Chapter 19: A Blast from the Past
Year: X753. 31 years till Canon begins.
Cade POV:
"Hey Cade!" Came the voice of Gildarts from behind me. Currently I was waiting at Magnolia Station to wish the candidates for the S-Class trials good luck for their trial ahead. There were quite a few guild members from the guild here to cheer the three candidates on. I recognised almost all of them. Of course Ivan was nowhere to be seen.
I then turned around to face Gildarts. "Gildarts, was wondering when you would show up." I welcomed with a smile as looked back to see him behind me. "How do you think they'll do?" I said curiously.
"Well I think one of them will pass, I don't really think there have been any years in which there has been no winner during the trials." Gildarts explained as stood next to me. "Then again, Master himself is getting involved…" He finished, trailing of at the end.
"Yeah… how do they expect to win if Master is gonna be in their way?" I questioned to Gildarts with a raised eyebrow. From what I had heard since joining the guild, it seemed to impossible to beat a Wizard Saint. They were apparently incredibly strong wizards; so much so that a clash between two could cause a potential cataclysm.
"Strength isn't everything about becoming S-Class you know. That's what your father told me." Gildarts said glancing up at the clear sky.
"What? My father told you that?! What exactly did he mean by that?" I inquired with deep interest.
"Well, when we were training one time he brought up the idea if I wanted S-Class or not. I said that I did, and he told me that it was important that I make to sure to remember two things." Gildarts spoke out as he looked back down to me.
"The first, was that I have to remember that there is more to being S-Class than just being strong and powerful. Being an S-Class also comes some with responsibility. Making sure are ready to put yourself before others during dangerous situations." Gildarts started.
"The second was making sure that you always remember our weakness. By doing so it means that we can become strong and overcome our weakness." Gildarts finished, with a smile to me.
I was really surprised from what I heard from Gildarts. Father really thought about all of that? "Wow… didn't think he had that sort of stuff in him. Maybe he was planning on telling me that if I joined Fairy Tale and he… was still around." I muttered frowning, as I looked away awkwardly at that last part.
Gildarts seemed to notice my discomfort, and put his hand on my shoulder. "It's ok Cade. I'm sure your father would be quite proud about what you are doing now. The fact that you are learning two magics instead of one!" Gildarts assured with a grin, as I turned back to look at him.
"Heh, thanks Gildarts." I said with a small smile. We then turn back around to examine the station to see if any of the candidates had arrived yet. Sadly none of them seemed to have arrived yet. It was currently 11:30 AM, so they still had 30 minutes to arrive.
"Hey I'm curious about something. Did you ever find out what kind of enchantment spells were in that spell book of yours?" Gildarts asked me.
I then turned back around to look at him. Currently I hadn't told him whether master level enchantment spells were in the spell book I was translating or not. Mainly because… I didn't know, I mean when I first told Master a year ago he didn't know and chances are, everyone from Malvel's and Velmal's time period is most likely dead now.
"Oh, I'm not actually sure about that myself. I've had rely on the diary pages to get more information about what spells might be in the spell book or not."
I did try to skip ahead to the last few pages to see what there was, but the runes did not like that one bit. I was zapped with lightning for trying to skip ahead. I did see a message appear in the runes, that asked for a password, that would let me skip ahead to any page I wanted. The issue was, I simply had no idea what the password was. I couldn't translate it by using the sheet I had gotten a year ago now, I was just asking for it right then and there.
"Oh, well that's a shame. I was wondering what kind of other spells enchantment wizards can do other than enchant weapons and armour." Gildarts commented with his smiling fading a bit as he said that.
"Ah, don't worry. I'm sure I'll get through this spell book in a couple of years… give or take!" I said in a positively sarcastic manner. Gildarts just rolled his eyes at me before looking back out at the station.
We both then saw one of the chosen candidates enter the station with a rucksack slung over her shoulder. Eva Heart had entered, and was quickly swarmed by many of the guild members asking how her training went over the last week.
