"Good night, commander. It's nice seeing you in more relaxed clothing." Souryuu said while she wears the same clothes she wore earlier today. Is that her work clothing or is it casual? Can you wear your casual clothing to work here? I mean, some of them wear questionable outfits so that's my answer. "Shall we make our way?"
"Sure! Lead the way Souryuu." Souryuu nods at me with a gentle smile. She then guides us down deeper inward to the sakuran city. "What an amazing place you got here." I said in awe as I looked around. The alleyway that we are walking down has been decorated by hundreds of lamps while the buildings flare up their lights as bright as the stars in the sky. It feels magical and surreal to be walking under these lamps especially in this cold temperature and hearing the sound of distant music in the background.
"Glad you like it." Souryuu proudly said. She then turns left on a little dark road between two buildings but the important thing is what is on the end of this road. Whatever it is, it's bright and loud AF. Did they create a concert just for me? That's very excessive and definitely breaks the stereotype of the Sakura Empire. "Now commander, please enjoy yourself." …I was wrong. The end of the road wasn't a concert but rather stalls, a fair to be more precise. Stalls after stalls lined up next to each other and across to fill the edge of this pebbled road. Foods, drinks, games, toys, everything were here. One of the things that caught my attention is a little green catgirl selling something suspicious but more importantly, there are a shit ton of girls here. The warm and fuzzy atmosphere could be felt especially by how orange the lighting is and I could see a band of Manjuus playing the music that I heard earlier playing a cheerful song.
"Ah damn….. I didn't bring any coins with me." I said the moment I saw the girls exchanging some coins for the product on the stalls.

"How in the world?" I ask in confusion as I look at the gun. Atago only giggles at my reaction while the Manjuu who was manning the stall gives me another cork. "What did you do to this thing, chicken?" The manjuu scoffs at me before it returns to its position. "I am going to turn you into a kebab, buddy." I menacingly said as I aimed the gun at that stupid chicken.
"Ehehehehehe….. calm down, commander." Atago takes the gun from my hand. "Let big sister give you what you want." Eh? Sure…. I step back from the stall as Atago aims the gun. Didn't she see me earlier and how pointless it is to aim that shit or does she know a trick? Atago bent her body forward which emphasized her ass as she lowered her upper body to the level of her waist. Atago then handed it to me. The prize is a red demon mask that has some cool ass paint job and a devilish smile. "Ah….. thank you." I take the mask and place it on my head with the mask's face on the right side of my head. Look, call me a child all you want but I'll definitely get excited whenever I see something cool.

