-The Enchanter of Fairy Tail-
Arc 9: S-Class Trials and Tribulations
Chapter 64: The D.G.E.
Year: X759. 25 years till Canon begins.
Cade POV:
It had been only a few weeks since I had become an S-Class wizard at Fairy Tail. Now we had entered into the new year, and I had a feeling that this would be a busy one for me.
First, as an S-Class wizard I have a few responsibilities to adhere to at the guild. These things included meeting up with Master Makarov every few months to see how the guild was doing, making sure everyone in the guild was happy and many other things.
Another thing that I would be learning this year, was many of the important things that I would need to know when inheriting the manor from my mother.
She had agreed to pass the ownership of the home that we had both lived in, to me after my 20th birthday. While I did have a while to go until then, it would help if I tried to learn all of this before it came time for me to claim the building.
Other than that, I would perhaps be taking an S-Class quest soon. Perhaps not for a few weeks, but maybe one next month.
I had decided it get my head down and try to maybe learn a new spell from Malvel's spell book. If I were to be S-Class now, I would have to have a good arsenal of spells at my disposal.
My efforts had rewarded me with a new spell and a diary page. Seems like I could really get some pages down if I wasn't occupied with anything else.

X681, November
It's been a while since I've last logged my time here at Blue Skull. It seems that just when I think that the people here can't get any worse, I always seem to find new ways to despise them. I just went on a Dark Guild "job" yesterday which involved plundering a trading caravan filled with goods. The wizard I went with was a powerful and vicious man who ended up killing the traders and the wizard that they had hired to protect them. I was disgusted by this, yet I knew that if I blew my cover and went against him, then he would have beaten me and turned me in to Geoffrey. I did little to help him with the killing; yet I could do nothing to save the people. Alas…
There must be some way for me to get out of this Dark Guild! It's harder than it sounds. When you're in, you're in for life. The Magic Council seem to not care about this area of Fiore, so they are unlikely to help me. I have tried to convince Velmal to help me with this predicament, yet he seems to not care. He has still been studying away at the copies of the spells I've given him from the spell book I've been reading. My cover is still secure, so I am not afraid – yet I yearn for a better outcome for myself and the people of this town who suffer.
Speaking of which, it seems like I'm running out of room to document all the spells I've been finding in the spell book I found. I'll be documenting some of the more powerful and useful ones from now on.
—
Malvel seemed to hold up to that last part that he wrote, as the spell that came after the diary entry was quite a strong one.
It was called Sacred Slashing, and it involved sending several fast and powerful slashes of magic out towards the opponent.
They could cut through the thickest of stone and even some powerful metals. I had found that even some magical barrier attacks failed to stop them.
During this time I had also gotten my armour repaired and fixed up after the beating it received from Ivan during the S-Class trial. My cape had also been recovered and added back onto my armour. It felt good to have my armour back up and ready for action - It only made me more pumped up as well.
What also surprised me, was that Cornelia and Gildarts had now properly moved in together! When Cornelia was meant to move out of Gildarts house and go back to her place, she decided to stay with Gildarts!
Both of them were very much happy with this arrangement. They were now closer than ever before. I was happy to see that they were doing so well.
Other than that, not much else had been done over these last few weeks except for one thing in particular.
That being to try and see my uncle.
It had been difficult to get access into the branch that he had been running as apparently you can't just drop by and go in there.
It seemed like many guild wizards were not allowed in unless they had proper authorisation. I would have assumed that my rank of S-Class would have been enough to let me in, but alas it was not.
I had entered the town that the Magic Council was located in (that being the town of Era) and upon making it to the building that my uncle now worked at, I was quickly decided entry by some of the guards there.
I did say that I was the nephew of Jack Philipe, but the guards still denied me entry thinking I was lying to get in.
I had spent a few days after that trying to think of a way that I could maybe try and get into the building and see my uncle. It was only a few days later that a genus idea came to me.
I could ask Yajima to get me in.
In the last few weeks, Yajima had been promoted up into a higher rank. Before he was still just a member that was working alongside the other higher ups. Now he was working for a chair position. Unfortunately though, due to his hard work in assisting the council, he had been a bit too busy to come down and assess my progress these last few weeks, but he sent me a notice that he said he was coming round soon.
