It was a normal evening in Alexandria until, a familiar knock at the gate could be heard.
"What was that?" Mike muttered as he walked towards in the gate.
"Hello there people of Alexandria!" This made Mike stop in his tracks, it was Negan.
"You're all fucked, you got three minutes to surrender. I'll only kill those with a lame excuse." Negan said through a microphone.
"What was that?" Carl asked panicked as he came down to the gate.
"Get your sister and everyone else out of here." Mike said.
"What, why?" Carl asked.
"Negan is here and we got two minutes until we're all dead." Mike said.
"Oh shit." Carl said.
"Times up." Negan said and the gates were destroyed.
"Are those?" Carl wanted to say but he was cut off by many explosions.
"Run! Run motherfucker!" Mike yelled.
They ran down the streets, warning people and helping them fleeing and finally stopping at their houses.
"Lydia!" Mike yelled and kicked in the door of his burning house.
She was lying there, he didn't know if she was dead or passed out or injured or all three.
"Fuck!" Mike said and picked her up.
He ran, dodging gunfire. He saw how his home, his hope burned to the ground. They didn't expect grenade launchers and the unexpected always kills you. Just like a few months ago.
"That's him! Negan said he wants the eight finger guy alive!" A Savior shouted and shot at his legs, but missed.
"Go fuck yourself!" Mike yelled and shot the Savior in the gut.
"Mike! Over here!" Carl shouted.
"The fucking sewers?" Mike asked and sneaked towards him.
"Yeah." Carl said.
"Help me with her." Mike said.
They climbed down into the sewers and close the manhole cover.
"Is she?" Carl asked worried.
"No, she got a beating heart. I just hope she didn't got hurt or has inner bleedings." Mike answered.
"Siddiq, can you check her or something?" Carl asked.
"No, I don't got anything to help her. We just gotta wait and hope." Siddiq said.
"Scheiße..." Mike muttered.
"You good?" Carl asked.
"No, I don't know if my girlfriend or my child is alive." Mike said worried.
"Wait a minute, your child?" Carl asked.
"Yeah, I'm gonna be a father, and you're gonna be a uncle." Mike said happily.
"That's great! Finally." Carl cheered.
"Finally? Were you all taking bets when I'll knock her up? Should I do the same with you and Enid?" Mike asked.
"No, but I can barely sleep at night, you're goddamn loud." Carl said.
"See it as revenge." Mike said.
"Revenge for what?" Carl asked.
"You two were loud too." Mike said.
"Point taken, she still sleeping?" Carl asked.
"I wouldn't say sleeping, it's more like unconscious." Mike said.
"What should we do now?" Carl asked while resting his head in his hands.
"Hilltop, but first we'll wait for Rick and the others." Mike said.
"You think they'll stay here?" Carl asked.
"No, they wouldn't have destroyed it if they'd want to stay here." Mike explained.
"How come that you know so much about strategy?" Carl asked.
"I love history, especially a book about it, and I love strategy games." Mike answered.
"What book is it?" Carl asked.
"It was called "Saisei no jidai" and it's sequel, "Henka no jidai" they are great books but they were written 350 years ago by two Shōguns of japan. The first was written in 1634 and the sequel in 1876." Mike explained.
"Very interresting." Carl said.
"I'll get some shuteye, wake me up when shit hits the fan." Mike said and closed his eye.
"Will do." Carl said.
Later
"Mike..Mike, wake up." He heard a voice.
"Wha...I'm awake, I'm awake." Mike said and opened his eye.
"Where's Lydia?" Mike asked panicked.
"Here." He heard a female voice.
"Oh thank fucking god!" Mike said and hugged her.
"Don't worry, I'm ok. The explosions got to me but I wasn't hurt." Lydia said.
"I'm sorry to interrupt, but we need to get to Hilltop now." Rick said.
They left the sewers and everyone got on the trucks and in the cars to go to Hilltop, looking back at their former home.
"I will kill Negan for this." Carl said.
"Yeah, me too." Rick said.
"How did you two even got the idea with the sewers?" Michonne asked.
"I didn't, that was Carl." Mike said.
"Yeah, I just thought nobody would look there." Carl explained.
"I don't they're done yet." Rick said.
"Yeah I think so too." Michonne said.
"So, you've become a father?" Rick asked Mike.
"Yep, I am a father now." Mike said with a smile on his face.
"Congrats." Michonne said.
"Yeah, it's early but it gives me a bigger reason to fight for." Mike said.
"That's the spirit." Carl said.
"So, excited to see Enid again?" Mike asked.
"Yeah." Carl answered.
"But please be a bit quieter." Rick said.
"Uh-huh." Carl said and everyone started laughing.
"When are we there?" Mike asked.
"About four hours left." Rick said.
"Fuck." Mike muttered and leaned back into his seat.
"I know, but we'll build Alexandria again after the war." Rick said.
"If there's anything left to rebuild." Mike said.
"What do you mean?" Carl asked.
"For Negan, this war isn't about reaffirming his control over us, it's about our annihilation." Mike answered.
"You're right, but he's gotten arrogant." Rick said.
"You were too at first, that's how we got into this mess." Mike said.
"I know, I regret it everyday." Rick said.
"It's not your fault, we didn't know that they were so many." Mike said.
"I know but, I blame myself everyday for the things that happened." Rick said.
"Come on boys, get some sleep. We'll tell you when we're there." Michonne said.
"Good idea." Carl said.
"Yeah, I'm goddamn tired." Mike said and closed his eye.
Hilltop
"Hey, you two, wake up." Rick said.
"What? Yeah, yeah. I'm awake." Carl said.
"We there?" Mike asked.
"Yeah, let's go to Maggie." Rick said.
They all went out of the car. Carl had a nice reunion with Enid and the rest with Maggie and others.
"Lydia, they got a doctor here, you mind if you get a checkup?" Mike asked.
"No, to be honest, I don't feel so good." Lydia said.
"Alright, I'll get you to Dr. Carson." Mike said and went towards the medical trailer.
"Hello, how can I help you two?" Dr. Carson asked.
"My girlfriend, Lydia. She got knocked out by an explosion and we don't know if she's hurt." Mike explained.
"Alright, then we'll start. Should I know anything else?" Dr. Carson asked.
"Yeah, I'm pregnant." Lydia said.
"Oh, congrats. Then I'll do a checkup for both injuries and baby." Dr. Carson said.
"Thanks, doc." Mike said.
"No problem, then let's start." Dr. Carson said.
After an hour the doctor was done with the checkup.
"Alright, there are no serious injuries and the fetus is also well, but I can't tell anything right now." Dr. Carson said.
"Thanks." Lydia said.
"Even if there is still no baby, I'd say that you two don't have sex for the next five months and that you stay here at Hilltop for the remaining war." Dr. Carson explained.
"Alright, I think we can do that." Lydia said.
"Yeah, should we go?" Mike asked.
"Yeah, thank you doctor." Lydia said.
"After you." Mike said and opened the door for her.
"Thanks." Lydia said.
"What now?" Mike asked as both walked towards Barrington house.
"Sleep? I'm really tired after this whole siege thing." Lydia said.
"Great idea." Mike said.
