Chapter 37: A Dashing Rescue

Year: X756. 28 years till Canon begins.

Cade POV:

"I must say Cade I am impressed by just how fast you can run, and keep up with me." Mato praised as we kept running through the forest. "You sure you don't have Speed Magic?"

"Oh this isn't the result of magic Mato." I remarked. "It's the result of years of experience being part of a guild." Mato looked a bit confused so I chose to elaborate a bit more for him. "It's a secret technique that all wizards in a guild do if they are being chased by Rune Knights."

Mato gave me a bewildered look. "You run away?"

"If we ever cause any large collateral damage and it gets the attention of the authorities, then we make sure to run away to not get caught by them. If they can't catch us, then they can't find out what guild we are a part of! As such, our guild will remain free from any accusations by the Magic Council." I explained.

"That's… not what I was expecting." Mato confessed as we kept running. "Though you better put that running to good use if we find the criminals and they try to get away."

"Do you have an idea of where they would go from here? You would know this area better than me."

"Other than Aster Village and this forest, there isn't really all that much around here that they could hide in. Though… When you exit this forest, a couple hundred meters north is a small recluse of trees. They might be going to hide there." He suggested.

"We heading in that direction?" I had honestly lost track of where we had started from when we left Elder Lotho earlier. If I were to get back to the village on my own, I doubt I could do it.

Sure I studied a book on how to navigate forests successfully, but all the advice for when the forest turns nightfall, involved just finding a good place to sleep. Maybe if it turned daytime I could get out of here and back to the village.

"We are. A few more minutes and we should be exiting this forest." Mato explained. "We need not worry about getting lost in the dark. My fire will light the way."

"Depending on how many people we end up seeing, we may need to call for backup. I have a way of doing that so don't worry. I doubt this kidnapping was a solo act, there's probably more than one person involved in this." Mato affirmed.

"Well we might be about to find out. I think I can see the edge of the forest up ahead." I declared, as I pointed ahead of us. I could see the edge of the forest just coming up, the trees breaking away from each other as we got closer.

We both burst though the forest and had now came out on the opposite side. It seemed that we were on a hill, as I found that we were looking down on the nearby terrain. I quickly looked around and I couldn't see any notable features. Aster Village was nowhere to be seen, and it was mostly plains all around.

"Wait! What's that down there!?" Mato exclaimed as he pointed to the left of where we were standing. I looked where he pointed, and I saw a peculiar sight.

I saw multiple small yellow glows far in the distance. They were bobbing up and down, and I think I they were also moving. When I looked a bit closer, (me having to narrow my eyes to see) I think I could spot a few figures and a horse or two moving along with them. It seemed like they were on a pathway, and were following it.

"Wait… do you think that-!" I started to say.

"There's no doubt about it! They must be the criminals! No trader or traveler would move this late at night!" Mato called out to me. "I can't get a rough estimate on how many there are, but there is no more than a dozen or so I reckon. We shouldn't need backup here."

"Then what are we waiting for?!" I shouted.

Me and Mato then sprinted to where the kidnappers were. As we ran, Mato spoke up to me.

"Now that we're getting a bit closer, I think I can see Fea strapped to one of the horses. That one there." Mato pointed to the horse, me now seeing a tied up girl on it. "Listen Cade. When we get there, I want you to go after Fea and rescue her." He asked of me.

"What about you? Will you be able to take all those guys by yourself?" I questioned.

Mato turned and gave me a smirk. "I'll be fine. You just focus on getting Fea back. You're smaller so they'll have a harder time seeing you in all the fighting."

"We're coming up on them now. And I think they've seen us." I stated, as I could now heard voices of panic coming from the crowd we were heading to. The company seemed to be getting ready to fight us, some of them getting off their horses.

As we got closer to them, I could see Fea strapped to one of the horses. There was a gag in her mouth, so she couldn't call for help. When she saw us however, she began to squirm and muffle for help.

"Alright this is it Mato!" I shouted as we had now came up on the company of criminals. I counted 12 of them, along with one rather well dressed with a pointed trilby hat. He seemed like he had been ready to fight us for a while now.