It was then I realised that I could ask him to let me into the Magic Council building and past those guards. Members of the Magic Council that have a seat basically have full authority over almost everyone that they work with.
Yajima was a kind man, so I was sure that he would let me into the building.
On the following day that he was set to arrive here to assess my progress, I had spent some time thinking about everything that I could tell my uncle about my time here at Fairy Tail.
There was simply so much I could tell him; I may need to book a hotel for the night to continue the next day.
When Yajima eventually did arrive, I allowed him to assess my progress and the usual stuff that he does while he's here. I did tell him that I gained the rank of S-Class, and he was quite happy to see me make it to that stage in the guild.
When he had finished looking over everything that I had done since I had last saw him, I asked him about the chance that he could let me in to see my uncle.
Yajima told me that he would be happy to let me in, as I definitely had a right to go in and see my uncle after so long.
He then told me how difficult things had been for everyone there and that there was a chance that my uncle would be too busy to come and see me.
While I was upset at this possibility, I remained firm at the fact that it was a possibility. I was sure that things would work out!
When he had finished explaining things to me, he said that I could make my way up to Heliot Town in three days time and that he would come with me to let me in.
I was thrilled at Yajima's kindness and accepted his offer with eagerness.
And three days later, I was on the train that could take me up upwards north to Heliot Town. I was by myself and would be meeting Yajima in the town square.
I had asked mother if she wanted to come with me, but she said that she would be staying here as she had some work to do. I was a little upset by that, but I chose not to push her into coming. I did my best to try and not let this bring me down - It was time to visit uncle!
Only a few hours after being on the train, and I saw the sight of Era in the distance.
It was quite largely sized for a town, with a population of a few thousand. There were several well decorated houses that occupied many of the town's areas. Long arched roads came through the town and formed large and well busied paths and roads. While there was no guild in this town, the Magic Council did all the protection that the town needed.
As we came around a corner on the train, I got to see the Magic Council's headquarters in full detail. It was just outside the Era on some rocky hills.
The headquarters were split into two parts that were a good distance up in the air from each other.
The base itself was a hexagonal shaped building, with large windows. As the bottom part of the headquarters rose up, the structure grows drastically larger, extending outwards and taking the shape of a large, round and flat capsized dome. Several meters above the bowl-like structure, were ten slightly curved panels that I believe helped protect the building from any outside threats.
Above the panels and the dome was the final part of the headquarters. Sitting on a round platform, with a simple motif is a palace. It consisted of an octagonal tower topped by a very massive, round dome, which grows larger near its own center. Above this, was a wide, floating halo. To the left and right of the palace was some more buildings that connected to the main palace.
Every time I passed through the town or walked through it, it always felt like I was being watched in some way.
It was rather imposing to think that this is where the all the important magical based decisions are made in Fiore. Still crazy to me that my uncle had been working in there for several years now.
Eventually the train came to a halt just outside the town. I exited and began to take the pathway that led me down to the town square. There Yajima would hopefully take me to see my uncle.
It took me around an hour to make it to the town square. Along the way I passed many people wearing some Magic Council uniforms. Whether they were here for their job, or just trying to get some good food was unknown to me.
When I came to the town square I looked around somewhat at the huge crowds of people to see if I could spot Yajima. As I was doing this, I heard him speak up to me from behind me.
"Good to see you Cade. Glad you could make it here."
I turned and saw the short man standing with his hands behind his back.
"Hey Yajima. I should be the one thanking you for allowing me in here." I said with a smile.
"It's no problem on my part." He replied back. "I'll have some business to attend to when we enter the building, so you'll be left on your own for a while."
"Ah ok. I won't get thrown out will I?" I asked with apprehension.
Yajima shook his head. "No, as long as you don't wander off and see anything you shouldn't be seeing. Besides you should have found your uncle by then."
"Alright then, shall we get going?" I said as I gestured my head towards the Magic Council headquarters.
Yajima nodded and we both then began the walk over to the Magic Council's headquarters. As we walked there, I chose to ask him a question.
"Say Yajima? How much power does the members of Magic Council over the branch that my uncle has been running?"
