Chapter 70: The Enchanter VS The Author

Year: X759. 25 years till Canon begins.

Cade POV:

'To think I'd be fighting against a collection of magics. Perhaps what's worse is the man that's using them.' I gritted my teeth as I thought that.

'Christopher was focusing on writing a book about the many different kinds of magics in the world. That means that he's probably got a huge stock of papers in his Requip storage.' I thought with a bit of annoyance and trepidation.

'Still, while his magic is powerful on the surface, a few issues come to mind about it.'

"That magic of yours is powerful indeed." I admitted, making Christopher smirk. "But I've noticed a few things that limit it somewhat."

Christopher raised an eyebrow and gave me a snarky grunt. "Oh really? Feel free to inform me of its many issues."

"For one, there's the fact that all the magics you've used so far are caster types of magic." I stated first. "You haven't used any items while you've been fighting me, so I'm assuming that you can't use holder magic at all - At least not unless you have the item."

"Also I've noticed that you have to hold and clench a sheet of paper for you to use the spell that you wish. If your hands are already occupied with something else then you can't learn and use the spell." I pointed out with a smug look. That was a bit of a big weakness. But there was one more weakness that I figured.

"The final thing that I noticed is that you seem to have a limited amount of time when you learn the spell to use it." I spoke, recalling previous events. "Earlier when you tried to use that sand wall to block my attack it turned to dust, and you said that you were out of time."

Christopher let out a small huff of annoyance. "Does it really matter if I only have a few seconds? I need only a few mere minutes to beat you. I have more than enough scraps of paper in my Requip storage to deal with you."

"And there is one more thing that makes my Knowledge Intake Magic as fierce as it is." Christopher proclaimed.

"And that is?" I questioned with some mild curiosity.

"I've found no limit as to the different types of magic that can be used with it! As long as I have a scrap of paper that has a form of writing on it then I can gain the knowledge of the spell whenever I wish!"

Christopher removed his glasses from his face and put them into his Requip storage. He then gave me a cold sneer.

"I've been a writer for many years now, and I've came across a vast range of different types of magic. Ever since I started to write my book on the many different types of magics across the world, I've been amassing a comprehensive collection for me to use if the time came."

"Why would you only start collecting magic when you started to write that book a few years back?" I questioned sun, as Christopher froze. "If I had the magic at such a young age I'd be hoarding magic pages every time I found them. That's a flaw on your part… unless you've only recently learned the magic?" I wondered with an interested look.

"Enough!" Christopher yelled, putting that line of thinking aside. "I've wasted enough time talking with you here. It doesn't matter if you have figured some weaknesses of this magic. You won't survive long enough to use them!"

Christopher pulled out a sheet of paper at lighting speed and crushed it in his hand.

"Plasma Blasts!" He shouted as he fired off electrical purple and blue burst of energy off towards me. They radiated with powerful electricity, as I prepared myself to strike back.

I tightened my gaze as I ran forwards towards where Christopher was standing, dodging all the blasts of energy as they were sent towards me. I quickly charged up an attack to blast him backwards.

"Stone Slicer!" I cried, sending slices of stone towards where Christopher was. Christopher pulled out another scrap of paper to counter my move here. Still, despite that I kept running forwards to where he stood.

"Solid Script Magic: Dust!" Christopher yelled as he turned my stone into dust before it could reach him.

I was momentarily stunned by this, as Christopher had already prepared another attack. "Lightning-Make: Arrows!" He cried as he slammed his palm with his fist, summoning arrows that rained down from the sky.

"Disappear!" I frantically cried as I countered the arrows with a large explosion that destroyed them and a caused an explosion of dust in the air. The dust cloud was left behind me as I kept up my fast pace. Now I had made it to Christopher!

I acted fast, raising a leg to kick him in the stomach. Right before my leg could connect with his stomach, Christopher pulled out another scrap of paper, which he quickly destroyed to gain a new spell.

"Forced Territory Movement!" Christopher cried with anger as I was suddenly sent flying backwards against my will. Christopher kept up his momentum and summoned another page that he clenched to cast a different spell.

"Dust Tornado!" Christopher began to use the large amount of dust that was in the room to his advantage, by having it come together and swirl up into a tornado that began to ravage through the room. It was destroying all sorts of small objects as it grew larger and larger.

Christopher sent the tornado hurling towards me, and I casted a spell to hopefully destroy it. "Stone Buster!" I casted the close-range attack and had it make contact with the tornado.

The tornado was completely shredded by my attack, allowing to cast another spell at Christopher. "Scared Slashing!" I called as I fired off enchanted slashes towards my opponent. "I won't let you win this!"

Christopher gave a grimace of irritation as he summoned another page which he quickly clenched to counter my attack.

Or rather to avoid it altogether. 'He's gone!' I thought with fear as Christopher immediately vanished from sight. 'Where'd he go?!'

I just spotted Christopher reappear right in the corner of my eye, just out of sight. I was just able to spot him crushing a piece of paper. "Ivy Tentacles!" He shouted with a single laugh.

This attack of his summoned several tentacles that burst out of the ground, made out of ivy that were then sent towards me with the intent to coil around me and constrict me. I only had mere moments to destroy or dodge them.

'Christopher has been all around Fiore, so he knows the best way to counter magic like stone and ice. But he's never had to fight an Enchantment wizard before.' I thought with a smirk.

As the tentacles got closer to me, I casted Henshin and turned them to stone, thus having Christopher lose control over them. The tentacles crumbled as Christopher lost control of them, leaving him flabbergasted. "What!? How?!"

Christopher was left completely distracted, as I was quick to attack him before he could summon another piece of paper to attack me back. "Stone Wave!"

Christopher took my wave attack head on, being unable to counter or dodge it in time, with it striking him at his side. The two-faced author was sent flying backwards somewhat due to the impact. Now that he was distracted like that, I felt it was the perfect time to attack him.

