He stopped where he stood.
His instincts were telling him something was off, very off, and so he grounded himself and calmed his mind and began to assess the situation. He closed his eyes and reopened them.
He threw his head back barely dodging an arrow that was just out of view from his hawk like eyes.
He removed his backpack in less than a second and jumped forwards another arrow impacted where he had just been standing, he turned to look into the direction that the arrows had been coming from, pouring magical energy into his eyes to reinforce them he looked at the direction where the hostile fire was coming from.
A massive black bow as long as he was tall appeared in his right hand as he caught an arrow that was going for his right eye with his left.
Flipping the arrow around he fired back at the pink colored figure he could see. The air shifting loudly from the power of the shot, the enemy archer hurriedly ducked.
Emiya was about to conjure more arrows, until a shift in the corner of his eye appeared to him. He stopped a sword from slashing his neck open with his bow.
He turned his eyes to the figure that had attacked him, he looked at her sword and then a whirlwind of information assailed him, its name was Murasame, and according to what he found even a single cut could kill. The blade had a ugly history not to mention that it was cursed.
He would have to be careful. One mistake could spell his end.
He chambered his leg and sent it flying out with an explosive side kick as he looked at the black haired red eyed girl who gazed back at him with cold unfeeling eyes.
She just barely managed to track his leg and jump back.
All of that happened in just over the blink of an eye.
He dismissed his bow judging that it would be too inconvenient to use it in this type of encounter if a single cut could kill than he couldn't afford to try and withhold information, well at least too much information, letting them know he can trace swords, in other words make weapons appear out of nowhere is a given, though that he can make them appear out of nowhere? Yeah not happening, the best he can give his current foes is kanshou and bakuya. The married blades would be more than enough to win.
And so with nary a thought he brought them out and faced her, she was staying away from him, a sound strategy all things considered, he was an unknown who could use a bow that appears out of nowhere and swords which do the same, knowing the people of this timeline she is probably trying to find out what teigu he has.
And so they stood there neither willing to move or to speak, just silently observing one and the other, that was until he heard the slightest crack of a stick behind him.
He turned his head to see what could have caused it only to be forced to move forward and send a kick at the offending party while they were still falling. They had lion-esque features with ears and a tail resembling the animal. He hadn't heard of any inhabitants in this world being an animal-esque species which could only mean one thing, a teigu. More specifically Lionel, it was a belt type teigu capable of giving the wielder enhanced physical parameters.
He could work with that.
The kick connected with the would-be assailant knocking them away, he spared them nary a glance before quickly turning around and deflecting a strike meant for his neck to over his head. He used their current positioning to get closer and send a kick at her exposed leg, she noticed and backpedaled away, he went to continue to apply the pressure before being forced to dodge a spear strike that moved with a speed that spoke of finesse and experience.
He looked at his newest attacker and gazed upon a man in full plate mail, that was around his own size, he looked at the spear and realized the user's identity, first of all it was a teigu, Incursio was its name, its wielder was a man that went by the moniker '100 man-slayer Bulat' the only reason why he even knew of the man however was because his sister mentioned him once out of the blue for no reason.
And after finding out the identity of his newest attacker he couldn't help but tense slightly, if the other two were assassins that prioritized finesse over pure brute strength, then this giant of a man wasn't an exact opposite, no he was a mix, he had finesse but he could use strength, it helped that he had faced his old commander before.
They stood opposed to each other, his own attention neither shifting from between Bulat and the wielder of Murasame. He went to engage Bulat but was forced to jump away when he noticed that those same green wires had snaked themselves underneath him and were poised and ready to skewer him from underneath. But right when he did that more came to attack him from behind as both Bulat and the red eyed girl both exploded forward in a pincer attack.
As it stood he was in between a rock and a hard place, his only option was to trace a sword behind him, bring his feet to bear and jump on it to escape by going up high, though that woud require him to change the angle of his motion and kill all of it before jumping up, there would also be the enemy archer... though... that was the best option to get away from their pincer attack. Though right when he was about to do it he noticed somebody else coming from the sky, they had purple hair and were wielding scissors that seemed to cut reality apart. There was no doupt about it, that was a teigu, and thanks to a technicality in its classification he could find out its name, Extasse.