"Well while I may not have a chair with the others, I know some things. I know that your uncle and the other people that are leading it with him were given quite a bit of freedom about what they wanted to do." Yajima scratched his moustache before continuing.
"I know that the people that have a seat possess the ability to dismiss them if felt necessary. Also they can choose to abolish them if they wish; but that requires eight council members approval. Other than that they are free to transfer some members from the Magic Council over to join them."
"Wow… That quite a bit of power that he has." I spoke with surprise.
"Well the list goes on about the things that he can and can't do. I just gave you some of the main ones. Though you can ask him some more of them when you see him." Yajima said.
We continued our walk that took us outside the town and into the rocky hills. We later came to the huge half-floating building that loomed over us.
The pathway continued forwards to the main doors that led into the bottom half of the building. From there I'm guessing that you could teleport upwards from inside the bottom building.
Yajima and me moved towards the large front door that led into the headquarters. As we came up to it, I saw some guards standing to attention at the doors.
Before when they just saw me approach the building, they were quite dismissive of me. When they saw Yajima walk beside me however, they quickly moved aside to let him in the building. They were about to try and ask me to get lost again, but Yajima came to my aid and told them to let me in.
With that, the guards moved aside and me and Yajima entered the Magic Council's headquarters.
The entrance area of the headquarters was a huge open area, coloured a pristine white over the walls and floors. Several well-crafted pillars were holding up the ceiling of the building. I saw serval men and frogs walking quite quickly in various directions, some of them holding documents.
While I was looking around at everything and everyone that was around me, I felt Yajima move to my right.
"What do you think?" He asked.
"Never thought the place would be this busy. I'm really glad I refused Org's offer way back then." I said with a sigh of relief.
"It's about this busy all the time here. You get used to the bustling atmosphere after a while." Yajima spoke. "Anyway, I think you should be heading to the receptionist over there."
Yajima pointed to a receptionist booth that had a few people moving around behind the windows that separated them from everyone out here. I could see an open window that had some people collecting documents.
"They'll see if your uncle is available right now. I have to get going I'm afraid."
"Oh ok." I began with some surprise. "If I don't see you again here, then I'll see you when you next come around to Magnolia."
Yajima gave me a nod as he then began to walk away from me heading in a direction through a doorway.
Well with him gone I better head and see if I could find my uncle here. The last thing I wanted was to get kicked out of this place.
I made my way up to the reception and one of the ladies working behind there came up to me to see what I wanted. She looked a bit confused when she saw that I didn't have a Magic Council uniform.
"Ah excuse me?" I began. "I'm here to see Jack Philipe."
The women gave me an uninterested look. "Do you have an appointment?" She asked.
"Oh… er, no I don't…" I said with hesitation.
The women sighed. "Well then you can't see him. Only those with an appointment can meet with the important members of the Magic Council."
"Aw come on… Can you not contact him to let him know that I'm here to see him?" I requested kindly.
The women raised an eyebrow at me. "Who are you exactly?"
Perhaps this is how I should have started this line of conversation. "I'm his nephew, Cade Philipe. I haven't seen him for six years and I'm here to visit him." I said with some annoyance.
The women looked a bit shocked at that. "Really…? Didn't know that he had a nephew… Then again I've never seen him before."
The women seemed to think about this for a moment. "Wait here." She said as she turned away from me and moved to open a drawer with serval lacrimas in them.
She then took one of the lacrimas out and spoke into it. I couldn't make out what she was saying, but there were several pauses on her end. Was it my uncle she was talking to?
After a minute of talking, the lacrima was powered down and placed back in the drawer. The lady the came back to me.
"Alright he'll see you." She said with a nod. "Take the pathway to the right and go straight on. After that take the second left and go right immediately. Then you have to take the next two lefts and finish by going straight on." She informed me.
My joy was replaced by confusion. "Could you… write that down please?"
The lady grunted as she then began to scribble the directions on a scrap of paper for me to read. She then handed it to me.
"There. Follow those directions and you'll make it to the office that your uncle works at." She then moved away from me and began to work on filing some paperwork through.
I thanked the lady (though I was not sure if she could hear me) and moved away and began to follow the instructions that she gave me.
