I am going to be posting the next chapter today, but for some reason I am having issues with fighting my posting of this chapter. I have been in rehab and have been too tired to post or write but was going through a lot of the old notes and found a story called Sarcasm and a Gun. it was my first attempt at this story. I might clean it up and post it. Johnny and Georgie hadn't met before the Black and White Ball and end up married. Unlike my usual stories, they don't get along but need to work together to deal with something that Helena did. Its part travelogue and part adventure as they get kidnapped and have to head home from Europe and land in Florida.
Jail House Rock
Chapter Twelve
Cruz didn't fingerprint either of the women but regretfully did put them together in a holding cell. On Harper's advice, he had also not written up any booking papers. He decided to lock the two men in a separate holding cell. Arriving back in the bull pen, he saw that the evening was winding down and Harper was telling the desk sergeant who was coming on duty what they had going on.
"We have all the cells downstairs full. Drunk and disorderly, breaking and entering and thankfully only one case of domestic violence. The worst was the robbery, that guy is at County. There are nine people under arrest at various medical locations and a book of appearance tickets were written." Harper was telling him. "The fire department didn't arrive to Spoon Island in time, so there was a loss of the stables on the ground but that isn't anything we need to worry about."
"I saw the evening news. I am sure that the boss is furious." Sergeant Tremaine said. "At least he knows that it is a different Malcolm Scorpio."
"That is only the tip of the iceberg." Cruz told him. "All three of his girls got married in some form or another today. Rumors are that the Mayor is resigning tomorrow over the funds that the federal government gave us to deal with blighted properties."
"Ah, so some good news." Tremaine stated with a chuckle.
"The Corinthos woman ended arrested and at the Sheriff's department when the State Police brought her in to be booked." Harper reported. "The video is hilarious if you didn't get the full view from the news. It's on repeat in the bull pen."
They heard the sound of loud protests, and the commissioner leading a man into the station telling him that if he didn't shut up he was going to find charges to add to the ones he was already under arrest for.
"You arrested me for trespassing at a hospital that I work at." Patrick replied through clenched teeth. To the amusement of the two officers, the man wasn't wearing handcuffs, just following their into the bullpen.
"Your direct supervisor ordered you to leave the building, you ignored that direct order and he gave me permission to arrest you." Mac turned the doctor over to the detective and said, "Have him placed in the same area as the other members of the brain trust."
Georgie was feeling the sting in her hands from hitting the blond woman who was glaring at her from the opposite corner of the holding cell. "What?"
"This is all your fault." She snapped as she held her hand to her cheek which was stinging from the force of the blow she had taken. It had been years since she had been in any sort of tiff and technically had lost, made Kate mad as hell at herself.
"Georgie, how did you end up here?" Patrick asked as he was shoved into the cell next to hers which was empty as the officers had placed Jax and Johnny two cells down.
"Influence. I only know the best people." She said pointing to the blond in the cell. "What besides marrying Robin got you tossed into a jail cell?"
"Mac and Alan conspired to arrest me for trespassing because I didn't want to leave my patient in the hands of Maruchi." He replied. "Alan banned me from stepping foot on hospital property for forty-eight hours and your dad used that as an excuse to arrest me."
"I doubt you are under arrest any more than I am." She replied. Seeing his doubt, she said "We weren't processed, only put in holding cells. So more than likely Mac did so to give himself a chance to cool down. I fully expect him to attempt to ground me."
"You're an adult." Kate stated then asked. "I heard the bartender describe you as that other man's wife."
"Georgie, not you too." The new voice had the brunette in the cell waving at her mother and nodding yes. "I got a call from your father, he needed a new shirt as all of his clothes kept here are at home in the laundry, something about a broken nose and then I heard a rumor that you were in a jail cell."
"Dad overreacted." Georgie replied with a shrug, not surprised at ending up where she had. "All I was doing was beating this woman over the head with my purse."
Felicia backed out of the cell block, in case this spontaneous rash of weddings was infectious. She had no intention of ever getting married again, "I am going to speak to your dad."
"Good luck." Georgie cheerfully replied then looking at Patrick said. "I haven't seen Mount Scorpio erupt in years, but I guarantee we are here until at least morning. Last time he was this angry was when we found out Uncle Robert was alive after we believed he had died. He just showed up, expecting help."
With that, the young woman sat down on the bunk bed and told her roomie. "If you want to sleep, you're going to have to use the upper bunk. Good night."
Mac thanked Felicia for the shirt and said "I had Georgie arrested tonight; she was hitting that Kate Howard woman with her purse. Then that young idiot I was talking to you about hiring admitted to being married to her. And tomorrow morning, first thing, we are hiring someone to check out our pipes for lead."
Felicia laughed then told him. "Mac, when we bought the house, they did a complete inspection. The Webbers were required to switch out a few of the outside pipes, remember?"
"Do you have a better explanation for my day?" He inquired.
"That might explain Maxie and Georgie but Robin doesn't live there anymore." She pointed out sensibly. "Wait, tell me, that you didn't just say that Georgie who married got married to that Zacchara kid you wanted to hire. She confessed rather cheerfully I might add to beating that woman with her purse."
"Alexis." Mac growled and then told Felicia. "I blame Georgie on Alexis."
"Any chance you are going to let her go tonight, if not I am going back to bed." She stated as she yawned and stretched. She knew Mac would calm down and that eventually their daughter would be released without any records.
"Oh, you are so lucky that I don't have all three of them down here." He replied as he waved her out of the office and pulled out the bag that he had stopped to purchase at the convenience store on his way back to the station. Opening the bottle and taking a long drag, he said "Alan might be onto something."
Leaning back, drinking the coke, he sat down and tried to calm down before going to speak to the idiots he currently had in his jail cells only for someone to knock. "I will fire the first moron who dares to come though that door or bust them down to doing foot patrol at the mall."
"My name is Olivia, Olivia Falconari." Mac lifted his eyes from the file, with fire in them while asking the woman. "Do you need police help?"
When she shook her head no, he asked "Are you here to confess to a class A felony or worse?"
"NO!" she snapped. "Wait, why?"
"Then whatever it is, can wait until tomorrow." He said as he took a sip of the coke and leaned back in his office chair.
"You do know that drinking that will rot your teeth." She stated then added "Plus my son has used it to clean car parts, can you imagine what it does to your insides if it cleans grease off car parts."
"Is your son missing?" Mac inquired politely while taking another sip almost in defiance.
"No, I don't know where he is at this exact minute but I would expect it is somewhere in London, more than likely finding a pretty girl to flirt with." She replied then looking at the man added. "He did like your daughter, the petite one whose a personal shopper."
"Thankfully, my daughter is home, at least I think so, and your son is at least two thousand miles away, plus there is the major inconvenience in that she is married to that Australian idiot who owns the hotel."
"Jax? I thought he wasn't interested in the younger girl. At least, I thought that is what Kate told me. Oh, he is one of the reasons I am here. I seem to have misplaced my cousin and him in the lobby of the hotel." She said still holding onto the piece of pie in a to go container.
"Kate?" He asked and suddenly Olivia recalled what her cousin had told her about the police commissioner being the one she had accused of being a romance novelist. "Would that be Kate Howard?"
Gulping, here she had been thinking he seemed like such a nice guy, a bit frustrated but nice, right now, he looked very angry, Olivia said "Yes."
"I know right where she is. I will be right back." Mac went to the bull pen and told the young officer, "There is a woman waiting in my office, take her to Ms. Howard. Now, I am going to go get some sleep and if so much as one person interrupts me for anything short of a mob war or the building is burning down will be shot with their own pistol."
Olivia was thankful for how helpful the young officer was until she saw Kate in a jail cell. "Kate, what happened to your face?"
The officer opened the jail cell and told Olivia to step inside. When Olivia did so, she felt her jaw drop when the officer locked the cell and quickly exited the hallway. "Wait, come back here."