"Hey what magic does Eva use again?" I asked to Gildarts as I noticed that Eva was trying to find some peace and get away from all the guild members around her.
"I think she uses a special kind of mirror magic. Pretty sure it can summon a copy of the person who looks in a mirror she summons." Gildarts answered. "I think the copy will always be a little weaker than the person she is focusing on though." Gildarts continued.
"Huh, kinda of a cool magic." I said, as I thought about the idea of summoning a bunch of copies of swarm your opponent. "Hey isn't that Quikora coming?" I pointed to the entrance of the station, where I saw a person who resembled him coming in through the door.
"Yeah I think it is. Guess they're all arriving now." Gildarts explained as we looked back up at the clock. It read 11:49 AM. "Well that's only 11 minutes left for Lee to arrive, here's hoping for his sake that he makes it." Gildarts said as he looked around the station and saw Quikora and Eva standing together and delivering small talk to each other.
"Quikora uses illusion magic right?" I said to Gildarts curiously as I also looked over to where the two candidates were. I think I had seen Quikora use illusions once in the guild to trick everyone so that there was no more beer, so he could have it all to himself.
"Yep. He's pretty advanced with it, to the point where you have no idea if he's even casting spells or not." Answered Gildarts with a nod of the head.
'Yes… that's what illusion magic is…?' I thought in confusion as I looked over to Gildarts.
"What kind of magic does Lee use then?" I said to Gildarts, who then turned back to me.
"I don't actually know… he's hardly in the guild so I haven't really seen him cast magic before. He only comes back when there's important announcements or events going on." Gildarts said dryly.
"Ah, well I wou – Hey look it's Master!" I pointed to the station entrance, where I saw Master Makarov enter the station wearing his white Wizard Saint uniform. Many of the guild members let him through as well as the civilians nearby. When Master got to the edge of the platform where the train would be arriving. He stopped and turned to face the two candidates.
"Alright the three of you are here now, so we just have to wait for the train to arrive then we will be off." Master stated with a nod of his head.
"Uh, Master… Lee is still to arrive." Eva spoke out to the Master.
"Oh right. You can come out now Lee." Master said, turning to look to a pillar on his left. As he said that a man came out of the pillar as if he had just been standing in there the whole time.
There were several gasps of confusion and surprise from the guild members of how Lee just did that there. Me and Gildarts were especially impressed by how that happened.
"Was that his magic just there?" I said to Gildarts, still in awe at that display just there.
"It must have been… but what kind was it?" Gildarts muttered to me as he looked at Lee curiously. It was after that happened, the train had arrived to take the three candidates and Master away to Oshinibana town.
"Alright then! Everyone, say good luck to the Candidates this year!" Shouted Master as he got on board the train, with the other three candidates getting on soon after. There were multiple cheers and words of encouragement from the guild members there, including me and Gildarts.
Eventually the train departed and all the guild members in the station left and went their separate ways upon exiting the building. Me and Gildarts, were the last to leave. Us wanting to watch the train until we couldn't see it anymore.
We then exited the station, and Gildarts turned to me after we did. "So then, you heading back to finish decoding that page you're on?" He wondered curiously.
"Sure am. I'll be sure to run down and tell you all about it, if it's anything big of course. Doubt you'd be interested in another weapon enchantment." I said smartly as I tuned away from him and headed back to the manor.
"Ha, ha, very funny." Gildarts laughed sarcastically. "See you Cade, I'll be at the guild today if you do actually want to find me!" He shouted, as I looked back and saw him turning away to head towards the guild. With that out of the way, I headed back to the manor eager to finish that stubborn page.
"Ah, back already then Cade? How was it?" Asked my mother as I made it up the stairs of the manor. She was just coming to the stairs wearing some rather nice clothing. It wasn't anything super fancy, but it still looked quite formal.
