Episode 10: Not Fair? NOT FAIR!?
ll
ll
ll
Mamoru ran away from the fighting, along with many other, trying to preserve their lives as real life aliens fought in the Tokyo Bay.
ll
ll
He heard screaming, crying, gunshots, inhuman noises, all coming from different sources behind him, but he didn't look back.
ll
ll
After some more running, he and the others found a bus that was getting people out of the area. The driver promised the drop people off in the places they asked.
ll
ll
Not wanting to argue, Mamoru waited until he and another guy were dropped off in Minato. But when they got off the bus, Mamoru noticed that the guy he had been dropped off with seemed out of it as he slumped off of the bus.
ll
ll
The guy nearly fell as he stumbled off of the bus, tripping and being caught by Mamoru at the bottom.
ll
ll
Mamoru stood the guy up, checking for injuries. He had blood all over his clothes, but... it was dried.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) Woah man are you- HOLY SHIT! Sir! Talk to me, are you okay!?
ll
ll
The man was unfazed, but spoke.
ll
(Bloodied Man) She was right next to me ya know... One of those things... it had just come down to us... and... and she just stared at it as it tore her to shreds... this is her blood all over me...not mine... now I have to go tell her family... goodbye...
ll
ll
The man began quietly sobbing as he walked away from Mamoru, who was left completely shocked. But after a second, he thought "I still might have time!"
ll
ll
He sprinted at full speed to where the girls usually met up to transform, the Hikawa Shrine.
ll
ll
As he ran up the steps, all he thought about was seeing the seven of them standing there, preparing to leave to go and fight.
ll
ll
But at the top of the stairs, there was just Grandpa Hino, still alive and kicking. But that was all... No Usagi, no Rei or any of the other Sailor Guardians.
ll
ll
As he felt defeated, he heard a voice behind him, a deep feminine voice that belonged to one person.
ll
ll
(Makoto) Huh? Mamoru Chiba? Is that you!?
ll
ll
Mamoru turned around. It was Makoto!
ll
ll
He ran right up to her, with tears in his eyes.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) Oh thank the Gods! You're just getting here! Quick! Where are the others!? I need to warn them before-
ll
ll
Upon hearing "the others" Makoto immediately cut Mamoru's plea off.
ll
(Makoto) Sorry Mamoru. Can't help you there. I haven't been with the Sailor Guardians since we disbanded.
ll
Hopelessness tugged at Mamoru's heart strings as he heard the word.
ll
(Mamoru) Disbanded...? Since when!?
ll
ll
ll
(Makoto) Woah, calm down Mamoru. Didn't Usagi ever tell you? We disbanded after we all graduated high school. Then again, Usagi and Rei wanted to reform the group, so I stayed out this time. I want to prolong my freedom, even if it's for a little bit.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) So... you... You sold them out? YOU SOLD OUT YOUR FRIENDS AND THE EARTH FOR A FUCKING FIGHTING CAREER!? How self-absorbed can you be!?
ll
Makoto seemed to take offense at Mamoru's words, lowering her tone to an icy threat.
ll
(Makoto) Watch it Chiba. Your little girlfriend isn't here to protect your ass, so if I beat you here and now, you won't become a doctor for Usagi.
ll
ll
Hearing the end of the threat sent Mamoru over the edge. His despair... his dread... his anger... his grief... it all came together to summon a demon from his own past. As Mamoru rushed to punch Makoto, she prepared to break him, but as he rushed her, he was enveloped in a blue light, wrapping around him as he became the true form of his past. His body was switched with the one that had felt all of the same emotions from his previous life.
ll
ll
His skin felt stronger, he felt faster, stronger...
ll
ll
Makoto watched as Mamoru turned from human, into something else, something she had never seen. Mamoru looked like he had been covered in a second skin, one that was charcoal grey, with gold pointing out of his helmet, elbows and various other parts of his body. A scream of frustration and rage came from Mamoru's new form, but his voice had mixed with something else, something ancient.
ll
ll
As he approached her, Makoto jumped and changed the direction of Mamoru's fist, forcing Mamoru's new form to smash his hand into the ground, causing fractures to appear all around him as a blue energy flashed from the fractures.
ll
ll
ll
Seeing an opportunity to strike back, Makoto sent a fatal blow to Mamoru's neck base. Something that would've permanently altered him if it didn't kill him. But as she landed the blow, nothing happened, she felt the impact and jumped off of him.