Me and Mato then charged into the company, ready to fight for the safety of Fea.

When we made contact with the criminals, it was an all out brawl of all sorts of different spells.

"Earth Shatter!" "Gusto Break!" "Double Ice Beam!" "Lightning Shot!" "Fire Fist!" "Shimmering Light Bomb!" "Golden Fire Spiral!" "Makinara Strike!" "Cards of Chaos!" "Gravity Shift!" "Star Blast!"

All of these attacks were flying all over the place. Me and Mato made sure to dodge as many as we could here. Any injury we sustained here could cost us the battle.

With how many attacks were being flung our way, most of the criminals attacks ended up hitting their allies. They were smart enough however, to get back up and keep firing at us. If it were Fairy Tale doing this, I guarantee someone would try to hit their ally back for revenge.

I had tried to get close to Fea, but every time I did I was intercepted by a criminal ready to stop me.

While I was doing my best to dodge all the attacks flung my way, and also trying to launch a counterattacks in the process, Mato seemed to be putting in the work. He was using many spells to take down multiple of the criminals at once.

"Golden Fire Cloud!" He shouted, as the powerful and useful cloud of fire, was summoned allowing Mato to hover in the air. "Golden Fire Flamethrower!" He held out his hands and fired the almighty flamethrower at most of the criminals.

Some tried to counterattack with their own spells, which had almost no effect. Many others simply dodged and tried to take the odd shot at Mato whenever they could.

However, Mato's fire got a bit too close to the horse that Fea was tied onto. This scared the horse, and caused it to start running away from where everyone was.

Many of the bandits noticed this, and who I presumed was the leader suddenly yelled out and pointed to the well dressed man.

"Jones! Go after her! Take one of our horses and don't lose her!" He ordered.

"Understood." The man who was called Jones gave a nod, as he then hopped onto another nearby horse and began to chase after Fea's horse.

"No she's getting away!" I cried, right after I finished dealing with a criminal by blasting them in the back.

"Cade go after her!" Mato cried on his cloud, "I'll handle the rest of them here!"

Choosing not to argue, I nodded my head in agreement. "Good luck on your end!" I shouted, as I made my way to the final horse that was near us.

Of course many tried to stop me, but myself and Mato cleared them away with our attacks. We were in no mood to argue. Mato in particular was able to clear me a path, by luring most of the criminals away from where the horse was.

Upon getting to the horse, I jumped onto it and held up the reins.

'… Now what? Do I just – WHOA!'

I had messed around with the reins, and that seems to set the horse into overdrive, as he suddenly began to gallop forward almost sending me off balance. I quickly readjusted myself, before looking to see where Fea and her horse was.

I could see the silhouette of a stallion in the far distance, with another chasing that one. It seemed like they were heading for a small cascade of trees, perhaps the one Mato mentioned to me earlier.

Thinking of him, I looked back and saw that he was still on his cloud, flying around and trying to swat away the wizards that were attacking him. I knew firsthand how powerful he was, so I was confident that he could handle it.

Turning back to my main goal here, I gave a loud "Hya!" And whipped the horses reins again.

'Damn, I feel like the main character in one of the books that I read. Is this how it felt?' I wondered as I felt the wind hitting my face. 'I can't wait to tell everyone in Fairy Tail about this. May have to redact certain details about this whole trip though…'

I continued riding the horse and we were now approaching the small cascade of trees. When I got closer, I found two horses tied up to the nearby tree. Fea was not on any of them.

'The guy that went after her must have tied up the horses here, and took her into the trees.' I realised. 'I gotta be careful here… don't know what his magic is. Also it might be best if I Requip right about now, just realised I'm still in my pyjamas...'

A white glow illuminated the area around me, and I was suddenly requiped into my Crimson Armour. To my left and right waist, were my Kūki and Mizu blades.

I didn't have any rope to tie up my horse to the tree, but my horse approached the other horses and seemed to be getting along with them. With no danger that he would run off, I cautiously made my way into the forest.