"Oh it was fine, we got to see everyone off at the train station. I made sure to give them a cheer of good luck before they left though." I explained smiling at her. "Are you going out into town?" I said, as I looked at her clothing.
"Yes, I'm just heading down into to library." She answered with a nod. "I'm hoping to find a new book in there, I haven't borrowed one for a good while now. Say, what are you doing back here? I'd thought you be at the guild and be ready to go on another job?" She inquired to me.
"I'm hoping to finish decoding the page I'm currently on in the spell book. Page 10 I believe, after that I only have around 40 more pages to go!" I said cheerfully to mother.
"You've made great progress this last year, I'm really proud of you." She commented, smiling sweetly at me.
"Aw, thanks." I replied as I moved over to hug her, for her kind words just there. When the hug broke, she moved to go down the stairs, but turned to me before she did.
"By the way, Pierce and Charles are outside tending to the garden. They are trying to get all the water that Aquarius splashed all over the garden, now that's it's began to sink in properly our garden is almost a swamp." She explained dryly, before continuing to down the stairs. "Good luck Cade!"
"Thanks! I'll do my best!" I shouted, as I waved to her as she left the manor and shut the door behind her. After she left I moved to my room to finally get this page finished once and for all.
When I entered my room, I grabbed the spell book from under my bed and placed it on my desk. I then sat down at the desk and opened the book to page 10. I had kept the translating sheet inside the spell book, and it was at page 10; It almost acting like a bookmark. There was also a scrap of paper that had the part of the verse I had to read to unlock this page.
—
"The real test is not whether you avoid this failure, because you won't. It's whether you let it harden or shame you into inaction, or whether you-
—
That was about all I had done so far. I was quite thankful that it wasn't another annoying tree joke. This one seemed like it was the real deal in terms of difficulty, as it was by far the longest and the hardest verse to translate. The runes were also coloured golden for some reason.
Perhaps the most difficult thing about this was that the runes on the page were constantly changing. One time I would find a rune that would translate to the letter A, then two seconds later it would change to a rune that translated into the letter X.
At first I thought that it would be impossible to actually translate this page, but as I was about to give up I noticed that the ever changing runes had a pattern to them. They would always change between three different runes/letters at a time. This technically meant that there was up to three different verses that could unlock this page.
The reason why I've been focusing on this one verse in particular (which I dubbed verse 3) is because when I fully translated the other verses (verse 1 and verse 2) they just spelled out a bunch of gibberish which was unintelligible and didn't make any sense.
Verse 3 however, did make sense. As such I knew I was on the right track to finally unlocking this page. The fact that it was so hard to get done, and the fact that the runes were golden made me think that this page had to have something good inside of it. If it was just another weapon enchantment then I would probably throw the book out of the window.
As I got back to translating the runes on the page, I found myself getting closer and closer to getting the full english verse. Around a full two hours later (it would have been less if I didn't get distracted with other non important things) I was finally, FINALLY able to translate the verse:
—
"The real test is not whether you avoid this failure, because you won't. It's whether you let it harden or shame you into inaction, or whether you learn from it; whether you chose to persevere."
—
I smiled at the quote that was I had spent the last few months trying to get done. It may not have awarded with a million jewels as a reward, but it was still satisfying to finally finish. I then placed my hand onto the page and read out the verse as per usual.
However, as I read out the verse for this page, the page began to glow a brilliant white and golden colour before the light from the page quickly engulfed my entire bedroom and blinding my eyes.
'What the!? What's going on!?' I panicked, as I then had to close my eyes and cover them with my arm to stop the light from hurting them. Eventually I heard a soft humming sound and I felt the light disappear from the room. I then removed my arm and slowly opened my eyes. The thing was… when I opened my eyes… I was no longer in my bedroom anymore.
'ARGH! Where the hell am I?' I was screaming internally, while thinking some much stronger language than my mother would have liked to hear me say. From what I could see around, I was now in standing the middle of a town. The sky was a grey colour, with clouds covering the blue sky.
