14 - Zuno's Choice
"What do you mean 'end it?' Frieza is dead," Merus asked.
I nodded, "He is dead, but his subordinates run much of the universe, as far as I know. They hold up the dregs of his empire as best as they can, but it is fracturing. I will end their attempts to take over what remains, consolidate it, and do my best to make things right."
"Make things right..." Goku said, deep in thought. His eyes lit up after a second, "Oh! The Saiyans used to work for Frieza and they would conquer planets to sell them to people, at least that is what Vegeta said. Are you going to stop it? Undo what he did?"
"I am going to undo it, and return those who still live back to their rightful homes. Frieza's empire was tyrannical and terrible. Millions of people were killed and displaced from their worlds. Who knows how many slaves still exist as they try to hold together what remains of the frost demon's empire. I will end it, no matter how long it takes."
"That is a very honorable thing to do, Miss 21," Merus said.
Goku nodded, "You know, 21, you are pretty incredible."
I laughed lightly, "You think so?"
"Absolutely! I'm still not sure who Moro is, or what a World Eater is, but it seems like a strong new ability you have. After just a few hours you got it fully under your control. I know without a doubt how difficult techniques are to learn."
I almost felt bad since I was essentially a cheater, but to not take advantage of every ability I had would be foolish. Feeling bad is just a waste of time, "I appreciate you saying that, Goku. But it is just as impressive that you somehow just massively increased your power level to keep up with me...out of nowhere it seems."
He smiled that carefree smile my favorite protagonist was known for, "I just love the fight!"
"You know, after you recover, you should challenge Vegeta to a fight, make sure he gets stronger too. Where we are at now, it just isn't enough."
His face shifted to surprise, and I felt the same from Merus.
"What do you mean?" Goku asked.
"I mean, more than what we have faced so far in Cell, more threats are always on the horizon. It should be a few years yet, and I will be back by then, but we need to be ready to protect Earth. And trust me when I say that there will be incredible fights in the future," I said.
He smiled at that, "Now that is something to look forward to!"
I turned to Merus and bowed at him, I figured giving a hug would be awkward. "Thank you so much, Merus. Getting out of that haze would have been next to impossible without your help. The added training is something I will build upon in the future. Thank you once again."
"Yeah! Thanks, Merus!"
He smiled, "You are welcome, 21, Goku." His bow was more shallow, that of a teacher to a student.
I turned to Goku, "Do you need a ride back or...?"
"I'm alright! Thanks again! Good luck against Frieza's army and don't be a stranger!" Goku said.
"I will be back to Earth soon!"
Goku disappeared with Instant Transmission, Merus was picked up in a small Galactic Patrol ship, and I also Instant Transmissioned back to 16.
~o*o~
"21! Are you alright?"
I smiled up at the huge android, knowing that he was honestly worried about me. "I am much better now. How much did you watch?"
He always had a tough face, but his worry was easy to see as his frown darkened his face a bit, "All of it..."
The silence hung and I walked forward and leaned into the big guy. He put his arms around me and it felt safe...even if I was stronger than him. The emotional support was enough. I really missed Trunks and had years until I could see him again, but 16 is family. I could trust him with my life.
I pulled back and smiled, "Alright, I need to rest, but we should head toward Zuno's planet, let's take our time getting there. I need a bath as well as a meal, and a full night's sleep."
"I will set course now," 16 said. He sat back in the Captain's seat within the bridge of the Majin Throne. I watched what he did, not out of worry that he would screw it up, but more to get accustomed to the ship.
"See here?"
I nodded.
"This can set the time you wish to take to get there, up to max speed or as slow as you wish," 16 said. "I set it for 20 hours even though we could get there in approximately 6 hours."
"Perfect, let's go get some food."
16 and I headed up to the luxurious master suite, where I had essentially an entire home to myself. We accessed the ridiculous amount of food Bulma had people load up and quickly made a fantastic meal. Teriyaki chicken bowls!
I said good night to 16 who left the top deck which was my suite, and headed back to monitor the ship while I got clean and had a rest.
Changing back into my human form let me sit more comfortably in the hot tub, no tail and all that. The onyx black tub had extremely hot water in it, and I let it try to cook me as I lounged. The last 24 hours or so since arriving at the Galactic Patrol Prison had been a whirlwind and I was soaking in the tub to wash myself of the stress and dirt of nearly destroying a planet, defeating Moro, and obtaining more powerful abilities.
