My eyes fluttered open to the familiar sounds of chirping birds, and the morning light filtered through my bedroom window. I smiled to myself, just another perfect day in Magnolia.

I hopped out of bed to start my morning routine before heading to the guild to find Natsu and go on a job. I felt especially perky today, I wasn't sure why but I had a feeling it was going to be a nice and productive day… that was until I stepped foot in the guild to see my partner missing and barely any jobs on the board.

"Hi Mira! Do you know where Natsu and Happy are? And how come there's no jobs right now?" The barmaid smiled at me cheerfully, "Good morning Lucy! The S-class Mage Promotion Trials are coming up again so this morning everyone rushed in and took a job as fast as they could. Natsu and Happy were the first ones here and left about an hour ago."

My shoulder slumped after hearing this, I was able to go on quests by myself but they were never as fun without my teammates. "Okay thank you! I think I'm just going to head home and work on my novel then, see ya!"

"Bye Lucy!" I heard Mira call after me as I started the walk back to my apartment once again.

On my way I noticed a couple holding hands as they walked, the man whispered something in his girlfriend's ear and she giggled and kissed him in response. I sighed, whenever I saw a happy couple it was always a heavy reminder that I still have never had a boyfriend, and I couldn't see it happening any time soon. With how much traveling I did I knew I wouldn't be able to keep a stable relationship with someone in Magnolia. Also, none of the men in the guild piqued my interest in the least, except for a certain pink-haired partner that has clearly shown he had no interest in me.

I remember the day he asked to meet with him in the park, I was so full of hope and spent the day getting ready… Just for him to tell me he wanted to dig up the silly treasure that wasn't even real. And again after the war with Alvarez was over, I truly thought he was planning on confessing his feelings to me afterwards. It actually was one of the things that kept me strong during the battle, just for him to end up telling me it didn't matter and drag me on the 100 year quest. I knew he was never going to confess to me at this point, I just had to get used to the idea that we were meant to be just friends… even if it hurt me deep down.

As I started to unlock the front door of the house I had a feeling someone was watching me. My heart started to pound and I hovered my hand over my keys and started to look at my surroundings. I turned around to see a hooded figure facing me from the other side of the street. The person wore a black hood with a blue symbol I could not recognize on their chest, I could not see their face, but knew they were staring at me. Chills ran up my spine. Who is that? Why are they staring at me, and what could they want?

I decided I didn't want to be in my apartment alone with a creep like that lurking around so I quickly started making my way towards a busier street where I could summon a spirit to stay with me until Natsu returned. As I hastily walked up Strawberry Street I had a feeling the figure was following me, I turned around and sure enough they were, keeping a 15 foot gap between us.

My heart started to race faster, I have a terrible foreboding feeling right now, there is something not right about that person. I need to get away as fast as possible.

I finally entered a busy road full of people selling and trading various items at Magnolia's market. I bumped into a few people by accident in my haste, and ended up slamming into a hard chest. I looked up to see familiar spiky pink hair and almost burst into tears with relief.

"Natsu! Thank God! I thought you were on a mission, I think there is some creep following-" I was cut off as I took him in. It was definitely Natsu, but something was different about him. I studied his face, he looked… older? His muscles in his arms and chest seemed more defined under his jacket. He also had a new scar on his face that stretched from his forehead down to his cheek on his left side. When did he get that?! I know last time I saw him it wasn't there and there is no way during his mission today that he could've gotten a cut that bad and it magically heal that quickly, even with his accelerated healing.

"Lucy…" Natsu stared at me like he hadn't seen me in a couple years, he studied my face and his eyes looked like they were starting to water. Is he really about to cry? What the hell was going on today?!

Suddenly, he yanked me into his chest again and nuzzled his nose into my neck. I felt my face light on fire with his close proximity and affectionate action. "I've missed you so much Luce" I heard his voice crack as he squeezed me harder.

"Natsu? What's the matter? And what do you mean you miss me? I saw you yesterday at the guild hall…"

He laughed humorlessly, "yeah I guess for you it was only yesterday, huh?" What did he mean by that?

Suddenly it hit me again that the reason I ran into him was because I was being followed, my heart started to pound as I started to look for the creepy person throughout the crowd. I saw no sign of him but Natsu saw I was uneasy and asked what I was looking for. I explained what happened, his face at first seemed concerned, but then it looked like something clicked in his head and his features hardened.