Georgie lifted her head and replied. "He's a cadet, my guess is that he is scared of my dad. Welcome to our little slice of heaven. Two bunks only so you two are going to have to figure out who is sharing with whom and in spite of Emily's offer I am not into women, so please be quiet and keep your hands to yourself."
Patrick chuckled and said "I'm married, so I guess that makes me off limits as well."
"Shut up Drake." Georgie said with a snap to her voice. Then looking at the dark haired woman asked. "Is that a to go box you are carrying?"
"My cheesecake, you're the best." Kate exclaimed as she went to stand next to Olivia. "They had it, great. I am starving now."
"No cheesecake, they make it fresh, but they did have fresh apple caramel cobbler." When Kate reached for it, Georgie saw that the box had a fork in it. "They didn't search you either?"
"No, they didn't, why?" Olivia asked.
"The two in the furthest cell weren't searched either and they had my bottle of very expensive scotch and I think that they were considering drinking it." Georgie stated with a pout.
Patrick looked at the distance between the second set of cells and the ones they were in and said "I think that they are too far away to share. I am surprised that there aren't more people in the cells considering the night according to the news."
"I am sure that the cells downstairs are full." Georgie said then told them. "These are the holding cells normally used for people heading to court. Now, would you please explain why you are insisting on staying married to Robin, she has been going around the bend since you refused to agree to a divorce or annulment."
Patrick lifted his head and looked toward the Jones girl who was now sitting up on her bunk. "Since the night we spent together, she has been avoiding me. I love her, god only knows why."
"She isn't the easiest person to deal with." Georgie replied. "Are you sure you know what you are getting into?"
"Oddly enough, yes." Drake replied. "I have thought about it long and hard. There are more beautiful women at the hospital, Elizabeth of course, or even Emily but Robin's smile and flashing eyes reach to me deep down, there are even nicer woman but she keeps me on my toes, but it was her brains that first got my attention then when we were arguing I love it. But..."
There was silence in the cells as he trailed off but everyone else was listening, including Mac who had gone to sleep in the nearby room that they kept for officers snowed in during winter. He had left the door open, in case of being needed.
"But-" Georgie prompted.
"We often do our paperwork together and when we are there, I feel a sense of peace and belonging." He replied. "When I realized that I loved her, I went to Jake's and got drunk because I swore I would never give into need for coupledom. Not after my father fell apart when my mom died. Plus, well the sexual tension is hot."
Georgie answered and "That sounds like the hottie doc I have heard about."
"As for not letting her separate. I think that for Robin, this is the only way she will ever let her guard down. You know that her parents coming and going, being dead and undead did a number on her." Patrick replied. "She loves Mac but wonders why she wasn't ever enough for them."
With a soft wry smile, she said "I do know how that feels, if anyone does, its Maxie and myself."
Kate and Olivia were seated on the ground, atop of Olivia's outer jacket, both silent as they listened to the two of them talking. Georgie had been surprised to realize that Kate and the dark haired woman were related but kept that to herself.
"Yes, but Maxie and yourself are different because your not always being compared to your mother. Felicia is beautiful, but its that all American beauty, and both of you are absolutely lovely in your own right, and I think that is another issue for Robin. I don't find Anna attractive, in fact I am a little repulsed by how she has oh so casually abandoned Robin. So, Robin finds it hard to trust and with her illness, she feels things so deeply but doesn't expect others to feel them for her. I do, for the longest time I didn't understand why I did, but one day, I was looking at her, we were arguing about something trivial and all I could think was this was a woman I could see myself with for the rest of my life, I could see myself growing old with. Parenting with her. She is all I want and need."
"You are going to have a tough road ahead." Georgie replied. "Because you're right. I get some of her issues with us, too. Maxie is bubbly and open to life in spite of her transplant."
"Wait, your sister has a transplant." Kate asked from where she was seated, which surprised Georgie because she had expected her to protest the arrangement but she had remained silent about not being comfortable.
Georgie's eyes narrowed and her tone turned frosty as she looked at the blond and said "Yes, what of it?"
"I didn't know, I guess it explains the not wanting to move." Kate replied and Georgie was less tense as she got that for some reason the paper doll did get it. Kate added. "A member of my staff, turned down a chance to move to Paris."
Georgie went silent then told the woman not wanting to, but thinking it might help Maxie told her Maxie's history. "Maxie was deathly ill before I was born, our cousin BJ died in a car accident, the heart she received was from BJ. Maxie still refers to it as BJ's heart. Uncle Tony before he died, has repeatedly told Maxie that it's Maxie's heart, especially when she got sick a few years ago, but I know that Maxie still feels the need to be here, for her parents as well as the doctor issues you were talking about."
Mac felt the hot tears falling onto his exhausted face, his mind on his daughter and how they had almost lost her all those years ago and just a few years ago it had been a close call.
"I knew about the transplant." Patrick said quietly. "You always think about the miracle of a life being saved or about the medicine that they are going to have to take, but never about living with knowing you have lived because someone has died."
Patrick went quiet for a few minutes then told Georgie, "You do know, that Robin has more of an issue with you than Maxie."
"What?" Georgie asked sounding confused.
"You're just as brilliant as she is."
"No, I am not. I just study hard." Georgie protested.
"Jax mentioned you once." Kate said. Seeing the girl who had beat her up looking skeptically at her, she said "He described you as scarily brilliant and organized. He said Maxie was smart and has a great eye for fashion but you were planning on going to law school and that as soon as you passed the bar, he expected to be a bidding war with ELQ for your services."
"As if. I would never work for Tracy Quartermaine." She retorted, then added "Jax, ah, I could work for a him for a few years, but I don't intend to work for anyone, but they will be able to put me on retainer."
"And that is what I meant." Patrick replied then added "You also tend to discount your looks, Georgie. Robin and Maxie both have said that you have no idea of your effect on men."
That had the brunette laughing and the man in the room to the side annoyed while the second one winced as he found himself agreeing about his 'wife's' sister.
"I had to have talk with my good friend Pete, warned him I would break him in two after he was talking about you." Patrick stated.
Seeing her looking at his as if he was crazy, he added. "Georgie when you get more confident you will see that but for now, you have an innocence about you that men fear and find attractive at the same time. Its why I have to agree with your dad, Dillon Hornsby is an idiot because you will grow more beautiful as you age."
"Robin doesn't have that, she is honest about it." Patrick added. "Yet, she has her own attractions but doesn't rate them very highly except her intelligence and she points out that you have that too. She has nothing that is uniquely her own in your family. Maxie does, you do. She feels as if she is a combination of your characteristics."
"I don't get that, Robin..."
"Its not how you see her that is at issue, Georgie." Patrick gently replied. "Its now she sees herself. And that is why I am not separating from her, because I see her for who she is and love her in spite of herself. I see her as Robin Scorpio, not the daughter of Robert and the infamous Anna, the niece of Mac Scorpio, the cousin of Georgie and Maxie, the friends of Elizabeth and Emily. I see her for the stubborn, scarily smart and wonderful person she is. I see her as home."
"That..." Sean's anger was torn between exhaustion and frustration. "I told them to be seen, you told them to be seen. Ending up arrested for your wife beating up the most well known woman in the fashion world, which is going to bring the press down on Port Charles wasn't required. I never told them to do that."
Francis was seated on Jason's sofa, laughing so hard he couldn't catch his breath as the man he had had Johnny Zacchara reported what had happened at the hotel. When Jason entered, he listened as Sean reported what they had been told as the guard quickly exited the penthouse.
"There was one factor that you didn't count on." Jason told them. "Mac Scorpio has been having a very bad day."
"In truth, his day could have been worse." Francis reported having gained control. "The printer of the counterfeit money is dead but due to us, the plates were returned to Jersey but the reason that they wanted them was to destroy them as this Oswald Sullivan scratched them. Its why Janine and he were here, lost his lucky charm which was her.
Sean asked in a deadpan tone. "Janine Mathews? A fucking lucky charm?"
"Yes, and he believed he was suffering from a string of bad luck because some elderly Italian woman who believed that she had the 'eye' and put a curse on him for living in sin with Janine. Its why he was so determined to marry her, because he believed that the bad luck would end only if they were married by a priest." Francis replied. Seeing the look on Jason's face and the anger on Sean's, he said "That is Jersey's problem."