I made sure to take it slow and easy, trying to listen where Fea and this criminal were. The trees weren't that thick, and the moon was now out, which helped light up the forest path. I swore I could hear someone as I was moving through the forest, the occasional snap of fallen twigs and branches giving me a near heart attack.

After a minute or two of walking, I came across a small clearing in the forest. Nothing too big, just a small open area. In the area, there was a huge boulder in the other end of the clearing, the boulder was jagged and came upwards pointing to the sky almost. And hanging off the jagged rock, around two meters off the ground was Fea who was hanging up there by the rope on her hands.

When she saw suddenly looked relieved to see me. She began to wiggle and was trying to say something to me.

"Fea!" I cried with relief at her being uninjured. "Don't worry I'll get you down from there." I informed her. But right before I was about to move to free her, a voice suddenly cut me off.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you." Came the voice from ahead of me. I looked forward and saw a rather well dressed man with a pointed trilby hat, appearing on top of the boulder where Fea was.

I suddenly got serious when seeing him. "Who the hell are you?" I questioned with caution. "What do you and your men want with Fea?!"

"I'm not here to play twenty questions kid. I've got a job to do." He answered smartly. "And you're getting in the way of it." He declared as he pulled a pistol out of thin air, and twirled it in his hands.

'Gun Magic…? Wait…!?'

"You! You're the one who shot Master Han back at the monastery!" I shouted at him with anger.

Fea's eyes seemed to widen when I said. Apparently she hadn't been made aware of that detail. The man on the other hand didn't look all that bothered.

"So what if I did? Doesn't change anything right now. Now as I was saying, you're getting in the way of business. I don't particularly like killing as many people as possible on my jobs. Dead men don't tell tales after all." He stated coldly. "So I'll strike you a deal kid. Leave now, and you won't get hurt." He proposed.

"First time someone's ever offered me the chance to walk away. But even if they offered it to me back then, my answer wouldn't change now. I refuse." I narrowed my eyes at the man when I said that.

"So be it." The man said with no emotion.

"Gun Magic: Water Shot!" The assassin shouted, as he swiftly fried his pistol at me. This sent bullets of water in my direction.

"Ice Wall!" I cried, summoning the thick wall of ice to stop the bullets. 'Soar! Soft!' I casted the spells internally.

I heard the assassin give a tsk, when I blocked his bullets there. This caused the water bullets to drench water all over the grassy ground. I then heard the noise of what seemed like him using his magic.

"Gun Magic: Bombardment Blast!" He suddenly shouted, as I then heard the sound of a gun being fired. The thing is, this gun didn't sound like the pistol I heard earlier.

Suddenly my wall of ice exploded sending me flying backwards. When I looked up at the assassin, I saw that he had a shotgun in his hands this time.

'Does his gun magic allow him to summon guns other than just pistols?' I wondered, except I didn't get that much time to think on that more as he swapped his shotgun back out for a pistol.

He then fired his gun rapidly at me, forcing me to dodge to the side. While I dodged through the air, I chose to fire an attack up at the assassin on the rock.

"Ice Beam!" I declared, firing off a beam of ice towards my opponent. I had to be careful here. Fea was tied up and vulnerable while hanging on that rock. I may end up accidentally hitting her if I'm not careful. I would try to cut her down, if there was not a man trying to kill me here.

The assassin jumped and done a backflip backwards to dodge the attack. I saw that he even did it while holding his hat.

Of course this did mean that I lost the man, and now had no idea where he was. I turned back to Fea to reassure her.

"Don't worry, I'll get you out of here. Just need to take care of this guy."

I then tried to look around for the assassin, me even jumping up onto the boulder he was previously on to try and spot him. He was nowhere on the ground, as I turned around fully to try and spot him.

'Where could he have gone? He just did a backflip here, there's hardly anywhere he could have run off to.'

I looked around some more on the boulder to try and spot him.

*rustle rustle*

*snap!*

'That's coming from the trees!' I immediately thought as I heard the noise. I quickly turned around to where I thought the noise was coming from.