I frantically looked around the town to see if there was anyone around that I could ask for help. But as I was looking around the town, I noticed a familiar building - Kardia Cathedral.
'What!? Why is Kardia Cathedral here!?' But then as I looked around I began to see some more familiar sights. 'Wait…' I took another look around. There were pathways that I recognised, going in directions I recognised all too well.
"No way… I am in Magnolia!?" I shouted in panic, putting my hands on my head in disbelief.
'No wait, this can't be Magnolia… everything looks so much older than how it usually does.' I then looked closer at the buildings around me. The buildings weren't as colourful as they usually were, they also looked a lot smaller as well. In fact, the whole town looked like it was built a few years ago.
"Christ. Have I gone back in time!?" I yelled in horror, my words seemingly going into thin air.
"Well, that's one way of looking at it I guess." Came an unfamiliar voice from a direction I couldn't determine.
"Who's there?!" I shouted in a panic, looking around to see who said that.
"Hey, calm down there kid." Replied a cool and smooth voice from behind me. I quickly turned around to see who said that, me preparing a spell in case they were hostile.
In front of me I could now see a tall young man with medium-length, wavy and spiked dark-blond hair; he had thick eyebrows and very prominent eyelashes, he also had green eyes. He was wearing a black turtleneck, over the top of which he wore a leather jacket with a folded, fur-trimmed collar and breast pockets on either side. He also wore simple pants with frayed hems and plain black shoes. He noticed my spell and frowned.
"Come on kid, I'm just making sure you're alright. No need to get hostile towards me." The man commented.
"It's Cade." I answered sternly to the mysterious man. "I think I have every right to panic considering I've been pulled out of my bedroom and thrown to… whatever this place is!"
"This is Magnolia, and the year is X688." The man said casually.
'No! I have actually gone back in time after all!' I was now getting a really sick feeling in my stomach. 'Will… I ever get to go home?' I thought, as I was filled with paranoia.
"H-How… How d-do I get back?!" I demanded to the man, my voice shaking.
"Oh don't worry, you'll be going back in a bit no matter what. Just relax." The man assured, as he now approached me. I backed off a bit, upon seeing him coming to me but I chose to let him. I could always fight back if he turned hostile.
"You know, I'm surprised that a kid like you was the first to try to unlock that page there. What was it… page 10?" The man commented trailing of at the end, trying to think about that detail.
"What!? How do you know that!?" I spoke up panicking once again, as I prepared a spell to fire at him.
"Cause I'm the one that put that enchantment on the page." The man answered, as he finally made it to me and now stood just in front of me.
"…"
"…"
"What?"
I then immediately froze. "Wh-What did you say just there." I asked slowly, my eyes widening as he said that.
"Yup. I was the one who put that enchantment on that page. Ok well I got someone else to do it for me, but it was my verse, my idea, my money paying him to do it…" He kept saying as he trailed off.
'He… put that enchantment on that page… But that… that means!?' I let out a large gasp of surprise, as I finally learned out who this man in front of me was. "WOAH! Y-You're a founder of Fairy Tale!" I yelled at him in shock and also a bit of disbelief.
"Hey no need to shout there, I can hear you just fine." The man said in surprise at my outburst. "But yes I am one of the founders. Yuri Dreyar, is my name." He declared as he pointed at himself with his thumb giving a smirk as he did.
"N-NO WAYYYYYYYYY!" I shouted, completely flabbergasted at what this man said – mainly what his last name was. "I don't believe it… you're Master Makarov's father!?" I realised with my mouth hanging open as I finished that.
Yuri's face dropped when I said that.
"HUH?! What!? Father!? Me a father!?" Blurted Yuri, who was quite taken aback with what I just said to him. "Kid what did you mean by that just there! Am I a father in the future!?" Yuri demanded panicking, as he bent down to my level and put his hands on my shoulder with a fearful expression on his face.