"Go, Delirium's Blades!" I shouted as I summoned the blades and fired them towards Christopher as he was still being caught up with my previous attack.

'I have to overwhelm Christopher by sending attacks to him, one after the other. If I give him time to summon pages from his hands then he'll have a chance to counterattack me.' I thought with determination, as I saw that my blades had struck Christopher and had sent him skidding across the floor. He yelled out in pain as this happened, as his clothing was torn quite a bit.

"Scared Slashing!" I cried as I fired off the slashes of magic to further increase my damage. I just needed more attacks like this. If I could just keep this up for a few more minutes…!

As my mighty slashes were fired towards Christopher, he was able to frantically pull a piece of paper out of his inside pocket and quickly grasp it.

"Now, Reflect!" Christopher said with haste as he cried out the spell, his face laced with worry.

As my attacks moved to hit him, they seemed to hit some sort of invisible shield that was around his body. My slashes were absorbed and dealt no damage to him. My sudden thought of momentum came to a unfortunate halt as I saw this happen.

'Was that some sort of emergency page that he had in case of an emergency? He had it in his pocket instead of his Requip storage.' I thought with sudden concern. 'It seemed to make it so that my attacks just got absorbed into that shield of his.'

'I best be careful. Who knows how many other emergency spells that he has.' I decided as I saw that Christopher had regained his footing and had immediately clenched another spell page – whether it was from his pocket I couldn't tell. Seriously, how fast was he at this?

"Light Resolution!" Christopher cried as he summoned beams of light that appeared above him almost forcing me to cover my eyes with how bright they were. The brilliant beams were shot downwards to strike me in the chest.

'Soft! Soar!' I internally casted the spells as I leapt backwards to dodge the incoming light attacks. I had witnessed just how powerful Light Magic could be by watching Master Makarov, so I wasn't going to take any chances here and try to overpower it.

As I leapt backwards and dodged the attacks as they crashed into the already damaged floorboards, I felt a cold metal object wrap around my foot. I immediately looked down and saw a magic chain rapped around my foot and moving up my leg.

As my eyes followed the chain, I saw that Christopher had summoned some from his hands to try and ensnare me. He swung the chains upwards and that caused me to fly up into the roof of the mansion. "Gah! Chain Magic as well…?!" I grimaced at the rare magic, as I prepared to brace for impact. I was moving too fast to make some more of move to escape!

I hit the ceiling with a yell of pain being let out from me. I had hit some of the thick and heavy metal and wooden rafters, just above a grand chandelier. As the chains turned into dust to the time limit for the spell being up. I acted and fired a spell downwards to Christopher as fast as I could.

"Five-Layered Stoneflake!" I shouted, still up at the top of the ceiling as I fired off sharp shards of stone that aimed to strike Christopher head on.

Christopher yelled with a rage filled tone as he used another page to make some sort of blue shield to counter my attacks. "Energy Shield!" Christopher was able to block all my attacks with them cancelling out that shield of his. It seemed like my attacks had just barley been blocked by that shield based on the grimace Christopher showed.

With my upwards momentum gone, as well as the chains that first propelled me up here, I began to fall back down to the ground. I ended up hitting the grand chandelier that was just below me, with a clattering sound being let out as I crashed onto it. Surprisingly, it didn't break off it's hinges.

"Enjoy this! Doll Attack: Chandelier Ensnare!" Christopher shouted with a malicious tone as he held out his hands toward the chandelier, magic being casted out from his fingers.

Suddenly, the chandelier I was on began to retort and re-shape itself. It began to curve inwards, with the metal wrapping around me and locking my feet and hands. I saw that a face of sorts had formed on the parts of the metal. The face leered at me as more of my body began to become ensnared by the chandelier.

It was when one strap of metal locked around my neck that I became fearful of the next few seconds.

As I felt the metal tightening around my neck, I began to squirm and try and get out of this situation. I frantically darted my eyes to try and find something that could help me here, I saw the crank that held up the chandelier just across from me on the second floor.

I was just able to move a finger and shoot a small beam of magic to destroy the crank and send the entire chandelier crashing to the ground with me still trapped on it.

As it hit the ground with a loud crashing sound of wood and metal, I was able to break free and take several deep breaths of relief. Christopher had to jump back a little to avoid the chandelier falling on him. The man seemed furious at my persistence to keep fighting and not give up. "Would you just lay down and die already!?"

"I won't! Not as long as I'm a member of Fairy Tail, and not as long as defeating you means saving the people here!" I shouted as I clenched a fist.

"Stone Spikes!" I cried with rage equaled to what Christopher showed as I began to create several spikes of stone that came shooting up from the ground towards Christopher.

Christopher quickly crushed another piece of paper in his hands as he moved to destroy my spikes as they were coming to him. "Acid wave!" He shouted as he summoned some murky green liquid-acid that melted right through my stones with little effort.

As this happened, I leapt towards Christopher with the intent to land a good hit on his face. "Stone Fist!" I cried as I had covered my right hand with stone as I aimed for Christopher's face.

Right when I was about to hit him, he grinned menacingly, quickly scrunching up a page of paper to counter my fist. "Mirror Magic!" Christopher called as he summoned a shiny hexagonal mirror that summoned an exact replica of my fist that clashed with my own.

I grunted as this happened, being pushed back a little from the clash of stone, and I heard Christopher cry out another spell. "Now, Clone Magic!"

Right as the mirror and my duplicate fist faded, Christopher suddenly split into three identical copies of himself! Each with differing facial expressions which was a bit weird. Despite these differences between them, they all looked ready to fight me.

'Great… Now I have to deal with four versions of the guy.' I thought as I gritted my teeth, preparing myself for what came next. Nothing could have prepared for me for what happened next though.

