War Among Worlds 1x06: The Code of Honor
The next morning in The Monkey Kingdom Sprig, Ivy and Polly all wake up inside Nakia's house in her room and don't see her and get concerned.
Sprig: Guys have you seen Nakia, she is not in the room.
Ivy: No, I mean she was in the room when she went to sleep last night right?
Polly: Why does this suddenly feel like a trap?
Sprig: Come on Polly we don't know that Nakia seemed to care about us.
Polly: Yes, but she clearly has some major problems with her parents.
Sprig: Yes, but her parents offered us a place to stay for the night that has to count for something right.
Polly: If you have noticed lately Sprig things haven't been working out great for us in just a couple of days we were nearly killed in the Forgotten Zone and when we finally thought we would have answers here Calvan planned to execute our friends.
Sprig: This isn't the first problem we have encountered in our life, and we will get through this just like all the other times.
Ivy: Sprig is right about this Polly, and we will figure out a way to rescue Amity, Alador and Darius.
(Suddenly the door opens, and the group gets worried until they see Nakia come into her room again.)
Nakia: Sorry to leave you guys like that?
Polly: Where did you go?
Nakia: I feel like it's always good to get an early start on the day and I did some jogging and had an early breakfast as well. I didn't cause any problems, did I?
Sprig: Well, we haven't been having a lot of great luck here recently, so we can never be to careful here plus you don't seem to agree with your parents all that much.
Nakia: I know you guys have all been through a lot but believe me, I do genuinely want to help you guys save your friends but it's not going to be easy.
Ivy: What's in it for you?
Nakia: Look I could have easily left you guys by yourself to wander the streets at night but, I truly believe there is a lot going on here in the Hidden Jungle that we don't understand. I joined the Great Monkey Battalion to fight for the people of this kingdom and protect the people I love, but how can I do that when I don't even know what is true my parents say everything is fine, but I know something is missing I just don't know what it is.
Sprig: So, what's the plan then?
Nakia: Well, the first thing we are going to do is have some breakfast, we can't meet the Great Monkey Council on an empty stomach.
Sprig: Where do we even start with and are all the Great Monkey Council members even in the Monkey Kingdom right now.
Nakia: See that's the thing Calvan didn't really tell you Federieco is the only one from the Great Monkey Council that is still here.
Polly: So, where did everyone else go and why was he lying to us.
Nakia: Because he doesn't want the rest of the Monkey Kingdom to know that the council has disappeared, that's why the Great Monkey Battalion has not only been protecting us from the Forgotten Zone and the Lion's Den but also looking for the Great Monkey Council.
Ivy: Does Federieco know where they are?
Nakia: Calvan has been known to get in great fights with his uncle about the Great Monkey Council.
Polly: So, his uncle is Federieco?
Nakia: Yes.
Sprig: Does Federieco know where the rest of the Great Monkey Council ended up.
Nakia: He has always seen that day as his greatest failure he tried for years to find them until Calvan told him that he should stop living in the past and focus on protecting the Monkey Kingdom from our enemies.
Ivy: And how exactly do you know all of this.
Nakia: Believe it or not I am one of Calvan's closest friends and have talked with his uncle several times.
Polly: Then if you guys are such great friends, don't you stop him from executing our friends.
Nakia: His family has been through a lot.
Ivy: And that's a reason to execute someone come on you guys don't even though who the real enemy is here. I mean you refused help basically when the Monkey Kingdom got invaded and now you just go out and hunt down Humans and Lions for fun.
Nakia: It's not that simple the Lions and Humans didn't want to help us out.
Sprig: So, then what do you suggest we do Nakia, you can't honestly expect us to be okay with our friends getting executed there has to be a way to fix all of this messed up history that is going on here.
Nakia: Look I can't assure you that this will work for sure, but if you talk to Federieco that could be a good start to helping your friends out.
Polly: I'm confused though the king doesn't hate his uncle.
Nakia: Yes, but you must start somewhere right.
Sprig: Yes, you are right, and you are going to help us.
Nakia: I'm sorry what now.
Sprig: You were just talking about how you wanted to help us and besides you said that you know Federieco so he would be willing to listen to you more than he would be willing to listen to us.
Ivy: What are you planning sweetie?
Sprig: We are going to save Amity, Alador, and Darius.