As I began to exit the the large entrance hall I was in and follow the directions the lady gave me, I began to get excited at the thought of me finally seeing my uncle again! …I just had to navigate through here first.
As I took a left turn, I began to get eager to tell him everything that I had done since I last saw him. He didn't know things like I was S-Class, the fact that I had became so strong, and so many other things!
I saw that the walls had now changed to a dark grey colour as I passed through a corridor. Eventually at the end of that corridor I came to a set of double doors that were closed.
This was it.
The directions had led me to this door that looked rather out of the way of everything else here in the Magic Council.
I could hear no noise coming from behind the doors when I put my ear to them. There were no windows on them, so I couldn't look through them.
I turned the door handle and found that the door was unlocked. So I just walked into the office.
I mean I was expected right?
The office that I had just walked into was a rather spacious and large one. There was a dark red carpet that covered the whole floor, that felt nice to walk on. Across from me was a wooden desk that had some paperwork on it, along with some chairs that were facing it. To the far right of the room was some filing cabinets that were placed against the walls. To the left I saw another door that somewhere else.
I walked a bit more into the room and closed the doors behind me. I saw that one the grey stone walls of the room, there were some nice paintings that decorated the rather dull walls.
As I was looking at one of them, I heard the door from behind me open and someone walk out of the connecting room. I immediately heard a serious and gruffly voice from behind me.
"Who are you? Who let you in here?" Came the demanding voice of a man.
I smiled upon recognising the voice of the man. Even though it had been years, I still remembered his voice as if it were yesterday.
"What you don't recognise me?" I said in amusement.
"Turn around! I can't see your face!" The man demanded to me again.
I gave a soft chuckle as I turned around to face the man.
Standing before me was a man well in his 60's. He had a white Magic Council uniform with some gold braiding at the edges of his clothing. His hair was all jelled back and I could see some greys among them.
My uncle Jack. He was right there.
Upon seeing me, my uncle's face was striken with shock. His eyes widened and his previous stern look was replaced by one with disbelief.
He gave a soft voice when he spoke up to me. "C-Cade? Is that… really you?"
I smiled with deep happiness. "It is uncle."
"I-It's been so long… I-I-" Uncle smiled with some tears in the corner of his eyes.
I couldn't contain my excitement and joy any more. "Uncle!" I shouted with happiness as I ran to him and hugged him.
Uncle immediately hugged me back as I embraced him. "Cade! I-It's so good to see you again!" He cried as he hugged me.
"It's been so long!" I exclaimed with joy. "You won't believe everything that's happened to me since I've last seen you!"
Uncle broke the hug to look at me in better detail. "You've aged up so much!" He said with pride as he put his hands on my shoulders. "Yet I still recognised that face of yours!"
I swore I spotted that his eyes noticed my scar that was on my cheek, but if he did notice it, he did not speak up about it. Uncle seemed to struggle to get his next few words out. "How on earth did you find me here?" He said with a half-laugh.
I gave an awkward chuckle. "Heh… it's a long story – well maybe not long but you'd need some context for everything that happened before." I explained with a smile.
Uncle ruffled my hair. "I've got plenty of time. How about you take a seat and tell me everything that you've been up to?" He suggested.
"That sounds great!" I smiled as uncle moved to sit behind his desk and I sat on one of the chairs that were facing him.
I had better get comfortable. I had a lot to explain.
It took around two hours to explain everything that had happened to me since I had last seen uncle. I started with what I had been doing in Fairy Tail and that I had been learning the rather powerful Enchantment Magic. I went onto explain all the different friends I had made while there, and many of the jobs I had been on. When it came to eventually talk about the S-Class trials, I said that I had been selected for S-Class and had succeeded in the trial. Uncle looked overjoyed to hear that from me. Eventually I finished my story saying I saw him in a newspaper and that I had to come here and see him.
"And here we are." I said as I raised my hands slightly and brought them down to my lap. "That's all that I've been up to."
"You've had an exciting six years. As well as some dangerous moments here and there." He spoke as he looked to my cheek where my scar was.