The three clones of Christopher then each pulled out a page from their shared Requip storage and destroyed them in their hands.

'Oh, that's BAD.' I thought with sudden fear. I should have seen a move like that coming.

"Liquid Ground!" One of the clones shouted as he suddenly turned the ground beneath me into some thick liquid that I was quickly being sucked into. The clone disappeared as he casted the spell there.

I tried to jump out with my increased mobility, but the thick liquid was too heavy for me to jump out of. 'Dammit! I'm stuck!' I thought with anger, as I saw that the second clone was beginning to fire their spell. 'I gotta brace through this next attack!'

"Airspace: Zetsu!" This attack from the clone fired several invisible blasts at me that hurt quite a lot. They crashed across my body, face, everywhere that wasn't caught in the ground.

"GAHHHH!" I yelled out loud, the real Christopher taking delight in what he saw there. As I was still stuck in the liquid ground, I couldn't dodge any of those airspace attacks. My body was hit with power strong enough to send me flying back across the room, but the fact that I was stuck in the ground made the feeling all that worse.

What was even worse than that was that the third clone was also preparing his attack, right after the second clone disappeared as well.

"Shadow Outrage!" The third clone shouted as he fired several punches of shadow that hit me around my face and body.

I let out a cry of anguish as I was flailed about, unable to move. "D-DAMMIT!" The third clone then turned to dust, with his time being up, and the real Christopher sent out an attack. Right as he did though, I felt myself become a bit more loose and free, as a result of the Liquid Ground spell wearing off. I had to dodge or block this next attack!

"Blast Magic: Explosion!" Christopher cited with a loud volume, as he charged up a powerful purple blast of magic aimed right at my face. I had just escaped from the ground as I saw Christopher just cast the spell.

With myself now free, I hurried to cast a spell that would protect me from whatever spell Christopher had charged up. I couldn't let this attack hit me.

"Stone Wall!" I acted as fast as I could, as I summoned a thick stone wall that was meant to take the brunt of the attack that Christopher had powered up.

Christopher sent the spell which was shaped as an orange and brown sphere towards my wall. Upon making contact, it caused a huge explosion that sent me flying back despite my wall protecting me. Thankfully, I had taken no damage. Still, I couldn't waste time being flown backwards!

"Sacred Slashing!" I cried as I once again sent slashes of magic towards Christopher. As I sent out my attack, I dug my feet into what little floorboards there were left, as I came to a stop. Now looking ahead, Christopher rolled out of the way to dodge my beams. As he avoided them, I just caught a glance of him opening up his right hand.

Predicting what his next move would be, I summoned another attack that was meant to disrupt his next move. "Stone Beams!"

As I fired off three beams of stone, with them firing towards where Christopher had rolled, I was correct in seeing him about to clench a sheet of paper. With my incoming attack however, he was forced to toss it aside and dart out of the way. He cursed under his breath as he lost the spell page, having came to a stop just now. It must have been a good one.

"Stone Bullets!" I shouted as fast as I could, sending several dozens of stone bullets towards Christopher. I had to keep up the pressure on him!

Changing tact somewhat, Christopher picked up a large chair that was next to him and threw it towards my bullets, to stop them from hitting him. The bullets crashed into the chair as Christopher rolled out of the way. He then picked up a long knife that was previously acting as a decorative piece on the wall and threw it towards me at lightning speed!

I was able to blast it out of the air with a spell of mine and ended up destroying it. Christopher had taken that small moment to clench a new page, this time successfully achieving it.

"Now! Dark Moment!" Christopher cried as all the light in the room was suddenly extinguished, making it to where I could barely see my own fingers.

'Dammit! I can't see anything here.' I thought as I tried to see and make out everything in the room. No matter how hard I looked, I couldn't see anything!

'Time to put my training at Lavender Village to good use!' I thought as I listened carefully, moving forwards a little, so Christopher wouldn't just attack where previously was.

It was when I moved forwards a bit, that I just made out the sounds of a spell be cast. 'There!'

"Earth Eruption!"

'It's behind me!' I realised suddenly, as I was just able to hear the sound of an attack being casted. I was able to leap out of the way of an attack that made an enormous crashing sound with the ground beneath me.

Light then returned to the room and I saw Christopher looking shocked that I was in the air not far above him.

"Gotcha!" I grinned at seeing how close Christopher was to me. "That distance is perfect! Stone Buster!" I shouted with determination as I sent my close-range attack towards Christopher. He was in disbelief that he had left himself open so much.

Christopher tried to use a spell page to block or avoid my attack. But he was a few seconds too short as my attack made contact with his chest and sent him crashing backwards into the wall behind him. The wall was dented heavily from the impact, as heaps of dust from above fell downwards and onto Christopher's clothing.

As Christopher made contact with the wall, he fell to the ground and looked up at me with a face of pure rage and anger at my efforts against him. "You little brat! Why haven't you stayed down yet!? You're all that's left to stop me from burying the past for good!"

Christopher gritted his teeth and leapt back up on his feet while also pulling another slip of paper from inside his blazer's pocket. "See how you like this!"

Right as he clenched it, I fired off a spell to try and stop him from casting the spell that he had just learned. It seemed like we casted our spells at the same time as each other.

"Darkness Ray!" Christopher shouted with rage.

"Stone Pillars!" I cried with determination.

I had sent the Stone Pillars so that came out of the ground to shoot towards Christopher. He meanwhile, had just casted an attack that was a mixture of black and purple, and it was in the shape of a beam. It was fast and felt deadly, so I felt cautious about the power it possessed.

I was stunned to see that my pillars were wiped out by the attack that Christopher had sent to me. That attack in question was still flying towards me. I was able to just leap out of the way, with the attack just scraping across my leg, causing me to wince in pain.