He quickened his thoughts to try and make sense of the situation, his current foes were all using teigu, and he had recognized one of them, if he remembered correctly the wielder of Murasame's name was Akame.
Which could only mean one thing, he had somehow stumbled upon Night Raids base of operations.
He stopped that train of thought.
There wasn't enough time to be contemplating that when he was faced with a situation that all but demanded his full attention, he still turned around and faced the green wires, he was sure that they could be cut, the mere fact that they could be snapped all but proved that, and so he had nothing but options on how to deal with this situation, he could try to cut them all down while flying at them? No too risky, he had to be careful, he wasn't sure how they would move if the user saw that he was trying to cut them down which left only two options.
An arrow, not just any arrow though, either a mistic code pushed to the limit or a noble phantasm. He could also use a noble phantasm that specializes in cutting threads, whether it be fate, a weavers threads or something else it didn't matter, no it would never matter, teigu may be powerful but mystery was absolute.
The weapon he was planning to use had many forms the one he had heard the most tales of being that it could go back in time to insure that the wielder could strike first, if placed at somebody's throat they would freeze and tell the truth granting it the name answerer, it was a divine construct but one that he had face many a times in many timelines.
The gods had once decreed it could only be wielded by one who was above the stone of destiny.
And when the wave struck a cliff face, roaring, it would whisper in kind.
It was said to be able to slice through any wall and shield.
It had many titles and in the era he was born within anybody who wasn't apart of a specific clan could only use one of its abilities, luckily for him tracing always defied the natural rules of reality.
It's name was...
"Fragarach!"
He swung the ball which quickly became a sword and cut through the veritable wall of threads granting him safe passage.
He quickly dismissed the divine construct, as he proceeded to trace Carnwerran, the shadow treading dagger of King Arthur, after doing that he let himself have a bit of a rest.
His body was burning after tracing the answerer, he was never a designated wielder and his qualifications as a wielder were loose at best and that was only because of his reality marble. And so when he used the thing his body started to kill him, he knew that he could have used any other noble phantasm, but the sword of Manannan was the first that came to his mind. And so his body was now facing the consequences of his actions, that being unbearable pain as he pushed his body to the limit, his circuits had become temporarily golden when he had traced it for all of one second before becoming a very bright green.
And because of that he told himself that he could at least rest for a minute.
...
...
No he couldn't, he had to somehow get them to get off his back, knowing his luck they were probably searching for him, which only left one single option as a solution, he had to infiltrate their base.
He had infiltrated multiple fortresses before during his life and his almost endless deployments though those were done with a semblance of information on their layout, defense, and structure.
He had none of those.
All he had was a dagger that cloaked him in shadows and that wouldn't miss once thrown...
He'd accomplished harder.
In other words this was another day at the office for him, it also helped that it was night time, the sun had fallen and darkness cloaked the forest, more than already at the very least.
Combine all of that together and you get why he was so confident in his ability to infultrate Night Raids base. And if he was forced to fight them again inside of said base he should have an easier time, if only because their capability for sneak attacks would be severely diminished and so he started on his way to the base, his mission clear, force them to grant him safe passage.
Najenda was having a bad day, one might say.
She was woken up by the information that Esdeath had finished her campaign a couple days earlier, because she decided to rush through all of the more time consuming parts of the battle up in the north and just freeze the battlefield. Why she didn't do that before she didn't know, maybe so she can prolong her almost sadistic enjoyment of the suffering of the rebellion?
Whatever the reason it didn't affect her what did was that she was returning to the capital early.
And right when she was planing to infultrate the place herself to get a contract that pertained a high priority target and would have allowed her to see one of her friends after so long, it seemed like luck wasn't on her side anymore, she had barely been able to escape that day unharmed, physically at least... some things just... couldn't heal.
She took a deep drag of her cigarette in an attempt to stop herself from reminiscing.
The past was the past after all.
Though you want to know what also contributed to her not having a good day? The fact that the forest in which night raid's primary base of operations was set up in was apparently found!
The worst part about it all was that when mine went to assassinate the person who tripped the alarm, they dodged. And then they caught and shot another arrow right back at the pink haired archer. When she first heard that that had happened she was suprised, flabbergasted and stunned, she had only known one person who could do something even remotely similar and they were dead, they had to be.