*bang!*

"GAAARGH!" I screamed as I felt seething pain, due to being hit on the right side of my chest. My armour did stop it somewhat, as the bullet went in the knacks of the armour.

"Argh, if you hadn't moved there then I would have got you." Stated the assassin who was standing on some thick branches on a tree to my side.

"Damn you! Ice Slicer!" I cried with anger and pain, as I fired at the trees he was in. The assassin quickly jumped from the tree he was hiding in as my attack hit the tree slicing right through it. The assassin dropped to the ground in a crouch.

"Have a taste of your own medicine! Ice Bullets!" I shouted at the assassin.

I then sent dozens of Ice Bullets his way. The assassin ran to the side, dodging the attacks.

I didn't let him go that easy however, as I continued to fire the bullets in the direction he was going. As he ran I saw him whip back out a pistol with his magic, before he aimed it at me. I was ready to block his attack, but then the assassin did something that made me freeze.

He moved his gun, and pointed it at Fea.

My eyes widened. 'No! He wouldn't!'

*click!*

"NO!" I yelled, as I suddenly cancelled my Ice Bullets and dropped down from where I was to stop the bullet from reaching Fea, by taking the hit myself.

Wait… I didn't hear a gunshot there?

'W-What?' I looked up and saw the assassin twirling the gun in his hand, before he opened it to show me.

The gun was empty.

He had fired nothing.

"Your gun was empty?!" I said in disbelief.

"Only this one. It's best used when getting little pest like you to move where I need you to go. I needed you off that high ground, and I had a feeling that you would dart down to save the girl if you thought I threatened her life."

"Just because we're on the same ground now changes nothing! Ice Shards!" I fired dozens of ice shards towards the assassin.

The assassin kept his cool, and pulled out a new gun. He then rapidly fired the gun and shattered all my shards before they reached him.

"Gun Magic: String Shot!" The assassin cried, as he now fired white coloured bullets that exploded into webs of string when they came towards me.

"Don't think so!" I cried, as I leapt up into the air to dodge the string. "Ice Rain!" I shouted, as I called forth dozens of small bits of ice to rain from the sky.

"Hmph!" The assassin held up his gun in the sky, before he fired out a counter spell. "Gun Magic: Shockwave Shot!" He shouted.

This caused bullets to go flying out of his gun, and when they got to the ice in the sky, a shockwave was emitted from them causing the ice to shatter in the sky.

'This guy's good…' I couldn't help but admit the man's skill. He was certainly a tricky one.

The assassin then pointed his gun at me while I was still in the sky. "Here's one more! Gun Magic: Shockwave Shot!" He shouted before he fired another shockwave shot at me. The bullet fired far too fast for me to make a counter spell, causing me to get blasted back a fair bit.

It was my back that hit the ground and not my feet, so I actually felt the pain of crashing into the ground; it not being a pleasant experience.

I heard the sound of the assassins gun clicking again, and I knew that I had to move quickly.

"Gun Magic: Mud Shot!" He cried out, as he fired his gun at me. I scrambled to the side to dodge the attack. I was able to do so, and get back up on my feet.

"Gah! Ice Slicer!" I called, as I sent a large slice of ice his way.

The assassin rolled to the side quite expertly. He then summoned another pistol, him choosing to duel wield now.

"Gun Magic: String Shot! As well as Gun Magic: Mud Shot!" He shouted, as he fired mud from his left pistol and string from his right pistol.

'If any one of those attacks get me then I'm caught and finished!' I frantically realised, as I jumped to the side to dodge his attack. When I jumped I grabbed onto a tree branch that was there, and kicked my legs off the tree truck to go flying through the air to the other side of the clearing.

As I flew over the assassin he held up both his guns and fired a barrage of shots at me.

"Gun Magic: Water Shots!" He shouted, as he once again fired bullets that exploded into water when they came close to me.

Unfortunately I did get soaked a little when I flew over him, my armour getting wet as I flew. As I flew by him though, as I fired off a water attack of my own from my sword.

"Water Blast!" I cried, as I summoned a blast of water down the assassin. He once again jumped backwards to avoid the blow.

