Late Nighter's Tavern & Inn
Hiccup sits up in bed but then he feels Heather's hand on his arm and when he turns to her, she says, "We all are hunting. Right now." In a tone that leaves no arguments in any way shape or form. Hiccup just nods his head then agrees, "Of course Heather."
He moves to stand but stumbles back into bed, but Astrid holds him up to keep him from falling over. Hiccup looks to her and thanks her then uses what strength he has left to stand up back up The group leave the inn and vanish into the night. Heather has told Hiccup that if she feels he has not fully fed she will send him back out. Hiccup just nodded and told her he would be back to full strength. Astrid follows Hiccup while Heather and Snotlout head off.
Just outside of town
Hiccup and Astrid find a few drunk men stumbling around so Hiccup whispers, "They are easy prey. Go for their neck it will stop whoever you grab from struggling. Drink until you are satisfied." Astrid nods and watches Hiccup walked out into view. With her now better hearing she hears Hiccup ask, "You alright lads?"
One of the drunk men looks at Hiccup hiccupping, "Y-you are good looking." The drunk looks Hiccup up and down, "Come here." The drunk flirts and makes grabbing motions with his hands. Astrid finds herself growling when she hears this but stops when she realizes what she was doing. She is only mad at herself for a short few seconds before she turns her attention back to Hiccup.
Hiccup laughs softly and slowly begins to walk backwards saying in a low voice, "If you want me, come get me." As he walks backwards Hiccup makes a "come here" gesture with his finger. The drunk man thinks he is going to get lucky, goes over and tackles Hiccup to the ground. They roll around some and vanish from sight. Astrid does not hear anything or see anyone move from her hiding spot. When she is approached by another man alone who is also drunk.
The other man sees her and in his drunken state drops to his knees before Astrid, "A goddess coming to bless me?" Astrid, driven by her newfound instincts smiles and says softly, "I am the goddess of the night. Stay still for me." The man does as he is told and watches her. Astrid kneels down before him, moving her hands to hold his jaw gently.
The man's breath hitches as she moves his head to the side exposing his neck to her. Astrid smirks then sinks her new fangs into his neck. The man does not scream but groans in pleasure however he goes limp in her arms. Once she is well fed, she lets him go and drops his body to the ground. She can see that the man is barely breathing. When she came back to her senses she panics at what she had done.
When she hears someone walk behind her she gets up only to see Hiccup coming from the bushes wiping his mouth. For a moment she forgets about the man she had just killed and is staring at Hiccup. Astrid does a double take when she sees him. When she woke up Hiccup was pale and weak looking and now, he is healthy again. He looks to her with love and says, "See something you like Astrid?" Astrid shakes her head then softly glares at him before saying, "For me to know and you to find out."
Hiccup chuckles some and looks past her to see the other drunk man barely breathing. He says, "Unless you kill your prey with your bare hands or ripping his throat out. You will never kill your prey." Astrid looks back at the drunk asking, "So he will live?" Hiccup nods, "They will but won't remember what happened."
Astrid is relieved that she had not killed the man and takes a few deep calming breaths. Hiccup then looks up to see the sky beginning to lighten. He says, "Let's get back to the inn. The sun will be out soon." Astrid turns to him asking, "What is wrong with the sun? Does it kill us?" Hiccup answers, "No. The sun does not kill us, but it will weaken us. Stay out too long and you will become so weak that you won't be able to fight."
Hiccup leads Astrid back to the inn and when they get back, they see that the inn already has people inside. Snotlout and Heather are already busy at work. Hiccup says, "We will talk later." He goes behind the bar and Astrid goes to serve the patrons.
Two weeks later, Astrid's Room
Astrid is busy with making sure all of her stuff is packed and ready to go. And this time nothing will stop this trip of travel. Only now she will be traveling with others to a new home. She has made sure she spends time with Stormfly and learning the laws of Vampires. She still refuses Hiccup's advances still but is grateful to him for saving her life. She thinks back to the conversation she had with the trio the second night of her being a vampire.
Flashback, secret chamber
Once the last patron leaves Astrid cleans up and once she is done, she goes to Hiccup and says, "I am ready to have that talk." Hiccup nods then says, "Then let's go somewhere more private." Both Heather and Snotlout come forward and Hiccup pulls a hidden lever and the secret door opens.
Astrid is stunned as Hiccup leads her down. The others follow and the door closes behind them and soon they reach the man chamber. Astrid looks around and asks, "What is this place?" Hiccup answers, "This was home to the clan not too long ago." Astrid Looks and says, "A clan lived here?" Hiccup nods and Heather says, "The Hooligan Clan used to live here. Then they left to return to the home island." Snotlout comes forward and says, "Yeah. They left us behind."
Astrid looks at Snotlout and says, "So, they abandoned you?" Hiccup shakes his head no then says, "No. They didn't" Astrid looks at him confused so Hiccup continues, "We were ordered to leave but I refused because I did not want to leave you behind." Astrid is stunned by this news but keeps listening
Heather says, "Snotlout and I stayed because we are loyal to Hiccup. We won't leave him behind." Hiccup then says, "I would have been fine if you left with them." Snotlout answers, "Nope. We are together cuz. After all, you are next in line to be clan leader. We wanted to show loyalty to our future leader after all." Hiccup groans by this declaration but Astrid is stunned and turns to Hiccup saying, "You are an heir?" Hiccup nods his head.
