The greenhouse was a work of art in itself, a glass and wrought iron structure that looked older than time, with trailing vines tracing undulating shadows across the marble floors. Elphaba Thropp sat at a small table, her tall, slender figure almost lost among the exotic plants surrounding her. She wore a black wool coat, elegant yet austere, which matched her deep green skin, now softly illuminated by the evening light filtering through the fogged glass.
Jade West stood before her, her posture relaxed yet defiant. Her black leather jacket had the sleeves rolled up, revealing several metal bracelets that jingled softly with each movement. Her dark hair fell in carefully unkempt waves, and her precisely lined eyes seemed to study Elphaba with a mix of curiosity and skepticism.
"I don't know how they convinced me to come here," Jade murmured, breaking the silence. Her voice had a distinctive edge to it, as if every word was a challenge.
Elphaba let out a barely perceptible smile, taking a sip of her tea. "I could say the same thing. Glinda tends to have… outlandish ideas. It seems our partners share that quirk."
Jade snorted, leaning back in her chair. "Tori decided this would be 'an enriching experience.' As if sitting here with someone who isn't even from my world would suddenly make me appreciate life or something."
Elphaba arched an eyebrow, her gaze fixed on Jade with a calm intensity. "And yet, here you are. So either you can't say no to her, or something inside you wanted to come."
Jade crossed her arms, her gaze darkening. "It's not that simple. Tori… has this damn way of making things seem possible. Even when I know they're a waste of time."
Elphaba nodded slowly. "Glinda has that same ability. She can transform the mundane into the magical, the impossible into the attainable. It's… irritating, and yet…"
"…you can't help but be drawn to it." Jade finished the sentence, her tone heavy with recognition.
For a moment, they both stood in silence, contemplating the strange connection they had just shared. Outside, the rain began to patter softly against the glass panes of the greenhouse, creating a hypnotic rhythm.
"She makes me feel…" Elphaba searched for words, her gaze lost in a purple flower hanging nearby. "Like I can be something more than what I've always been. Something more than my reputation, my past, my… shadow."
Jade let out a short, bitter laugh. "Tori says I'm better than I think. That there's something in me that deserves to be seen. Honestly, sometimes I want to yell at her to shut up. That there's nothing there."
Elphaba turned her attention to Jade, her expression softer than the other expected. "And you believe that?"
Jade hesitated. The question hung between them, heavy and laden with meaning. Finally, she murmured, "I don't know. But when she's around, for a moment, I want to believe it."
Elphaba tilted her head, her eyes shining with something Jade couldn't quite place. "Maybe that's what brings us together. They make us want something we never thought we could have."
"Like what?" Jade raised an eyebrow, her tone filled with skepticism.
"Hope."
Jade let out a sigh, her gaze fixed on the steam rising from her teacup. "Hope is a luxury. People like us don't live in that world. We live in reality. In the struggle."
"And yet," Elphaba said softly, "they draw us into their light. They make us believe that, maybe, we don't have to stay in the shadows forever."
Jade looked up, her eyes meeting Elphaba's. There was something in that gaze, a deep understanding that resonated within her. For an instant, there were no separate worlds, no separate stories. Just two women trying to understand how someone so different from them could become their everything.
They both fell silent again, listening to the rain that continued to fall with an almost melancholic softness. Finally, Jade spoke, her voice softer than usual.
"I guess, in the end, no matter how hard I try to push her away. She always finds a way to come back."
"Because that's what they do," Elphaba said, smiling slightly. "They find the good in us, even when we can't see it."
And so, as the greenhouse filled with shadows as night fell, Jade and Elphaba shared a unique complicity, knowing that although their worlds were different, their hearts understood the same language.
The atmosphere in the greenhouse was becoming more and more welcoming, the cool, damp air surrounded by that scent of wet earth and flowers. The rain outside was a backdrop that set the pace of the moment. Elphaba and Jade didn't move, as if time had stopped between them, letting their shared thoughts float in the thick afternoon air.