ll
ll
But Mamoru was unfazed. He turned around and with quick speed, grabbed her by the neck, and threw her towards the shrine. As she was thrown, she hit the brick ground beneath her before tumbling before the Shrine.
ll
ll
Instinctively, Mamoru drew a sword from nowhere. A sword, physical, but made from pure energy.
ll
ll
Makoto watched as Mamoru examined the sword before looking at the smoking Tokyo bay in the distance.
ll
ll
Mamoru sheathed the sword. But he was too angry to just let Makoto go. He began to slowly walk towards her.
ll
Makoto's head pulsed with pain as she recovered from the landing. He had thrown her with such force, that when she hit the ground, it was like a truck had ran into her back at full speed.
ll
Makoto, feeling the throbbing pain in her throat and back, moved herself backwards and hid in the Shrine.
ll
Grandpa Hino, during the fighting, ran inside, and began praying for safety.
ll
ll
With the anger and other emotions still flaring within Mamoru, he continued to walk towards the Shrine, ready to get revenge for what Usagi might've gone through because of her. But a sound of engines above Mamoru stopped him, and he looked up.
ll
ll
Mamoru looked up, and saw the three flying beings from before, with wings of steel. Below him, at the base of the stairs, were Garuda, and two other beings.
ll
ll
Garuda was looking up at Mamoru's form, motioning for him to follow her, but he heard a voice, a voice that took all of his dread away.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Mamo... follow us. There is something you need to see before you go any further.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) Usako!? Is that you!? Are you okay, where are you!?-
ll
ll
(Usagi) I'm ... right in front of you.
ll
ll
Garuda waved to Mamoru.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) What the- You're- which means- I- I have so many questions right now.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Well come with us so we can get those questions of yours answered.
ll
ll
Mamoru look back at Makoto, how scooted back from where she was sitting, terrified of what was looking at her.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) And her?
ll
ll
(Usagi) I'm workin on it, but for now, just leave her be.
ll
ll
ll
Mamoru stared at her, seething with anger towards her, but settled with flipping her off before he began to walk away.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) Can she hear me in this thing?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Nope, just us.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) Okay
ll
ll
As Mamoru descended the stairs, Makoto got up and made sure he was gone with the other things she saw.
ll
ll
She walked home, wondering if what she saw was real or a trick he had made up...
ll
ll
(Makoto) Regardless... I fought too hard for my freedom, I won't relinquish it without a proper fight. But damn...
ll
ll
Makoto felt her slightly sore tailbone...
ll
ll
(Makoto) Since when could he throw someone like me so effortlessly? And that elbow should've paralyzed him, or even killed him! So how...?
ll
ll
As Garuda stood in front of Setsuna's apartment, Mamoru grew confused.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) Um... why are we here?
ll
ll
(Usagi) You'll see...
ll
ll
As the group entered the empty apartment, they went through the portal connected to the Moon and suddenly, Mamoru felt a change in pressure and gravity.
ll
ll
As they walked to the main area to meet the Lotus, Mamoru was mesmerized.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) Usako... where are we?
ll
ll
(Usagi) We're on the Moon.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) How!?
ll
(Usagi) I don't exactly know how the portal works, but we're here now. The Lotus explained how... but I kinda forgot.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) The Lotus!?- None of this makes any sense! What happened after left two years ago!? The Sailor Guardians split up? There's a new enemy? You're fighting the enemy with these!- These things!? I was inside one of them-
ll
ll
Mamoru was having trouble comprehending what the last few years have been for Usagi. But the thoughts disappear for a second as the group walks into what looks like an ancient Throne Room.
ll
ll
(Usagi) I... I'm sorry for not telling you everything, but I did it for you. I didn't want you to drop everything just to come back and comfort me.
ll
ll
As the Lotus approached the group in the throne room, Usagi looked at the Lotus, then back to Mamoru.
ll
ll
(Usagi) I'll explain everything when we get back.
ll
ll
Everyone walked to meet the Lotus at her assortment of consoles and screens.
ll
ll
ll
Mamoru watched as the others, in their odd suits of armor similar to his, walked up to this woman, who wore a large helmet, who greeted everyone.
ll
ll
(Lotus) Everyone, it's good to see you're all uninjured. Were you able to contain the Sentient fleets? Because a Warframe has disappeared from the vault. He is-
ll
ll
After tapping on her consoles, The Lotus looked at everyone, her tone worried. But when her eyes laid upon Mamoru in his form, her voice seemed to calm.