"Uhh, yeah your son Makarov." I explained casually to Yuri, before then remembering what year it was. "Wait… he hasn't been born yet has he?" I said with realisation.
'Oh…'
'Oh no…'
"I HAVE A SON?!" Yuri screamed in the air, as he stood up and put his hands on his head. Yuri then began to ask a million other questions at once which startled me. Gone was the calm and cool mannered individual. Now before me, stood a rattled and fear filled man due to me spoiling his future.
"WAIT WHO'S THE MOTHER?!" Asked Yuri quickly.
"Uhhhhhhhh well-" I began to say.
'Christ, I'm not even sure who his wife is! Master never mentioned her to me!'
"No! Wait, wait, wait!" Yuri interrupted quickly holding out his hand in front of me to stop me talking, which I did. "Erm, maybe don't mention who the mother is. I think I've had enough surprises for one day." He said, calming himself down after he said that to me, though I could tell we was still barely holding it together.
"Well… this isn't how I thought things were supposed to go when this would eventually happen. To think I become a father…" Yuri said with a soft laugh and a smile, as he then looked up at the sky.
"So, uh, how was this supposed to go then?" I asked curiously. Maybe it wasn't the brightest idea to say that Yuri had a son when he literally told me earlier that I had been thrown back in time. Oh well, thinking about it he probably would have fainted if I had told him that his son would be Guild Master and a Wizard Saint in the future.
Yuri cleared his voice.
"You're translating the spell book right? Well, that page in particular that you were translating is a pretty powerful spell so we four founders put a powerful spell on it so that would mean that you would be sent to one of us. Then we would decide if you were worthy of using said spell." Yuri explained, looking back down at me.
"Ah, I see." I muttered, slowly nodding my head as he said all of that.
'Now it makes a bit more sense as to why I'm here in the past. They must have some sort of powerful spell to send me here and then send me back when they're finished with me.'
"Just tell me this, is it Malvel's or Velmal's spell book?" Yuri asked, him looking quite serious as he said that.
"It's Malvel's book." I replied to him.
'Probably best to not tell him about the fact that Velmal's spell book went missing in the future. I don't want to end up causing a time paradox or something like that.' I was nervous of the idea of returning home and seeing Magnolia gone, or me not existing.
"Ah, I see. That wasn't the book I done then. Me and Precht put runes on Velmal's book." Yuri said to me with his mouth curling up a little as he said that. "Now then…" He muttered, crossing his arms and turned to look down at me with a serious and hard expression.
"Uh… is there a problem?" I wondered in confusion.
"Tell me kid. Why did you want to learn Enchantment Magic? I also assume you knew about the fact that these spells were once used by Dark Wizards?" He demanded raising his eyebrow at me.
'This must be him seeing I'm worthy or not! He seems way more serious about this than his son was. That's fair I suppose, especially considering that he may have actually fought against Malvel and Velmal in the past. He knows them better than me or anyone else.'
"I'm learning the spells because it's what my father wanted. The knowledge of the book was a gift for my 10th birthday. My father… died getting it for me." I answered with a sad tone.
"Ah, I'm… sorry to hear that." Yuri replied solemnly with a frown. After a minute of silence he then looked at me. "What have you done with the spells since learning them?" He asked curiously.
"Well I've only learned basic weapon enchantments. So I've only really been enchanting weapons to use in battle."
'Probably best he doesn't know that I have been doing for a lot of the members in the guild.'
"I see…" Yuri said, as he put his hand on his chin and started thinking carefully. Then he suddenly had a look of surprise on him before turning back to me. "Hey kid, what year is it where you're from?" He inquired.
"Oh, uh X753." I stated to the founder.
"Is my son a member of Fairy Tale?" Yuri said with a serious and yet fearful expression.
I thought about this for a moment. I took a deep breath before answering.
"You bet he is." I answered with a smirk.