Ivy: But how are we supposed to do that without the rest of the members of the Monkey Council?
Sprig: Because we are going to figure out what happened to the Hidden Jungle because Nakia and Federieco are going to come with us to both the Forgotten Zone and The Lion's Den.
Polly: That sounds like a terrible idea I don't think I need to remind you, but we nearly got killed last time we were in the Forgotten Zone I mean we were barely lucky to get out alive we all remember how upset Nalani was at us.
Sprig: Yes that is true, but Chelsea and Nico still like us and besides the only way we figure out what's going on here in the Hidden Jungle is by talking to each other.
Nakia: That is a bold and risky move. I mean I have never been to the Forgotten Zone or the Lion's den, but if this is going to help your friends, I am willing to give it a shot.
Sprig: Now that's what I like to hear I knew there was a way we could turn things around.
Nakia: Now come on you guys, I have breakfast.
Polly: Oh, good I am starving
Ivy: Actually, you guys go I need to talk to Sprig for a moment.
(Nakia and Polly leave Nakia's room and Ivy walks over to Sprig.)
Sprig: You think this is an insane plan don't you.
Ivy: I didn't say that.
Sprig: You didn't have to I have known you for years Ivy just be honest with me.
Ivy: I know you want to help them, but I feel like we are way over our heard the history of is place is so complicated that people don't even know why they hate each other.
Sprig: Which is exactly why we can't leave who knows what will become of this place if we don't help besides Anne never stopped fighting for Wortwood, so we can't stop fighting for them.
Ivy: You really can be stubborn can't you, but you also have the best heart out of everyone I know and that is one of the many things I love about you and if this is the way that helps Amity, Alador, and Darius avoid executions then I'm all in.
Sprig: You sure?
Ivy: I mean we already stopped a war between Wolves and Hyenas together which only proves that when we are together there is nothing that we can't accomplish.
Sprig: I love you so much.
Ivy: I love you too.
(Sprig and Ivy kiss and then leave Nakia's room to join Nakia and Polly for Breakfast.)
(Back in the Boiling Isles at the Blight Manor Luz runs down the stairs realizing that she iws late until she sees her mom and Vee eating breakfast with Edric and Emira.)
Luz: Mom, what are you doing here?
Emira: She decided to stay with us while Alador and Darius are away just to make sure we are safe in our home.
Camilla: It's not that I don't think you kids can take care of yourself and it's a great thing that the Boiling Isles has been safe since Belos, but a little help here and there wouldn't be a bad thing plus Vee wanted to come and I just couldn't say no.
Luz: Mama, we are fine, I have everything under control.
Camilla: Are you sure Mija because it looks like you haven't slept in the last two days has Amity not messaged you yet?
Luz: I mean I am worried about that, but that's not what's troubling me.
Ed: Is it anything that we can help with?
Luz: I don't know at least not yet what I do know is there are two students at school that Eda doesn't trust, and I need to learn more about them.
Camilla: Why doesn't Eda trust them?
Luz: To be honest I don't know, but I feel like there is something more going on here that I don't know about. She also told me to be careful of who I trust, especially with the voice that me and Amity heard.
Camilla: Wait what voice are you talking about what did you and Amity hear?
Luz: It's nothing bad, just some voice that said a rebellion is failing, but I am going to be talking about this with King and The Collector soon.
Camilla: And you just think this voice is someone you can trust.
Luz: Not necessarily but they are somebody in need of help and that's what the heroes are supposed to do.
Camilla: Yes, but why does that hero have to be you?
Luz: Because I don't want to continue to see bad things happen to good people and those that are different from others. Now on one hand you are right we don't know if we can trust this voice heck I don't even know if I can trust Kimi and Auqkwell. Not only do I have to deal with all of that, but I am also concerned about where Amity ended up and if she is okay, I know it's only been two days, but for all I know she could be somewhere where 2 weeks have passed.
(As Luz starts to cry Camilla runs up to her and hugs her.)
Camilla: Oh, Luz I am so sorry you have been dealing with this, but you know what Amity is one of the strongest people I know and if she's in danger she will figure out a way to come back home to you.
Ed: Yeah, you know there is no distance that can keep the two of you apart.
Vee: So, what are you going to do Luz.
Luz: Right now, I have to get to school and learn more about Kimi and Auqkwell while Eda is at the library doing some more research on some Great Magic War that predates the Coven system that the Isles use to have.
