Chapter 13: Tristan The Knight

Tristan led our heroes to his hideaway. Along the way, Eli spotted a giant tower in the distance.

(Eli) "Woah! What's that place?"

(Tristan) "That? That's the Knight's Tower. It's where the best of the best train for knighthood."

(Grimsnarl) "How do you know about that place?"

(Tristan) "Because I dream about living there. I want to be a knight some day. Plus, that place is in my hometown...Ametrine City."

Weeks Earlier

Tristan walked through Ametrine Town alongside his friend, Arthur the Karrablast. The duo stopped in front of a giant tower in the center of town.

(Tristan) "Ah the Knight's Tower! I can't wait till the day I get to train amongst the best of the best."

(Arthur) "You really think they'll let you into the Knight's Tower?"

(Tristan) "I'm sure one day it'll happen. It's my life's dream to train in the Knight's Tower. To get to train alongside Gallade, Escavalier, Armarouge, and more!"

(Arthur) "That place is overrated. You don't need the Knight's Tower to prove you're the best. You're the best to me."

(Tristan) "Thanks buddy. But still, if I was a member of the Knight's Tower, everyone would see just how great i can be!"

Tristan swung around his giant red and purple leek; acting like it was a sword.

(Arthur) "You know they hardly accept Sirfetch'd into the tower. Let alone a Farfetch'd."

(Tristan) "I mean, I know right now I won't get accepted. But I can still dream for the day I will!"

(Arthur) "Well, even if you aren't accepted into the Knight's Tower, you'll always be the best in my heart."

(Ametrine Citizen) "*distant* Someone! Help!"

(Tristan) "You hear that?"

(Arthur) "That cry?"

(Tristan) "Someone's in trouble. This might be my shot to prove I'm the best! Let's go see what's up!"

(Arthur) "That doesn't sound like a good..."

But Tristan was already rushing towards danger.

Present Day

The group arrived at Tristan's hideaway. It was more barren than the one near Citrine Town. However, it didn't look recently made.

(Tristan) "Here we are! My home away from home."

(Barnaby) "You built this place only weeks ago?"

(Tristan) "Nah! This is where me and my buddy Arthur used to hang out. You know...before..."

(Eli) "Yeah."

There was an awkward silence.

(Owen) "Ahem! So...You want to be a knight?"

(Tristan) "Oh yeah. It's my lifelong dream to be accepted into the Knight's Tower. Although not many Sirfetch'd get accepted. I don't know if I have a shot."

(Owen) "Don't say that! You seem capable of becoming a knight. What would make you believe you couldn't?"

(Tristan) "I don't know...Just, many reasons..."

Weeks Earlier

Tristan and Arthur raced over to the sound of trouble. An Annihilape was stealing the hammer from a Tinkatink.

(Tinkatink) "Hey! Give that back! That's my hammer!"

(Annihilape) "Oh yeah? Whatcha gonna do about it?"

(Tristan) "Hey!"

Annihilape turned around. Tristan walked towards him. Arthur stood off to the side.

(Tristan) "Give back that hammer!"

Annihilape looked at Tristan. He then started to laugh.

(Annihilape) "Ha ha ha! You think I'm gonna listen to you?"

Tristan revealed his leek. He swung it just inches from Annihilape's face.

(Tristan) "I don't know! Are you gonna listen to that?"

Tristan held the leek in front of Annihilape. Annihilape just continued to laugh.

(Annihilape) "Ha! You think a little leek is gonna scare me? Boys!"

Suddenly a bunch of Primeape jumped out from behind a few buildings. They surrounded Tristan.

(Annihilape) "So. You want the hammer back now?"

Tristan cowered. He wasn't expecting more than just the Annihilape.

(Annihilape) "Aw. Where'd all that confidence go? You look so scared!"

Tristan backed up against a wall. Suddenly a Gallade, a Ceruledge, an Armarouge, and an Escavalier arrived. They surrounded the Primeape and Annihilape.

(Gallade) "Well well well. If it isn't Annihilape and the Primeape Pack. Back to cause troubles I see."

(Annihilape) "Oh. H-hey Gallade! L-long time no see!"

The 4 Pokemon unsheathed swords.

(Armarouge) "Why don't you just drop the hammer and walk away."

(Escavalier) "Yeah. Before things have to get ugly."

Annihilape dropped Tinkatink's hammer.

(Annihilape) "Wh-whatever. Let's get out of here guys."

The Annihilape and Primeape fled the scene. The citizens watching the scene unfold clapped and cheered.

(Citizen 1) "Woohoo!"

(Citizen 2) "The knights of the Knight's Tower are so cool!"

Gallade grabbed Tinkatink's hammer and handed it back to her.

(Gallade) "Here ya go kid."

(Tinkatink) "Thanks Mr Gallade of the Knight's Tower!"

(Gallade) "All in a day's work! Have a good day everyone! You know who to call if you're in trouble!"