Angered by this, when I reached the ground I sprinted toward Christopher who had moved away from the wall. As I got closer to him, he tried to use another spell page to gain a new spell, but before he could I fired a beam of magic that disintegrated the spell page in less than a second. "STONE BEAM!"

Christopher was aghast to see this happen to him. He didn't get much time to think about what to do next, as I had reached him and had landed a good punch on his stomach with my now-casted: "Stone Fist!"

Christopher let out a cough of pain as his eyes went wide due to the impact. He staggered backwards a few feet as he pulled out another spell page and chose to land a punch on my gut with it. "You damn brat! Aqua Fist!" He shouted, covering his fist with water. His words were filled with hate at my determination to keep fighting on.

"Stay down! Stone Beam!" I cried as fired off a single beam that hit Christopher at the side of his face. His face was pulled backwards from the impact as he still remained standing. This had sent him off balance enough so that his Aqua Fist had been cancelled out.

"To think that you call yourself an Enchantment Wizard when all you do is cast nothing but mere rocks!" Christopher yelled with malice, as he destroyed another page. "Boxers Fury!" Christopher bellowed as he struck my face with a powerful punch that was coaxed in a powerful yellowish red energy. I felt pain soar through my face AND body as that attack hit me.

'Goddamn that hurt! I'd hate to meet the wizard that he learned that magic from!' I groaned with pain as I moved to land another punch on Christopher.

"I won't let a criminal like you mock my magic!" I yelled as I charged up my fist.

Right as my fist was about to hit his cheek, Christopher used another page to turn his fist into some hard metal that he used to swiftly punch me in the face as well.

"Iron Fist!" Christopher cried as his fist struck my jaw.

"Stone Fist!" I yelled as my fist struck Christopher across the cheek.

We were both sent backwards a fair distance due to our punches there. I was able to slow myself down as I used my gloved hand to grab the floor. There was almost nothing off the floor left. It had almost all been destroyed.

Christopher on the other hand was sent across the floor on his back. His clean lightly coloured outfit was now scuffled and torn. Bits of dust and scraps of wood were found all over his blazer. His trousers were marked and dirty, as were his shoes.

As Christopher began to slow down across the floor, I saw his hand grasp a dirty and almost ruined piece of paper that was on the floor of the main hall. Was this one that was previously inside his blazer pocket perhaps?

When he stoped moving across the floor completely, he looked up at me as he gave me a grimace as he clenched that scrap of paper tightly within his hand. "I have no choice… I'll be forced to use more extreme spells against you…" He muttered. "But I'll have to take this outside if you don't mind!"

He then let out a cry as he fired off a spell at the roof of the main hall. "Demolition Magic: Roof Collapse!" Christopher practically screamed these words out as my gaze flicked upwards.

Suddenly the roof of the main hall began to break apart, as bits of the wood and plaster that made up the ceiling began to fall down. The whole room was groaning and creaking as the roof broke into pieces with daylight beginning to seap into the room.

'No way! Christopher's bringing the whole roof down on us!'

I looked forwards and saw that Christopher had just clenched another page and had turned himself into some hard metal. Seems like that's how he was planing to survive this move of his. He was going to endure it! But what did he mean about trying to take this outside? And more extreme spells? Oh never mind that, I had to try and survive this!

As the entire roof of the house came down on us both, Christopher had simply remained standing with a smirk, while I was planning for a way to dodge or outright destroy the incoming debris. Thankfully I had just the spell.

"Disappear!" I yelled as I pointed my hand upwards and destroyed all the debris that was falling down on me.

This, thankfully worked, and I was able to avoid all the debris burying me. When the dust cleared from the sudden collapse of the roof, I could see the damage that had been done.

The main hall of the mansion was now even more ruined that it already was when I first entered here. Now the room was covered and littered with scrap pieces of wood, tiles and plaster. All the furniture and paintings that were previously in the room, were either now just sticking out or buried completely.

With the roof destroyed, bright sunlight now shined down on me and everything else that was previously covered up. Small bits of dust were still floating around the room.

Christopher was just across from me with his arms crossed and his skin beginning to turn back to normal. He gave a scowl at seeing me still standing.

"You have no idea just how infuriating it is to see you still standing. Have you not learned your limits yet?" He questioned.

"You're one to talk. How can you still be fighting? Just give it up already!" I shouted with annoyance Christopher's persistence.

Christopher gave a tsk. "With how much I have on the line here, I can't afford to just give up."

"This little scuffle of ours will have most likely attracted some attention from the nearby people. I was hoping to avoid that." Christopher gave a look back behind me, where the village could be seen in the distance.

"I didn't think that I would need to use my full collection against you here. Many of the magics that I have used against you are a simple common man's magic. Nothing unique or special about them. But you… you have forced me to waste my most powerful spells against you." Christopher gave me a glare as he finished speaking.

'Oh come on… Of course, he has a set of spells that are more powerful than anything else that I've seen from him.' I thought with an internal scoff. As I felt the air grow cold all of a sudden.

'I wonder what magic it is? Whoever he met must have been powerful alright.'

Christopher summoned a piece of paper that was a lot tidier and neater than the others he had used. He gave it a crush and I felt a sudden cold breeze come through the air. Something to do with ice related magic?!

Christopher smiled wickedly as he clenched one of his hands into a fist and brought it down on the palm of his other hand.

"Ice-Make: Rosen Krome!" Christopher cried with vigour, as a gleeful smile worked its way into his face.

As he casted that spell, several roses and other flowers that were made out of ice were summoned around me with the intention to bind and freeze me. I was just able to leap out of the way and dodge the flowers as they froze a huge area where just was. I was left shocked by what I saw and heard.

"I-It's can't be! Those are Ur's spells!" I shouted with wide eyes, recalling the spells that Ur used back when I fought alongside her months ago.