The tension behind my eyes began to fade as I sank deeper into the tub.
After about an hour of soaking, I finally got out and changed into some comfortable night clothes falling asleep as soon as I hit the pillow. Say what you want about the last day, but it was the largest victory I've had thus far, even counting Cell, and it took a lot out of me.
~o*o~
"We are approaching the...planet?" 16 messaged to my room.
"On my way!"
I got out of bed and quickly transformed into my true form, feeling the soft and comfortable martial arts pants appear low on my hips with the black tube top and sleeves on my chest and arms. The golden bangles were a familiar and comfortable weight on my pink skin. My gorgeous white hair cascaded around me and I shook it out. The fantastic flowery shampoo smell hit my senses and I took a deep breath.
This is the first step on my path to claim Frieza's empire for myself. I know that Zuno didn't have much power behind him but was able to contact the Supreme Kai if he needed to. Zamasu was able to threaten him and acquire truthful knowledge about the Super Dragon Balls. I would take that one step further and either force Zuno into my service or try to take his Nigh-Omniscience for myself if he refused.
The problem is that I am wary of getting abilities that would alter or mess with my mind. Zuno was a weird and perverted person in the show, and while accumulating power is a goal of mine, I couldn't be sure of the side effects of Zuno's ability. Did it come with the strange traits that he exhibited? Was Zuno just a weird person or did the ability constantly overwhelm him with information to the point that he could only access it a certain amount each day?
Besides that, the power wasn't fleshed out in the show or the manga. It was a complete mystery that if I accepted then I was essentially gambling. The same could be said for abilities like World Eater, the danger potentially eclipsing the benefits, but it was direct power versus knowledge. That isn't to say that knowledge isn't important, but I knew an obscene amount about the Dragon Ball multiverse already, and if worse comes to worse, I am the proud owner of a set of Dragon Balls.
In conclusion, it would be better to press Zuno into my service, or...eliminate him. It was just too great of a weakness that lays unprotected, too great of an asset to not make use of. If he actively knew everything that was happening then it would even be better, but if it were a sort of database of information that he had to actively search to find the information, then having access to him whenever I needed would be ideal.
I used Instant Transmission to appear on the spacious bridge, high-tech panels, stations, and holographic screens lined the entire room and 16 somehow fit in the Captain's chair. The room was lit with blue-white lights and dark Katchin panels and floors, featuring gold trim, just as luxurious as the rest of the ship.
"This is a very...strange world," 16 said.
I nodded, looking at the over-sized plant-in-a-box that was the size of a large estate. It floated there in this clearly artificial system, three moons orbiting the box like it actually had enough gravity to hold them there.
"I could use your help on this mission, but...I might have to kill him. You know that he gave the information to Zamasu, which led to the complete annihilation of a timeline...Which WILL lead to the erasure of a timeline. I can't have that."
I watched 16 carefully, curious as to what his reactions were. I would have to do some questionable things in the future, but it would save uncountable amounts of lives. Universes worth of timelines.
Not only that, but I will have to kill people when I start taking over Frieza's Empire. It is inevitable. And it's not like I can pretend that hundreds of inmates didn't die because of my actions, or that I had actually consumed both Cell and Moro. Granted that they were both sociopathic killers, but it was still cold-blooded murder. I can't pretend that I am the hero of this story.
I am just the person in the right place to do some incredible things.
"I don't like it, but I understand," 16 said, interrupting my thought process.
The Majin Throne stopped close enough to the external docks of Zuno's home, and we accessed the teleportation room. It was something that I figured I wouldn't be using too often, but it was good to have for non-powered individuals. The room appeared like something out of Star Trek, with multiple platforms capable of teleportation.
I accessed the panel and found a targeting system that had a scan of Zuno's docks. 16 and I disappeared in a flash of golden light, reappearing in the beautiful and sunny grounds of Zuno's Docks.
It was easy to navigate towards the entrance of his mansion/temple or whatever it was called. I had to admit to being surprised by how many people were waiting around. For as much as I knew about Zuno, I couldn't imagine him taking more than a handful of requests a day and there were easily 25 people sitting around. Perhaps they came in groups.