Hiccup then says, "I am next in line to be clan leader. That means I pick my mate. Either she or he was human or vampire." Astrid takes a step back then coldly says, "Did you pick me because I was your first choice?" Hiccup answers in panic, "I fell for you the moment I saw you, Astrid." Astrid continues to glare at Hiccup coldly, "What I said before stands. I will never force myself on you."
Astrid looks at him and Heather says with honesty, "What he says is true. He never forces himself on anyone. When he turned you, he did so only when you asked him to save you." Astrid looks at Heather and softens her eyes a bit. However she is still weary of Hiccup's intentions at the moment.
Heather continues, "Hiccup has never taken a lover before like many of us did. Even though he has both male and female, humans and vampires throwing themselves at him." Snotlout chuckles and says, "Yeah. Many vampires are always looking to gain power in some way. Being mated to a leader or a future leader gives power. Hiccup never shares that he is an heir as he wants a mate who is honest."
Hiccup then says, "Thank you Snotlout. Please no more." Snotlout shrugs and Heather chuckles quietly. Hiccup turns back to Astrid and says, "I only turned you. So, by our laws you have to stick with me for about a year to learn our ways. After a year you may leave to go off on your own or officially join the clan. That is entirely your choice."
Astrid thinks for a moment but decides that she will need to learn how to live this new life so asks, "What are our laws?" Hiccup answers, "We can't reveal our existence as vampires to humans. That is the number one law. Second is you can't steal a mate from another unless defeated in combat." Astrid says, "Dagur he…" Hiccup shakes his head then says, "He payed for what he did to you. With his life. Another is you can't turn an unwilling person."
Heather answers Astrid's silent question, "Those who are unwilling turned become a danger to themselves and others of our kind. More often than not they are killed before they ever wake up." Astrid nods and Snotlout says, "Those are the laws all vampires follow but if you live in a clan you have to obey those rules too." Heather fills in, "Each clan has their own set of rules. And should you make your own clan you make the rules."
Astrid nods her head, and Hiccup takes a step closer to her and says, "As I had said earlier the last law is a newly turned vampire must remain with his or her creature for a lease a year." Astrid looks at him then at Heather and Snotlout for a moment then back at Hiccup and says, "I guess I am sticking around for a year. What now?"
Hiccup smiles then says, "We have leave town. The humans here are wondering why we don't age. The longer we stay the riskier it becomes for us." Astrid nods then asks, "When do we leave?" Hiccup answers, "I have someone who is coming to take over the bar for me. Until I can come back again. They will be here in two weeks. During that time we need to make sure that no evidence of us being here is gone."
Both Heather and Snotlout nod and Astrid says, "How will we find the clan?" Hiccup answers, "We fly. The island is well hidden; only vampires that have been there can find it." Astrid nods and asks, "How would we hunt if there are no humans?" Hiccup answers with a smile, "There are several villages of humans all around the place. We only take what we need. Any human who comes to us who knows what we are or criminals who are imprisoned for life are used to keep the hunger at bay."
Astrid nods and Heather says, "We should get back upstairs. Someone is coming." Both Heather and Snotlout leave, and Hiccup says, "Remember Astrid, I will never hurt you. Heather, Snotlout and myself will help you learn our ways. Then after if you wish to leave you may." Hiccup follows after the pair leaving Astrid alone. Once Astrid is out of ear shot and Heather says, "Are you sure you can keep your promise?" Hiccup answers, "She is alive that is enough. Even if it takes forever I will never take another mate." Heather nods then walks up after Astrid with Snotlout and Hiccup behind her.
End of flashback
Astrid finishes packing her stuff and heads downstairs to join her friends. When she opens the door, she stops to look around her room for a moment longer. After a moment she closes the door and places her room key on the bar counter where she meets Hiccup, Snotlout and Heather. Hiccup and the man are shaking hands and the man says, "Don't worry I will take good care of this place for you."
Hiccup nods his head and says, "Thank you my friend." The man leaves and looks around the place and Hiccup says, "Let's go everyone." They leave and go to the stables and begin to saddle their dragons. Astrid asks, "When will you return to the inn?" Hiccup answers, "Probably after a century or so. I want to make sure that no one knows who I am."
Astrid is stunned but then quickly understands his reasoning and so nods her head and pulls Stormfly out of her stall. A Monstrous Nightmare comes out with Snotlout already sitting on the dragon's neck. Heather also is on her dragon a Razer Wipe. Hiccup brings out his Night Fury and hops on his dragon's saddle. Astrid jumps on Stormfly's saddle and the moment she is on Hiccup urges his dragon forward. Hiccup then says, "Let's go gang. We have a long journey ahead of us."
Hiccup takes off first followed by his two friends however Astrid looks back at the town she had called home for the past year. After taking a moment to look at her home she leans over and pets Stormfly saying, "A new adventure girl. Let's see what the world brings us this time." Stormfly squawk as Astrid is sitting back in the saddle. Stormfly takes off happily after the other dragons. When Hiccup looks back to see Astrid looking happy and looking free.
Heather is laying back staring up at the sky while Snotlout is busy flexing. Hiccup rolls his eyes at his cousin and looks back ahead. They head west and Hiccup begins to follow the stars back home and back to the clan.
Auther's Notes: A new chapter done and this time I did it with almost no sleep. But still a little late. No matter I still have more for this new tale. I still hope you enjoy what you guys read.