Eventually I forget about everything unrelated to the fair and dwell myself into the atmosphere. The sound of girls giggling and chatting happily among themselves becomes the background music as Atago shows me the beauty of the Sakura Empire. We play a game where you have to scoop a goldfish with a paper scoop that is impossible to do. We both eat shredded ice that froze your brain the moment you took a single bite. And I also bought Atago a mask as a payment for the one on my head… and weirdly enough I was using her money. Damn, I am just piling up my debt huh?
"Here…. It's only fair for me to give you one after earlier." I handed Atago a black demon mask. I can see her dog ears twitch as she takes the mask. "I know that I used your money to buy this but I promise you that I'll pay you later."
"Thank you darling and you don't need to, big sister's money has been spent well if it can make you smile." I am probably blushing right now and that darling would make me think that she is into me, if she hasn't been calling me that for the last hour or so, it's probably her default nickname for everyone. I also saw Aoba lurking around here and she probably already has this in her story. Hope she isn't like one of those reporters that would blow up the story just to get people's attention. "Nope!" I immediately jumped back. "Please don't joke around with such mature topics, Atago. I am afraid of bad rumors that might surface because someone heard that." I scanned around us again just to make sure that Aoba wasn't anywhere close. Shit! There are too many girls for me to properly see.
"I don't mind~~ As long as those rumors revolve around you loving me, then by all means." This woman is going to drag my name in the mud. And she is really undermining the power of people. As if a sign of condolence, Atago pulls me toward some snack and drink stalls. They were all delicious, especially the chocolate milk that I bought from Kashino's stall. I want to drink them again….. Maybe I could ask Kashino personally for those milks. Another thing that left an impression on me was Shoukaku's tempura. Yep, she and Zuikaku are one of the people that sell things around here and it's as good as I remember them. Atago then pulls me out of the fair and up a slight elevation in the ground. Weirdly, there is a strategically placed park bench on the edge of the high ground.
"How was it, darling?~~" Atago asked me as both of us sat down on that park bench which oversees most of the festival ground. There were no other stalls near us so at that point, we were alone with snacks and drinks that we bought earlier. This serenity and calmness cause my attention to divert from Atago to the scene in front of me. …It is a beautiful scene. If someone would tell my past self that I would lead something this beautiful in the middle of the war, I would probably laugh and accept it as a joke. "Did you enjoy it?"
"Yeah….. I enjoy it so much." I answered her earnestly. It's not like I didn't have little moments of peace and quiet while I was in the army, it's just so distant and has multiple horrible battles between them that I can't really register it as beautiful. Some of my soldiers would fall and die which would sour the situation even more. "Thanks for this, Atago." I turned my head toward her and saw that she was getting closer and closer. "Ah…." Souryuu's glasses flash for a bit from the festival's light as she fixes its position. "Her sister came to… pick her up just now. I believe Takao was saying that there is… an urgent thing that they need to attend to." What with the long pauses? That's very unlike her. Could she be hiding something? Is this urgent thing a sakuran secret that I, an outsider, shouldn't know? Should I ask or nah? Probably best to Nah it this time.
"…..defenseless." Who? Who is Sheffield talking to? Or rather, who is she talking about? Hm? Souryuu said that they have been meeting which also means that they haven't been enjoying the fair which is why I thrust the snacks and drinks toward them. "…..second hand, huh?" Sorry okay….. it was supposed to be Atago's but she suddenly vanished and it's not like I can eat it all by myself.

Yeah… those are still newly cooked so it's hot. Souryuu's mouth excretes white smoke as she keeps blowing that particular piece of takoyaki. She looks hella cute being clumsy like that.
"Of course I am." I unconsciously moved the hair that covers her face and tucked it behind Souryuu's ear. Souryuu looks at me weirdly as her eyebrows rise up and she smiles cheekily. "Uh…. I was just helping you! I thought that your hair would get in your way!" Shit! My hand just moved on its own!
"Thank you for that, commander." Souryuu shifted her body closer to mine. "I guess you are a caring commander after all~~ ehe~~" What with the cute 'ehe'?! I was standing in front of a large wooden building that has some banners with a symbol of a bowl with steams rising out of it. The three of us entered the building and were immediately greeted by a changing room. The changing room was filled with shelves after shelves that have straw baskets inside of them. These manjuus march toward the pool and carefully put the buckets on the water line. The buckets float and the other manjuus that have been following Sheffield, move the buckets toward us. Souryuu starts telling me a long story with me listening intimately. So basically Akagi was desperate to summon someone named Amagi….. which sounds like Akagi but with a 'M' instead. Her desperation leads to her becoming the siren's lab rat because they promise her that the sirens would bring this Amagi back to life. They did but….the Amagi that they brought back to life isn't THE Amagi that Akagi wanted but instead just another mass-produced ship with Amagi's skin. Which also confirms to me that the sirens have the ability to change their appearance. Back to the story, Akagi who finds this out was beyond furious and tried to take on the entire siren with Kaga. This is where Stella, Enty, Belfast, Prinz Eugen, San Diego, Helena, Hood, Cleveland, Nagato, Misaka, Ark Royal, Elizabeth, Warspite, Shoukaku, Zuikaku, Graf Zeppelin, Peter Strasser and Prinz Heinrich come in and take Akagi and Kaga out of the siren base. There are a shit ton of names that I have never met before or even heard.
"You can see where her hatred toward the siren stems from, especially after being used as a test subject multiple times." I wonder what kind of experiments the sirens did to both of them and that story still didn't explain about Kaga though… Why did she agree to be the siren's subject?