Upon landing now on the opposite side of my opponent, he chose now of all times to speak up.

"You made a grave mistake challenging me. Due to you guild wizards feeling the need to get involved in everything, you have made your death a painful one." He stated, as he twirled one of his guns.

I raised one of my eyebrows in confusion. 'What's he planning?'

"I didn't fire water at you. I just said that to throw you off." The assassin the aimed his gun at the ground where I could see a damp spot. It must be leftover from all the liquid he fired at me. He fired his gun and suddenly the ground lit up into flames all of a sudden!

'What in the world!?' I thought in shock. Then the realisation hit me, and fear tricked all throughout my body.

"Y-You didn't fire water at me! You fired kerosene!" I shouted in anger. "That's monstrous!"

"Exactly. That means I only need one more shot to end you for good." The assassin remarked, before he adjusted his trilby hat

'T-This isn't good! All he needs to do is land a single shot at me, and I'm going up in flames! Dammit I'll be burned alive!' I panicked internally.

"This is goodbye kid!" The assassin aimed his gun at me.

"Ice Wall!" I frantically spluttered, as I summoned a wall of ice in front of me to stop any bullets. I then casted the spell again, and summoned walls diagonally to those, to further my defence.

'I'm not going down like this! No way! I made a promise that I would come back to my mother!' I declared in my mind.

"Henshin!" I shouted, as I turned my ice walls into stone.

'Have to get this kerosene off me! But how?!' I began to think of plan to get this liquid off me. 'Ah, That's it! I'll wash it off with my Mizu sword!'

I then prepared to drench myself in enough water to wash all this kerosene off me. Just before I could though, I saw a flicker of movement from the top of my eye.

*bang!*

I jumped back just in time to dodge the bullet as hit just below my feet. I looked up and saw the assassin looking over my Stone Wall. He was clearly holding onto something, as I saw his right arm was down, and he had his pistol in his left hand which was aimed at where I was.

'He scaled my Stone Wall!? This guy's insane! No… he's dedicated that's what he is. What Dark Guild does he belong to?!'

"Dammit!" I heard him hiss under his breath.

"Hurricane!" I yelled at the assassin, sending my fusion attack of water and air to him. He clearly didn't see THAT coming, as he was sent flying backwards and off my wall.

'It's now or never!' I decided, as I used the water from my Mizu sword to spray my whole body and head with fresh water. Within seconds, I was soaked from head to toe in fresh, clean water. I quickly whipped my head back, and pressed my hands to my hair to keep my hair from dripping down during the fight.

Not needing to hide anymore, I jumped up on the walls I had created and prepared to face the assassin again. When I landed on the walls, I saw the assassin looking up at me, him holding his guns out at me.

"Gun Magic: Twister Shots!" He yelled, as he fired a barge of bullets at me.

Getting the idea of what they would do when they hit me, I quickly prepared a counter spell for that.

"Ice Wave!" I shouted, sending a wave of ice in his direction. My ice was able to take the brunt of his bullets, with the bullets turning into small twisters when they hit my attack.

The assassin darted to the side to dodge my attack. I saw that he was now looking quite frustrated, clearly I was getting to him.

The assassin gave a grunt of annoyance, before he then darted back into the trees.

"You're not getting away this time!" I yelled internally, as I chose to follow him.

When I exited the small clearing and entered under the trees, I found that it was frustratingly dark. I could barely see in front of me. How was I suppose to find where the assassin had gone?!

'Argh! I'm going to have to use my ears aren't I?! Can't believe this is happening…!'

By some cruel fate, I was now forced to rely on my hearing to try and find where the assassin was! Here's hoping Master Han's training wasn't for naught.

I closed my eyes and began to focus, taking a quiet and quick breath.

'There!'

"Ice Beam!"

That was perhaps the fastest I've ever casted Ice Beam before in my entire career as a wizard so far. I done an immediate turn to my right and fired the beam behind me, and I heard a loud cry as it hit the assassin!

He must have been trying to hit me from behind. He was certainly a sneaky one, trying to loop back round behind me when I wasn't looking.

