I do not own any of the characters except for Arabella.
~Arabella's POV~
I walked down the school steps holding hands with Jack to overhear Eddie, Milton, and Kim's conversation.
"You're not gonna believe it. Duke Evans is coming to the mall this weekend!" Eddie told Kim.
"Never heard of him." I shook my head.
"Check it out." Milton held up his phone and showed us all a video of some guy, who I'm gonna assume is Duke, breaking some boards for an advertisement.
"Duke Evans is a loser who travels around in a motor home doing karate demos." Jack said bitterly after the video had ended.
"He's having a board-breaking challenge to see if anybody can break his record." Milton explained to us.
"Ooh, Jack, you should try." I said to him, smiling.
"I'd love to break that guy's record, watch him soak up his tears with his own mullet." Jack said with an evil grin.
"I don't know, Jack. You think you're ready to take on a guy like the Duke?" Eddie said.
"Yeah, I kind of do." Jack let go of my hand and kicked three lockers shut. As Jack walked back over Jerry came walking in... in pajamas.
"Uh, dude? You know you came to school in your pajamas, right?" Jack asked, noticing him too.
"Oh yeah, I know. I didn't sleep a wink last night." Jerry said casually. "I've got family in town and I have to share my bed with my cousin Pepito."
"Pepito!" We all said with hatred into the distance.
"So you're gonna go to class like that?" Kim asked, motioning his pajamas.
"Pssh, class? No, no no." Jerry snorted, "I'm going to bed." He yawned before walking into his locker, stepping into it and closing it behind him.
"I can't believe he's really going to bed—" Eddie started.
"Hey!" Jerry shouted while opening the locker, "You kids keep it down out there, okay?"
Don't you get all tough with me, I'm saying, won't you come kick it with me? And we can have a ball, run up the wall, this is how we do, and no matter how much, I chop and punch, it's not as cool as kickin' it with you.
Here we go, let's start the party, chop it up like it's karate.
everybody, don't you get all tough with me, I'm saying, won't you come kick it with me? And we can have a ball, run up the wall, this is how we do, and no matter how much I chop and punch, it's not as cool as kickin' it with you.
I was sitting on the bench in the dojo watching Jerry helped Jack practice for the board breaking contest.
"Time." Milton said when the time was up.
"Twenty-one boards." Eddie announced and Jack and Jerry high-five each other, "That was awesome!"
"Thanks, Eddie." Jerry said smugly, "See it's all about technique and focus. I do this whole meditation to keep..."
"He was talking about Jack." I cut him off.
"I'll see you guys later." Kim said, walking out dressed in a red and white strapped dress.
"Well, have fun." Jack said, not even noticing the dress as he walked over to sit down next to me on the bench.
Kim looked around expectantly, waiting for anyone to comment on her clothes, but the boys were completely oblivious. "Aren't you gonna say anything about my outfit?"
"What outfit?"
"Nope."
"Didn't notice."
"You look the same to me."
"I'm a candy-striper, you freaks." Kim exclaimed. "I'm volunteering at the hospital."
"And what exactly does a candy-striper do?" Milton asked.
"I cheer up the patients, bring them flowers and do everything I can to ignore what's in their bedpans." Kim said a little disgusted at the end.
"Okay, let's get back to work, Jerry." Jack said, while standing up from the bench, "I really wanna break that jerk's record."
"Dude, what do you have against Duke?" Jerry asked. "He's got the hair of a god."
"He was my hero until I met him." Jack said, a little bummed out.
Jack told them a story of how Duke had told him that he'd never be good at karate when he met him as a child. And how he had embarrassed him in front of a big crowd.
I frowned, "Aw, babe, what a jerk."
"That guy is a jerk, but he's right. I think you could rock one of them glitter getups." Eddie said.
"Could we get back to work?" Jack asked, walking over to the mat.
"Aw, dude, I'm fried." Jerry said tiredly, "Can we take a break?"
"Your cousin still in town?" Eddie asked him.
"Yeah, and get this, last night Pepito pe-peed the bed." Jerry said.