Well after Mine had failed to kill the intruder the rest of night raid got involved and the person somehow still survived a pincer attack that attacked all possible directions while they were in the air. They had attacked the intruder from all directions when he was in the air and he somehow still managed to survive? But also escape? She was at a loss for words when she had heard all of what they said to the point where she considered getting involved just so she could be done with this infiltrator business, but they hadn't found him again, and he hadn't went to get his back pack again, it was almost as if he just became one with the shadows and disappeared.
"Did he say anything when he conjured those weapons of his?" She had asked Akame who was the closest to him when he first started to somehow make object capable of surviving a direct strike from a teigu and then make a weapon with powers that seemed close to a teigu.
Akame only shook her head before looking down in contemplation and saud something, "He did seem to mutter something,"
"Ok so he muttered something before making those constructs and what about that sword that cut through your wires, Lubbock?" She asked a young man with green hair.
"He seemed to call out a name?"
"What sort of name?"
"Fragarach, I think he called it, sound ethereal don't ya think?" He said with a carefree smile on his face as he tried to lighten the mood, though all he got was a withering glare from some of the members who had been more heavily injured, though in truth there had only been one person who was actually injured by the skirmish.
"Fragarach?"
"Yeah, Fragarach, you heard of it boss?"
Najenda didn't respond instead she looked down at the table, "Did he use something else albeit, temporarily?"
This time it was Bulat who spoke up, "He did wield two short swords with a ying yang design, he also seemed to look upon me with some sort of recognition, and not what one would have for a criminal, but for a man they were sorry for. It was odd, very, very odd."
She put her index finger to her mouth as she pondered her current situation. It wasn't until she removed her finger from her mouth that she noticed the state of her allies, "What's wrong with you guー"
She stopped when she noticed a knife was pressed along her throat, 'W-who!?'
"Listen up and listen well," A voice she hadn't heard in a long, long time resonated throughout the hall, her eyes widened, emotions she had hidden deep within herself started to appear once more, "You won't interfere with my business here or I will kill your boss, understood?" She looked at the members of Night Raid and noticed their reactions. Bulat was trying to keep his cool, Lubbock was outright furious yet he couldn't do anything so long as she was in her current position, Mine's eyes were wide, Akame's and Sheele's were sharpened and Leone was outright snarling.
As for her... "Little bro?" Her eyes were wide.
Authors notes
Hello everybody this is a first for a chapter for me, I think? If you're wondering what I mean by a first I mean that well... most of the chapter is combat focused and well... no I have done this already well not to my current writing level, I swear to god I sometimes just feel dissapointed in my past self when it comes to what I've written and my ideas.
Either way I hope you all like what this chapter has to offer, oh yeah and this is when you guys first see one of the fanfiction's I was inspired by when I started to make this and well technically there is two of the them, though they are technically the same fic, because the first one which had this was discontinued and the second one was the adopted story.
If you're wondering why I even chose fragarach, well... I tried to find a legend of somebody who managed to cut through a bunch of threads whether it be fate or anything, so I'm searching right and I find a reddit thread on somebody asking what heroes are depicted as being able to cut through fate, and one of them was about a Welsh hero who became a eagle to escape the only way he could die, in which he has to have a bucket on his foot and there has to be motley of things that have to be checked off before he can die, and he is apparently the welsh version of one of the wielders of Fragarach, and then I see that it can apparently cut through any wall and shield and if you are wondering if he will ever use it again, no, absolutely not, the only other time he will use a divine construct, well... I can't tell you guys.
Sorry.
User reviews.
Archangel Xireon Chaos God: Yeah nothing could go wrong! (he just has to suffer through a family reunion.) ;)
The eschaton: I could say so much… but I'm just going to ignore you and you're brain dead comment.
Guest (Jay): Thanks I hope you enjoyed this chapter.
arisu freedomstrikes: You know... I have seen your messges everywhere with new crossover fanfictions and some that stay in the canon verse, I was wondering when you'd come for me because from what I have seen you are nothing but a scam and I will not respond to you, actually, I'm going to ask the people who read this if I should delete your review
And that is all thanks for reading.
I hope you all enjoyed this chapter!!!