I then sprinted to where he got hit, ready to finish this fight. I re-entered the clearing and saw him standing back up, him panting quite a bit.

His clean attire was now looking worse for wear, his hat however looked fine. He gave a scowl when he saw me running towards him, and he held out both his hands and re-summoned his pistols and frantically fired at me in anger and frustration.

I quickly summoned a thick sheet of ice that covered my hands, and could be moulded into a shield to hold up in front of me. I did so, and blocked the bullets as they came shooting towards me.

I then leapt up into the air and prepared my final attack. It was a new move that I was preparing to use whenever I got into a fight with a evildoer on a job. I felt like this was the next best thing, so I decided to go for it!

"You should have never have messed with this village! It doesn't matter what Dark Guild you're a member of! As long as there's blood flowing though my veins, I'll continue to fight you criminals and protect those who need it! Ice Buster!" I shouted with all my might.

I broke my hand away from the makeshift shield I had created and held it up to the assassin as I made it to him. I then fired the attack and it caused an explosion which sent him flying backwards. He then crashed into the ground with a thud, a groan of defeat coming from him.

'Phew. That was scary AND hard.' I remarked, as I made my way up to the assassin.

When I got to him, I saw that he was lying on his side, his right arm underneath his body. "Can't be… I've never failed on a request before..." He muttered.

"We all lose at some point." I stated with a shrug. "Now then, you're coming with me. You'll be sentenced for all the horrible crimes that you have most likely committed. An attempted assassination being one of them." I sternly said, as I looked down at him with a glare.

'Hmm. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure what I'll do with these guys. Maybe I'll hand them over to Aster Village and have then sent to Crocus.' I wondered. However my thoughts were interrupted by the assassin, who was chuckling to himself.

"When I said that I hadn't failed on a request before… I didn't mean that I was planning on surrendering myself to you!" He yelled, as he suddenly whipped out a sharp knife from underneath his body. He had his right hand under his body to grab the knife, not because he was injured!

These next few seconds seemed to go in slow motion for me.

The assassin thrusted his knife up at my face; him intending to go for my throat.

My eyes widened with surprise and fear, as I instinctively leaned back to avoid the blade.

The knife then looked like I was going to skim right by the left side of my face. However… the assassin clicked a button with his thumb on the knife that caused it to extend slightly.

This caused the knife to slash the left side of my face, just under my left eye and not to far away from my nose.

I screamed out in pain as the knife sliced right through my face. I could immediately feel blood start to pour out of my wound. I held up my right hand and pressed it onto my face to try to stop the bleeding, but the blood simply sept through the gaps in my fingers.

The pain was another issue all together. It felt like my face was burning, the red hot pain running all throughout my face. I cried out in anguish, falling to my knees in agony. The blood on my right hand was now trickling down my arm, giving me an uncomfortable feeling.

"One Step Ahead Jones has never failed a request before! And he doesn't plan on losing to a kid!" The assassin shouted at me, him now standing above me. I was then able to make out the sound of him aiming his pistol at me.

"You shouldn't get too cocky." I snarled at him. "Ice Buster!" I screamed at the man, as I fried another buster spell right at his chest.

This sent Jones flying into the trees, him yelling at me as he flew away. I had expected his hat to be left behind due to how fast he was shot off at, but he seemed to hold onto it as he flew away.

'He shouldn't be bothering me anymore…' I concluded internally with deep breathes.

I then winced and clutched my face tighter. "Gah!" I cried in pain.

I then heard the sound of attempted speech, like someone was trying to talk but they couldn't.

"Ah Fea!" I exclaimed in surprise. I had completely forgotten about her during my fight! Mainly because I was so focused on not dying of course.

I quickly made my way over to her, while still clutching my face. I think some of the blood was beginning to dry in on my hand, making an unsettling feeling.

I climbed up onto the rock she was hanging from and began to cut the rope holding her up with one of my swords.

"You may get hurt when you fall here. You are a fair bit off the ground." I warned Fea as I cut the rope holding her. When I finished cutting the rope, she fell to the ground with a thud. I then dropped down and cut her arm and leg binds, while also removing the gag. I had to kneel down to do this, so we were both on the ground.

