Fran's mishap!

Fran continues to sneak along the shelves, never taking her eyes off Eve and her mysterious crush. Out of the corner of her eye she sees them talking with a salesperson who is showing them several electric guitars. Fran frowns. Eve's crush was obviously a musician, possibly even plays in a band.

She can't suppress a slight sigh. She has nothing against musicians personally, not at all. But does she really want an aspiring rockstar to be the boyfriend of her daughter? They usually only carry problems with them. And on top of that Fran can already imagine how Maxwell would react to this news. He would certainly come around with a thousand concerns to raise. And then the next argument in the Sheffield household was practically set.

Fran continues to watch the scene with a slight sense of unease. One thing seems to calm her down, however. The strange boy seems to have a real interest in her daughter. He includes Eve in the conversation the whole time and asks her several times for her opinion. Fran concludes, he may have asked Eve to accompany him and advise him on buying a new guitar. This was actually a weird idea for a first date.

Or maybe that wasn't the first date at all. Fran increasingly gets the feeling that Eve and this boy have known each other for a long time. And again she feels a pain by the thought that her daughter obviously started to keep secrets from her.

She sees as the salesman hands Eve and the boy a guitar, picks one up himself and then leads the two into a smaller room at the back of the shop.

Fran, as inconspicuous as possible, follows behind them. But then the three disappear into the room and the doors are closed behind them.

"Damm it!" thinks Fran to herself. She is dying to find out what is going on in this room. But she has no chance. The door is firmly locked and there is no window. She squeezes herself along the wall trying to catch at least one word from the other room. Then it happens. Fran doesn't pay attention where she steps and before she knows it, she trips over a cable and crashes into a drum set that was standing in the corner.

In the other room, Eve jumps up. The salesman has brought her and Benji into this room so they can try out some electric guitars. He was just busy plugging one in when suddenly this crazy banging noise was heard from outside. The salesman immediately rushes out of the room to see what happened. Eve, who is standing near the door, peeks out curiously. Apparently someone had fallen into the huge drum set. Eve grins. How could anyone be so clumsy? And she laughs at the scene unfolding before her eyes.

Several staff members are busy collecting and setting up the instruments, while two others are trying to help a struggling person back on their feet. Eve cranes her neck to take a look at this unfortunate person, but at that very moment Benji calls her.

With the help of the two salespeople, Fran finally gets back on her feet. The floor is so slippery that she trips several times with her heels when she tries to stand up, and each time she threatens to fall again. When she finally stands on both feet again, she is completely out of breath. She quickly fixes her hair and adjusts the scarf around her head.

Then she starts complaining about how the instruments can be placed in the middle of the room. That is life-threatening. The salespeople all look at each other stunned. Some of them twitch their lips suspiciously, but no one says anything. Finally, one of them steps in front of her and in his most polite manner he apologizes and expresses his hope that she hasn't hurt herself. Fran now begins to notice, several people in and outside the shop are staring at her curiously, giggling and laughing the whole time. She suddenly feels terribly embarrassed about the whole incident and just prays that Eve hasn't noticed her.

Before anything else bad could happen, Fran decides it would be safer to leave the store. She hurries out as quickly as possible and thinks about what she should do now. Luckily, there's a coffee shop right across from the music store. Relieved, Fran goes inside and orders a large coffee and a chocolate muffin to calm her nerves. Then she sits down by the window and keeps an eye on the other store.