Everyone cheered as the 4 knights left. Arthur walked over to Tristan. Tristan was still shaking in his boots.

(Arthur) "You okay man?"

Tristan calmed himself down.

(Tristan) "Yeah. I'm alright."

(Arthur) "Man. You were right. Those guys are the best of the best."

(Tristan) "No. You were right."

(Arthur) "What do you mean?"

(Tristan) "I'll never be a part of the Knight's Tower."

Tristan ran away.

(Arthur) "Tristan! Wait!"

Arthur chased after Tristan.

Arthur found Tristan in their hideaway. Tristan was lying on the ground, staring at the ceiling.

(Arthur) "Tristan? You alright?"

(Tristan) "No."

(Arthur) "So you froze. It's fine."

(Tristan) "No it's not! A true knight wouldn't freeze like that. No matter how many foes they have to face."

(Arthur) "Quit being ridiculous dude. You're not a real knight. But that doesn't mean you won't be one someday. With some training and confidence, you could be one of the best knights in Ametrine City. Heck, in the whole world!"

(Tristan) "Thanks for the encouragement, Arthur, but maybe some dreams are just that...dreams. I could've helped that Tinkatink and get her hammer back. But I froze, and I cowered. Maybe I'm not knight material."

(Arthur) "Well with that attitude...no you aren't."

Arthur looked outside. The sun was starting to set.

(Arthur) "Look. I'm gonna go home. Stop feeling bad for yourself. You were outnumbered by those Primeape. You had every right to be afraid. I'll see you tomorrow."

Arthur left the hideaway. Tristan continued to stare at the ceiling. However, his eyes began to feel heavy.

(Tristan) "*yawns* I wish I could get another chance to be brave. Just like...those...knights."

Tristan fell asleep, unaware of what was about to come.

Present Day

Night had set. Barnaby, Grimsnarl, Pawmo, Charcadet, and Eli had passed out in the hideaway. Owen noticed Tristan was still awake. He walked over to Tristan. Tristan was staring out a window at Ametrine City in the distance. It was far away, and yet he could still make out the Knight's Tower. However, all the color had been drained from the tower, alongside the rest of the city.

(Owen) "You okay Tristan?"

(Tristan) "Yeah. I just miss everyone back home. Especially my best pal Arthur. I wish I could've done something to prevent this darkness from infecting my city."

(Owen) "I know. I feel the same about Citrine Town. But don't worry man. We're just 2 steps away from reversing this mess. We just have to find the Dusk Mane and the Temple of Light, and then we can cure our homes, and everywhere else effected. You'll be back home before you know it."

(Tristan) "I hope so. I didn't even get to say goodbye to Arthur."

(Owen) "You'll see him again real soon. For now, get some sleep. Tomorrow is another day of searching for the cure."

(Tristan) "Okay. Goodnight Owen."

Owen walked away and got into bed near Eli. Tristan continued to stare out the window.

(Tristan) "I'll save you Arthur. I'll save everyone."

(Mysterious Voice) "The world...is in...danger...The world...is..."

Weeks Earlier

Tristan jolted awake. It was the next morning. He had slept the night inside the hideaway.

(Tristan) "What the? What was that dream?"

(Ametrine Citizen) "*very distant* Ahh."

(Tristan) "What the?"

Tristan looked out a nearby window at Ametrine City. The Knight's tower had been drained of light and color.

(Tristan) "What's going on?"

Tristan arrived in Ametrine City. Everything was different than before. The town had a dark haze surrounding it. All the color and light seemed to have been sucked away. A few Pokémon ran around town as other dark Pokémon chased after them.

(Tristan) "What happened here?!"

Tristan ran across town. All he cared about was finding Arthur. If something bad was happening, he wanted to make sure his best friend was okay.

(Tristan) "Arthur! Where are you?"

Tristan suddenly slid to a halt. He noticed the silhouette of Arthur in the distance.

(Tristan) "Arthur! I'm over here!"

Arthur slowly turned around. He slowly walked towards Tristan. When Arthur got closer, Tristan could see the horrible fate of his friend. All his light and color was gone.

(Tristan) "Ar-Arthur?"

Arthur bolted towards Tristan. Tristan stood frozen in terror. Just then, Ceruledge smacked Arthur away with Slash.

(Tristan) "Arthur!"

(Ceruledge) "Run citizen!"

A bunch of dark Pokémon jumped on Ceruledge. His color started to be drained away.

(Ceruledge) "Run!"

Without thinking twice, Tristan bolted away. He didn't look back as he fled from the city and towards his hideaway. He didn't quite know what was happening, but he knew his friend was gone.

(Tristan) "I didn't even get to say goodbye."

Present Day

Tristan teared up. He walked away from the window, and got ready to sleep. Unfortunately, he looked away just before a glowing pair of blue eyes looked in through the window from the forest.
