Chapter 1

Well here we go, the next proper chapter. I'd like to clear up a few things. 1: No Lemons in this story. I've got nothing against those stories. I just don't know if I can write them and do it justice. I may try to one day as a tie-in story to this one but it'll be published as a standalone. 2nd: With the characters that have "Type 2" versions of them. I am not going to say one way or the other which version they are as I see them as the same character. For Hornet at least I will probably be referencing skins for both 'versions' so just roll with it lol. In the end It's up to the reader which they want to picture well reading the story.

Brooklyn stood waiting for the new commander. Hoping he wouldn't be late as that would be a bad first start and after the last commander she was really hoping for a decent one. A more competent commander would give her the time to do her actual work and maybe more free time to pursue other interests. Her eyes lingered on Northampton as she walked by the admin building. The Manjuu had already set up all the commander's belongings in his quarters earlier last week. The only thing missing was the commander himself.

Presently a lone figure came walking up the road to the base. Gave his clearance at the gate and the little guards let him in. Looking around he got a self guided tour of the base, seeing what he believed was the dorms for the girls. A cafeteria and a path down to the shore with the docks and maintenance bays. Following the other path led to a 2 story office building. Past it was a lone little house . The base commander's house he presumed.

Looking at the entrance to the base office he saw a tan girl with blond hair. Trying to remember the names on the files of KANSEN assigned to the base. The CL-40 on her outfit tripped his memory. This was Brooklyn. The KANSEN acting base commander until he arrived and a girl with a lot of influence in the spheres of X with the other factions. With a reputation like that he already knew he would be glad to have her as one of the shipgirls we would be working with.

Brooklyn watched slightly curious as the rather surprising sight of the new commander walked towards her. He had scruff on his chin. Was not in uniform. Just a man with messy brown hair that desperately needed a trim.

"Welcome Commander Carver, I'm Brooklyn. Lead Ship of the Brooklyn Class Light Cruisers and acting commander of this Base until you officially take over today." The words flowed direct and precise from her, as if she's practiced half a dozen times on how to say this officially. Which she had of course, much to the annoyance of Northampton who listened each time. Not that either of them had minded spending the time together.

The commander nodded with a smile "Thank you Brooklyn, it's a pleasure to meet you. If you could, would you please direct me to the Base Commander's quarters? So I can get back to looking like an officer again as I've been on leave for two weeks before arriving here to take command."

Brooklyn cracked a smile, the diplomat relaxing a bit. "Of course Sir, it's down the path that leads to the right of this building. It's that little house off to the side." The Commander nodded, his earlier guess having been proven correct. "And that would explain the rather unprofessional look" she said with a smirk. This got a loud deep laugh out of the Commander. In the normal navy no subordinate would have dared talk like that to a superior officer. But he had heard the KANSEN had their own flare when it came to authority and that certainly proved it. Given it had come from one well known for being rather by the book but he didn't mind.

"Yes, yes I do look rather shabby for an officer" he chuckled. "Give me a little while and I'll be back down, cleaned up and in uniform and we can do the proper handing over of command. How does that sound?" He finished with a smile.

"Perfectly fine with me Sir." She said with the seriousness coming back to her voice. The Commander gave a smile and a nod as he turned and started walking down the path. He looked around the house after closing the door. It was a modest one level house with a nice living room greet you as you walked in. The rest was split on either side of the living room, on the left side was the kitchen and a small dining area. On the right was the bedroom and the bathroom. Each had a door that faced the living room. They were also connected by a large walk through closet. "Enough looking around for now it's time to get back to work," he thought as he started to shave off the small beard that made him look rather different. Afterall, that was why he had it so people wouldn't recognize him when he sang. His mind thought back to the night before, remembering how good of a performance it was. Then the blond haired woman he saw in the crowd came back to mind. He hadn't talked to her or even seen her after that last song. They both just never ran into each other in the time before he had to leave. He sighed, such was the way of a musician.

Walking back down to the admin building, Brooklyn was standing outside waiting for him. He was clean shaved and fully dressed in uniform. He once again looked the part of a Commander.

"Welcome back Commander Carver, if you would follow me inside I'll get you all up to speed on the going ons of the base." Brooklyn said as she opened the main door and gestured for him to enter.

"That sounds like a good plan, thank you Brookl…."

"HI COMMANDER!!" was loudly shouted in his face by a whirlwind of blond as he walked in.