Emira: So, do you believe what they tell you about this Great Magic War.
Luz: That is what Eda is looking into and as for Amity I can trust that she can get out of ant situation that she has found herself in because that's just how smart and tough she truly is.
(Luz leaves Blight Manor as Camilla, Vee, Ed, and Emira look at each other with concern about Luz. Meanwhile Eda arrives at the newly reconstructed Bonesborough Library that Lilith and Amity built together. The library is a lot bigger than it was in the past now being two stories high and a children's section with a fun slide and Spooky ghosts.)
Eda: Well I have to say you really outdid yourself this time sister.
Eda walks into the library and sees Lilith and goes up to talk to her.
Eda: I must admit I didn't think the library was going to look this cool when you were talking about rebuilding it with Amity.
Lilith: Yeah, we did a lot of good work on it and there is a whole section upstairs for kids to learn some of the good stories about the Boiling Isles while also being inspired to make this world a better place. There are also some fun adventure books up there too, but we are trying to stay away from Otabin because of what happened with Luz and Amity.
Eda: Wow that is good to hear looks like you are doing a lot of good work here.
Lilith: Not that I don't enjoy seeing you Edalyne, but what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be at the university with Luz?
Eda: That's what I wanted to talk about with you in a sense is there still a confiscated book section here?
Lilith: Yes, why do you ask?
Eda: Because there are these students at the university that I don't really trust.
Lilith: Why don't you trust them?
Eda: To be honest I can't tell yet, I just have a bad hunch about them, and I don't want them to trick Luz or something.
Lilith: So, then what is the real reason you came all the way out here for?
Eda: They talked about some Great Magic War that happened before Belos came to the Isles something that gave Belos the Idea to divide the magic into different covens.
Lilith: To be honest Edalyne there are very few books about the ancient history of the Boiling Isles that don't tie back to Belos considering all of the damage he did to us.
Eda: So, you're saying there was a real reason to create a coven system?
Lilith: I'm not saying that I'm just saying Belos got to learn about the Boiling Isles so I'm sure he learned stuff that we didn't.
Eda: Well it's not like we can just ask him he is kind of dead.
Lilith: There are a few books that I'm not supposed to know exist in the Forbidden Stacks, but please be careful searching for knowledge of the past can lead you down a dangerous path if you go to far.
Eda: Don't worry I will be safe.
(Eda hugs Lilith and then walks towards the Forbidden Stacks. Meanwhile in the Monkey Kingdom Sprig, Ivy, Polly, and Nakia arrive at Federieco's house which is a rustic solid silver and gold house that has seen better days, and the painting is starting to peel on the wall)
Nakia: Now remember I can't guarantee that he will help us at all.
Sprig: We know, but he is the best chance we have to save our friends.
Nakia: Okay no turning back now.
Nakia knocks on the door and Federieco opens it and hugs Nakia.
Federieco: Oh, Nakia it's so good to see you…and I see you brought the same frogs from yesterday's appointment from the King. You know how this is going to go.
Nakia: Just hear us out please and then if you don't like what we have to say we will leave.
Federieco: Fine, but only because you're here and yesterday was just an exhausting day with Calvan that took a lot out of me, so please come in.
The group goes into Federieco's home and looks around and Sprig and Polly see lots of paintings and pictures on the wall along with huge medals and medallions.
Sprig: So are you into any kind of sports?
Federieco: No, why do you ask?
Sprig: Just curious you seem to have a lot of them.
Federieco: Well before my days on The Monkey Council I was actually great at battle combat, especially during training sessions I was once part of the Great Monkey Battalion a long time ago back before the world became so divided.
Ivy: That's what we want to talk to you about.
Federieco: What are you talking about?
Nakia: Calvan captured their friends because their witches and we need your help finding the rest of the members of the Monkey Council.
Federieco: Nakia, you more than anyone should know that we can't talk about what happened that day there are just somethings that are left better unknown
Sprig: What is everyone afraid of if there is something that the king id doing that you disagree with you should stand up to him.
Federieco: It's not as simple as that my nephew doesn't even agree with me anymore not since that day.
Ivy: Since what day?
Federieco: Since the day the witches attacked.
Polly: Why did witches attack?
