yeah, I do! Does that hurt? Fucking obviously."

"I don't care what anyone says, your tits are perfect, Levy." Ivy placed her hands on her own "I'm like... somewhere in between, but trust me. Smaller boobs are a gift."

"How?"

"Back pain." Lucy let out.

"They're always in the way," Minerva commented. "You can't hug a guy without him thinking you're into him."

"Shirts that fit!" Yukino cried out.

"No chance of ever going braless." Ivy declared.

"I'm built like a twelve-year-old boy."

"Uh, your ass, hips and thighs beg to differ!" Lucy rolled her eyes.

"Speaking of my ass!" the blue-haired woman thrusted her glass forward. "What is up with him and always grabbing my ass every chance he gets?!"

"I mean..." Yukino and Minerva exchanged a look.

"Levy, do you want me to be honest with you?"

"Please, Ivy."

"I'd grab your ass every chance I get too if I were with you." she pushed her hair back. "I mean, have you seen it? It's awesome, it's perfect, it's..."

"Squeezable."

"Tapable."

"Gropable."

"Awesome."

"Wow." Levy raised an eyebrow. "That... does make me feel better."

"You're welcome." Yukino winked. "You are all so lucky. You have plenty of options to choose from, almost everyone in your guild is smoking."

"I wouldn't exactly call Fried smoking, but he's got his pointers." Lucy pursed her lips. "Anyone you'd prefer though?"

"I know he's got that flirting thing with Bisca, but Alzack is pretty hot."

"He kind of is, though." Ivy agreed, and Minerva nodded. "I could see you with Rogue."

"Rogue?!" Yukino choked on her drink. "Are you serious?!"

"See?" the black-haired woman exclaimed. "I'm not the only one!"

Levy and Lucy began to speak up, agreeing with Ivy, but Yukino only shook her head. "Nooo. That would never work."

"Why not?!" Lucy let out "You two would look so cute together!"

"Because Rogue wouldn't know sexual attraction if it smacked him in the face!"

And they all burst into laughter. Minerva leaned back on her pillow and smiled. The three young women were all gathered in Yukino's room, propped up against pillows and with snacks and drinks going all around. Ivy's mood had improved immensely from the depressed frown she had a week before, Yukino was finally having all that girl talk she always wanted and the two fairies weren't all that bad. The little one was funny.

"Honestly, sometimes I wish I could trade Natsu for some mellower Rogue. He's so frustrating!" Lucy complained, grabbing a cookie.

"Why?" Yukino frowned.

"Ugh, he's always sneaking inside my house, sometimes in really inopportune moments!" the blonde groaned. "And then he goes and sneaks inside my bed during the night, and I have to kick him – literally – out the next morning! And he's getting so overprotective!"

"What happened?"

"One time, I was coming home from a date. It had gone well, dinner and a walk along the river. He walks me back home, and I know for a fact that he's gonna kiss me goodbye! And suddenly, the door opens behind me, Natsu is in there, shirtless and when he sees the guy, he just grabs me, pulls me inside, and shuts the door in his face!"

Ivy raised an eyebrow and Levy snickered. "Are you sure Natsu doesn't like you?" Minerva asked.

"It's Natsu, Minerva. The dude wouldn't know sexual attraction if it wiggled naked tits in front of him." Lucy rolled her eyes, and everyone laughed.

"Well, no matter how unintentional they may be, at least Natsu makes a move." Ivy pouted, grabbing an orange soda.

"Who's not making a move on you?" Lucy frowned.

"Sting." the redhead pulled her knees to her chest. "Sometimes it does make me wonder if he's really interested or not."

Lucy exchanged a look with Levy, who gave her a subtle shake of the head. "Come on, Ivy. He's interested. When you went poof for a day, he almost started tearing out heads."

"That shows concern, not... attraction." she rolled her eyes.

"And the way he always seems to find you in a crowded room?" Minerva asked.

"Again, concern."

"He only does that with you, Ivy," Yukino smirked.

"And you do look good together," Lucy commented. "Blond, baby blue-eyed babies running around."

"Hey, Mira! Get out of Lucy's body." Ivy rolled her eyes.

"Let's not go that far..." Minerva smirked. "Watch the stick disappear from Sting's ass whenever Dobengal tries to make a move on Ivy."

"He doesn't do that."

"Ooh!" Yukino clapped. "Ver, you are so right! Every time Dobengal either puts his arm on your shoulders or even tries to get more touchy-feely with you, Sting always looks ready to rip his arm off!"

"It's not like that!" she blushed.

"Aww, little Ivy is blushing-!" Lucy sang. "What about you, Miss Red? What do you feel about him? I don't see you making any moves."

"I like him! Gee, I think everyone in Sabertooth – Dobengal included – knows that I like Sting!"