"We also possibly have a dead Helena Cassadine, I am waiting on DNA results, but it looks as if that old Cassadine butler shot her and she shot him in the head. She might have bled out." Sean reported. "We have both the guns thanks to Georgie Jones who we are going to tell that the man she shot didn't die from her bullet, taking that off her conscious."
"Good." Jason responded. "What do we do about Zacchara ending up in jail?"
"They weren't booked, so my guess is Mac is letting them stay until he cools down." Francis reported. "What worries me is if someone has a video of Georgie and that Kate Howard, there weren't a lot of people in the hallway but all it takes is one."
"We will worry about that when it happens." Jason said "No use creating problems that we might not have."
"Kate Howard, I have been already looking into her because of her ties to Trevor Lansing, she is a cipher, Jason. No history from before she graduated college." Sean stated.
"That cousin of hers that came to town with her, we are looking into it for the same last name." Francis told him. "And that cousin's son, we might need to look into where Sonny was about twenty-four or five years ago. I looked at video footage from the Metrocourt."
"Shit." Jason said getting what they were saying. "Are you sure?"
"No, but we need to look into it. We can't afford any surprises in regard to Sonny." Francis replied. "Sonny has moved up his trip to Italy. My guess in response to the Carly mess."
"Yes, he called, after midnight." Jason said with annoyance in his voice. "He woke Elizabeth and me up. He is flying out tomorrow morning. The part that concerns me is that he is taking Leticia and Milo along. Milo isn't a surprise, as it is his family, but normally Leticia goes on vacation when the family is gone."
"Lorenzo's people got a hold of the geek." Sean told them. "He was found dead in the pizza delivery van that was hit in the robbery of the convenience store. According to the report, the van was stolen from a nearby pizza shop. The ME didn't perform an autopsy, and it looks as if he is going to end up buried as a John Doe."
"We removed his electronics except his cell phone which Alcazar's people found on him." Sean reported. "Stan is working with my guy on the computer."
"Anything else?" Jason asked.
"The mayor became less of a problem. Steering his wife towards Felicia Jones was a good idea, his getting caught with the stolen funds was even better. The nice thing is, we benefit by getting the other blighted properties at auction." Sean replied. "They have all been empty for years, partly in thanks to the nearby Deception building being empty and Luke's club."
"Morgan, we do have an issue. Jerry Jacks is looking for the diamond. We found out he was in Liz's old studio. What if he comes to the idea that Elizabeth has it." Francis replied.
"If it becomes necessary take him out but don't kill him if we don't have to. I will speak to Elizabeth about the situation though." Jason replied. "Should we keep looking for this diamond?"
"Cassadine is also looking for it. Scorpio is going to want nothing to do with it." Sean replied. "I had a thought about the limo and the bodies. I was careful to keep our people out of it, I think we send it into the river and wait for it to be found."
"No." Jason replied. "Too many people fear that woman. They deserve to know that she is no longer threat. As for Jerry Jacks and this diamond, its not our mess until it becomes ours. I will talk to Elizabeth about it when I warn her about Jerry."
"I say we sink her, but have someone report it to the police, someone unconnected to us." Francis offered his opinion. "Like Jason said, too many people deserve to know she is dead. Even if Spencer doesn't. I did some looking at the timeline, and other than her reasoning, I feel that Anna Devane is spot on regarding Spencer and the drugs."
"What do you suspect?" Jason asked.
"Spencer for Lizbits." Sean said then looking at Jason told him. "The part that I don't agree on is yourself ending up drugged by him. I fear that one was Carly. I think that she had a secret, one she thought that you had discovered and wanted to keep away. I suspect that you're not remembering Elizabeth was a side effect of whatever she did."
"Its also about the same time she took you out as O'Brien, using lies to Sonny. I think that we need to go over every single interaction you had with the woman, and maybe Courtney." Francis added. "The fact that she was panicking and didn't use the drugs to ensure that you ended up married to her, tell me that whatever it is, it's very, very big, Jason. The timing of it, has set off alarm bells for me."
"We need to talk to Maxie Jones." Sean said. "Anna Devane said that she was the one who figured out that they had been used. She might know something without even knowing what it is."
"Let that one ride for a few days." Jason stated. "She is dealing with whatever happened between Jax, Carly and herself. She is excitable and more than likely too wound up to be of any help."
There was silence in the cells, Olivia was amused as Kate's head landed on her shoulder like it used to when they were kids. The handsome doctor in the next cell was still tossing and turning, and unable to sleep. The young girl with the pixie haircut in the same cell as they seemed to be attempting to sleep as well but clearly was struggling. "Hey, Doc, why can't you sleep?"
Patrick's head came up and then he said sounding tired. "I have a patient, barely ten, he almost died on my table two days ago. Last night, I was able to get some sleep by resting in the on-call room, so I could be close if he needs me, its where I was tonight when Dr Quartermaine ordered me to go home. He pointed out the patients' vitals are stable and that he was feeling stimuli, but I couldn't rest. Couldn't accept that, not until he wakes up."
"So, he had dad arrest you which more than likely fits in with the plans he probably already had." Georgie said with a knowing chuckle. "Patrick if the patient had been older, would you have spent the night?"
Thinking on it, Patrick replied. "No, I would have called the hospital for the late rounds update, but its a kid, Georgie."
"Yes, but he is getting the best care. You're a brilliant surgeon but Maruchi's bedside manner is better. You're like most surgeons great in the operating theater but lousy with the patients. Uncle Tony was the same way." She said. "You did what you could do, now you need to let others help the patient. You saved his life, what happens when he heals is up to his body."
"It's just..."
"Patrick, in spite of your incredibly talented skills, you're not a god." Georgie gently told him. "Robin has tried to tell you this. She worries about your guilt; I know that your dad went off the rails when your mum died. Your dad is drowning himself in a bottle because he couldn't accept that a mistake was made, you need to let go. Realize that you are only human unless you want to end up just like him. You did your best for your patient and now you need to let his body heal."
Patrick chuckled in spite of himself and told her. "I get what you're saying. I do. Alan Quartermaine said the same after the surgery when Elizabeth and I were doing aftercare."
"Hey, speaking of Elizabeth, did you hear what I got Cameron?" She said with a giggle. "A Chuggin Charlie Legos kit."
"When she murders you, I will testify that it is justifiable." Patrick warned thinking on how the brunette nurse had made it very clear no legos for Cameron.
"Rightfully." Olivia, the voice of experience told them. "They are murder on the feet. Even when you think you have them all picked up, one finds its way to the spot that it is going to do the most damage. My son Dante had a loving aunt who kept buying them for him."
"All of his friends already had them." A sleepy voice announced. "Besides, they were trendy."
"They are little horrors of pain." Olivia replied. "So how many where in this kit?"
"Only 250." Georgie proudly announced with a slight giggle to her voice. "Elizabeth would rather I have given Cam a drum set then legos. I heard her telling Jason he had to help him put it together."
"Morgan?" Patrick lifted his head and Olivia wondered why he seemed to be surprised at what the girl was saying. "I knew they were old friends from local gossip between a few of the nurses, but I had no idea he had spent time with her son."
"Emily babysits him and so does his parents." Georgie replied. "In fact, the Q's maid appointed herself Elizabeth's protector after one incident with Lucky. She threw him out of Jake's using a wrestling move."
"I knew she was friends with Emily, best friends, but what is up with the doctors Q and Elizabeth?" Patrick asked.
Well aside from her family's connections to the hospital, there was Ms Lila, did you ever meet Jason's grandmother, when Lila was still alive, Elizabeth and she used to have tea at least once a week. Maxie and I would go over at least once a month when she would invite us. We felt so grown up." Georgie replied. "I still miss my tea with Miss Lila, I am sure that Emily and Elizabeth do as well. Monica would show up when she could."