ll
ll
(Lotus) I see. The one who wielded Excalibur has returned.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) Excuse me? Ma'am? What is this? Who are you? What is Excalibur and what happened on Earth!?
ll
ll
There was a silence as Mamoru's words echoed throughout the chamber.
ll
ll
Although everyone felt he had been rude, they couldn't blame him, each of them had the same experience, so who were they to judge over him and his reaction.
ll
ll
(Lotus) I will answer any questions you may have. But, might I see what you look like, and learn who you are?
ll
ll
(Mamoru) Sure... just...
ll
ll
Mamoru looked down and felt all over himself.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) Uhh... Um... how do I get out of this thing?
ll
ll
All of the girls suppressed their laugher at the fond memories of getting stuck within their Warframes.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Mamo... all you have to do is unfocus your energy.
ll
ll
(Rei) Yeah... like Usagi when it came to school when we were kids, just relax and allow yourself to unfocus your energies.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Shut up, Rei.
ll
ll
The pairs bickering relaxed Mamoru, and he teleported from within the Warframe, standing next to it as it stood static.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) Oh. Okay... that was... interesting.
ll
ll
(Lotus) I see you now as the Operator of Excalibur, but what is your name, for future reference.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) My name? It's Mamoru. Mamoru Chiba.
ll
ll
(Lotus) I see. Well then Mamoru, soon, you will be outfitted for combat, and prepared for battle, wherever it may be.
ll
ll
Usagi got between Mamoru and the Lotus.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Hold on Lotus, he won't be fighting with us. He currently resides across the world from us and lives with normal humans. Coordination will be impossible, or extremely tricky if he begins to fight.
ll
ll
(Rei) Usagi! What the hell!? The more of us there are, then the faster fights will be! Let him fight with us.
ll
ll
(Michiru) Now hold on Rei, I believe Usagi has a point. Currently, the only portal to the Moon is located within Setsuna's apartment. Not only is it the only quickest way to the Moon, but if Mamoru were to use the second fastest way, then he would immediately be spotted by others. Remember, not only does he live with regular humans, but he also lives in a very populated area. If he were to start fighting alongside us, then he would have decide one of three options. One, he would have to give up on fighting alongside us until he finishes school, two, he has to go somewhere where he can activate the Archwing without being seen, or lastly, he would have to quit school and return to Minato. There are no other options.
ll
ll
As his options were given to him. Usagi stood inside of Garuda, staring at Mamoru through her helmet.
ll
ll
She couldn't stand it.
ll
ll
Usagi appeared from her Warframe and walked up to Mamoru, grabbing him by the collar, and dragging him out of the throne room, not listening to anything else the others had to say or suggest.
ll
ll
The thought of Mamoru giving up on school... just hearing it made Usagi fear the worst.
ll
ll
As she passed the threshold of the Throne Room, now in a hallway that opened up to the Moon's landscape and a view of the blue Earth.
ll
ll
She let go of Mamoru's collar and he ripped away from her.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) Usako! What's gotten into you? Why did you just drag me away from them, I don't get it, I can-
ll
ll
(Usagi)NO!
ll
Her shout seemed like an explosion in the hall. She hadn't realized that tears were already falling from her eyes, but her voice did not tremble, as angry and terrified as she was.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) What the...? I didn't even say anything, what do you mean, "No"? Usako...?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Mamo... I know you well enough to know that, if I had let you speak back there... you would've went with the third option... in a heartbeat.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) And how are you so sure?
ll
ll
(Usagi) BECAUSE! Because that's just you... ever since we found each other... Both times, whether you knew it or not... you came to my rescue. And you're doing it again now... at the cost of your dreams...
ll
ll
(Mamoru) Yes, because I want to be here! To protect you!
ll
ll
(Usagi) But I can fight! I can fight with the tools I have and defend the Earth while you're away. I won't let you do this. The other times, yes, I needed it, but you were there, already, and there were no costs.
ll
ll
Usagi looked out to the blue radiance of the Earth.
ll
ll
(Usagi) A lot has changed while you've been away. But I held on, promising myself that I wouldn't allow my problems to get in the way of your dreams.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) That... was on purpose!? You suffered alone because you didn't want to bother me!?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Mamo... you have to understand... My worst fear is that I become the reason that you don't achieve your dream. If that were to pass... If it were to pass, I would never be able to forgive myself. So I'll do anything in my power and my will, to make sure, that your dream becomes a reality.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) But what about YOU!? I know you, and you hurt, it gets bad, and when you act strong like this, not knowing what the future might hold, you get reckless. I just, want to be here in case anything happens.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Mamo... I know it's been a while, but I've changed since you left. I got stronger, I've done some pretty incredible things and have gone pretty far... I can do this. You just have to trust me. Trust me to be strong enough to protect this place while you're gone, and be safe enough to still be here when you return.