"Uh yeah… I got this in an accident with a wizard I was fighting on a job. I'm fine now of course." I had made sure to void the mention of Lavender Village and everything and everyone that I came across while staying there. I had forgotten that I would be voiding the detail of my scar.
Uncle sighed. "Well it doesn't seem like you've lost any arms or legs. That's what important I suppose. Besides, I'm sure that scar will make you quite popular with the ladies." He gave me a wink.
Oh right. I forgot to say that I had a girlfriend now. I had been so caught up with my tales in the guild.
I was going to mention that to him, but he spoke up before I could answer him. "Anyway… How do I say this next part…" He struggled to speak to me.
"Erm… How do… I mean-" I had a guess of what uncle wanted to say to me now that I was here, so I decided to help him.
"If it's about my father… then I already know what happened to him." I spoke with some sadness. Uncle looked surprised to hear me say that. "Mother and Master Makarov told me everything that happened to him on that job, as well as what you've been up to these last few years."
Uncle folded his arms. "I see… Well, I won't doubt their decision to tell you then. And I guess it means that I don't have to tell you the whole story again." He shifted a bit in his seat when he said that.
"Yeah… So how's it been since you've came here and started working on all this?" I asked with interest.
Uncle looked a bit more relaxed as he looked around the room we were in. "Oh, that's a long story." He said with a whistle afterwards.
"I've got plenty of time." I said as I lay back in my seat a bit.
Uncle gave a thin smile. "Well I'll make sure to not leave anything out then. Anyway, I suppose it all began back on the day of your 10th birthday. I remember that you ran up to your bedroom after you heard the news firsthand, so you won't remember what occurred downstairs."
"After you ran up, the Commander that came back with the information explained everything to Master Makarov privately in the library. After that he said that he was going to set up a separate branch of the Magic Council to combat the Demons that killed your father. It was when he said that, and was about to head back out of Magnolia, that I realised something."
"This man – despite his high position, would most likely struggle due to the funding that would be needed for this task. I doubt the Magic Council would be so generous with their funds. He would need a vast fortune to help build and acquire everything that would be needed. I had no idea whether he had that money or not, but I saw this as a chance. A chance to make sure that this division would be a thriving success."
"I approached the man as he was walking out from Magnolia. It was then I asked for him to accept my help.
No POV:
6 Years Ago:
"What? You want to help me with this?" Commander Hugo said with astonishment.
"Yes. You will need quite a lot of money for this project of yours. While you may get the approval to get it off the ground, you will need the money to make it happen. I can provide you with that." Jack said firmly.
Hugo grimaced a bit. "I can't let you do that."
"Why?" Jack asked with irritation.
"You have a family back up there!" Hugo pointed to the dimly lit manor in the distance. "I can't have you come with me on this journey that may not even be a success, while you have a nephew that needs your help!"
Jack clenched his fist. "Yeah, I know that. I'll stay here a few days to make sure that Cade is alright before I head out with you."
"I haven't agreed on anything!" Hugo shouted. "Listen! Do you have any idea how long this task will be? You can't just leave whenever you want to after helping with this. You'd be helping me for the next few years – and the Magic Council are the worst to deal with."
"To hell with the Magic Council!" Jack shouted. "My brother and your men were killed on that job, and I want to help you take the fight to them! Let me help you!" He pleaded.
Hugo looked to the ground for a moment, before looking back up at Jack. It seemed like there was really no arguing with the man. He had made up his mind when he realised what happened to his brother.
"This will be draining you dry. I hope you realise that." He warned.
"I realised that the moment I wanted to help you." Jack grinned at his help being accepted.
Hugo crossed his arms. "Alright then. I'll be heading back to Era to plead to the Magic Council about this. If they give me the approval of this then I'll come and find you. Where will you be?"
"I'll be here in Magnolia. I'll be staying at a hotel for a few days to check up on Cade." Jack informed. "You can find me at the northern part of the town. 28 Cherry View Avenue.
Jack turned away to leave, but Hugo spoke out to him. "One more thing. The events that night that led up to how your brother died…"
Jack turned back around in shock at that. Hugo then opened his mouth to explain the story of what happened that terrible night.
Cade POV:
"So that's how it happened…" I trailed off in understanding.
