Chapter XXI: The Old Home
X—X
"So, where exactly are we going, Ivy?" Lector asked.
"We're going somewhere very important to me." she kissed the top of the Exceed's head.
He snuggled further onto her shoulder. "Then we're here to help."
The two continued walking up the hill, kicking up the dust in the dirt path. Sting looked up to see a brown roof atop the hill. He took Ivy's free hand and smiled down at her, pressing a kiss to the back of her palm. She grinned and stood on the tip of her toes to press a kiss to the base of his neck.
A few more minutes passed and a tall white estate gate stood in front of them, sided with two white pillars and a long white fence. Ivy moved Lector to Sting's arms, and swiped up her arm, pressing her palm to the center of the gate. With a creak, the gates opened, and the two walked past them.
Lector looked up and gasped. The beautiful estate was large, surrounded by green grass and tall trees. The fountain in front of the house had a lotus green shape, and over it was a fairy with bee wings, who sprinkled the water from her raised palms. They walked up the stairs of the estate and Sting moved to knock on the door.
The door suddenly opened, and in front of him stood a man in his sixties, dressed in a sharp tailsuit and black gloves. The young man leaned back and Lector raised an eyebrow. Ivy simply smiled, and the man's green eyes crinkled. He bowed his head and sighed.
"Master Sylvia."
"Albus." she nodded. "May we come in?"
"Please do."
He opened the door further and Sting and Lector gasped. The hall was large, with wooden floors and a wide crystal chandelier. The double stairs led up to the upper floor, and the archways to both sides let sunlight pour in. The colorful mosaics above the door showed two large opened wings, and Sting smiled.
"It is a pleasure to receive you once more, Master Sylvia. May I ask who accompanies you?" Albus looked at the gaping young man and Exceed.
"This is Sting, and that is Lector. His Exceed." Ivy smiled.
"Her husband." the dragon slayer added.
"I see no ring." Albus motioned to her hand.
Ivy moved her hair back to reveal her mating mark. "A magical wedding."
"Wonderful news, Master Sylvia." he smiled. "May I pour you some tea?"
"Certainly. Pour yourself one as well, as I come seeking answers."
The man bowed his head and walked them to a living room, leaving them momentarily to fetch them tea and cake. Albus poured four cups and settled on the smallest armchair, watching as Ivy put sugar in Sting's and Lector's teas. He observed the enamored look Sting gave her and smiled. The young man looked downright smitten by her.
"How long have you been married?" He asked.
"About a month."
"No honeymoon?"
"Unfortunately not. Our work has kept us from it." Sting frowned.
"Nonsense. We took that three-day vacation." she grinned.
"Three days is not enough to have you all to myself, Ivy."
She blushed, and Albus cleared his throat. "So, Master Sylvia. What brings you back after so long?"
"You know exactly why I'm here, Albus." She put her teacup down. "What happened?"
"The Magic Council is attempting to find Master Geralt's room." He declared.
"What?! What are they doing in the house?!"
"Your… esteemed uncle brought them here. He, despite my best efforts to stop him, has been emptying the library."
"Oh, I'm gonna skin him alive." She grumbled. "How is the barrier holding?"
"Shakily."
"What's going on?" Sting asked.
"Geralt, my grandfather… he left all his business and this estate to my uncle."
"The wood business?"
"Exactly. But the library in this estate, grandfather's library, and all its contents are mine." She stood up and began pacing around. "He knows this, it is clear on the will, and the door has a magic seal only I can open. And that asshole brings the fucking Magic Council?!"
"Master Sylvia."
"I apologize, Albus." She collapsed on the couch.
"What do you want to do?"
"They're mine. I'm taking them." She ran her fingers through her hair and took a deep breath. "I just need to find somewhere to put them."
"That's easy. Sabertooth."
"Sting, I can't possibly ask you to do that for me." She looked at him.
"Ivy. It's my guild. My library. And you're my mate. The first time we talked about the library, I put you in charge of it."
"I know, but-!"
"No buts. Sabertooth is yours too."
She smiled at him and he winked. Ivy cupped his cheek and sighed. "Thank you."
"What else do you need?" he gently grabbed her wrist, brushing his thumb over the inside of it.
"Well… I'm going to have to ask Yukino for help because I'm not sure everything will fit."
"How big can it be?" Lector frowned.
"…it's big, Lector." She bit her lip. "It's going to take some time to get everything out."
"Let me make some calls." He stood up and left the room.
"Shall I prepare the rooms, Master Sylvia?" Albus smiled.