ll
ll
Usagi walked up to Mamoru, and the two held each other.
ll
ll
In a shaky voice, Usagi reassured Mamoru.
ll
ll
(Usagi) I-I know this is hard... but please... trust me when I say... everything... Everything will be alright, just you watch.
ll
ll
Mamoru held Usagi tightly as the two stood in the radiance of the blue Earth. He wanted so badly to turn her down, walk right back into that throne room and choose the third option, but when Usagi said that she'd do anything to make sure his dream came true, he felt that if he did accept the Lotus' offer, she'd never forgive herself, breaking apart everything she had built herself up to be, doing her best to adapt and not worry him.
ll
ll
After a little while, the two separated.
ll
ll
Usagi wiped a tear from her eye, as well as wiping one from Mamoru's.
ll
(Usagi) Come, we can't keep them waiting forever.
ll
ll
As the two walked back into the Throne Room, everyone had exited their Warframe's waiting with anticipation.
ll
ll
After Usagi announced that Mamoru and Excalibur wouldn't be joining them, everyone respected Mamoru's decision, except for Rei.
ll
ll
Rei seemed annoyed when Usagi made the announcement, scoffing at Usagi as she finished.
ll
ll
After everything was said and done, it was decided that, Mamoru would finish the remainder of his schooling, then join them at his earliest convenience.
ll
ll
As everyone headed towards the portal, Rei felt a hot hand softly grab her shoulder, stopping her in her tracks.
ll
ll
As Rei turned around, she was met with Usagi, who seemed liker her usual self.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Hey Rei, wanna ride back to the Shrine?
ll
ll
(Rei) Sure, that would be nice.
ll
ll
ll
After returning to Earth, the two got inside of Usagi's car, which seemed normal.
ll
ll
When Usagi started the engine, she spoke to Rei in her normal, soft and cheery tone, but now, there was an underlying fury beneath her tone.
ll
ll
(Usagi) So Rei... I wanted to talk to you.
ll
ll
(Rei) Yeah? What's up?
ll
ll
(Usagi) You seemed pretty adamant for Mamoru to join us, care to explain why?
ll
ll
Usagi began reversing out of the parking slowly.
ll
ll
(Rei) Well, I thought that, the more the merrier, right?
ll
(Rei) And, his Warframe, Excalibur? Seemed super strong!
ll
ll
(Usagi)Is that so? Is there really no other reason?
ll
Usagi drove towards the shrine.
ll
ll
(Rei) No, not really. That was pretty much it, other than the fact that he should be trained as quickly as possible, just in case a war breaks out between us and them.
ll
ll
(Usagi) I see... and I understand your viewpoint, but... I won't let Mamoru give up on his dream, not now, when he is so close.
ll
ll
ll
After a change in topic and some more pleasantries, the two said their farewells for the time being and Rei got out of Usagi's car and Usagi put the car in drive.
ll
ll
But as Usagi pulled away, Rei hears a muffled screaming and shouting from behind her as Usagi's tires screeched on the pavement as she raced away from the Shrine.
ll
ll
(Rei) What the hell... Was that... *Sigh* I'm too tired for this right now. But still... it isn't fair to the rest of us that Mamoru gets to continue his life on Earth while we're shot into space to deal with the enemy.
ll
ll
Rei walked through the Hikawa Shrine's gates, throwing herself onto her bed to deal with her drained self, physically and emotionally. But after only minutes of laying on her bed, she was awoken by Grandpa Hino shaking her awake.
ll
ll
(Grandpa Hino) Rei? OH REI! Thank the Gods you're here! There were demons within the Shrine earlier!
ll
Rei shot up at the mention of demons.
ll
(Rei) Where!? What did they look like!?
ll
ll
Grandpa Hino shook where he stood, fear controlling his mind.
ll
(Grandpa Hino) They looked like monsters, trying to be human! There was one here, throwing one of your old friends around. But then MORE came and took him away!
ll
ll
(Rei) Huh? One? And he threw around an old friend? What did it look like.
ll
ll
(Grandpa Hino) H-His entire body the color of smoke, with gold lining parts of his body and creating a golden horn on his head! He wielded a sword of energy, filled with hatred.