I inspected them, finding almost all of the races unrecognizable. They all stared at the imposing form of 16 and me as we walked through the beautiful grounds. We made it to a large set of stairs with honest-to-god escalators in the center. I rose off the ground and just flew up and over them.
Greeting me on the top landing was one of Master Zuno's four attendants, the one wearing a purple haori, "Hello there, thank you for coming."
He seemed to have sent a message to the other 3 and they quickly approached in single file. They all wore haori in matching styles with different colors: brown, blue, and green. They all had a sort of sumo-style hairdo as well. Each of them looked identical in the face with pale skin, large heads, and huge ears. Smaller versions of Master Zuno.
"We are Master Zuno's personal attendants and we see to every one of his needs within the manse." They spoke in unison as if having practiced it quite a bit.
When they finished their little speech, they moved to surround us, and we let them. I could sense no significant ki or magic about them, but they had to have some type of power if they were able to hold off the likes of Frieza's forces. It could also just be his connection to Shin, which I knew Zuno was able to contact somehow, as it was Zuno who told Shin of Zamasu's actions in the future timeline.
This was also an interesting test. If Zuno's power truly gave him omniscience, the type where he actively knows everything and is constantly updated, then he would know why I am here. He would know who I was, and he would already be prepared or would have preemptively contacted Shin. Even if he did though, I liked my odds of defeating Shin in a fight, and I had other things that I could threaten the Supreme Kai with if he was waiting for us.
That being said, I only sensed one other person within the mansion now that the attendants were in front of me.
"We are encircling you as Master Zuno informs us that you are uninvited guests on his planet."
I nodded, "Indeed we are. It's unfortunate, but...you can take us to him...or we can just go there ourselves."
Immediately I used the new ability called Relaxed State, and my power burst forward, knocking the four attendants a few steps back as my aura manifested around me. As soon as I powered up, I felt Zuno fleeing at high speed, his floating hoverchair carrying him away.
Using my aura, I pulled everyone around me into an Instant Transmission, forcing the 4 attendants and 16 to appear with me. Zuno's eyes went wide as he dodged to get past us. I slammed my heel into the side of the flying chair and caused him to crash into a pole. He rolled out and groaned in pain.
"Where are you going, Master Zuno?" I said, taunting him a bit.
It was interesting seeing his demeanor change. In the show, he was completely unphased by anything Bulma or Jaco said, but my presence and power level have changed the game. He got to his feet with the help of his attendants.
"So...how much do you know, Zuno?" I asked rhetorically.
Before he answered, I continued, "How much do you know of what your actions cause in the future?"
This drew his attention beyond the obvious threat.
"What do you mean?"
"How many people live in our timeline?"
He looked like he knew the answer, but I didn't let him speak as I burst my ki outwards.
"At some point, due to your weakness, lack of future sense, and your utter indifference to the knowledge you spout leads to the complete erasure of a timeline. Did you know that?"
I searched his huge head, which was larger than my torso, reading his expression as he reacted to what I said.
"B-but you said it hasn't happened yet? If that is true then it should be easy to avoid!"
"Oh? You don't know? You don't know about the alternate timelines?"
"Of course I do...but I don't exist in them, just like you shouldn't exist in this one."
I flashed over to him as he blinked after speaking. I appeared floating high enough to look down on him. His eyes went wide in shock and fear.
Slowly raising my right hand, a ball of energy formed on my palm. The dark red and black sphere grew and grew until it touched the ceiling. The sphere remained stabilized, but I put enough energy into it to wipe out the entire planet and waited for him to speak.
He looked up, seemingly understanding that I didn't want to drop the sphere. I had to change my intentions to get my point across. I didn't want to kill him, but I had to want it so that he understood it. I had to be ready to murder him, at least that would ensure that he knew there was no way out.
My aura and determination to kill fell onto Zuno like a hammer falling from the sky. He shrank back away from me.
"Please! Miss 21! Do not destroy my world!"
"Did you already contact Shin?" I asked, the malevolent ball of energy swirling above my hand still.
I felt one of his attendants try to pull me away with some sort of telekinetic skill. It didn't do anything as it tried to grasp me through my huge aura of ki, and I didn't even acknowledge the fool who played with his own life so casually.