Jade didn't realize she was smiling, but there it was, a small curve to her lips that had nothing to do with her usual sarcasm. There was something about Elphaba that made her feel… understood. Something she had never felt for anyone else, not even Tori. Maybe it was because Elphaba, with her green skin and broken soul, understood shadows. The shadows that Jade wore so carefully, almost like armor.
"You know?" Jade said, her voice now softer than before, almost as if she were talking to herself. "Tori isn't afraid of me. And that scares me."
Elphaba looked at her, the glint in her green eyes intensifying. "She's not afraid of you because, to her, you're perfect just the way you are. Even when you don't see it."
Jade looked away, uncomfortable. It wasn't something she was used to hearing, especially from someone she barely knew. But there was something about the sincerity of Elphaba's words that made her hesitate. Could it be true? Could Tori see something in her that even Jade hadn't been able to recognize?
"It's… frustrating," Jade continued, her fingers playing with one of the bracelets that adorned her wrist. "Because I, sometimes, want to… I don't know… disappear. Like being seen by Tori is a mistake. Like being loved is a curse."
Elphaba moved a little closer, almost imperceptibly, and her words were soft, almost a whisper. "Sometimes, being loved is scarier than being alone. Because love brings with it a vulnerability that can never be controlled. But she also brings something beautiful, something that can change everything."
Jade couldn't help but look at her then. There was something in Elphaba's eyes, something deep and mysterious, as if she spoke from a place Jade couldn't even understand, but felt. It was a look full of history, of struggle, of acceptance. And for a moment, Jade wished she could be more like her. She wished she could stop resisting what she felt so much.
"Elphaba…" Jade began, her voice wavering, not used to exposing her vulnerability. "Have you ever been afraid of being loved?"
Elphaba stared at her, and for a second, the intensity of her gaze was so strong that Jade felt as if the entire room had emptied, leaving the two of them alone in a universe of their own. "Fear is a shadow that never goes away," Elphaba said in a low, almost thoughtful voice. "But I've learned to accept it. Fear doesn't go away, but love challenges it. It faces it."
Jade felt the warmth of those words sink into her chest, something she hadn't felt in a long time. It was like, for the first time, someone was willing to face the darkest parts of her, instead of running away from them.
"I don't know," Jade whispered, her gaze lost in the center of the table, as her thoughts began to tie themselves into knots in her mind. "I feel so broken sometimes. So… hopeless. And Tori… Tori acts like I'm the most important person in her life. Like there's nothing to change about me."
"That's because you're important to her, Jade," Elphaba replied, her voice soft but firm. "Because love isn't about fixing someone. It's about accepting them, in their shadows and in their light."
Jade didn't say anything else, she simply stayed silent, letting Elphaba's words slowly sink into her heart. There was something so comforting about that acceptance without judgment. Something that made her feel for the first time in a long time, that maybe, just maybe, she didn't have to change to be loved. Maybe, just maybe, all she needed to do was let herself be loved.
Elphaba watched as Jade slowly relaxed her shoulders, as if all the weight she was carrying on them had begun to fade, even if only a little. She saw her like never before, not only as a girl with a fierce character and a defiant look, but as someone who also carried her own battles, her own story. And for some reason, Elphaba felt a deep connection with her, something that kept her anchored to the moment.
They both stayed silent for a few moments, each one lost in their thoughts, until Jade finally broke the silence. Her voice was softer, more vulnerable, almost like a sigh.
"You know, Elphaba? I don't feel so alone here with you."
Elphaba smiled, but it was a different smile, one that had some tenderness. "We're not alone, Jade. Not you, not me. Even though the world is a difficult place, there will always be someone who sees us, even when we can't see ourselves."
Jade, without quite knowing why, felt as if something broke inside her. Something that had been so firm, so impenetrable. And for a moment, just a moment, she allowed herself to feel vulnerable. She allowed herself to feel a little less alone.