Uncle nodded. "Yes. Around a week later, Hugo returned and told me that he had been successful in convincing the Magic Council about the construction of this branch. I did come back to Magnolia around a month after that to tell you and your mother, but you seemed to be unconscious as you had just awoke your magic."
"Ah yes! Mother told me about that." I nodded. "And I'm guessing you've been here ever since?"
"That's right. Six years I've been here trying to build up this branch. It's been a long and tough journey to get where I am. I've faced several trials and tribulations trying to set this up. But I have not been alone in my fight."
"Hmm? What do you mean?"
"I've had two good allies in my uphill struggle here. One of them is the now former Commander Hugo. The other is a man that was assigned here by the main members of the Magic Council. The three of us have been building this branch up."
"Hang on. I thought that you were the sole person leading this branch? The news article said that you were."
Uncle rolled his eyes. "That article was heavily misleading. The press are another problem that we have faced in our fight here, yet we seem to manage to get through. But that is another long and much more boring story." He waved his hand to remove that question from my thoughts.
"So it's been you and two others then? Where are they right now?" I wondered as I looked around the room. "Also is this just your office?"
"Oh, this is my office alright. The others have offices for themselves. As for where they are right now, Hugo and Milo are currently having a meeting with the members of the Magic Council. They won't be back for several hours." Uncle explained.
"Still, Hugo has it rough. He has a son a few years younger than you to raise. That alongside this job is quite a struggle for him." Uncle Jack said with a frown.
"Damn… He must be working hard to support him and here." I found it impressive that the man was able to do so much. Balancing those two things must be difficult.
"Say uncle? That newspaper article that was published didn't say the name of this division that you and the others have been running. How come?" I questioned.
"Ah, well that is because that we have yet to come up with a proper name that we can announce to the world. We have a few going around right now." He explained, clasping his hands together.
"What are some of them?" I asked with interest.
"Well the most popular one is the D.G.E. It stands for Dark Guild Extermination." Uncle answered.
I gave a light whistle at that. "Well that's a very powerful name. I actually quite like it." I stated with approval.
"Yes most here people do. I've decided to ask the members of the people that are working for this branch to hold a vote of which name they like. Good way to keep everyone feeling like this is a real team effort." Uncle explained.
"That reminds me. How many people are working for your division here? It's not just you and those two other people right?"
Uncle gave a small chuckle before answering. "No there is quite more than the three of us. You see when this branch was first approved by the Magic Council, they allowed us to transfer some of the Rune Knights that work for them over to us. So that we could have some decent manpower to begin with."
"Currently there is me, Hugo, Milo and 50 Rune Knights. We can only gain more members by advertisement in the media. I only hope that Sorcerer Weekly is willing to make some effort to mention us." Uncle sighed after saying that.
"Wow, that many Rune Knights? I think that's around the amount of people than we have in Fairy Tail right now…" I put my fingers on my chin thinking about that.
As S-Class, I actually have a good number of the amount of people that are in our guild. We normally come in at around the 50-60 mark when it comes to guild members.
"Well here's hoping that both our areas are able to grow at a quick speed." Uncle said with a small smile and a nod.
There was a moment of silence before he spoke up to me again. "You know, something that you said earlier has left me a little confused." He began. "You said that you became S-Class… but then I realised something."
Uncle leaned forward in his seat. "You never told me what your alias is!"
I was a bit confused by this. "Sorry what?"
Uncle was a little surprised. "You know, the nicknames that you guild wizards often go by. You can sometimes get recommendations from Sorcerer Weekly to mention you in their latest magazine. I've seen them all over the magazines."
"Oh! You mean those nicknames!" I caught on to what uncle was talking about. "Oh, yeah, well I don't exactly have one." I shrugged at that.
"What?!" Uncle was flabbergasted by this. "How can you not have one? You said that you are S-Class. That should mean that you have one by default!" He argued.
"Well I've never put that much thought into it really." I said as I scratched my head. "Don't these things normally come around because of the fact that your name gets brought up by people that you work for? If so then it explains why I don't have one; I'm used to running away to avoid property damage."
Uncle gave a dull look. "Oh yes. I've always heard of how many guild wizards tend to run to avoid the consequences of property damage." He rolled his eyes before continuing.