"I am sorry! I didn't contact him yet, but I was going to ask for his help!" Zuno admitted. He could have been running toward some kind of communication center, I suppose.
I pushed more energy into the sphere, causing pink lightning to begin sparking. The bolts began leaving burning lines all along the ceiling above me.
Two of his attendants finally pushed forward and lay themselves down over the top of Zuno, willing me to take their lives instead of his.
"Please don't kill him!" The one in purple begged.
"Why shouldn't I? Someone who will cause untold death and destruction, why should I not?"
Zuno spoke up again, "Please, you want me to serve you, do you not?"
I narrowed my eyes, but it stood to reason that he knew why I was truly here, "I do...but how could I trust you to work in my interests? How could I trust you to do anything besides serve yourself?"
He nodded, "I understand, but please. I will make an oath of loyalty."
Staring at him dispassionately, I could only think about how he could easily ruin things for me at an opportune moment. I let the orb of ki and magic dissipate and I landed in front of him. He quickly kneeled, moving the attendant out of the way.
"You will make an oath, but I will only accept if you allow me to read your mind while you do so," I said.
"I understand," He said, gulping. This isn't the best way to acquire people and I had a feeling that I would need to take his power anyways, but if I didn't have to then it would be ideal.
I walked forward and placed my hand on the side of his huge head and closed my eyes, "Make your oath."
Entering his mind wasn't as intense as I thought it would be. He didn't have some massive brain that held endless amounts of information. No, his power was just as I thought it was. For example, if everything that ever happened was stored as information on a hard drive, then he was the system that was able to search and pull that information.
He didn't see the future, he didn't know everything, and honestly...he kind of felt...dumb. For lack of a better term. He was a shallow, petty, and perverted man who held...disgusting thoughts.
I kept searching his mind and while I did, I activated Connoisseur Cut on the tip of my finger. In less than a split second, I gently sliced him on the side of his head. Before it could bleed, I pushed healing energy into the cut, and it happened so fast that he didn't register it.

I hesitated, as I thought earlier, I am nervous about taking abilities that might change who I am beyond the physical. But I went ahead and took the risk, though I was more hesitant than when I assaulted the Galatic Patrol Prison and consumed Moro. It would be foolish to be hesitant.

"I Master Zuno of the Infinite Mind, do solemnly swear that I will support, defend, and give my unfettered loyalty to Android 21. I give my full truth and allegiance, unrestricted by other oaths or vows, to the same, or forfeit my life and soul." As he spoke his facial features turned from fear to...adoration. Was I reading this right?
I could feel the truth in his words as he spoke, looking into my eyes...and I felt something else too. He was...what was the word? Turning into a simp?
Oh shit...What have I done? I let go of him and stepped back a single step.
"Good," I said, trying to appear unfazed. I turned to his attendants with an eyebrow raised. "I will require an oath from you all as well."
They quickly ran and kneeled next to Zuno, offering oaths of their own, and I responded.
"Thank you, I graciously accept your oaths of loyalty. I will offer an oath of my own in return. For as long as you maintain your loyalty to me, I will in turn keep this oath to you. I promise to treat you all fairly, as loyal subjects under my protection."
I stepped forward to officially embrace Zuno as my subordinate. I had a quick thought to actually see if he was a simp, and I kissed him on the cheek, just a peck. Then stepped back.
He looked like I just gave him the universe.
Yup, I created a simp out of Master Zuno... And what was his title? The Infinite Mind? How weird...
"Well then, I will give you the rest of the day to move into my ship. It has quarters prepared for you," I said. It was true, when I had sent the wish to Khali about creating the ship, I did include that I wanted another suite that could hold Zuno. I wanted Zuno as my subordinate for a long time, even if I have his ability it would be good to have more people working under me.
"Your attendants should grab as much as they need and we will leave when you are ready. Will you have any difficulty locking your planet down?"
Zuno shook his head, "No, my queen. It has the ability to close itself off from the outside world, making it impossible for those to reach it. I will do that once we are aboard your ship."
I nearly cringed at the queen title, but then I thought about it. I intended to become an Empress so, "Call me Empress 21, if you must use my title."
Zuno bowed deeply as if I gave him some reality-shattering information, "Of course Empress. Do you still intend to reclaim the remains of Frieza's Empire?"