"Everyone in Sabertooth and Fairy Tail," Levy smirked.

Ivy pouted. "I do. Gosh, it's more than that. Everything he does, every touch, every smile, every secret wink... it makes me fall deeper. And I can't stop it. I don't want to stop it. This feels right."

"Why don't you make a move then?" Lucy suggested. "Prove to him and to yourself."

"I can't!" she turned red.

"Why not?!" Yukino gushed.

"Because that's not me! I'm a teaser!" she flushed red and grabbed Minerva's glass, taking a swig of it. "I push, I shove, I test every single line and boundary. That's what I do! But I don't cross them. I always wait for them to do it. I'm waiting for Sting to do it."

"I still think you should just... push him against a wall and maul him." Yukino popped a grape in her mouth. "Viciously, in preference."

"I want him to be clear though. I'm not stupid, okay? I see the way he acts with me. I can tell that he's closer, that he's smoother, that he wants something more." Ivy licked her lips. "But I want him to be clear about his intentions. I want him to come out and say 'I want to be with you, Ivy'."

"We've talked about that, Ivy." Levy smiled gently. "He's just following what he feels."

"I know." she sighed. "I know. But Sting is not like... others. He has to have some kind of knowledge or a hint of what is going on. I want him to be upfront about it."

"Wait, what are you two talking about?" Lucy frowned.

"I second that." Yukino let out.

"Sting is a dragon slayer. When Gajeel claimed me as his mate, it triggered a chain reaction, so that other dragon slayers make their move on their own mates." Levy explained. "The only one that wasn't affected was Wendy because she's so young."

"Even Rogue?"

"Rogue, Sting, Natsu... they're all currently kind of 'fighting off' the instinct to claim their mate. Or... Sting and Natsu are. I don't know if Rogue has claimed his or not." Levy smiled. "Sting knows who his mate is. And slowly but surely, he's making a move. But he has to be cautious because he literally met his mate two months ago."

"According to what Levy told me, the touching, the proximity, the overprotectiveness, the care, the... attention, they're all moves. They're all caused, heightened by the 'calling'." Ivy bit her lip.

"Really?" Minerva raised an eyebrow.

"Kind of like what Natsu has been doing with you, Lucy." the blue-eyed beauty hid her smirk.

Levy gave her a sly look and brought up another subject with Minerva and Yukino, leaving the blonde frozen in her spot, thoughts running through her head a mile a minute. Ivy joined them soon enough, watching as Lucy frowned, biting one nail. Levy offered her a bag of potato chips and she took it, smiling absentmindedly.

"So, Ivy. You never answered Yuki's question." Minerva raised an eyebrow.

"What question?" she frowned.

"My question!" the white-haired woman sat up straighter. "One thing you want to do to him."

"And I told you I needed alcohol for that!" she crossed her arms, and Levy shoved a bottle under her nose.

"Don't let that stop you," she smirked. "Answer the question, Ivy."

"You first! How's your sex life going?" she raised an eyebrow, and Levy turned red.

"Oooh, you've been keeping awfully quiet about that, I wanna know too." Lucy snapped out of her stupor.

Yukino grinned and Minerva raised an eyebrow. "Do tell."

"It's... good."

"No one is gonna judge you."

"Okay, fine." Levy groaned. "There are certain positions that I cannot handle because, you know... size differences."

"Like...?"

"Like... all fours." she blushed. "I know that hitting the cervix sometimes feels good, but that much is just painful. Oh, and riding him! Mavis fuck, I feel like I'm being impaled!"

"Damn." Lucy whistled. "But you still do it, right?"

"Ride him? Yeah, he loves it when I willingly take the reins." she looked away. "I admit that I'm a bit on the submissive side."

"Same." Yukino let out, and Ivy agreed.

"I'm both, though." Lucy frowned.

"That's normal." Minerva nodded. "Ivy, you're deflecting."

"Screw you, Ver."

"Answer the question, Ivy," Lucy smirked.

"We're waiting, Red."

"Come on, Moone!"

"Fine!" she rolled her eyes. "... find out just exactly what those abs taste like."

Minerva raised an eyebrow, Levy blushed, Yukino placed a hand over her chest and Lucy just looked shocked. "I'll be damned."

"I never said I was pure-minded." she let out and took a big sip of the bottle. "The view from below must be nice."

"We opened Pandora's box." Yukino let out. "Didn't we?"

"No, you just... got me drunk." Ivy giggled. "Come on... he walked around showing them off for the world to see, a girl is gonna work with what she can see!"

"That is true." Lucy nodded.

"One thing you want him to do to you?" Levy tried.

Ivy turned red.

"Oh, you better start listing, Moone!"