When she was free and able to speak again, she immediately hugged me in relief at being freed.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" She cried out in joy. Fea then gasped. "Your face! Please let me heal it!" She shouted.

I then removed my hand from my face to let Fea heal it for me. Even though I couldn't see my face, I could feel that there was blood everywhere on the left side of my face. Fea had to wipe some of it away to find the wound. Upon finding it, she held up her hand to it and I could then feel the pain disappearing.

Thankfully the slash Jones had done didn't take out my eye. If I was only a few centimetres to the left, I would have lost my left eye completely. I doubt healing would had been able to save that.

After a minute or so, the pain had completely disappeared and I felt like that battle there had never happened. My body felt better than ever! Yet I felt like my magic hadn't been restored which was interesting.

"Fea you did it! You closed the wound for me!" I said with relief and joy, as I hugged her for saving me there. "Thank you so much!"

Fea returned the hug, wrapping her arms round me tightly. "No thank you Cade! I thought I was going to be sold off to a Dark Guild! I was terrified due to how you described them to me. I thought… that no one was coming to save me…" She then began to cry, her letting all her fear and sadness out now that she was saved.

"H-Hey, it's ok Fea." I reassured her, as she buried her face into my shoulder. "Your father sent all the Seekers out to save you! If I hadn't found you, then I'm sure that someone else would have."

"Ah my father! He must be so worried right now!" Fea gasped suddenly, as she brought her face to look at me. "We have to go back to him!"

"Yes I think that's a good idea." I said, before I then looked around the clearing. Me peeking into the dark trees occasionally. Fea looked a bit confused.

"Just checking to see if that guy is gone… I think I scared him off." I said to Fea.

'That guy was no joke. Probably my most dangerous opponent yet. Sure Gildarts was by far the strongest, but this guy was out to kill me. Hell, he tried to burn me alive! Here's hoping I never see him again…'

"Well if he is gone, I think we should get a move on. Oh Cade!" Fea suddenly said.

"Huh? What is it?" I asked.

"Could you use your water from that sword of yours to clean this blood off us?" Fea requested. "If it dries in then I'll smell terrible, and my father would begin to worry what might have happened to me."

"Oh sure thing." I causally said, as I brought forth a burst of water from my Mizu sword, and began to wipe away all the blood on my and Fea's face and hands. The both of us having to direct each other where some blood was.

Fea's face and hands were completely clean, and she said that she couldn't see anymore blood on my face. When I finished washing my hands, I stood up.

"Alright, let's go! Your father is waiting for you!" I said, looking down at Fea.

Fea tried to stand up, but she fell to her feet upon trying to do so. "Ah! My legs are still hurting from how long they were bound for." She then looked up at me. "C-Could you carry me back…?" She requested shyly.

I smirked and picked her up, one of my arms going under her legs while the other came under her back, Fea giving a gasp of surprise when this happened. "Wow, you're pretty light. I should be able to carry you no bother!" I stated smiling at her.

"O-Oh! Thank you Cade!" She thanked me, as I began to move through the trees.

I then carried Fea out of the clearing and through the small cascade of trees that I had came through. When I exited and got to where I disembarked my horse, I saw that all three of the horses were missing from where I last saw them.

I then looked far into the distance and I swore I saw a figure riding a horse over a hill away from us. I could barely make out the detail that they had a hat on their head.

'Hmm… One Step Ahead Jones… Who in the world are you? No Dark Guild member addresses themselves like that!' I thought with interest. 'Now I'm hoping we meet again… so I can pay you back for that cheep injury you gave me!' I swore in my head.

As I was thinking of some rather nasty thoughts about the assassin, I noticed a small yellow light coming up over the hill in front of us.

Me and Fea looked at it with curiosity, however it quickly began to get bigger and brighter. It was the sun!

"Hey would you look at that, the suns came up!" I said with a smile as I saw it illuminate the ground in front of us, before it then hit us.

Then I realised something important.