"It's time to go Luce" he grabbed my hand tightly and started to lead me in the direction toward the train station.

"Where are we going?" I asked confused.

"We need to leave, it's not safe at your place and I can't be seen at the guildhall"

"What did you do this time?! Did you start another fight and destroy the place again?" I asked with a huff, he just continued dragging me to the station.

"No, nothing like that. I can tell you some details later but now is not the time. We are just going to head to an Inn in Dahlia and spend the night there."

"Dahlia?! That's a few hour train ride, it's almost on the other side of Fiore! Is there a job or something there? What's the reward for it?"

"There's no job, I just know no one from the guild will be there. Just trust me Luce, I'll explain everything when we get there." I sighed and nodded, deciding he must have his reasons, after all he normally would avoid a train ride at all cost but right now he was going with no issues. Something is definitely wrong…

A few hours later at the Tempus Itinerantur Inn in Dahlia

I flopped on the bed exhausted from the trip and heard Natsu shut the hotel room door after checking the hall once more to ensure we weren't followed. The entire trip to Dahlia he kept looking around for the hooded figure, but thankfully there was no sign of the person since I saw them in Magnolia.

"So are you going to explain to me what's going on and why your acting so strange now?"

Natsu sighed and was about to say his reply until he made eye contact with me laying on the bed. I watched him come towards the bed, his eyes looked golden, is that my imagination or are they glowing? He started to crawl on the bed towards me and my heart started to race as I took in the face he was giving me, it looked hungry? Suddenly he stopped moving towards me, his eyes dimmed back to their usual dark green and he scurried to the edge of the bed.

"Sorry about that, I didn't think I would have so much trouble controlling him when I would see you again."

"Him who? What are you talking about Natsu?"

"Oh nothing, it doesn't really matter" he then got up from the bed and went to grab something out of his bag, I thought he was going to talk to me once we got here but he's still not making sense and now he's trying to avoid answering me. He pulled out an apple and took a bite, as he stood there I noticed a red marking poking out the top of his jacket on his neck.

"What's that Natsu?" He followed my gaze and touched his skin tentatively where the marking was.

"This?" His face looked sad as he touched the spot, seeming to be deep in thought.

"Yes that, is it a tattoo or something?"

He chuckled a bit and shook his head before pulling his jacket off to reveal it fully. It was a red dragon marking with a scar that looked like a bite mark right where the heart of the dragon would be. I stood up and walked towards Natsu, feeling drawn to him suddenly for some reason.

"What is it then?" I asked, he looked uncomfortable like he couldn't decide how to answer my question. I reached my hand out hesitantly, Natsu almost looked like he was going to move away but didn't. My hand inched closer the scar on the dragon and touched it lightly. But when my finger made contact with the symbol, I felt a strong sensation rush through my body. It felt like waves of blistering heat coursed through me, along with an indescribable amount of pleasure. I also noticed the marking lit up and looked like it was on fire. I stumbled back a few steps in shock and made eye contact with Natsu, his eyes were once again glowing gold, this time I know it's not my imagination!

I heard a low growl emanate from Natsu's chest and felt my stomach tighten from the sound, it felt like the whole room was shaking. Natsu started to walk towards me with the look he had on his face before until his face was only a few inches from my own.

"Natsu?..." I didn't get a response though, all I heard was him growl "mine," I felt my heart pound as he descended his lips towards mine. But before they made contact, I felt my body kick into gear again, this is NOT how my first kiss is going to be! My leg kicked out and made contact with Natsu's shin, his eyes stopped glowing and his face turned to surprise and pain instead.

"Ow! Lucy what the heck was that for?!" He yelled as he gripped his leg in pain.

"For being a weird pervert! What has gotten into you? And you better answer me or I'm leaving and telling Erza what you just tried to do!" His face looked terrified all of the sudden as he put his hands up in surrender.

"Alright I am sorry, I know this must be very confusing for you… I'll tell you everything." I nodded as I once again sat on the bed and he took a seat next to me.

"Okay then, talk." I said as I crossed my arms "maybe start by explaining why you look so different and are acting like you haven't seen me in years."

"Okay well this is going to be really hard to explain, but I guess the best place to start is by telling you…" he scratched the back of his head and bit his lip in thought before making eye contact with me again with a serious look on his face, "I'm from the future."

I promise even if this chapter was a little slow it will get much better, I just needed to introduce the story a bit. Anyway, happy reading!-Bookgeek102