Federieco: Strangely enough it was never really clear why they attacked they just came out of nowhere and we had no time to prepare for a battle, so I called for help from the Lion's Den and The Forgotten Zone. However, by the time I got back the Monkey Kingdom was left in total shambles and I spent the following six years trying to find a way to find them, but I have not been lucky. So, yeah that's why we don't talk to the Lions and Humans because they weren't there for us.
Sprig: But Nakia told us that the Witches sabotaged all sides of the Hidden Jungle not just the Monkey Kingdom is that right?
Federieco: I mean I guess that would explain why they weren't there that day to help us, but why would they separate us like that what would they have to gain?
(Nakia walks towards Federieco and puts her huge gorilla hands on Federieco's shoulder and look at him.)
Nakia: Look I know we all hate witches here, but their friends need help and we both know helping people is what we are all about we can't turn our backs on someone who needs help.
Federieco: I have tried for years, but I couldn't save the council.
Nakia: What if you could what if somehow we find a way and we bring peace back to the Hidden Jungle while repairing the relationship we have with Humans and Lions.
Federieco: How do you know that we can do that?
Nakia: I don't, but if there is a chance you can save the council don't you want to take it.
Federieco: It's going to be hard to get into the Forgotten Zone especially if you aren't allowed there anymore
Sprig: Well it's not so much that were not allowed there it's just that we overheard some stuff that we shouldn't have and they didn't like that
Polly: What he means to say is that were basically seen as traitors to the Forgotten Zone.
Nakia: Then how the hell are we supposed to get back there?
Ivy: That is a good question.
Federieco: Not to mention the Lion's den is going to be hard to find.
Ivy: So, what does that leave us with?
Sprig: We go to the Forgotten Zone together.
Polly: I'm sorry did I hear you say that correctly you want us to go back into the Forgotten Zone?
Sprig: If we are going to solve this issues between Monkeys, Humans, and Frogs we need to work together and talk to each other. Plus Polly you were really the one that snuck into a conversation that you shouldn't have been involved in.
Polly: I mean we still are traitors.
Nakia: Correct me if I am wrong, but being a traitor can get people killed right.
Sprig: In our defense we wanted to learn more about you guys and were just trying to do ur best to survive?
Federieco: Is that how they are going to see it?
Polly: Probably not.
Sprig: However, we do have friends in the Forgotten Zone right Polly.
Polly: That's true me and Nico were starting to become friends before we left. Which means he could probably help us get in without being seen by Nalani.
Ivy: Chelsea would probably help us to, I mean it really isn't that hard of a place to get into.
Sprig: The only problem with that is last time we went into the Forgotten Zone we weren't traitors which makes things a little more challenging. We also don't exactly know how to get there.
Nakia: How do you not know how to get there you were just there?
Sprig: Yeah and it's not like we exactly left on great terms we were running as fast as we could, so Nalani wouldn't kill us and then we got captured shortly after leaving the Forgotten Zone by you and the Great Monkey Battalion.
Nakia: So, really you only know where the Monkey Kingdom is located?
Polly: Yeah, we still don't have a great idea of where everything is located in the Hidden Jungle besides the Monkey Kingdom.
Federieco: So, then how do we get ahold of your friends without Nalani tracking us.
Polly: I bet you they have a communication tower that we could send a message to Nico from.
Ivy: But how do we know for sure that it will be Nico that sees it and not Nalani or Varnick?
Nakia: Maybe we won't have to do that.
Sprig: Why is that?
Nakia: In some of the books about the Hidden Jungle it is said that there are hidden pathways throughout the Hidden Jungle that have helped to save people in times of great conflict and just overall secret tunnels to get in and out of places.
Sprig: Then why haven't you been using these to get to the Lion's Den or the Forgotten Zone and talk through your problems this entire time?
Federieco: Because nobody believes that story, we all think it's just a myth.
Polly: Has anybody ever actually tried to go and find one of these secret passageways?
Nakia: Well….no…but...
Sprig: This could be the one thing that helps us and nobody has ever looked into this before.
Federieco: Well, we have been focused on stopping the Monkey's and the Lions for years it's not like there would be a secret passageway in plain sight.
Sprig: Where do those books that you have read from say that a secret passageway would be if we were to look.
Nakia: Honestly, they could really be anywhere they were meant to be a last resort so who really knows.
Sprig: Then I guess that means we must start looking.