"Oh so you met Ur after all?" Christopher said with a wide grin. "Well then you should know just how powerful she and her spells are! All it took was a bit of light convincing and she gave me quite the list of spells!"

"I've got plenty of them here in my Requip storage! I've never had to use them against anyone else, so you'll be the first to feel the full force of them through me Cadewell!" Christopher laughed as he prepared another spell.

"Ice-Make: Arrows!" He shouted as he created and summoned several arrows that looked like they could pierce through any attack. As the arrows of ice were being sent flying upwards to me in the air, I quickly countered them with a spell of my own.

"Delirium's Blades!" I cried as I summoned swords that were able to slash and destroy the ice as it was sent towards me. While this was successful, it was a close matchup between our spells. Christopher was pulling out all sorts of spell pages from his Requip storage, ready to use whichever one fitted his needs.

Right as our clash between arrows and ice ended, Christopher took this quick opportunity to fire another ice attack at me after clenching another page. "Ice-Make: Bloom!"

This attack of Christopher's caused several flowers to shoot up from the ground underneath me which caused me to fly up into the air.

"While you're in the air like that, you can't dodge! Ice-Make: Cannons!" Christopher laughed with delight, seemingly enjoying this new power that he held. He created several cannons made out of ice that he used to fire off cannonballs that were also made out of ice, they flew fast towards me as I scrambled to counter them.

I tried to quickly cast a counter spell, but the cannonballs were too fast and ended up hitting me. I was struck all over my body by many of the projectiles and came down to the ground in a crash. 'D-Dammit! That hurt like hell!' I thought feeling the pain run through my body, yet I did my best not to scream out loud.

Not willing to give up yet, I jumped back to my feet and ran forwards to launch a powerful enchantment attack at Christopher. "Just because you have spells from a powerful mage, doesn't mean you'll win this!" I shouted as I saw Christopher try to get another spell page ready to go.

As I was running, I sent off an attack to keep him occupied. The less pages he could crush the better. "Scared Slashing!"

I was angered to see, Christopher block my slashes by quickly clenching a page and casting a spell to save him. "Ice-Make: Shield!" He yelled as he summoned a thick shield of ice that had a well-designed flower on it. This was able to block all my slashes as if they were nothing.

"I'm not done yet Cadewell! I have more and more spells that I've always been wanting to try out! Now, Ice-Make: Rose Blister!" Christopher shouted as he immediately created many roses made out of ice, in which their many sharp and deadly blisters shot off towards me.

With how sudden the attack was, I was unable to cast a spell to counter it, so I was forced to take the brunt of the damage by blocking with my fists. This ended up sending me backwards some distance. My hands ached with pain, as the sharp blisters dug into my gauntlets, causing me to wince.

"Ice-Make: Eruption!" Christopher suddenly cried as I suddenly felt a huge rumbling sound beneath me which shook all the debris.

Remembering what this move did back when I fought with Ur, I was able to leap away in just the nick of time as the ground beneath me exploded with ice. 'Thank god I dodged that!' I thought with relief, now being in the air.

"Stone Beams!" I yelled as I fired off three stone Beams towards Christopher while I was still up in the air. They soared down to Christopher, as I now began to feel the gravity bring me back down to the ground below.

In response to my beams, Christopher quickly crunched another piece of paper and created another one of Ur's moves. "Ice-Make: Ballistas!"

Christopher created three big and well-constructed ballistas that fired off thunderous and sharp ice bolts that tore right through my beams and hit me in the chest, sending me crashing back to the ground. Each successful strike from the bolts of ice did big damage to me as I felt myself ache all over. 'Th-This is bad! I'm taking too much damage!' I thought with fear, getting back up on my feet.

"Stone Slicers!" I cried with desperation as I fired off several slices of stone that I hoped would actually hit Christopher.

Christopher smirked as he made way to create and use another one of Ur' spells. "I'll more than match that! Ice-Make: Cold Slicer!" He shouted with glee at my condition. I was looking just as ragged as he was. Only a mixture of adrenaline and my own resolve was keeping me up right now. Christopher's attack summoned a huge slice of ice that was able to counter and break through all my slices of stone and still maintain its momentum in the air as it flew towards me.

I quickly darted to the side, just dodging the huge slice of ice as it destroyed all the debris that was previously behind me, shattering it like it was made out of glass.

'This is bad… From what I remember back when me and Ur fought together, her spells were powerful. I was hoping that maybe Christopher would have a bad understanding of Ur' spells, but he's been using them rather effectively.' I thought with a bit of fear, feeling that I was getting more and more damaged compared to Christopher who had sustained little damage since using her spells.

'What can I do here?! It seems like any of her spells can easily power through mine. Do I wait until Christopher just runs out of spell pages? No! It'd be foolish to try and guess how many he has left and base my chance off of luck.'

'I'm not sure if turning them to stone is a good idea. It might only make them more powerful; it's certainly worked with my magic.'

Before I could keep thinking about what to do, Christopher had destroyed another page and had casted another spell at me. "Ice-Make: Blizzard!" He shouted, as he created a monstrous blizzard which caused me to cover my eyes. It swirled around the mansion, shredding everything it came across. It was almost deafening to the ears and I could barely see in front of me. I also felt my left and right sides being struck by small sharp pieces of ice.

"Dammit! Stone Wave!" I shouted over the loud sounds of the swirling ice as I did my best to create a huge wave and send it to where Christopher was last seen. The blizzard did end thanks to the time limit that Christopher had on his spells, but when I could see again, Christopher was not where I had sent my wave attack previously. I quickly turned to my left and right to see where he was. "Where are-?!"

"Ice-Make: Hammer!" I heard Christopher shout from behind me.

'Dammit! He was behind me!' I thought with my eyes wide at that reveal. I spun around to see Christopher create a huge hammer of ice above me that he prepared to hit me with. Right as he swung the hammer with the intention to have it hit my gut. I was just able to counter this with a quick move of mine.

