Chapter 6
The Pencil
"Hah! That was easier than I thought! Oh, who am I kidding? I did not expect a challenge in the first place anyways!" Mathew ranted as he watched the cloud of smoke where Izzy's body lay.
"You killed her?! She was harmless!" Julia screamed, tears streaming down her face like waterfalls.
"Business is business" he stated simply.
"How do you expect that girl to take you back after you murdered her girlfriend?!" Julia yelled.
"Oh, shut it will you? Be lucky I have to take you back alive" Mathew said.
"I'd rather be dead!" Julia said.
"Careful what you wish for, if you annoy me enough, I will-" Mathew began until he heard something.
He noticed two of his specters had vanished. That is when he noticed a green glow amidst the smoke. As the smoke dispersed, a white shield-like object was there in its place, looking as if someone had drawn it, despite being 3 dimensional. Suddenly, it launched itself at Mathew, breaking on impact, causing him to stumble back and bleed from the arm he threw up to try to block the projectile.
"What the hell?!" he yelled, trying to understand where it even came from and who even created it.
The green glow was coming from something he could not see due to how bright the green light was. However, as the glow dimmed, he realized that the person was none other than Izzy.
"How?! I watched you die!" He spoke.
"You really should make sure someone is dead before you assume they are" Izzy said simply.
She was holding a green pencil, which was the thing emitting the green glow. Before Mathew could say anything else, Izzy began drawing lines in the air. This kept going for a while until she marked a dot within the lines. The lines turned from black to white and began to fill the gaps between them with a white casing-like thing. Mathew watched flabbergasted as the object she drew wrapped itself around her arm. Once it finished materializing, it turned out to be some arm cannon-like weapon. Mathew at once threw his arms up to block the incoming attack but to no avail. The blast that was shot from Izzy's arm cannon created a shockwave, pushing him back a good bit.
But Mathew would not give up so easily, he got back up and charged once more, but unfortunately for him, she drew up a shield to block his kick. Mathew broke the shield with a few punches only to be punched by Izzy, who had drawn up a pair of brass knuckles in the span of 10 seconds that it took him to break his shield. He looked at himself, noticing the multiple places in which he was bleeding, he knew he could not go on like this, and he did not know what the limits were for Izzy's abilities, if any. He knew he had no choice but to retreat, so retreat he did.
"Fine, you win!" He said defeated, conjuring a beam attack, and aiming it at the ground.
The smoke from the beam attack allowed him to disappear into the night, leaving Izzy and Julia alone in the docks. Izzy took this opportunity to pick up her parasol and unsheathe the blade hidden within, cutting Julia from the bonds Mathew had tied her up with.
"How did you do all that?!" she asked, perplexed by Izzy's abilities.
"Doesn't matter, are you ok? Are you hurt?" Izzy asked. Trying to steer the topic away from her powers.
"I am fine, but what about you? You are bleeding!" Julia exclaimed.
Izzy looked at her arms, and used the pencil to draw over her wounds, causing the same white layer casing-like object to wrap around her arms and heal her wounds. She then used the pencil to suck the brass knuckles and arm cannon she drew earlier back into the pencil.
"How does that even work?" Julia asked.
"I have a limit to how much I can use, but I get more everyday so I try to minimize use of it so that I have more if I ever get into a fight, plus I can suck up any previous intact creations and get half the lead back, it's a whole thing, don't ask and especially don't tell anyone!" Izzy said sternly.
"About that..." Julia said a little reluctantly, pointing past Izzy.
Izzy turned around only to see Ramona and Neo, who she could have sworn were not there before. She just assumed neo used her illusion abilities to hide them during the battle.
"God fucking damn it..." Izzy muttered.
Mathew Patel entered the league's HQ, not looking forward to Gideon's scolding for being beat by a 'weak' girl. He entered the main room, only to be met by Gideon and his two cousins. The male one, Andrew, generally an easy going person, also smoked a lot and said to be the more... sane of the two, and the female cousin, Ashley, who's insane ideas would earn her a ticket to a psych ward, an energetic and very mentally ill person, and not the autistic kind, mentally ill as in she should be locked in a solitary confinement cell.
"How, pray tell me, do you manage to lose to a weak and pathetic girl?!" Andrew said.
"The so called 'weak' girl, has powers, something you neglected to mention to me, and those powers are stronger than anyone in the league!" Mathew spat.
"Not possible, that hussy Julia said she doesn't have any powers" Ashley said.
"Either she lied, or this is a recent occurrence, because she had a fucking pencil that could draw shit to life!" Mathew yelled.
"Does she now?" Gideon said, intrigued.
"I had no chance, I summoned every specter I could, it wasn't enough, I had to flee" Mathew said.
"Change of plan, we're getting her alive, that so called power of hers will allow us to become unstoppable, if we can just harness it" Gideon said.
"Or we can just sacrifice her to a demon?" Ashley suggested.
"No Ashley, we're not doing that again" Andrew said.
"Andrew, go fetch Lucas Lee and Todd Ingram, will you?" Gideon requested.
Andrew nodded and left the room, Ashley following quickly behind him.
"Now Mathew, do tell me more of Isabella's abilities" Gideon said.
"You said you didn't have powers, and you said, and I quote, 'I can't fight for the life of me'" Ramona said, mimicking Izzy's voice and earlier tone.
The four of them returned to Izzy's house to treat the wounds Izzy and Julia suffered.
"Okay, so I lied, what's the big deal?" Izzy said nonchalantly.
"you've lied to us for god knows how long!" Julia said.
"I don't like talking about it" Izzy said.
"Why no-" Ramona began, only for Izzy to interject.
"I said I don't like nor want to talk about it, alright? End of story" Izzy dismissed with a slight tone of anger.