"I do, but we need to make a stop before we go there. Now, send us a message when you are ready and we will make our way out of here."
~o*o~
Zuno's room was very clean, spacious, and luxurious just as anything else on the Majin Throne was. He floated on board on his Frieza-style floating throne and 16 and I showed him to his quarters. He surprisingly loved it, like a miniature self-contained mansion within the ship. This was one of around 12 VIP suites that were just a step below my own.
"Are your quarters to your liking, Master Zuno?" I said formally.
He bowed from his chair, "Empress, it is magnificent."
I nodded, "Good. I will require your presence in the throne room in around 6 hours. Until then, you are free to relax."
He bowed again, "I will serve."
I nodded and left his suite. 16 and I headed to the throne room.
"I admit that I expected that to go a different direction," The deep voice of 16 commented as we walked through the large hallway.
"Same here to be honest. I expected him to try and contact Shin," I said.
"Who is Shin?"
"Oh! He is the Supreme Kai of Universe 7. He essentially works as the head god of Creation for our universe. The counterpart to Beerus the Destroyer."
"That...leaves me with more questions."
"Don't worry about it for now, we shouldn't have to interact with any of them for the better part of a decade."
"I...see," He said, allowing the conversation to go silent as we walked.
We entered the throne room and the sound of moving water and a calm tune of ambient music, like a background note slowly changed like breathing lights. It was nice, soothing even. I sat on my throne and had the displays appear in front of me. It was time that I confirmed the knowledge I had by using the skill I got from Zuno for the first time.
I closed my eyes as I felt out for the ability, causing a window to appear on my HUD.
Would you like to activate Nigh-Omniscience?
"Yes," I said quietly. Then I asked mentally asked my question, "Where is the Saiyan named Broly, located?"
Not just a set of coordinates entered my mind, but I knew the exact galaxy, system, and planet the lost Saiyan and his father resided on. As the information appeared in my mind, I felt a headache immediately pierce through my brain like a metal spike.
"Ahh! Damnit!"
"Are you alright, 21?"
I had my fingers massaging my temples, "Yeah, just trying out a skill...it's painful, but it worked."
He frowned but just watched me worriedly.
I sighed after flooding my mind with healing ki, it was like putting water on a sunburn. I inputted the coordinates on my pop-up screen and the Majin Throne left the now-shielded and shut down Zuno's planet. The timer came on and we would be arriving next to Planet Vampa in around 6 and a half hours.
"Alright, the course is set, I am going to go take a nap. Meet me back here in 6 hours, and we will discuss how to proceed with the next step."
He nodded, "Of course."
~o*o~
I walked into the throne room and found Zuno, one of his attendants, and 16 all waiting for me. "Thank you for coming."
Sitting on my throne, I wasted no time bringing up the next part, "So, this is a bit of tricky work that we need to accomplish. There are two Saiyan's down on Planet Vampa. One of which, is known as the Legendary Super Saiyan of this generation, his name is Broly. His father is also on the planet, along with their crashed spaceship."
Zuno closed his eyes for a second and what looked like rapid eye movement began to take place. In just a second he nodded to me.
"Good. We have one main goal while here: to set up for something in the future. The first is to eliminate Broly's father, Paragus, who keeps him as a slave. A weapon. He intends to turn Broly on Vegeta's family, destroying them in revenge for exiling them to this planet. It is of course the only reason that they live after Frieza's genocide."
"We must eliminate him in such a way that it appears that he was eaten by some of the natural predators on the planet, of which there are many. He isn't extremely powerful at a level of 4,200 and while Broly is obscenely powerful, to my knowledge neither of them have the ability to sense ki."
I looked to Zuno, who once again closed his eyes, "I concur, Empress. They are both amateurs in the ability known as Spirit Control, and have no idea on how to sense other signatures."
Holding back a smile, I continued, "Thank you, Zuno. Now, I need to ensure that Broly believes his father's death was the fault of natural circumstances on the planet and I need to do it in a way that both the gun that Paragus uses is destroyed, but also the controls to Broly's shock collar."
"What will be your goals after that?" 16 asked.