Olivia was finding herself charmed as the young woman told them. "When we were little we used to make dad play tea party, looking back it's so funny remembering Mac seated so awkwardly at the table, with Maxie fussing that he wasn't dressed appropriately for tea. She found an old top hat and cane and would insist on his knocking on our door as if it was the door to the outside. He had to remove the top hat and place it and the cane in a basket she pretended was an umbrella rack. When Miss Lila heard us talking about it, she started to invite us for tea. We would wear dresses and ribbons in our hair."
"Dad came a few times, but Edward or someone would always drag him off, but we loved tea with the woman. When Elizabeth and Emily would be there, it would be so much fun." Georgie said. "Poor dad, the things he has done for us, all three of us. You should have seen his reaction to being stuck performing in the Nurse's Ball with us."
Mac found himself wincing as he recalled that particular disaster as he attempted to rest in spite of how busy his brain was currently that evening.
"Sounds like you have a great dad." Olivia said, her mind on her son's biological father and how he had not had one in his life except the ones in the neighborhood.
"Yes, we got very lucky." Georgie said softly. "When our parents separated, Mom wouldn't let us stay with dad."
"Most of the time parents are given joint custody." Olivia said.
"Mac isn't our biological father in spite of being the only one I know." Georgie replied. "It was the only time I remember them fighting. We made her life hell for it, though. She soon let us come back. We loved the ranch, but we missed dad more."
"I will never forget coming off the jet and seeing dad standing there. We were afraid he wouldn't want us back. And the minute..." Georgie trailed off. "The minute he hugged us, we knew we were home. I love my mom, but Mac, dad is home."
"He raised us by himself since we were preteens and did so without traumatizing us or himself." She said. "He taught us how to cook, how do to a lot of things, but made mom come home for the biological girl stuff."
"He survived teaching us to drive, he taught us how to shoot because guns were in the house. Went to ballet recitals, spelling bee competitions, chaperoned school dances, was there when my science competition entree blew up and turned the judge's hair blue and survived our boyfriends, and fights with friends. And in that time, I have only seen him lose his temper twice and once was tonight." She said.
"He didn't even lose his temper when Mom got caught with Luke Spencer." Georgie said then after a few minutes added. "I don't know how many time I have heard people talking about Luke and Laura Spencer being some great romance, if only they knew the truth."
"Spencer, Laura Spencer." Kate murmured the name. "I know that name some from some place."
She thought about it then said "Oh, I know. She ran a cosmetic's company into the ground. Hired an amateur photographer and the photos and publicity stills were dreadful. Some modeling competition, that did nothing to help the company because it didn't generate any publicity because of how terrible the photos were. At one point they were an up and coming business but something happened. A model died or something. Then the business was sold... Spencer, yes."
"That would be the one." Georgie replied. "Luke is now in a coma. Laura had a breakdown when she recalled murdering her stepfather. Lucky, the aforementioned photographer, is in rehab for drugs and Lulu is chasing after my ex-boyfriend, my guess would be that she is following in her cousin Carly's footsteps and wants a rich man to support her."
"Wait, Jax's hotel partner?" Kate inquired. "She is responsible for the mess of the décor at the hotel according to Jax."
"She came into town with nothing and got rich marrying wealthy men. Getting richer with each divorce." Georgie replied. "The only rich man left her age is Jax who she could trap into marriage and I think that she is after him, its why the partnership. Rumor is that Sonny Corinthos is done with her."
"You make it sound as if you know this Corinthos guy." Kate said with her eyes meeting her cousins, nervously.
"Uncle Tony's wife was once Bobby Spencer; she is the only member of that family I actually like other than my cousin Lucas." Georgie replied. "I have worked for her at the diner since I was old enough to be able to. Sonny was her son-in-law, and he comes in with his sons, his father works there part time. Mike is a gambler who is gone more than he is there, but Aunt Bobbie has a soft spot for him."
"Plus, my cousin Robin used to date Stone Cates who died, Sonny helped him, but for the last few years, he has been growing odder and odder. Thankfully, Jason Morgan is his partner. Morgan is sort of if its possible to be in the mob and described as a good guy, but he is." Georgie said. "Sonny and Carly have taken advantage of him for years."
"Damn, I have lived here for a few years now and didn't know some of this." Patrick stated. "Your sister married Jax to protect him from Carly. At the time, I didn't get why, but my guess is that the two of you know a hell of a lot more of her than I do."
"Way more than we like." Georgie said. "I was in grade school through most of this, Maxie was only middle school when it started but Carly is a succubus, a black widow spider. From what I heard from Robin, the Sonny before Carly was a different man then the man he is now. I wouldn't turn my back on him, unless he was dead."
"Isn't that a little harsh." Olivia asked, wanting more info for her son.
"No." Georgie replied. "Carly and he lie, cheat and commit crimes, but if someone where to lie or do something to them, they would be shouting all about betrayal and how could they do that to them. For example, Alexis Davis. He seduced her, then when she found out she was pregnant, she kept quiet about it, because Sonny were running right back to that bitch Carly."
"Anyhow, she didn't tell Sonny that he was Kristina's father until she was dying and needed help. He went on and on about how he had been kept from his daughter, yet Michael, his adopted son, he stole him from his biological father. Rumor is he forced AJ to sign paperwork by beating him badly. Yet, he acts like he did nothing wrong." Georgie told them.
"I do remember hearing about that situation." Patrick said. "Yet, things worked out."
"Only because Alexis would have looked like a hypocrite keeping Sonny away when married to Ric Lansing." Georgie replied. "I like Alexis, but she went around screaming danger then married a man who held a woman hostage in a panic room in his house and drugging his wife to keep her from finding out."
"Sonny Corinthos is a paper tiger, the one with the brains and business abilities is Jason Morgan. He takes after his own grandfather in that way. Most people think he is brain damaged but that doesn't mean he isn't smart and ruthless but I can't help thinking that most of his issues are with interpersonal relationships," Georgie stated. "Carly brings out his worst attributes and she has a cash register for a heart and the thought process of a rattle snake."
Carly was herself seated in a jail cell, only she was under arrest and had been processed including being fingerprinted. She had called Sonny only for her ex-husband to hang up on her and the jackass of a Sheriff had told her that she was only allowed one call, that he would allow her another one tomorrow, after she had been arraigned.
She had tried sleeping only to be awakened by the other inmates, at least she was the only person in this cell. Carly was vowing revenge on the sheriff, the deputies and every single person she had encountered since arriving at this horrid place.
She started doing so silently after overhearing a doctor they had called in recommending that she be placed on a seventy-two hour hold in Shadybrook. So for now, Carly was keeping quiet, about how she was going to destroy them all.
As she went over her day, she still couldn't figure out what had gone wrong. She had made her deal with Sonny for the boys, and had gotten him to put it down in paper that he would return them by the end of the two weeks. So, she was going to be five million dollars richer by Friday.
Her run in with her mother, Carly couldn't remember exactly what she had said, only that she knew that somehow her mother had found out about her deal with Sonny. She had spoken to the man she had been blackmailing who had worked for her ex, Lorenzo had no idea, none that they were helping her.
Unless...could Lorenzo have found out and decided to interfere. There was no reason for him to do so, unless... his wife had decided to save her ex fiancée. The last thing Carly remembered was calling them and then being on the jet with Jax and that bitch Maxie Jones who had been taunting her about her past. Yet another person she was going to destroy, that blond twit.
They had exited the jet, and she had heard Jax telling border patrol that Maxie was his wife, Carly had the odd feeling as if she had forgotten something and she just knew that whatever it was, it had been the result of the two of them.
Maxie had smirked and told Carly, that she knew how happy Carly was for them, and she had lost control and attacked the girl. All she had known was that she had felt absolute rage when she had looked at Maxie Jones and had wanted to destroy her.
Carly knew that something was up with Sonny and Jason and that they were distancing themselves from her, so she needed something, anything to get them back where she needed them to be. She had thought about using Lorenzo but when she had tried to use her wiles on him recently, he had laughed coldly and told her that he was immune to her nonsense.