"Stone Wall!" I immediately created the thickest wall of stone I could in such a short amount of time that would hopefully block Christopher's hammer. Thankfully it was able to do the job, with it crashing through the wall disappearing afterwards, and just barely missing my stomach. I had grimaced due to how close the hammer was from hitting, so that left me open for a short moment.

Christopher took this immediate opportunity to fire another ice attack at me after clenching another page. "Ice-Make: Flower Eruption!" This attack of Christopher's created several flowers to crash up from the ground underneath me which caused me to rocket up into the air helpless before his future attacks.

"Good luck dodging this while you are stuck up in the air Cadewell! Ice-Make: Lance!" Christopher cried as he summoned several long-curved lances that came shooting forwards and struck me in the chest while I was still in the air. Each of the lances struck me in different places across my chest, as I couldn't help but yet out a yell of pain. "GAHHH!"

Christopher took delight in me yelling as I fell back down to the ground not long after. While I had taken a lot of damage during this fight, I could feel that I wasn't out for the count yet. As long as there was still blood running through me, I'd keep getting back up.

I yelled with energy this time as I leapt back up and just heard Christopher cast a new spell in my direction. "Ice-Make: Rose Garden!" He yelled as he brought his hands together.

Suddenly dozens of huge roses were created from across from Christopher and were sent towards me at a fast speed with the intention to bind around me.

"Not happening! Disappear!" I shouted as I created a huge explosion that shattered all the ice that had been created. Christopher wasted no time in following this up with another attack.

"Ice-Make: Sky Blades!" Christopher cried as some dangerous looking blades that were made out of ice were created alongside his arms. He then leapt downwards to me with the intention to slash me through the chest.

Right so he was about to reach me and slash me through the chest, I was able to create a shield of stone to protect me temporarily. At this point, I felt myself running out of attacks that could keep overpowering Christopher while also saving magic power. I was not only running out of attacks, I was running out of ideas to win.

'I need to think here! What's the main weakness of Ice-Make Magic?!' I thought desperately, as I leapt away from several icy hammers that struck where I previously stood.

'I'd say that the weakness of ice is mostly fire and other elements that go against it. Bad news is I don't have any good fire spells on me that I think could stand a chance at melting Ur's spells before they hit me.'

'So what's the weakness of Maker Magic then?! What can I do to get an opportunity here?!' I tried to think back at what what I've learned about Maker Magic over the years, whether it be conversations, light reading or battle experience. 'Come on, what did I learn?'

Maker Magic involved bringing both your hands together to cast the spell.

Both your hands…

Both your… Ah!

'Yes, that could work!' I had suddenly thought of a plan, thankfully Christopher had just slashed through a defensive wall that I had created, so he was close enough for it to work. I saw that his blades had turned into dust, and he had just destroyed another page.

"Stone Fists!" I shouted as I covered both my hands with stone and began to make moves to punch Christopher repeatedly. I had a plan now on how to weaken Christopher, I just needed to send the right attack to the right part of his body.

"Ice-Make: Sword!" Christopher yelled as he quickly destroyed a page and created a well-crafted sword that he immediately used to parry and block my punches as they came hurling towards him.

Christopher achieved this successfully, with me being unable to land a single hit on him. After his sword had turned into dust I got a bit too tired to keep throwing my fists at him, being rather worn out from our fight. He raised his foot and landed a good kick to my stomach.

This sent me off balance and caused me to stagger backwards. Yet I held onto Christopher's sleeves and struggled with him, landing a good punch on his face. Eventually he snarled at me and landed another kick that connect with my lower neck.

With that kick I broke away from Christopher while hitting some of the debris that was on the ground. I grunted, most of the damage I had sustained now catching up with me.

Christopher let out a laugh at my position below him. "Hahaha! It's pointless Cadewell! Ur is the most powerful wizard that I've been able to collect spells from. It's futile to keep fighting me!"

Despite his comment there, I regained my footing and prepared to keep fighting. Christopher tsked a little. "Insolent brat!" Christopher yelled as I moved to charge up an attack.

"Stone Slicer!" I yelled as I shot off slices of stone that zoomed past Christopher's hands and face. It… looked like they came close to hitting him… was I off place?

Christopher's face twitched with anger. "Fine then, see how you like this!" He raised his hands to cast another Ice-Make spell.

"Ice-Ma… What?" Christopher cut himself off as he staggered backwards a little.

I smirked, surprised that worked.

Christopher looked aghast as he saw that his right hand was bleeding quite profusely all of a sudden.

"Wh-What the hell is this?!" He screamed as his right hand was suffering from a large gash. Blood was trickling out his right hand, causing Christopher to grunt in pain. He did his best to cover it up with some cloth, ripping off part of his sleeve. Though that hardly stopped the pain.

"Did you forget? Earlier I had aimed an attack close to your hand: My Stone Slicer I believe. Look's like it made it's mark after all." I remarked with a smirk, seeing Christopher hold his right hand in pain.

"I never normally do that during battle, as my opponents are either knocked out or already subdued in some way." I shrugged. "Not to mention I find it a bit disgusting. But it might be what I need to beat you!"

Christopher looked enraged to see me do this to him. "You… You've genuinely angered me you lowly brat!" He yelled as he held out his remaining hand and crushed a sheet of paper.

He then prepared an Ice-Make spell. "See I can still use Ice-Make Magic!" He laughed. "Ice-Make: Crescent Blades!" He shouted as he summoned many crescent-shaped ice projectiles that he planned to launch at me.

But I noticed something interesting about the Ice-Make spell here compared to the one that created before this. This spell was a lot less compact and sharp than the others. The colour was also a lot less vibrant.

'Now THAT'S interesting.' I thought with a grin.