"We will let Broly remain on this planet for a few years. There can be no connection between the death of Broly's father and I. Eventually, I will send a pair of exploratory members of the current Frieza Force to acquire Broly. We can then turn him into a friend and teach him how to be an actual person again, instead of a weapon. So, do you have any ideas as to what can help with that?" I asked everyone.
"The creatures known as Vampa Beasts would be an ideal solution to your problem, Empress. They are large lifeforms that feast on the beetles which in turn feed on them. They are adept at camouflage, allowing them to hide within the ground, acting as ambush predators."
We discussed things for a while until we arrived next to Vampa. I quickly accessed a feature of the ship that only 16 had used and zoomed into the surface. It was extremely difficult to see through the endless storms, the poisonous haze of the atmosphere, and the toxic gases that leaked from the many bogs and swamps. Not only that, but the electromagnetic field prevented nearly all types of communication through.
But I could feel it.
A huge well of energy just waiting to be released. A ball of unbelievable rage and fury, ready to explode at any moment. Broly.
He was a monster, and I could feel that his rage would be equal to his power the second he wished to release it.
The Legendary Super Saiyan indeed.
On my screen, the image of a familiar crashed ship appeared. Outside of it stood a grizzled old man in battered Saiyan armor. He stood with his arms crossed as he watched in the distance where the flashing form of Broly could be seen. He was shadowboxing the air, going through a combat routine under close supervision by his father.
I sighed in relief noticing that the Broly I could see was clearly the Dragon Ball Super version. This implied that while he was emotionally and socially stunted, his growth being held back by only interacting with his psychotic father for years, he isn't a complete rage monster that wouldn't be satisfied except for the complete destruction of everything around him.
In Dragon Ball Super, he has deep emotions and is extremely lonely. He is reserved and quiet, like Tarzan coming back from the jungle, nearly overwhelmed by the amount of people around him when he rejoins society. Cheelai and Lemo are the two Frieza Force members who will recruit him. Cheelai's passion and Lemo's nonthreatening and friendly aura allowed Broly to experience companionship for the first time.
"We wait until night, and hope that they separate for a while," I said.
Almost 4 hours later, the sun was set and Paragus had finished burning meat with his Ki. The two Saiyans quietly ate together.
After night fell, Broly snuck out and flew off into the distance...a good number of miles away. It was time to strike.
"Alright 16, with me," I said.
He nodded and we entered the teleport chambers on the Majin Throne. We appeared just outside of the ship, "Alright, head that way for a bit and find one of those Vampa Beast dens. I'll meet you there."
He nodded and flew off, in the opposite direction than where Broly went. I could sense Broly's ki in the distance, as well as Paragus' inside the ship, and neither seemed aware of us yet, but I kept my power level low, trying to rely on the magical side of it. I used Instant Transmission and appeared inside the ship. Paragus woke up but before he could do anything I hit him with enough force to knock him out, a quick chop to his Trapezius muscles, causing an overflow of blood to his head. He quickly passed out.
He was shirtless, so I put his armor on him...boots too, which was gross. I grabbed his laser pistol and Broly's collar control and Instant Transmissioned with him over to 16.
16 was dodging a Vampa Beast, quite easily, but still made the thing angry. I quickly put my fingers to Paragus' temple and ended him with a quick internal ki spike. I then crushed the collar controller and threw his body on the ground near the Vampa Beast. The thing quickly lashed out and I had to look away as he was devoured. A few items fell to the ground as the beast ate him, one of them being the pistol. I flew down and picked it up, sending a few blasts up into the air, and I shot the beast twice in visible places.
This was the dirtiest and most disgusting thing I have ever done, but it was necessary. I dropped the pistol and the blood remained on the ground. I couldn't meet 16's gaze.
No matter how much I justified it to myself, I had killed a man to help the future of our universe. To help my own goals.
"Let's get out of here," I said.
We Instant Transmissioned to the attendant back on the Majin Throne, just as I felt Broly move back to find the scene of the crime. I felt his power erupt when he discovered it. I felt him go on a rampage as we pulled away from planet Vampa.
I knew this was bad, and was the only way that I could eliminate the future threat of Broly being forced to fight our people. If Paragus lived, he would never let Broly be himself, he would force Broly to fight Vegeta and his family relentlessly. I couldn't let the uncertainty of that possible outcome happen. If I am going to shape the future to my will, then this step is needed.
I just hoped I could live with it.