It was why she had been looking at Jasper Jacks, milquetoast of a man, but filthy rich. Sonny still felt competitive with him after Brenda and if Sonny disliked someone, so did Jason. Yet, now that wouldn't work. Who else was there?"
She had heard of the man who had taken over the Zacchara territory and Carly was tempted but there was the fact that this person had some connection to Johnny O'Brien and she didn't know what that rat bastard might have told this person. Still... he was worth a look.
Johnny had dealt with keeping the story out of the press and was heading back to the penthouse and then on to his temporary place in Crimson Point. He was staying there for two reasons, to keep others out of the large mansion and to be protected from his former boss. Sonny was a threat, and he knew that.
Arriving back at Morgan's former penthouse, he had a secret meeting with a member of the staff he had brought over from Italy and inquired. "What did the boss say about Corinthios?"
"Let him hang himself." The other man told him. "I have our people looking into the computers were took off the geek. He has hundreds of photos of that young blond girl you wanted us to be watching but it looks as if he deleted them. Now there are new photos of this blond."
Johnny looked at the pictures and said "That is the Spencer girl. Take a look at them, see if there is anything we can use against her then delete them. What about the McCall woman?"
"Your pal Morgan getting together with that brunette nurse cross wired her brain. When she was being kept at the safehouse and isolated, for some reason in her mind it became the fault of Corinthos ex-wife and his sister and brother. Its why she killed him. I spoke to our person watching her and she doesn't believe that Morgan is in love with Elizabeth Webber, that Carly told him to be with her. Its what her mind has decided is the reason he is with her."
"If she makes any attempt to escape, take her out." Johnny directed then told the other man. "If they see Alexis Davis visiting her, I want to know about. I have a plan already prepared to deal with her being the woman's daughter. Alexis has been vacillating between believing she is and isn't her child."
"What about that Jacks, he is a threat." He inquired. "Men like that, who are solely inspired by greed don't back off. Right now, he is heading to Greece, but eventually he is going to return because I think you are right, that Spencer lost the diamond someplace here."
"Jason is going to talk to Elizabeth about the diamond, she is the only person who might know something and be willing to help." He told the man.
"Maximus is postponing dealing with Corinthos until the new year, but I can't help thinking that the short little bastard is going to push things until the order is given to take him out."
"I only hope that it happens here." Johnny grimly told him. "I know that Sonny love his sons, as much as he can, but that ex-wife of his, she is going to be a problem if Corinthos is left any of his funds. Its why the old man brought him to Italy, so that while he is away things can be put in place to strip him of his wealth or to put it all in trusts for the boys that no one but they can touch until they are older.
Jax was finding it impossible to fit in the bunk, he was just a little bit too tall. With a frustrated sigh, he sat up and saw that the man with him was still awake. "Jasper Jacks."
"John Zacchara. Yes, of those Zacchara. I am the sane one." He replied as he jumped down from the top bunk and sat on the opposite end from the Australian leaving his wife's bottle of scotch still on the bunk. "So, I know what I did to end up here, but what did you do?"
"Married his daughter." Jax replied with a wry tone. "On her orders. Bossy little thing, a whole lot of sunshine mixed in with a little bit of hurricane."
"I know that woman." Johnny replied in a deadpanned tone. "I married her little sister who is all of that and she could give lessons in stubbornness to jackasses."
"Plus unless you are a member of Mensa, she is more than likely smarter than you." Jax replied.
"Ah, I win one!" He shouted only to be told to be quiet. "Hey, Georgie, are you a member of Mensa?"
"No, just missed the cut." She replied only for him to tell her.
"I am." He responded.
"Congratulations, do you want a cookie?" She asked not getting why he was so happy about that.
"Actually, no, having two dinners filled me up." Johnny replied then looking at Jax told him. "Your staff at the hotel, does a great burger and fries. Anyhow, back to why I found that so interesting, did you know that Georgie and Maxie know how to shoot guns."
"Its not a surprise." Jax replied, they both heard the sound of Georgie's chuckle.
"Are you aware that Georgie is at sharpshooter level." Johnny replied. Seeing Jax's eyes widen, he told him. "Sean Bryant who is my keeper now that my dad is dead, told me that Morgan's people used to bet on her score at the range. They were surprised she didn't go to college on a competition shooting scholarship."
"I went to the range with dad, to humble him." Georgie replied with a snicker. "Big bad ex mercenary was out shot by his preteen daughter. Dad used to shoot some really big guns and he insisted on teaching us himself. I just have really good eye hand coordination."
Mac who had woken up when those in the cells started talking loud enough to be heard in the other cell, smirked. His little girl had no idea, none that he had let her win. Yes, she was good, very, very good but he was well aware that Morgan's people used that same range and he didn't want them to have any idea that he could shoot that accurately and at that distance.
"Wait, why were they telling you how good of a shot Georgie is." Jax inquired.
"Its a long story, but the short of it, was that we got together and then my dad had me kidnapped me to protect me from my sister and his lawyer. I was stuck on an island with no phone service and I had to wait for the mail delivery which only happens once a month." Johnny told him. "Then when I got back here, I had to sign paperwork allowing the sale of dad's businesses. So, I didn't communicate with Georgie since the middle of August. I was bit afraid of how she would react, so Corelli who admires Georgie kept teasing me."
"And yet, it appears as if all is forgiven." Jax replied.
"Yes, but that was before her dad arrested me and she fled from Kelly's for some reason and then ended up beating that woman with her purse."
"Well, I can tell you about that." Jax replied with a chuckle. "Kate wrote a blog that mistakenly outed Mac as either the newest hero or the author of a series of romance novels."
"Okay, I get why that might be embarrassing but what, about a few thousand people would have read it."
"What you don't know is that Kate is Kate Howard, former editor of Couture magazine." Jax heard the angry hiss and said "Yes, that Kate Howard."
"Sorry, but I don't care about her career, she used to be involved with my father's corrupt attorney." Johnny said coldly.
Kate winced, she had had no idea when she had gotten involved with Trevor about his less than legal side, all she had seen was what appeared to be a powerful man who had offered to help her with her career. Then as time passed, she had seen how deeply he had been involved with the illegal side and hadn't just been the attorney.
There was silence again, with the sounds of Patrick tossing and turning as he tried to get sleep.
Kate was looking at the young girl now sleeping, it was clear that Georgie Jones loved her father, and that for her to physically attack anyone was apparently out of character. That she had ended up married to the young Zacchara heir, had Kate speculating that there was more to her than met the eye.
From Trevor's furtive conversations with others, she knew that the young man was a thorn in his side and that his determination to avoid the family business had created problems for Trevor's ambitions. She couldn't blame him for not trusting her, with her association with Trevor. She had escaped by leaving Bensonhurst to gain her dreams. Now, she found herself reinventing herself but this time from a position of strength.
Her mind on her mistake, she winced, knowing that Mac Scorpio had good reason to want to speak to her, hopefully, he would let her talk and would listen. From what his daughter had said, he was a reasonable man, still, he was a man and she had placed him front and center in a media firestorm. Still, Kate had finally figured it out and knew exactly who the author of the books were and that there had to be a reason that it was being kept a secret.
As the six people in the cells, slept in fits and starts, Mac had finally gotten a couple hours of sleep and was now alert enough to face what he had to. Looking at his watch, he saw that it was barely six in the morning, so he went to deal with his official job, which had been very busy the evening before.
"Mac." The desk sergeant greeted his boss and told him. "I got the desk appearance tickets sorted out, the cells have started to empty as bail is posted and we have had a few calls regarding the fire on Spoon Island from the press. And that eye looks like it hurts, do you need some aspirin."
"Send the calls to the fire department." Mac stated then told him. "I am going to get some coffee and I have some in my office, then deal with the idiots I have in the holding cells."
"Mac, we have had a few calls, regarding the Sophie le Couer rumors." He told his boss. "Most of them, I sent away with a flea in their ears for listening to gossip, but a few are being a bit more persistent."