Christopher laughed as he fired off the crescent-shaped blades towards me. But I didn't plan on dodging these blades like I had for many of the other attacks before.

With confidence, I leapt forwards towards Christopher and casted a spell to destroy the blades as I was coming up to them. "Stone Fist!"

I charged up my fist and punched right through all the blades as they were about to hit me. With success, I flew right through them all and saw Christopher's mouth drop in shock. With nothing to stop me from meeting him in the middle, I landed a square punch directly to his face which sent him staggering backwards.

I chuckled as he hit some debris, grunting as he stood back up. "I just remembered something from a book that I read years back. It listed what the weaknesses of Maker Magic is. Maker Magic involves using both hands to create spells. So what I remove one of the hands from the fight?" I asked with a growing smile on my face.

"That confirms that for me then; one-handed Ice-Make Magic is weaker than two-handed Ice-Make Magic." I remarked.

Christopher got back up and was taking some fast and deep breaths. I had clearly angered him with this move here. His hand was still bleeding, so he wouldn't be using it for the rest of this fight. "Of course I knew that!" He yelled with anger. "But I'm sure Ur's spells are strong enough to be powerful without two hands!"

"I don't care if I have one-handed or two-handed Ice-Make Magic! You'll still lose here regardless! Ice-Make: Ice Geyser!" He shouted as the ground beneath me began to explode with ice which sent me flying upwards. Of course, it didn't hurt as much as last time.

While I was in the air, Christopher fired off another attack at me. "Ice-Make: Shooting Star!" He cried as he created a large star of ice which he sent flying right towards me.

With anger, I simply slashed the star away with some simple magic from my hand. Christopher took a step back in fear. 'You see! Your attacks are more than twice as fragile and weak than they were before! Now let's see you counter my spells! Sacred Slashing!" I cried as I fired of slashes of magic towards Christopher.

Christopher gave a cry as he leapt away from the slashes of ice. Instead of creating a shield or using an attack to overpower it, he had now resorted to dodging.

"What's wrong? Lost the confidence that you had earlier?" I cried as I landed on the ground and powered up another move. "Stone Beams!" I shouted, feeling new confidence of my own soar through me.

Several beams of stone were fired out and sent forwards to strike Christopher. He upon seeing this, panicked a little bit. He gave a scowl as he powered up another move after destroying another bit of paper.

"Ice-Make: Saucers!" Christopher cried, holding out a single hand, as he summoned dozens of small saucers of ice that he fired off towards me. Many of them were destroyed by my beams, but a few were able to break through at hit me in the stomach.

While they weren't as strong as his other previous attacks, they still did hurt quite a bit. 'Dammit! I can still take a few hits if I'm not careful! I've taken a lot of damage in this fight, I don't know how much longer I can go before passing out due to exhaustion!' I thought with paranoia as I gazed towards Christopher.

'But Christopher looks just as bad as me.' I saw that he had dodged my beams, and he as well was looking quite tired. 'I'm so close! I have a better chance to end this now that I've limited his power!' I thought as I sprinted forwards.

"Delirium's Blades!" I shouted with determination as I sent away the magical blades to hit Christopher. The man looked livid as he saw the blades approaching him, knowing that he was now running out of options.

"Gah, Ice-Make: Wall!" Christopher cried desperately as he summoned a huge and thick wall to try and buy himself some time.

The wall was surprisingly durable, with my blades getting stuck in the ice. However, I noticed that a few cracks had been made due to the impact. With anger filling me, I leapt forwards, pulled back my fist and brought it right through the wall that Christopher had created smashing it completely.

Christopher looked scared to see this happen. "N-No! Ice-Make: Battle Axe!" He frantically created a axe made out of ice that he swung to try and hit me in the head. "YOU WON'T WIN THIS!"

I was able to grab the axe with my hands, right before it could slice into my skull, and break it in half, with the pieces turning to dust afterwards. Christopher was outraged to see this, as he gritted his teeth.

Despite his visible anger, Christopher tried to leap away to increase the distance between us. "Oh no you don't!" I shouted with rage as I grabbed Christopher by the arm to stop him from getting away.

Christopher looked back at me with a baffled look, clearly not expecting me to grab him so suddenly. "Wh-What the-?"

"Stone Buster!" I shouted as used my remaining hand to fire my close-range spell. It hit Christopher directly, sending him flying backwards where he hit a big pile of debris that was across from him.

It seemed like Christopher had been almost buried under all the debris that I had thrown him towards. I watched carefully to see if he would get back up but nothing seemed to happen.

Right as I thought that he was down for the count, he burst out of the debris panting heavily.

"You… You're ruining everything that I've had planned for the next few years of my life. All of it extinguished because of you!" He snarled, pointing a finger at me.

"Had enough yet?" I challenged as I raised an eyebrow. "Maybe if you put back on that wristband of yours, I'll stop attacking you."

"I won't give up! Do much is on the line here! Ice-Make: Rosé Blisters!" Christopher yelled as he summoned several ice roses that came down from the sky in spiral style. As the roses got closer to me, they exploded and sent out dozens of small ice blisters.

"Stone Bullets!" I shouted as I fired off bullets of stone that destroyed the blisters of ice. However, a few of them ended up hitting in between the kinks in my armour which caused quite a bit of pain to race throughout my body.

"Gah! Five-Layered Stoneflake!" I shouted as I fired off my shards of stone to hit Christopher. As I sent them, I ran forwards to get closer to Christopher so that I could attack him more easily.

Christopher, seeing my forwards assault, gave a yell as he cried out his next move. "Ice-Make: Freeze Lancer!" He called as he fired out his hand.

Christopher created several sharp lances of ice that were sent soaring forward with the intention to destroy my stone and stop me in my tracks. As the lances of ice were sent flying forwards, they were actually able to break away my stone and continue forwards to me.