"One room." She blushed. "Would it be too troublesome to ask you to prepare my old room?"
"Anything for you, Master Sylvia." He smiled. "And for Sir Lector?"
"Sir?" the Exceed frowned.
"Do you want your own room, Lector?"
"A pillow and a blanket right here is fine." He declared, and Albus nodded.
"I have reinforcements!" Sting exclaimed, walking back inside.
"What are you talking about?"
"Sabertooth… and Fairy Tail. To help."
Ivy gasped and jumped off the couch and into his arms, squeezing her dragon tight. "Sting-!"
"Don't mention it." He beamed.
"Albus." She turned to him. "We're going to need food. And lots of it."

"This is the last one from the shelf."
Ivy looked up to see Sting place a cardboard box next to her. She smiled and duct-taped it shut, writing runes over the plastic. She slapped a 'fragile' sticker on the side and went over her notes. Sting leaned against the desk and watched her for a moment before gently pulling the pen from her fingers.
"Sting!"
"Don't even bother. When I wanted to call it a night, you begged me to finish packing that shelf. I just did. Time to rest, Ivy."
"But-!"
"The sun disappeared hours ago, Sylvia. Off your ass, to bed. Or I will bend you over my shoulder and carry you out of here."
"You wouldn't."
"Wanna bet?"
She sighed and took his stretched hand, allowing him to pull her off the chair and out of the magnificent library. They walked hand in hand across the hallway, passing by dark doors. They finally arrived at the end of the hall and Ivy turned to the door on their right, opening it. She stepped inside and tugged Sting along.
The dragon slayer gasped. Her room was magnificent. The ceiling was baby blue with little white stars painted on it, the walls were cream colored, and a massive, furry white teddy bear sat at the corner, with a distinct dent on its legs. The large dossel bed was covered by sheer golden curtains with little sparkles, and the mattress was white and blue. She tugged him along and stood in the middle of the beautiful room, as he spotted the numerous plushies and toys organized scattered across the division.
"I'm sorry." She let out. "It's a childish room, I know. It's been a minute since I've been here."
Sting simply shook his head and cupped her face, pressing a gentle kiss to her lips. "It's perfect. It's… so you." He looked around. "A good amount of plushies. And who could forget the books?"
"I used to sit there when I was a kid, reading during the rainy afternoons." She pointed at the dent in the teddy bear's legs. "Studying."
"Studying?"
"Of course. My magic comes easily to me, but I had to learn to control frequencies and pitches. Most of what I can do, the healing frequencies, the… deadly pitch, the manipulation of soundwaves, I had to learn the basics first." She explained. "Most of those books are about sound frequency and waves, though I might have one or two children's tales lying around."
"How long has it been?"
"… more than five years," Ivy whispered. "I needed to run, to leave this place, create distance between these four walls and me."
"Do you feel… okay? Being back?" He leaned down. "You told me you haven't been back since… your grandfather."
"I've made peace with what I've done. The only thing that haunts me here is my grandfather's legacy. That I will take with me away from here." She licked her lips. "But I will admit that I'm rather focusing on my anger towards that who calls himself my uncle, and my determination to save my grandfather's legacy."
"I see." He pointed one finger at her desk. "There seems to be something missing there."
"Yeah, it's my… my box." She nodded, placing her hands on the breasts of his jacket. "It's a family heirloom, where I keep the most precious things."
"Where is it now?" his hands fell to her waist.
"In Sabertooth."
"What's in it?" He grinned at her flushed cheeks.
"Embarrassing stuff."
"Tell meee!" He whined.
"A photo of my parents on the wedding day. A picture of my grandfather, grandmother, and me. The wrapper of the first candy I bought for myself." She bit her lip. "Strawberry and sour sugar."
"What else?"
"A frayed cable wire of the first machine I fixed. A movie theater ticket. A sketch. A ribbon."
"A ribbon?" He frowned.
"…the ribbon of green pair of gloves you offered me in that first mission we took." She looked away.
Sting smiled. "You don't need a ribbon to remember me by." He bent his head and pressed a kiss to her mating mark. "I'm yours, Ivy. This is proof of that."
"S-Sting." She whimpered, fisting the fabric of the jacket.
"Yes, my little phoenix?" He spoke in a deep voice, though he knew, from the shift in her scent and the rapid beating of her heart, what she wanted.
"M-make love to me." She murmured.
Sting nodded against her neck and picked her up, wrapping her legs around his waist. He carried her over to the bed and smiled, before stripping the both of them bare and fulfilling her wish into the night.