And so, as the rain continued to fall, the outside world seemed to fade away, leaving them in a bubble of calm and complicity. Two souls lost in the darkness, but finding light in each other's eyes.
The sound of footsteps came, soft but unmistakable, down the hallway of the greenhouse. Jade and Elphaba, who had been lost in the stillness of their conversation, looked up at the same time. The door opened with a soft creak, and the familiar figures of Glinda and Tori stepped into the warm evening light, illuminated by the gentle rain that continued to patter against the glass.
Glinda entered with her characteristic lightness, her soft laugh and bright presence filling the room. Her pastel-colored dress reflected the hue of the cloudy sky, and her blonde hair, pulled back in a carefully undone updo, seemed to shine with its own light. Tori, at her side, walked with her usual elegance, with a smile on her face that reflected a bit of shyness, but also a happiness she could not hide. Her simple but sophisticated dress fit her figure perfectly, and her eyes shone with an excitement she never managed to hide.
"Long enough to make us worry," Glinda teased, grinning from ear to ear. "What are two strong girls like you doing here, not giving us a single sign of life?"
Jade let out a soft laugh, but with a hint of sarcasm. "Looks like we're busy with something more important. It's not our fault if you're the ones who were late."
Tori walked over to Jade, looked at her with unmistakable sweetness, and placed a small package wrapped in pink paper in her hands. "I know, I know. But I couldn't pass up the opportunity to give you this."
Jade looked at the package, somewhat bewildered, before looking up at Tori. "Is this for me?"
Tori smiled shyly, her expression reflecting a mix of nervousness and tenderness. "Yeah. It's just a little something. I hope you like it."
Elphaba, who had been watching with a slight smile on her lips, watched as Glinda, with her delicate smile, approached her and, with an almost playful attitude, handed her a package wrapped in gold paper. "I couldn't resist, Elphaba," Glinda said, her eyes shining in a way that only she could show. "I know you are… a little complicated, but this, perhaps, will make you smile."
Elphaba took the package with a slight sigh, her gaze fixed on Glinda for a moment before tearing the wrapping. Opening it, she discovered a small music box, delicately carved with intricate wooden details. When she turned it, a soft, almost whisper-like melody began to play, seeming to fill the room with an unexpected calm.
"It's beautiful," Elphaba murmured, her voice heavy with emotion, an unexpected sparkle in her eyes. "Glinda…"
Glinda stepped closer, her hand gently touching Elphaba's. "I know you're not one for cutesy stuff, but who could resist something that sounds so… hopeful?"
Elphaba smiled, her face softening in a way she rarely saw, as she turned to Jade, who was now admiring the small gift Tori had given her. In her hands, Jade held a pair of delicate earrings, made of a stone that reflected the light in a captivating way. When she saw the expression on Tori's face, something inside her clicked. It was such a simple gesture, so innocent, but at the same time so deeply personal.
"They're beautiful," Jade said, her tone softer than ever. She looked up at Tori and, not knowing exactly how to phrase it, murmured, "Thank you."
Tori, her eyes filled with gratitude, caressed Jade's cheek. "I'm glad you like them. I wanted you to have something to always remind you of… yourself. Because you are more brilliant than you realize."
Jade stood still for a moment, feeling Tori's words settle into her heart, occupying a space she hadn't been able to reach before. For a moment, everything she had thought about herself, about love and vulnerability, seemed to fade away in Tori's warmth, in the sincerity of her gesture.
Elphaba, for her part, felt the same warmth in her chest. The music box continued to play softly in her hands, and for a moment, all that mattered was that small, fragile bond between her and Glinda. "I don't need you to make me smile, Glinda," Elphaba said with a subtle smile, "but you have given me something I didn't know I needed. Something that… makes me feel less alone."
Glinda looked at her, her eyes shining with a love so pure and transparent that Elphaba felt something in her gently break. "You will never be alone, Elphaba. Even if you sometimes think you are, I will always be here, next to you."
Glinda's words floated in the air, soft and full of unspoken promises. And as the four women stood there, with the gifts in their hands and the love floating between them like a warm mist, the outside world seemed to fade away, as if all that really mattered was that shared moment.