Maxie was not happy to be awake this early in the morning, but her mother had told her that her dad wanted her down at the police station by seven. The petite blond was well aware that she was lucky not to have spent the night in a cell.
Walking down to the kitchen, she saw Robin waiting, stretching and yawning. "You too?"
"Patrick is in a jail cell. Alan Quartermaine called me last night and told me. I have been ordered to deal with it and to stay out of the hospital until at least seven tomorrow morning. So, lets go find out how angry Mac is."
Hearing the sound of someone rapidly knocking on the door, Robin saw Felicia coming down the stairs as Maxie went to open it. "Oh, you're the attorney, looking for my dad. He's at the station."
"I want to speak to that man." The red head announced as she entered the house. "How dare he? How dare he arrest her."
"Wait, you work for Morgan. My dad arrested Elizabeth, why?" Maxie inquired as she went towards the kitchen to pour herself a cup of tea. "Ah, heaven."
"No, your father arrested Kate Howard." Diane Miller announced and to her amazement the petite blond slammed her cup of tea down and glared at her while still wiping the splashed tea. "I got a call from Morgan's people about it."
"My dad would never arrest Kate, never. No matter how mad he is at her." Maxie replied. "Now, I suggest you get out of our house. Immediately."
The red head threatened to bring down the Supreme court down on their supposed bootjack thug of a father then slammed her way out the door.
While Maxie began to gather her keys, phones and purse, Felicia told them. "Maxie, I rather fear your father might have arrested the woman."
"Let's go." Maxie snapped as she pushed them out the door and towards Robin's car which was the last one in the driveway.
Mac had fortified his spine with breakfast and a large mug of station house coffee and was about to request that his incoming staff start to gather those he needed to talk to when a red head whirlwind slammed her way past the bullpen gate and into his office. "You. How dare you arrest her? I am going to sue this department and the city on her behalf, you...you cretin."
Looking at the tall red head, he said "Could you be a bit more specific; I arrested a lot of people last evening."
"Mac!" The police commissioner saw Anna entering his office and was about to ask her what she wanted when to his annoyance Alexis Davis stormed in demanding to know who Diane Miller was and why was she on the warpath for Mac's head to be mounted on her wall. "What the hell happened to you? Who did you fight, Mike Tyson?"
Into that melee, came his ex-wife, his niece and his daughter. "Dad, how could you? I defended you and you..."
Mac counted to ten then looking around grabbed his softball bat and slammed it onto the desk. "ENOUGH! Now, everyone who feels that they have an opinion on these matters meet me in the conference room."
Looking up to see a few of his detectives gathered in the bullpen, he wrote down a phone number, handed it to the desk sergeant with a whispered name then he told them. "Bring everyone in the holding cells to the conference room and then call this number."
Shaking his now stinging hand, Mac pulled out a bottle of aspirin and took two before drinking a gulp of his coffee. Entering the conference room to the sight of everyone speaking to everyone else, no one making the least bit of sense he announced. "Everyone shut up."
Pointing his finger at Diane, he asked "Who sent you here and who are you here for?"
When she started to mention Kate Howard, he saw the thin woman's surprise, then with a smirk asked. "Ms. Miller, I am sure that you weren't send down here for the woman, now who is your client paying you to represent."
When she flushed and stammered for a moment, he raised his left eyebrow and said, "I'm waiting."
"Mr. Zacchara." She muttered her face flushed with embarrassment. "But-."
"No, now be quiet. Alexis, this is Diane Miller, Morgan's newest attorney who from the cut of her suit follows fashion and is upset that I placed Kate Howard in a holding cell instead of arresting her for assault on a police officer."
There was a gasp from the various fashionable women in the room, but Kate was chuckling to their surprise. "Dad, that's Kate Howard, you arrested THE Kate Howard."
"Maxie, if I were you, I would be very, very quiet because I am rather sure that you and your husband want to stay out of sight for at least a few minutes until I am ready to deal with you. Now, Anna, I am sure that you aren't here regarding this, so we will talk later, at noon." Mac firmly told his sister-in-law.
When she went to open her mouth, she looked around and said, "May I be there when you talk to Patrick and Robin?"
"Yes. Patrick, Robin, my office, now." Mac directed the couple to his office and when seated behind his desk, told them. "Robin, you are going to stay married."
When she went to protest, he said "For at least six months. I want the two of you to get a new apartment and live together. If you sleep together, if you don't, that is your business, but you two are going to live together and attend marriage counseling."
"But Uncle M-." Robin went to protest only to find herself pulled to his side of the desk and hugged by him.
"Robin, I love you and I know that you are fighting this, but you are doing so for all the wrong reasons. Patrick, if I hear one rumor that you have even thought of cheating on my niece during these six months, I will make sure that you disappear. Now, go find a place to live together."
"Uncle Mac, you can't make us..."
"Robin, enough. Do what I said." Mac directed as he pointed his finger at the door. "Oh, and Patrick stay away from the hospital, or I will give you an appearance ticket for trespassing."
Anna who had stayed silent during this, looked at Mac and said, "Why did you do that?"
"Because thanks to the damage Robert and you wrought on that young woman, she has very low self-esteem and that young man loves your daughter. So, stay out of it, do what you do best, come to town, do whatever you are doing here, then leave." He snapped then with a heavy sigh, told her.
"Anna, I know that you love your daughter, but sometimes, love just isn't enough. Deal with whatever you need to then either stay here for at least a few years or go. She doesn't deserve this constant ebb and flow you do."
Mac returned to the conference room only to find Alexis now glaring at him as she came to speak to him. "Mac, you arrested Kate Howard."
"No, I held her overnight in one of my cells. She is behind this broken nose and black eye. Now if you will excuse me, I have to deal with idiot number two and my middle child." Looking at his daughter who wouldn't meet his eyes as she talked to her sister and Jax who was talking to Kate Howard and the woman claiming to be her cousin. "Maximillia, Jasper, my office now."
Wincing at being called by her full name, the petite blond followed her dad to his office. Felicia entered and Mac sighed then told her. "Felicia, I am going to tell you exactly what I told Anna. Frisco and you have wrought damage on our daughters, either be here for a few years or stay away. Just stop coming and going and tell Frisco I told him to get the hell here, or I will take a vacation and drag his deadbeat ass here."
The blond flushed and went to protest only for Mac to dismiss her. "But-"
"No, go home and think about what I said. We will talk later, Felicia." He gently escorted the woman to the door and then pressed a kiss to her cheek and said, "I know you love our daughters, but right now, they need steadiness and a no nonsense talking to from someone who know more of the situation than you do."
Once Felicia had left, Mac told his daughter. "Tell me from the beginning what happened."
Listening to her explanation, getting that she had skipped over something very important, he watched Jax during her explanation. What he saw surprised him, admiration, and clearly, he cared for his daughter, but thankfully, it wasn't love or desire. Still, he wasn't happy and when Maxie talked about exiting the jet and being attacked by Carly, he waited then told her. "I know that you have left out something important, when you can tell me the truth, I will be waiting."
"Now, Jax, what I want to know from you is what you think the two of you should do about this marriage?" Mac inquired.
"Uh, dad." His daughter's uneasy tone had him looking at her and she flushed as she told him. "I sort of screwed up. I didn't know until we were actually married that we have to stay married for a year and a day."
"Explain?" He inquired. When she had explained, he told her. "I really doubt that that is legal, Maxie."
"What about Carly?" She asked.
"I do agree that she could press charges, but as long as the two of you are married, she can't force either of you to testify against one another." Mac said as he hid the need to smirk. He had an idea, and it was a doozy. "So, for now, the two of you need to stay married."
"Thats good, because it gives Jax long term protection against Carly trying to trap him into marriage again." Maxie earnestly stated.
"Maxie, I am quite certain I can handle Carly." Jax protested. "While I appreciate what you did, I would have been fine."
"Really, then why did I have to convince the two men who had kidnapped you that I was part of the plan?" She inquired. "Without my help, you would have ended up married to the shewolf."
"Wait, what men?" Mac inquired.