"So tell me this. What does my son think of all of this. You learning Enchantment Magic I mean." He asked nervously.
I looked surprised to hear him say that, but I answered him regardless. "He was nervous at first when he learned it was Enchantment Magic, but he was ok with the idea and gave me full approval of me doing it." I said answering his question.
"Hmmm." Yuri said before getting down at my level again and began to make direct eye contact with me. I was a little disturbed by this, but I didn't back away from him. I stared back at him, trying to seem like I wasn't afraid of him. After what felt like an hour, Yuri broke eye contact with me and stood back up and looked down at me.
"You know, I don't really think it matters where magic comes from." Yuri started off. "I think what matters the most is who uses it and how they use it. Malvel and Velmal used their magic to work in Blue Skull and commit all sorts of horrible acts. However, in the end those spells of theirs never really belonged to them, neither does any magic truly belong to anyone if you think about it. I can tell that you are a good kid Cade, so… I approve of you accessing pages 10 – 19." Yuri confirmed with a smile.
"Oh! Really! Thanks you so much Yuri!" I shouted with delight. "I'll do you founders proud, I promise!" I said, holding my hand outwards for Yuri to shake which he did.
"Oh and I'll ask sure to tell your son you said hi to him – ok you didn't say that, but I gotta tell him I saw you here and that you said something." I said with a light laugh as I said that to him.
"Ah yes… about that…" Yuri said awkwardly, scratching his hair as he said that to me. "I'm afraid you'll forget all this when you head back to your own time. Sorry about that." He awkwardly explained with a frown.
"WH-WHAT!? But your son Makarov! I want to tell him how I saw you here and how you were happy for him!" I protested at Yuri.
"I'm sorry, but it's not my decision to make. When we put these type of spells on these pages we made it to where you would forget everything that happened here. Obviously If I knew I'd have a son in the future then I wouldn't have let that happen, but nooooo 'we'll want to remain anonymous and make sure the reader won't spill any of our secretes we may give out.' Yeah, thanks Precht!" Yuri snapped, before taking a deep sigh.
"What I do know however, is that when you completely finish translating the spell book you'll get back all the experiences you had with us four." Yuri explained to me. "So you'll get your chance then."
"Well that's nice to know for going bac- no wait! I'll forget all this so it doesn't even matter!" I snapped furiously. This caused Yuri to laugh out loud for a while at my frustration. He eventually calmed down and turned to look at me.
"Well then Cade, if others in the guild are like you then I'm sure the future is in good hands." He said giving a thumbs up at me. "Now then, I think it's time you wake up now." He stated, as he turned away from me, holding up his hand as if to say goodbye.
"Huh? What do you mean wa-"
'Huh? Did I just fall asleep?' I thought as I suddenly found my head lying on its side on Malvel's spell book. 'How long was I out for?' I mused, as I slowly raised my head and opened my eyes. I then stood up and looked out my window.
It was sunset.
'What in the!? I must have been out for hours!? Great… now I'm never getting asleep tonight.' I sighed to myself. Just then the door opened and my mother walked in, carrying a trey with some food.
"Ah, look who's awake." She commented raising an eyebrow at me in a humorous mood. "You were asleep for hours you know? You'll probably never get to sleep tonight now." She explained with a frown. "By the way, did you finish translating that one page you were struggling with for the last few months?"
"Oh er, I think I was about to say the verse that unlocks it but I fell asleep before I could." I said a little embarrassed, as I scratched my hair.
My mother just smirked at me. "Well, there's some food still left over from dinner. I brought it up to you in case you were awake and wanted it. She said, placing the trey on the dresser.
"Thanks for that." I said smiling at her. "Did you have fun at the library today?"
"Oh yes I did. Was able to pick up a fantasy book, today. They didn't have the one I was looking for unfortunately. Seems someone beat me to it." She answered sadly. "Anyway, good luck getting to sleep tonight Cade!" She said, snickering a little, before leaving and closing the door behind her.