The sound of the rain, the shy smiles and the looks full of promise made the atmosphere become even more intimate, almost magical. Jade, who had never allowed herself to feel vulnerable, allowed the love that Tori offered her to penetrate deep into her being. And Elphaba, so used to fighting against everything, allowed the fragility of that moment to envelop her without resistance.
It was a gift, beyond the material, that both received with an open heart. Because, in that moment, everything they needed was right there: each other, in their purest form.
The silence stretched between them, a silence that wasn't awkward, but filled with deep understanding, as if everything that mattered was suspended in that very moment. Jade, still wearing Tori's earrings shining in her ears, couldn't stop looking at the softness in the eyes of the girl she'd learned to love without asking. The way Tori looked at her, so full, so full of acceptance, made her wish with all her being that this moment would never end.
Jade took a step toward Tori, driven by an emotion so powerful that even she couldn't quite understand. The air between them seemed to grow thicker, but in a way that didn't suffocate, but brought them together. Tori, speechless, moved closer, as if she felt it too, and before Jade could realize it, their lips were already brushing in a soft, slow kiss that spoke of all the things that weren't said with words.
It was a sweet kiss, so full of promise that it made Jade forget about the rest of the world, the rain, the greenhouse, everything. There was only them, in that shared space where wounds no longer seemed so deep and fears, for a brief second, vanished.
Elphaba, who had been watching the two with a mix of fascination and silent excitement, felt the weight of a love that could not be denied. Glinda, at her side, seemed to absorb everything around her with a calm smile, as if the moment was just for them. Elphaba's gaze shifted to Glinda, and before she could think about it, their hands had already intertwined.
"Glinda…" Elphaba whispered, feeling the warmth of her fingers intertwined with hers. "How… do you make everything seem simpler?"
Glinda leaned closer, her soft laughter echoing like a melody that only they shared. "It's just that, Elphaba, there is nothing simpler than loving you. Even if you keep making things difficult for me."
Elphaba smiled in an almost shy way, something that only Glinda could get out of her. "Maybe I'll never understand," she said quietly, "but… I don't care. All I know is that I don't want this to end. I don't want to lose this moment."
Glinda raised her hand and caressed Elphaba's cheek softly, her eyes reflecting something that was only found in the most beautiful moments. "And we won't lose it. Not now, not ever."
Elphaba, moved by Glinda's words, leaned in and kissed her with a tenderness she had rarely shown. The kiss was slow, as if every second counted, as if the words were reduced to the soft touch of their lips. All the time she had spent fighting, rejecting her vulnerability, now faded away in the softness of the moment.
Jade and Tori, still embraced in their own kiss, felt the same connection that united them with their respective partners. The rain continued to hit the windows, but the sound seemed more distant, as if the world itself had been put on hold, waiting for them to decide what would come next.
As they slowly separated, Jade stared into Tori's eyes, as if she wanted to record every detail in her mind. "I never thought something as simple as this could be so… perfect."
Tori smiled, her hands still searching for Jade's, as if their touch was an anchor that kept them together. "Sometimes, the simplest is the most perfect. And I, Jade West, am living proof of that."
Glinda, who had watched the scene with a sparkle in her eyes, turned to Elphaba, who looked at her with a tenderness she had not shown to anyone else. "Maybe the magic is not in what we are, but in what we give to each other, Elphaba. And what we give to each other is always enough."
Elphaba nodded slowly, her fingers gently sliding through Glinda's hair. "Enough… that sounds good."
The silence that followed was not empty, but filled with everything that didn't need to be said. The four women, in their small glass shelter, shared an instant that united them beyond any borders, beyond fears and insecurities. What had started as a simple gesture of love had transformed into a connection that transcended everything.
Elphaba looked at Glinda once more, Jade at Tori. And although each had arrived at this point in their own way, there was something in the air that told them that, somehow, all those broken moments had brought them here. Together.