"Ah Fea! You've never seen the real sun before!" I cried with shock, as I looked down at her.

No POV, Fea Lotho:

Fea watched as the sun rose from the distance. She hadn't expected it to rise! She had been sleeping when she was kidnapped, so she didn't know the time.

When the sunlight hit her face, she felt a wonderful feeling that she hadn't felt before.

This… This was what sunlight felt like?

Oh… it was wonderful! She had always wondered what it would feel like, to have the sun on your face! Everything she had imagined in the 14 years of her life could not have prepared her for this.

This was the greatest feeling that she had ever felt! The way the sun danced on her tanned skin, the way it made her feel more alive than ever before.

And then… the way it lights up everything in its sight. The green grassy ground, the small rocks on the grass, the trees, the brown pathed path and the blue sky! Fea had always heard about the sky and the white fluffy clouds that populated it. She almost didn't want to leave and go back home.

"Fea? You ok?" Came the voice of Cade who was carrying her.

Fea looked up at Cade, and suddenly felt another feeling she hadn't felt before.

A different sort of feeling than when the sun hit her. It was a warm fuzzy feeling, and it felt like her heart was being melted.

Cade…

Cade…

Cade…

Fea blushed.

Oh Cade! Those dreamy emerald green eyes that gave the look that they could kill when he saved her from that horrible man mere moments ago! She could stare into them for hours and not get uninterested!

The somewhat long jet black hair that looked like it would belong to a man of sin and evil, but instead it belonged to a boy who saved her! The way it was damp and came down to his eyes just gave her a feeling of joy and warmth!

And his body… The way his hands held her right now gave her a feeling of safety and comfort. She had never felt this safe in her whole life before! She could stay in his arms forever and she would not care! And she remembered that he had quite a bit of muscle a few days back when she was healing him! Oh… she wouldn't mind feeling that again!

Oh, and then there was his personality and magic! He had a heart of gold, but was willing to get serious when it came down to it, and with Ice Magic that could freeze her heart. But she wouldn't mind at all. In fact… she might like it!

Oh and of course his incredibly hot scar on the left side of his face that made him look even more handso-

Wait.

Cade POV:

"Um… Cade?" Fea said to me.

I was quite happy that she had spoken up to me there.

Fea was looking at me rather weirdly for a bit, and it was honestly confusing and awkward to see. I tried telling her that the Seekers were down there and we could go down and get them, but she wasn't listening! She just kept looking at me…

Thankfully, she seemed to snap out of whatever daydream she was in.

"What is it?" I asked back.

"Erm… about the injury on your face…" Fea struggled to say.

"What did it open back up again?" I asked with concern.

Strange, I couldn't feel any blood. I don't think it had opened up. What was the issue?

"You see… this is the first time this has happened… I sealed the injury and closed the wound… but…"

"But what?" I said in bewilderment.

"You have a scar. Right where your birthmark previously was." She said.

Fea then trailed two of her fingers down where my injury was, and I froze when I felt her fingers trace a very small line right where the injury previously was.

"I have… a scar now!?" I shouted in horror.

That's another chapter done! Do leave a review if you liked it.

This morning I woke up and saw that this story of mine had reached 100 followers! I would honestly never have thought that this story that I started back in the beginning of the year would get into the triple digits! Whether you followed this story just to support it, or wether you were genuinely interested in the story of Cadewell, I thank you for choosing to keep reading! Decided to upload a chapter to thank you all.

Now then, in this chapter we got to see Cade and Jones go off against each other. I'll be honest and say that I do find some fight scenes quite tricky to write in a way that makes them seem interesting and also threatening for the character. That being said, I do hope you enjoyed this scuffle between Jones and Cade.

Jones has also left Cade a mark he will never be forgetting now. With the scar on his face, that will be giving Cade an even bigger motive to get revenge on Jones. But will this be fufilled?

Anyway! With Fea saved, now Cade can continue his training! But it seems like Fea has now fallen for Cade…

Find out how he does with THAT in the next few chapters! Hope you all enjoyed this one, and I look forward to seeing you in the next!