"Well I don't blame you for THAT. But still, an alias can really help promote a guild. You should think about it." He suggested to me.
"I'll… think about it." I spoke as I shifted my eyes to look at the floor, before back up to my uncle.
"Hey, I… have a serious question here. Do you think you'll ever be able to take down Tartaros?"
Uncle crossed his arms and gave a grim look. "I don't know. Right now there is no way that we can take them on and win. Hell, we don't even know where they are." He spoke with a grimace.
"I am filled with the need to not only exact my revenge, but also to make sure that guild can't hurt anyone else. I will keep fighting until the deed has been done." He said with determination.
I nodded at that. "If you did know where they were, what would you do?"
"If I knew where those Demons were hiding, I would request that the Magic Council take immediate action against them: An immediate Etherion strike on their guildhall." He said with seriousness.
"An… Etherion strike? I've heard of it, but what is it exactly?" I asked. I never really poked around at the things the Magic Council could do.
"It is essentially a huge cannon that the Magic Council have access to. Made up of several destructive magics, it is able to destroy and annihilate entire armies and even many cities. I've heard that it's the most powerful weapon the Magic Council have." Uncle stated.
"THAT'S what it is?! I always thought that it was some other sort of weapon." I exclaimed with small surprise.
"I believe eight out of ten members of the main Magic Council must agree to fire the cannon during one of their meetings that they often hold. Still, currently Tartaros have been quiet enough to where many of the Magic Council members have been ignoring them somewhat. I doubt they would all agree to fire the cannon if they had the location." Uncle muttered.
"I see…"
There was a moment of silence between us before uncle I saw uncle glance up at the clock that was in the room. He gave a murmur of surprise before he then spoke up to me.
"I'm sorry Cade but I have a meeting coming up with some members of the Magic Council. I'll have to be cutting this reunion short I'm afraid." He spoke with a frown.
"Ah it's fine." I gave a small smile as I stood up from my seat. "It was worth coming all this way to see you."
"I am sorry again about not being able to come and see you any earlier." Uncle apologised as he too stood up. "I'll try and see if I can make time in the future to come by and visit you and your mother."
"I appreciate that, but it's ok if you can't due to work. I know how it feels to be overwhelmed to some extent."
As I moved to open the door to take me out of this room, uncle came and opened it for me. "I'll walk with you on the way out. We'll be going in the same direction anyway."
We then walked out of the room and the many corridors that it took me to get here. A few minutes later, and we had came to the main reception hall.
As we came into there, uncle offered me a small paper card. I took a look at it and uncle spoke up about it.
"That card there will make sure that you don't have to go through any delays and hold ups with the guards outside the main building. You'll be able to get in immediately."
"Woah, really?" I said with surprise. "Oh that's great! Had a few issues coming in here last time with the guards." I spoke with irritation at the memory.
I then put the card in my Requip Storage so that it wouldn't get destroyed or lost. "Man, thanks for that. Should make things easier for the future."
Uncle smiled. "Yes, I figured you might need it if you ever wanted to come by and see me again. The guards can be quite strict."
I gave a sigh at that before uncle continued. "Anyway, I have to get going now. It's been a pleasure to see you again Cade!"
"Yeah it's been great to see you as well uncle!" I smiled fondly.
Uncle held out a hand for me to shake and I made sure to shake it. "You keep doing the best that you can here! I'll be rooting for you back in Magnolia!" I grinned.
Uncle gave a laugh. "Oh I don't plan on slowing down anytime soon. By the time we see each other again, we'll have double the manpower here!"
The handshake then broke and uncle smiled at me as he moved away into the crowds of people moving around the reception hall.
As he left, I was reminded of a thought that had came to my mind earlier when we were talking.
'An alias eh…?'
There's another chapter done and finished! Feel free to leave a review of your thoughts if you wish.
Finally! We got to see Uncle Jack again after a good 55 chapters or so! Feels good to be showing what he has been up to since we last saw him way back then.
Not that much else to say for this chapter. I enjoyed writing it, and I am looking forward to writing the next few!
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this chapter, and I will see you in the next one!