Nakia: But that could take forever.
Sprig: Your right and every minute we spend wasting taking about this and arguing Calvan is planning the execution of our friends does that seem fair to you?
Federieco: Okay then if there really are secret paggageways in the Monkey Kingdom you are going to need help besides maybe helping you guys will make up for me failing to find the Monkey Council.
Nakia: You never know this could bring us closer to finding them.
Sprig: Plus showing Monkeys working together with Lions and Humans will give Calvan hope for a better future and while I know that's only a start you can't tell me there is not hope in that now.
Federieco: Alright let's do this.
(Everyone leaves Federieco's house to go search for the secret passageway hidden within the Monkey Kingdom.)
(Back in the Boiling Isles at the University of Wild Magic Luz is in the cafeteria when she sees Kimi and Auqkwell and goes and walks over to them.)
Luz: Hey, guys how have your classes been going?
Kimi: Oh, things are going really great Luz.
Luz: So, look I was just wondering what made you guys decide to come to the Boiling Isles now you seem to know a lot of the history here that I didn't even know about.
Auqkwell: That's the problem with the past a lot of people refuse to study history therefore repeating the same mistakes we made in the past.
Luz: So, then what's out there, what aren't you sharing with us?
Auqkwell: Belos isn't the only evil that has come to the Boiling Isles before the magic war took a lot from people.
Luz: Really because I was just talking with Eda, and she told me that she went to the library and looked for the forbidden records of the past of the Boiling Isles and couldn't find anything about a Great Magic War. So, let me ask you again what you are doing here and what do you want with Eda?
Kimi: Look we shouldn't have lied to you, we are just trying to get home, and we think Eda can help us.
Luz: Weren't you thrown out by your own people though.
Kimi: For the most part yes, we weren't lying about that we were kicked out for standing up to how corrupt the council was but that's not entirely the whole story.
Luz: So, then what is?
Kimi: Where we live in the City of Anderestero we are known to be a big fishing town and technologically advanced and full of culture, but when me and Aqui found that somebody was trying to smuggle sacred artifacts out of the city we tried to stop them, but we weren't lucky.
Luz: Why would somebody be trying to smuggle ancient artifacts out of our city?
Aqukwell: Let's just say we have some artifacts in our city that can make you rich and lots of explorers have tried to do that over the years.
Luz: So, what specifically was somebody trying to smuggle?
Aqukwell: It is called the gem of Auqena and holds a lot of the secrets to our city
Kimi: Somehow they were able to get into our archives in our sacred vault under town hall and if this information about our city get's leaked huge information could change the world.
Luz: It's like for some reason people always want to get in the way of progress.
Kimi: See we knew you would understand now can you get Eda to help us.
Luz: How do you expect me and Eda to help you, I mean you were sent away from your city, so the odds of you being welcomed back aren't great.
Kimi: There are keys that are used to access different dimensions like the portal door that you have with that we can get back to our home.
Luz: Look I feel bad for you guys, but I can't just let anyone have the Portal Door besides how do you know about that.
Kimi: What does that matter if you have it you can help us make a wrong right isn't that what heroes are about?
Luz: Yes, but not like this I'm sorry I'm out besides I must go see Eda.
(Luz leaves the cafeteria to go see Eda in her office while Kimi and Auqkwell stay in the cafeteria by themselves)
Auqkwell: And just when I thought we were getting somewhere. What the hell made you bring up the portal door now there is going to be even more suspicion of us.
Kimi: There is still one more idea I have.
Auqkwell: What's that?
Kimi: Follow me.
(Kimi and Auqkwell leave the Cafeteria and Luz walks into Eda's office and finds her sitting at her desk.)
Eda: Oh, Luz I'm glad you're here there is some news we want to share with you.
Luz: I have some news to share with you about Kimi and Auqkwell… wait a minute did you say we.
The Collector: Hey, Luz it's been a while.
King: We have a lot to talk about with you.
Luz: It's so good to see you guys again. I have a lot to share with you as well.
(Suddenly a crow flies into Eda's office and a scroll drops down to the ground for Eda to read)
King: Since when did we use crows as a form of communication on the Boiling Isles.
Luz: Amity and Lilith thought this was a faster way of getting urgent news out to people.
The Collector: It is interesting, so what does it say Eda.
Eda: Odalia has escaped the Conformatorium.
