Slowly catching this story up so it matches the same number of chapters on AO3
The three cats known as Lector, Frosch, and Happy were relaxing in the living room watching a Movie Lacrima when a stern looking Irene walked in and stood in front of the screen, blocking their view which earned protests. She had one hand on her hip and tapped her foot impatiently.
"Who made a mess in the kitchen?" Irene asked sweetly but the irritated look on her face betrayed her tone.
Happy shrugged his shoulders and chewed on a fish head while trying to look around Irene and at the movie.
Irene rolled her eyes and turned to Lector who was sipping on his juice box. "Do you know who dropped the bread and half a jar of mayo on the floor?"
Lector shrugged his shoulders and hummed "I don't know" which made Irene sigh.
But Irene smirked when she reached the last little kitten. The first one is a big airhead, the second timid, but the third kitten is just right.
Irene leaned over and picked up Frosch who snuggled into her embrace. Happy and Lector looked at each other nervously.
"Frosch, can you tell mommy who made the mess in the kitchen?" Irene said, cooing as she gently stroked and pat Frosch's head.
"It was Happy and Lector!" Frosch said, flapping their arms like an excited child.
Irene grinned and Happy and Lector nervously smiled at Irene.
"I have to go meet Natsu at the guild!" said Happy getting up to escape Irene's wrath. Lector tried to make the same excuse but Irene stopped this with a simple gentle grip on their tails.
Happy and Lector grumbled as they were forced to clean up the mess they had made in the kitchen. They originally looked up and saw Irene cuddling Frosch while she supervised them ensuring a good job.
When they finished, Happy and Lector felt tired and sad. They had made their mom angry and she punished them.
As they tried to leave, Irene called them over. They were instantly lifted into her arms where Irene hugged them and placed kisses on their cheeks and foreheads.
"I'm not mad with you two, okay? I just don't want a mess is all. Next time, just make sure to clean up afterwards. Promise?"
Lector and Happy nodded and hugged her back. Irene noticed they both looked a little downcast so she decided to continue movie night with them. Irene whipped up some quick snacks and the four cuddled on the couch to watch their movie.
Happy and Lector instantly cheered up and the four enjoyed their movie as they laughed the morning away.
When Erza arrived later that afternoon, she smiled at the sight of her mother napping with three adorable kitties.