"Two men she hired. I overheard that she was blackmailing them with the knowledge that they were aware that Diego Alcazar was trying to disobey his dad, and they were helping him." Maxie stated.
"So, these men, they weren't in the employ of Morgan?" Mac inquired.
"No, I thought that they used to work for Lorenzo Alcazar." Maxie stated.
Shaking his head, Mac said "Okay, lets get this back on track. Maxie, whether you stay married is up to Jax and yourself, but I want you to consider taking that job offer that Kate Howard made to you."
"Dad, she no longer runs that magazine, its why she accidentally exposed you as a writer." Maxie replied.
"Mac, you really are..." Jax asked sounding surprised.
"Don't finish that statement." Mac ordered then told him. "No, I am not the writer. If I did take up writing it would be mystery fiction, or crime fiction, most definitely not romance novelist." He spoke.
"Maxie, if looks as if Kate is going to be sticking around in town." Jax told the younger woman. "She is still looking for help, it just won't be with Couture, at least no right now."
"Jax, do you think that you could talk to her, for me?" Maxie asked excitedly then looking at her dad said "Wait, why did you arrest her?"
"She was responsible for this." Mac said pointing to his swollen nose, and his blackened eye. "Kate Howard and your sister were fighting, and I thought that things had settled down then for some reason, your sister called her Stacy and Miss Howard slapped Georgie."
"Georgie called Kate Howard, Stacy?" Maxie questioned looking at her dad in horror.
"Yes, after calling her Becky. I get not using the correct name, but that went a little too far." Jax replied.
"Its a white woman insult. A Becky is a mainstream ordinary woman who follows the crowd, who is privileged, generic and has no idea that she is basically a bitch, a Stacy is a snobby version of Becky who vain and rude and uses that she is a woman to get what she wants."
"SHE is never going to hire me, after this." Maxie cried out annoyed with her sister then she thought about Georgie's secret and spoke. "Maybe that is a good thing."
"Well, either way, Jax, deal with the press about this marriage, and Maxie, I expect you to fill me in on what you are still keeping to yourself, Yes, I know that you have kept something from me." Mac replied then to get a little of his own back, hiding his need to grin asked. "So, are you moving in with your husband or..."
"No." Maxie replied sounding horrified. "No offense, Jax, but you're old and more than likely set in your ways and I have seen your wardrobe, I wouldn't be able to share a closet, because I use half of Georgie's, and ..."
Jax had seen the way that Mac had begun to laugh and told her. "Maxie, your dad is just messing with you, but it does raise up a bit of a situation. I felt very strange leaving my wife at home with her parents. So, how about this, I own the building my penthouse is in, there is a matching penthouse that was meant for my mother, but she prefers to stay at the hotel when visiting. Kate is going to be buying on of the penthouses on the floor below mine."
"Jax, I was not serious." Mac replied sounding foreboding.
"No, but I was worried about Carly attacking Maxie. It's not as big as mine, it's a two-bedroom place, but it is safe and even Maxie can't have that many clothes as the closet is the exact same size at the bathroom." Jax said with a chuckle.
"Dad, may I?" Maxie asked holding her breath, hoping that her dad would agree because while she loved Mac and the house she had grown up in, she had most definitely outgrown the available closet space.
"I am not so sure that this is such a good idea." Mac replied, annoyed that instead of being tweaked by his comment, the two miscreants in front of him had taken the idea and run with it. "Maxie, you aren't really married to him."
"Well, she sort of is." Jax pointed out. "Plus, Mac, this way she can get a feel for what working for Kate is like."
"Fine, but you are to keep her away from your brother." Mac warned. "I know that he is in town. He has been seen."
Grimacing, Jax told him. "He left me a message last night, telling me that he had to head to Europe, last night, for some sort of treasure hunt."
Mac filed that info in the back of his mind as he dismissed the two of them and then went to speak to the attorneys who were still in the conference room after hugging his daughter and telling her that she had to wait at least until tomorrow to flee the house. "I love you, Maxie."
"Love you too, Dad." She whispered as she turned to leave so that Jax and she could have the promised conversation. "Even if I hate your wardrobe."
Jason was telling Elizabeth what he had heard the previous evening at the penthouse.
"So, let me get this straight, Georgie Jones, married Johnny but didn't need to. Then beat up Kate Howard. Mac arrested both of them." She said laughing as she watched over their son who was eating cheerios. "I spoke to Epiphany this morning; she told me that Mac came into the ER last evening with a broken nose and he left with Patrick under arrest. So, he has the whole set of husbands under arrest this morning."
"Sean sent Diane Miller to retrieve Johnny this morning, I hope he remembers to mention Georgie as well." Jason said. "We need to talk about what is going on with Sonny."
"I was thinking about that." She replied as she handed him Cam's sippy cup which he filled then returned to their son. "From what little you have told me. I think that Sonny is using this as a power play against Carly. He wants her away from the boys and if she actually signed paperwork exchanging money for custody, that is going to look very bad to a judge."
"But why take the boys with Leticia to Italy." Jason replied. "That is the part that concerns us."
"He can't just stay in Italy, can he?" She asked sounding doubtful. "Plus, Michael is in school, and it starts next week thanks to the delay."
"No." Jason replied then said. "He could have spoken to the school. He has done that before when we have had to send the boys to the island because of some nonsense created by Carly or himself."
"Have you thought about asking him?" Elizabeth asked.
"I just believe that he would lie." Jason replied then went to lift Cam out of his highchair. "So, what are your plans today while Cam and I are out looking for us a new house?"
Groaning, Elizabeth told him. "I am in surgery with Monica thanks to Alan banning Patrick for the day. Its a heart transplant so it might be a long day in the OR."
"I didn't think Monica still performed those." Jason said.
"Dr Julian is the primary, but they still need Monica's expertise as this is going to be a difficult transfer." Elizabeth said as she went to change into her scrubs. Pressing a kiss to Jason's lips, she said. "Are you sure that you two will be, okay?"
"We will be fine." Jason replied then went to wash his son up and take him with him to meet with Diane Miller after she finished retrieving the Zacchara kid. Watching from the front door as Elizabeth joined Marco, he went to the window and watched for them to exit the building and get into the waiting SUV before putting Cam's light jacket on him.
Grabbing the diaper bag, he exited the apartment and thanked Francis for agreeing to stay with him today. "Elizabeth said she would feel better if Cam had both of us with him."
"Do you have any idea what sort of house Elizabeth is going to be looking for." Francis asked. "What about your wants. I know that both of you are going to want someplace simple, but there is quite a wide berth that that covers."
"We have a list that I sent to Diane's office yesterday. She should have a list that she has whittled down for me." Jason replied. Hearing his phone ringing, he said "Morgan."
"Hey, just wanted to say one thing." Elizabeth replied as she got out of the SUV at the hospital. "I love you."
"I love you too." He replied, his voice husky as he thought about how long he had dreamed of being able to say that to her without fear of being rejected. "I was thinking, how about dinner tonight? I will arrange for Alice or Monica to babysit, and we can have a dinner, just the two of us."
"Monica is going to be beat, but I have an idea." She said then told him. "Barring something going wrong, I WILL meet both of you at 6PM."
Jason told her. "Meet you then."
Diane Miller and Alexis Davis were attempting to come up with a way to deal with Mac when the man himself returned to the conference room and told Kate Howard. "We will need to meet to fix this mess you have created in my life, but right now, I have other things on my plate. You can go for now. As for your, Miss Falconari. I am sorry, I had no idea that you were placed into the holding cell until it was late. You may leave with my apologies."
"Miss Miller, your, client, my daughter and the DA may join me in my office."
Diane looked like she wanted to object but couldn't and remain professional so, she silently followed the parade heading to the man's office. Kate and Olivia were about to exit the station when they saw Jax talking to an older woman who was laughing at him while Maxie stood there looking stunned.
"Jax, you are an idiot." The woman was scolding her son while patting the young petite blond on the shoulder. "Thank you for saving this idiot."