"Let's just break a few more boards. I really wanna beat this guy." Jack said getting our attention back to the training.
"Fine." Jerry groaned before standing up.
"You ready?" Jack asked while getting into position.
"Yeah." Jerry nodded and held up a board. Jack punched through it and went to kicked the next one but ended up kicking Jerry's rib.
Jerry fell to the floor upon impact, I ran to his side, "Jerry, are you okay?!"
"Jerry, I'm so sorry. I thought you were ready." Jack apologized, standing on the other side of Jerry.
"He's all right. He's just a little groggy." Milton assured us while taking Jerry by the shoulders, "Jerry!" He continued before slapping him, "It's Milton." He slapped him again.
"Stop slapping him." I said calmly before shouting, stop slapping him. "We gotta get him to a hospital."
"A hospital." Milton said like it was a genius idea.
"You are alright." Eddie agreed as the three boys helped Jerry stand up before Jack brought his arm over his shoulder to support him while they walked towards the door. "And don't worry, Jerry, you are in good hands."
The next second, Jack somehow managed to walk Jerry right into a pillar, and the poor boy fell to the floor again.
...
At the hospital we were all in the waiting room, waiting to hear about Jerry's condition. Eddie and Milton were both sitting and Jack and I were pacing the floor, well Jack was pacing and refused to let go of my hand so I was pacing with him.
"Jerry was tired. I pushed him too hard just so I could what, break Duke's record? He's in the hospital because of me." Jack said pacing.
"Jack, you have to relax, I'm sure Jerry's ok." I said to him, as the doctor opened the door and walked out, "Doctor. Could you tell us how he's doing?"
The doctor turned to us, "Uh, yes, but let me see if I can put it in terms you would understand. He has a boo-boo on his tum-tum." Doctor explained to us. "And so we had to order some insidey pictures."
Mitlon stepped forward, "You mean you're taking an x-ray to check for a bilateral contusion along his external fractoid?"
"Well, thank you, Dr. Wannabe." The doctor said.
"Well, you're welcome, Dr. Talk-down-to-me." Milton threw back as they gave each other intense stares.
We waited a few minutes and a shrill scream was heard although the hospital. "So much pain!" Jerry whines as they rolled him away.
...
"You worry about taking care of Duke Evans and I'll worry about taking care of Jerry." Kim told Jack.
"I'd love to show up that jerk." Jack said in frustration, "But I can't go through with it. My heart is not in it."
"Your heart is not in what?" the doctor from before asked, "Your chest? Because that could be serious." We all gave him strange looks before going back to our conversation.
"Fine." Kim said, "Don't break your boards, but you can't tell Jerry. You are just gonna make him feel guilty."
"She's right Jack." I sat down next to him
"Yeah, maybe you are right." Jack sighed in defeat and then sitting down.
"Of course I'm right." Kim said, "I've been working at a hospital for almost six hours."
"Now, let Jerry rest." Kim continued, "That poor boy is suffering."
...
Later we were walking through the mall and toward the dojo and saw Duke Evans on a stage and was preparing for the show outside their dojo. Jack rolled his eyes when he saw him and quickly grabbed my hand to drag me inside.
"Hey, scooter, coming to the board-breaking show tonight?" Duke said which stopped us.
Jack clicks his teeth, "My name's not scooter. It's Jack. And no, I'm not."
"Too bad. There's gonna be a splinter shower, brother." Dune said dramatically and I looked at him in disbelief, "I guess you'll just be one of the losers that don't see it." And step down the stage in front of us.
"I don't think you're all that, Duke." Jack told him, "In fact, I wanted to come down here and challenge your record, but my friend's in the hospital." We turned to leave but Duke snickers.
"Friend in the hospital." He said using air quotes, "Sure. A little wimp like you couldn't break a board. I don't think you could break wind, Jack."
"Really?" Jack asked before walking over to board and breaking it.
I sent Duke a smug smile before I followed Jack into the dojo.
"Those boards weren't for breaking." he called after us "I was building a spice rack for my fan."