The rain had lessened its fury, turning into a soft drizzle that barely touched the glass of the greenhouse. The air was cool, but there was a warmth in the space that enveloped the four of them, as if everything had fallen into a deep sigh of peace. The colors of the sunset filtered through the cracks, filling the room with a golden light that seemed tailor-made for the moment.
Jade and Tori, now embraced in the tranquility of their own love, stood there, almost oblivious to everything that was happening around them. Jade's head rested on Tori's shoulder, and Tori gently caressed her back, unhurriedly, as if the entire world could not steal that moment from them.
Elphaba, with her eyes fixed on Glinda, felt a knot in her stomach. There was something in Glinda's gaze, something that made her feel more alive than ever, more rooted to what really mattered. She, the girl who had lived her whole life in the shadows, now found herself in the warm light of a genuine love. A love that, though uncertain in its beginnings, now seemed to be the only truth in her life.
"Glinda…" Elphaba murmured, her voice barely audible, but filled with such deep emotion that it made Glinda's heart race. "If only I had known what love was before… If I had known it was this… simple. That it didn't have to be so complicated, so dark…"
Glinda lifted her face to look her straight in the eyes. "Elphaba," she said, her voice soft but charged with a strength that only she could have, "love doesn't always have to be simple. And you are proof that the most beautiful things sometimes come after a storm. But when it comes, it stays. Like us."
Elphaba felt his words pass through her, enveloped in the same warmth she felt in that embrace. An embrace that, though it often seemed fragile, was firmer than anything she had ever experienced before. She didn't need any more promises, she didn't need any more assurances. She knew that now that she was with Glinda, the future felt more possible, brighter.
"I want this to last forever, Glinda," Elphaba said, her voice shaking with emotion. "I don't want to stop feeling this, being here with you, knowing that what we have is real. There's nothing more I want right now…"
Glinda, without thinking twice, moved closer, gently caressing Elphaba's cheek before leaning in and kissing her. The kiss was slow, soft, as if they both knew that this moment was everything. There were no words, just a kiss that said what they couldn't express with voices. A kiss that confirmed what they both felt, what they both knew deep in their hearts: it didn't matter what had happened before, it didn't matter what path they had traveled; the only thing that mattered now was "us."
Jade and Tori, who watched them from their own haven of love, smiled at each other without saying a word. There was something so perfect about the way the four of them shared that moment. The connection between them was like an invisible bond that held them together, that made them stronger than they ever imagined.
Tori, holding Jade's hand gently, looked into her eyes and whispered, "I love you more than words can say. There's nothing in this world I want more than to be with you."
Jade smiled, that rare but beautiful smile that only Tori had managed to get out of her. "I love you too, Tori. More than you think. And I realize that… maybe I'm not so bad at this love thing. Maybe I just needed to find the right person."
And in that moment, in the soft light of the afternoon, the four of them shared a moment so perfect that it didn't seem from this world. It was as if, at last, everything had fallen into place, as if all the pieces of their lives had finally found their place.
Elphaba took Glinda's hand and caressed it with a tenderness that was so new to her. "I want to live this love. Every day. I don't want it to end. Not now."
Glinda, with a smile full of affection, hugged her, her heart beating in sync with Elphaba's. "It won't, Elphaba. It will always be ours."
And there, in that greenhouse full of flowers and the scent of wet earth, surrounded by the softness of the rain and the warmth of their hearts, the four of them knew that, although the future was still uncertain, they were no longer afraid. The love they shared, as complex and challenging as it was, was here to stay.
Because, at the end of the day, love was not a matter of perfection. It was not a matter of having all the answers. It was a matter of being there, in that very moment, with the person who makes you feel like everything else doesn't matter.
And so, in the soft, golden light of that sunset, Elphaba and Glinda, Jade and Tori, stood together, in the place where love had finally found them.
This journey is dedicated to the brave souls who dare to love, to those who find beauty in the unexpected, and to those who believe that even in the darkness, love can blossom.