"Ladies, we were waiting for you." Jax said as they exited the station thankfully without any reporters gathered as they got into the waiting limo. "Maxie, this is the very delightful Kate Howard, Kate this is Maxie Jones."
"Pleased to meet you, Miss Jones." Kate replied then told her. "When I have had about eight hours of sleep, I would really like to speak to you about a job, but right now, I am tired and expecting your father to pay me a visit this morning."
Maxie opened her mouth to speak then went silent then went to speak again before telling Kate. "I would love to take that job, but I can't keep my mouth shut and I don't think that is such a good idea."
Kate smirked and with a wink told her. "I know that your father didn't write those books. I finally figured out who Sophie le Couer was about three o'clock this morning. Trust me, I will do my best to fix my mistake without revealing who it really is."
Seeing the doubtful look in the young woman's eyes as they arrived at the hotel. As they exited the hotel, they saw the waiting press and with a sigh, Kate just smiled and waved while her cousin ducked out of the way, then the camera flashes went off again as Jax exited the limo, thankfully the press wasn't interested in the young woman that they were sure was merely assistant when she got out with Mary Jacks.
They had all seen Brenda Barrett arriving earlier that morning, having flown in straight from London where she lived with her sister. Kate ignored the questions being called out to herself and the intrusive ones being asked of Jax, but then when she had gathered them in the hotel, announced that she would be releasing another blog that afternoon regarding what her statement regarding Malcolm Scorpio had meant.
Elizabeth was scrubbing up to prep for the upcoming surgery only to be told that it had been delayed by two hours.
"That is the problem with transplants." Monica replied as they went to the on call rooms. "We often have false starts. Do you have any paperwork you need to do, because we have to remain available."
"None." Elizabeth replied as Monica invited her to join her in her office.
"I was hoping that you would tell me what is going on with your father. I overheard Steven and Emily talking about it a bit." Monica said as they got comfortable waiting to find out if and when the transplant would go ahead.
Elizabeth gave her the whole story from her side.
Shaking her head, Monica replied. "Your father and mother were always a bit distant when they moved to Boulder, but I am surprised about how they have treated you. I know that they love you. I would run into them at conferences, and they would always be bragging about Steven and yourself. When they sent Sarah here, I was sure that it was because they were having problems with her. Then when you showed up and I heard the story of how you got to Port Charles, I called them, to ream them out but they weren't reachable."
"Then when you went through all you did without them showing up, I always wondered what the hell they were thinking of. Now, I can't help thinking that serving with Doctors Without Borders has done them no favors. You have grown into a beautiful smart and successful young woman in spite of all that you have dealt with. You know, Lila, loved you."
Elizabeth said, "I loved her too."
"She once told me that you would surprise us, someday. I think that she knew how Jason felt about you back then. Its why I believe that she sent that note to Jason. My guess is that she sent him a note telling him to come to speak to her. Unfortunately, she died before it could be resolved. What worries me is that note. How did the note you wrote end up in an envelope and how did her letter to Jason end up in her book."
"At first, I thought maybe Emily... she had a problem with Jason and myself dating at one point, but she claims to know nothing about it and I believe her." Elizabeth replied.
Monica was about to reply when Alan entered her office and told her. "I am heading home, its been a very long night. If you see Drake or Scorpio, call her uncle."
With her lips tugging up into a smile, Elizabeth listened as Alan told his wife about his deal with Mac. "The only part he couldn't figure out was who to have step in for the two weeks he is going to be gone fishing."

Mac was filing the last of the paperwork, his mind on his planned discussion with his newest son in law, he had agreed to hold it later this evening after Diane Miller had refused to leave him with Johnny and Georgie. He had a whole laundry list of items on his list up to and including his plans for his old night club.
"Mac, what the hell is this about?" The bald man asked as he entered his former bosses office. "And what is this I hear about you having a new career."
"I will shoot you with your own gun, Taggert." Mac replied as he leaned back in his office chair and looked at the man entering his office. "I told you to call me, not to drive all the way here from Syracuse."
"I needed the drive." Taggert replied. "What's up?"
"I am taking two weeks off, I have someone I intend to throw this mess into their hands, I was thinking that I needed a fishing buddy." Mac replied then told him. "I have had a very bad week."
Snickering, Taggert replied. "I heard about it from my sister. Your name is being brandied about as the latest hottest author of woman's romance novels or that you are the newest hero."
"That is the very least of my headaches. I have my ex-wife in town dealing the Floyd's corruption, Anna in town for only who knows what reason, Jerry Jacks in town looking for the Cassadine diamond and the ice queen here looking at well, plus a rogue Jersey cop who was wandering around, a couple of bounty hunters, plus the murder of the that crazy Zacchara mobster, his son..."
"The dark prince." Taggert said scoffing. Seeing Mac's frown, he said. "Kid is a classically trained pianist whose been trying to escape his family for years. He once got all the way as far as Albany before he was brought back. If he killed his father, I would hand him a medal and shake his hand."
"Turns out he married my daughter yesterday." Mac replied and saw the surprise, then added "Georgie, not Maxie."
"Well that is unexpected. I thought she was dating that moron Hornsby." He replied.
"Nope, that ended thankfully. I don't even know when they met. Anyhow, the very same day, Robin and a doctor named Patrick Drake ended up married accidentally and Maxie tricked Jasper Jacks into marrying her."
Taggert let out loud chuckles as Mac told him that story. "Poor bastard."
"He described her as a whole lot of sunshine with a little bit of hurricane mixed in." Mac confessed. "I was taking my time before going to speak to Kate Howard and heard that Brenda Barrett showed up in town from a crime reporter wanting a quote on this drugged out naked male found outside his apartment complex last night shooting his vehicle claiming that his tires were talking to him."
"You do know that that is very much over., with Jax and the Barrett woman." Taggert replied. "She burnt that bridge when she chased after Sonny while engaged to Jax."
"Thankfully, their marriage is about Carly not Brenda, but I want to pick your brain about some things that have been going on here. I am hoping to have a third person joining us. For now, I plan to leave Sunday, if you are interested."
"Sure, I have the time. Now, if you will excuse me, I am going to pay a visit to the DA, for old times' sake." Taggert cheerfully replied, a bit surprised to hear Mac growl. "What?"
"I blame her for Georgie's wedding, she just had to tempt fate. Anyhow, she is busy with a press conference regarding the mayor's arrest by the Sheriff. He resigned at midnight last night. Go easy on her, her husband was murdered last week by Sam McCall."
"Wow, I am sure that Morgan dealt with that." Taggert replied.
"Morgan and she ended last February. She went nuts when he moved on. She is in Shadybrook as she went after Lansing, blaming him and threatening Carly Corinthos who is under arrest and Courtney Matthews for losing Jason. Ironically none of them would be happy with who Morgan is apparently married to according to Alan Quartermaine."
"No." Taggert said shaking his head. "There is only two women that would set Carly off, and you told me that your niece is married to a doctor. Tell me he isn't married to Elizabeth Webber."
"Yes, and he is also the father of her son Cameron. Turns out that someone altered the tests a few years ago, my guess would be one of the above-mentioned idiots. Rumor is that Sonny is in trouble,"
"He always manages to slip out of it." Taggert replied sounding a bit bitter at not being able to arrest the man he knew was a criminal.
"Rumor is, that Morgan is the senior partner." Mac told him. "I have heard rumors from Donnelly, he called to warn me because Helena Cassadine has been poking around, she put Luke Spencer in a coma, he is barely hanging on. He says that it is all tied together, that the mob mess is tried to that woman and some secret that Spencer has."
"That is what you want to talk to me about." Taggert replied.
"You and my other potential guest." Mac said. "Now, if you will excuse me, I have to go talk to the woman who gave me this black eye."
With his lips twitching, Taggert said. "I was going to be polite and not mention it, but now that you have... what happened?"
"Its too embarrassing to talk about." He replied. Then exited his office and directed Taggert to where he could watch the end of Alexis' press conference taking advantage of the press being busy with her, to escape his station to head to the hotel.