'I can't believe I was out for the whole day! Was I really that tired?' I began to think. I got a great sleep last night, so I can't imagine why I would suddenly be so tired. 'Maybe it's a growing thing.' I speculated, before going over to Malvel's book to take a look at it.
When I got to the book, I was surprised to see that the page was already translated! 'What!? How did this happen!? My head was on top of the book, so it's not like someone slipped it under my head and just put it back. Hmm, maybe I translated it and then I fell asleep.' I concluded.
As I took a look at the now translated page 10, I was surprised to see two words with handwriting that didn't match Malvel's handwriting, written down the side of the page.
—
Good luck
—
That was it? I mean… that's not a bad message to say… but it doesn't really explain how and why it is there on the page. And why was it only on page 10?
'I swear this day is getting stranger and stranger.' First it was seeing Lee emerge from a pillar, then I apparently fell asleep for over 5 hours and after I find a message that doesn't make any sense!
I chose to ignore those questions, and looked down to examine what kind of spell I had just unlocked. Hopefully it was a physical enchantment or a defensive one perhaps?
"…"
"…"
"N-NOOOOOO WAYYYYYYY!" I cried out loud after reading what type of spell I had just learned. 'This… this can't be real!' I examined the page again.
—
High Enchantment – Henshin I
Allows magical solid matter to be changed into stone. The stone(s) are not treated as a magical solid. This process can be reversed by reverse engineering the spell on the stone to turn it back into the original solid material.
—
Material Change!? I can now turn any magical solid into stone!? Christ that's powerful! This was my first High level Enchantment and it certainly shows the difference in power between Basic enchants and High Enchants. 'Does this really work on anything I want as long as it is a solid material that is magical?' I began to think of all the possibilities that I had now.
'If Master Makarov sees this he'll probably faint right on the spot due to how powerful this is.' Assuming this could change any magical solid matter into stone, would that mean I could make certain Wizards attacks completely useless against me?
I mean if a wizard was using say plant magic against me and they growing a huge plant to attack me with, could I just turn the plant into stone and render all their type of attacks useless to me?
Huh.
Well it's not effective against all forms of magic, I mean my opponents in the future may use a magic that would benefit their attacks tuning into stone.
Like say for example wood, glass, clay, earth, ice-
Hold on.
Wait…
No…
Surely… I can't turn my own ice magic into stone right? But there wasn't anything on the page saying that it doesn't work on your own magic! Could I do it? Turn my own ice magic into stone? It would certainly increase the durability and strength of my attacks. If that did work… I'd be gaining quite the power boost.
With these wild thoughts and ideas of what could happen flying through my brain, I decided to try and rest for the rest of the night and focus on all of this tomorrow. I would head down to the guildhall and see Master about the spell I had just learned. Maybe I'd even get to see whether I can change my ice into stone. Tomorrow there were major headways to be made!
And that's a wrap! Hope you all enjoyed this chapter! Do leave a review if you liked it.
Now. I'm sure a lot of you are wondering about the whole time travel sort of thing that happened this chapter. Don't worry it doesn't break Fairy Tales rules of time travel (changing the past will change YOUR future, hence why Future-Lucy got a good ending even though she died.) Everything shall be explained in later chapters so you have no need to panic.
Anyway, in this chapter we got to see Cade meet a founder of Fairy Tale. I was debating on who he should meet, but I think Yuri makes a good first choice out of the four. You can try to guess what order the other ones will be in.
We also got to finally see a High Class Enchantment spell for the first time in this story. I know some of you may think I'm being too generous with the MC's main powers, but I honestly think it's really clever to have awaken ice magic and then be able to use his enchantments to switch the material of the ice into something else.
Anyway, I hope to see you all in the next chapter!
Crhis11 - Thank you for the kind review!
PS: Special Thanks to Barak Obama for the verse line in this chapter!