...
"How come Jerry gets a teddy bear and I don't?" I asked as Jack dragged me through the hospital, "I'm your girlfriend."
"Because he is in the hospital." Jack answered simply.
"Still, that's is so unfair that, he get a bear and I don't." I give him a pout on my face.
Jack stopped me and kissed me for a few seconds before pulling away, "Better?" he asked with a smirk.
"Nah, I still want a bear." I joked before they continued walking until they reached Jerry's room. But much to their surprise they heard screams from inside so they quickly walked in.
"Wait, no no, stop! I was faking the whole thing." Jerry screamed just as they walked in to find him strapped against the bed with Milton and Eddie standing beside him dressed like surgeons.
"What?" Kim gasped.
"Yeah. There's nothing wrong with me." Jerry explained, "I just wanted my own bed." He continued as Milton and Eddie took off their masks. "Milton, Eddie? Hey, when did you guys become doctors?"
"I don't believe this." Jack walked forward, "I've been worried sick. I even bought you this stupid talking bear." he hit it and it started talking.
"I wuv you very much." The bear said.
"Oh no, you don't. He's not worth yo wuv." okay that was probably the cutest thing ever.
"Guys, I'm sorry." Jerry apologized, "I don't know what I was thinking. I mean the food, my own bed, Kim's oh-so-refreshing footbaths."
"Ew! You gave him a footbath?" I said in disgust.
"Hey, I am not proud of it, okay?" Kim exclaimed looking more than a little traumatized.
"Let's just get out of here." Jack said as throw the bear at Jerry.
"Guys." Jerry said, "Guys, guys! Could somebody untie me, please?" We ignored him and walked out the room.
As we walked down the halls we ran into Phil rolling a drunken looking Rudy in a wheelchair.
"Phil, Rudy? What happened to him?" I asked looking at the corndog all over Rudy's face.
"I went to Captain Corndog's and accidentally ordered the millionth wiener." he said with a slur, "They gave me free food for life. I ate and I ate And I ate and I ate-" Phil hit him, "And I ate and then I blacked out."
"I found him wandering around the courtyard, His shirt off, his pants unbuckled, And pieces of wiener all over his face." Phil explained.
"I have a problem." Rudy sobbed as Phil rolled I'm away.
"Yes he does." I shook my head.
...
"Any of you panty-wearing punks wanna step up and challenge my record?" We heard Duke asks as we ran towards the stage, "That's what I thought!"
"Hey, Duke, I'll give it a shot." Jack called up to him as I followed him up on the stage.
"Jack!" Duke spitted out his name as Jack jumped up on the stage.
"I just need somebody to hold my boards." Jack reminded us.
"I'll do it." Jerry came running over in his hospital gown, "Jack, I wanna make things right. Now let's break this fool's record." Jerry shouted.
"Okay, scooter. You ready on the clock?" Duke called over to the guy, he nodded, "You gotta break boards in 15 seconds. And go!" he said like it was a lot of boards in a small amount of time.
"You got this." I gave Jack a good luck kiss before I hoped off the stage.
I stood back and watched Jack break board after board after board as the timer counted down. Jack broke his final board and we all looked over as the timer ran out and Jack had broken 29 boards.
"29 boards!" Jack shouted happily, "We did it!" Jack and Jerry hugged.
"Jack that was amazing." I ran up on the stage and hugged Jack.
"You know what?" Duke asked, "You got lucky, Jack. But I'll be back next year, And you'd better be ready." He told Jack before he turned to a group of ladies, "One of you sweet ladies wanna give Dukey a ride to the bus station?" He asked a few woman who give him a weirded out look. "Fine!"
Duke stormed off angrily and Jack turned to Jerry. "Jerry, that was incredible. Man, I couldn't have done it without you." They bro-hugged. "Whoo-oo!" Jerry raised his hands making his gown come undone.
"Dude, you gotta keep your gown closed. Everyone can see the ponies on your underpants." Jack told him.
"They're not ponies. They're unicorns." Jerry said while he tried to cover his back.