As they got closer to me, they suddenly curved round to attack me from many different angles. Thinking quickly, I jumped up and casted a spell as I fell to the ground.

"Stone Extinction!" I shouted as several spies of stone shot up from the ground and pierced right through the shards of stone completely shattering them.

"Ah! Ice-Make: Ice Wave!" Christopher cried with fury as he created a huge wave of ice that he sent crashing forwards towards me, the wave also moving all the debris and clutter on the floor along with it. I had only seconds to react.

"I'll counter with my own Stone Wave!" I bellowed as I created a huge wave of stone that I sent forwards to meet Christopher's wave in the middle. As I sent the wave, I made sure to run behind it so that I'd further decrease the distance between the both of us.

As wave attacks met in the middle, they crashed together with each of them breaking the other apart into an explosion of stone and ice. When they were destroyed, I saw that Christopher was quite close to me due to my run forwards. But he had been charging up an spell. For a split second, I was stunned seeing this.

"Hahaha! Ice-Make: Swans Wings!" Christopher shouted with a sick smile as he created bladed wings shaped like a swans on his arms. Then he leapt forwards towards me with the intention to slice my chest.

My eyes were wide with fear when I saw just his sharp the blades were, despite his one-handed maker magic. I frantically casted a spell in response to this as I saw Christopher be mere inches from me.

"Stone Buster!" I cried as I tried to move to the right a little to dodge Christopher's blades. His blades of ice sliced through the air, as he closed in on me, my attacking now being launched from my hand.

As Christopher sliced his blades, he went rocketing past me. But I was able to land my Stone Buster attack as he past me.

We were now inches away from each other. Our backs facing each other.

It was then I felt the pain of those blades that Christopher had used. My chest was in complete agony, and I had to clutch it to avoid falling unconscious. I wasn't bleeding, but the injury and pain was bad to bare through. "A-Argh!"

While the pain was overwhelming to experience, I was able to turn my head around and look at Christopher.

He was on his knees panting heavily. He was bent over and was breathing very heavily. "N-No! I'm… I'm…" He began, trailing off as he panted heavily.

"Finished." I stated as I gained the strength to turn over to face him directly. "Give up. You can't keep fighting." I said coldly. I was doing everything I could to not fall over right now.

Christopher gave a laugh as he was able to stand up and turn around to face me.

"Finished? Me? By some insolent little pest like you!? Never!" He screamed as he quickly destroyed a piece of paper that he was hiding in what was left of his blazer.

"Ice-Make: Pillar!" He yelled as pillar of ice erupted from the ground beneath Christopher and raised him high into the sky, now looming over me on the gigantic pillar.

"I'm not finished yet! But you are after this move Cadewell! ICE-MAKE: ULTIMATE ROSE!" Christopher shouted at the top of his lungs as he summoned a huge; almost majestic rose, with many thorns that came spiralling downwards towards me. It was a gorgeous flower to look at, but it was also terrifyingly powerful.

"Stone Beams!" I shouted as I used whatever strength I had left to fire several beams of stone towards the giant rose to destroy it and knock Christopher down for good.

I was scared to see that my beams were failing to stop the huge rose as it continued to come spiralling down towards me. The force of my attacks pushed me back as I grit my teeth in frustration.

'No! It can't end like this! This is almost all the magic I have left!' I thought as I kept powering up my magic.

But it wasn't working.

'I-I can't lose here! NO I won't lose!' I thought with anger and a resolve that empowered me to new heights.

I remembered how the magic said that this battle might mean that he could save the town from the economic crisis that it was facing.

I remembered how the mayor was desperate to do anything to save his village.

I remembered people like the young girl who had to beg for food, the innkeeper who seemed to also have a dislike for the village's problems, and everyone else who seemed tired and upset at what they were experiencing.

No. I would win this. For them.

"I'M NOT FINISHED! AS LONG AS I'M A MEMBER OF FAIRY TAIL, I'LL ALWAYS DEFEAT PEOPLE LIKE YOU! ENCHANTER'S FURY: BEAM OF ANNIHILATION!" I roared as I fired off my most powerful move upwards towards the huge rose.

My attack was able to tear through the rose and shatter it into small fragments of ice. Christopher was wide-eyed with fear when he saw that nothing could save him now.

My attack his chest directly and sent him flying up into the air.

"GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Christopher screamed with pain and anger as he eventually stopped screaming and fell to the ground with a crash.

Staggering over to him, I found that his eyes were still open back. He hadn't fallen unconscious yet, but he was definitely nearing it. I raised my head when I saw his battered body before me. "You… lose…"

"You certainly had her spells Christopher. But you lacked one thing. Her resolve and determination. And I feel the same goes for every other wizard that you scribbled notes down on." I concluded with a deep breath. "You're nothing but a thief, taking advantage of others work."

Christopher was grunting. "I've… lost… d-dammit! If only I had gotten your spells earlier…! Or even… his…!"

Before I could say anything else, Christopher let out a small laugh. "Because… I've lost… that family of maniacs… they'll… ah…" He was slipping into unconscious now. He rose his head a little as he said his final words.

"Nyandam… is coming you fool…" He muttered before he passed out.

'…? What was he talking about there?'

Yet another chapter done and dusted. Feel free to leave a review if you liked it or not!

How did you like that fight between Cade and Christopher. I found it to be the most fun fight yet, looking to see all the different magics that were out there for Christopher to use against Cade.

Of course, it would make sense that Christopher would have some of Ur's spells due to how powerful she is. The way to win here, was of course, limit Christopher to using one handed Ice Make Magic. But what did Christopher mean at the end there?

Next chapter we will see the conclusion of this quest. What the end outcome be? Stay tuned to find out.

That being said, I hope you all enjoyed this chapter and I'll see you in the next one!