ll
ll
As Grandpa Hino described the being, Rei connected the dots and realized, he was describing Mamoru's warframe... Excalibur.
ll
ll
(Rei) And... who was he beating down...?
ll
ll
(Grandpa Hino) Oh the poor girl... he was fighting your old friend, Makoto Kino.
ll
ll
(Rei) (Shit. I have to go talk to her.)
ll
ll
(Grandpa Hino) You didn't see the blood on the tiles outside?
ll
ll
(Rei) Blood? The demon made Makoto bleed!?
ll
ll
(Grandpa Hino) I believe when he threw her over to the Shrine, she broke her nose on impact. And somewhere else.
ll
ll
(Grandpa Hino) I called an ambulance for her, but she declined it as she limped home and caught a cab.
ll
ll
ll
(Rei) Well...
ll
ll
Rei got up from the bed.
ll
(Rei) I'm gonna go check on her. She may be built like a tank and hit as hard, but she's still human.
ll
ll
(Grandpa Hino) Thank you Rei, but what about the demons? They're still out there!
ll
ll
(Rei) Grandfather... I don't think those were demons. I don't think they're even from Earth.
ll
ll
(Grandpa Hino) Aliens... and how are you so sure?
ll
ll
(Rei) I watched them come down from the sky and fight other Aliens in the harbor today.
ll
Grandpa Hino looked even more shocked before calming down. He put a hand before Rei
ll
(Grandpa Hino) Don't say any more. I might have a heart attack if I hear more...
ll
ll
(Grandpa Hino) I'm gonna go pray for the evening. Join me if you'd like when you return.
ll
ll
(Rei) Sure.
ll
ll
Rei walked out of her room and to the base of the Shrine.
ll
ll
She pulled out her phone and hesitantly called Usagi.
ll
ll
(Usagi) This is Usagi, who's this?
ll
ll
Even though her voice was cheerful and sweet, Rei still felt a bit of anger in it.
ll
ll
(Rei) Usagi, we have to talk to Makoto.
ll
ll
Over the phone, Usagi's voice immediately went flat and sounded annoyed.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Why?
ll
ll
(Rei) I dunno, maybe it has to do with the fact that her blood is the tiles of the Shrine after Mamoru nearly tried to kill her. Just a guess.
ll
After Rei spoke, Usagi seemed to go quiet for a second.
ll
(Usagi) *Deep Sigh* Fine... but if she threatens to reveal our identities, I might not be so willing to let her go.
ll
ll
(Rei) Look, we'll deal with this, but we're not gonna hurt her. She used to be Sailor Guardian, we should convince her to become a Tenno, like us.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Used to. Look, I asked for help from all of you. No one responded, but you still came after a long time and so did Mina... but her, she has seen what going on, but doesn't care.
ll
ll
(Rei) I asked her for help too, and she also ignored me, be that doesn't matter now. Let's just go and talk to her. Maybe she's not as bad as she is on the phone.
ll
ll
There was shuffling around on Usagi's end.
ll
ll
(Usagi) I'll be there a few minutes.
ll
ll
After ten minutes, Usagi picked up Rei, and the two headed towards Makoto's luxury home in Tokyo, when, as they approached, it began to rain as the night began.
ll
ll
As the two got to her large home, they parked in her driveway and walked up to her door.
ll
ll
Rei tried to put on a smile to greet Makoto, but Usagi was having none of it, not changing her face from the annoyed expression she held.
ll
ll
Rei just let her be and knocked on Makoto's door as the rain hit their jacket hoods.
ll
ll
A few seconds later, Makoto opened the door confused.
ll
ll
She scanned their faces as the two greeted her. Rei said a friendly hello whereas Usagi flatly said hi.
ll
ll
(Makoto) Wow! Rei Hino? And... is that... USAGI Tsukino!? What the hell?! Come in, come in!
ll
ll
Makoto excitedly welcomed the tow into her home.
ll
ll
She led them to a living room where she sat them down, putting an icepack on her back and head.
ll
ll
(Makoto) SOoo... what brings you two out here anyway? Haven't seen you since we disbanded.
ll
ll
At the mention of their disbanding, Usagi seemed to grip her knees as she listened to Makoto.
ll
ll
(Rei) Yeah, it has been a while, and... unfortunately, we need you to come back beca-
ll
ll
(Makoto) Fuck that! You saw the future! We all did! After she reinstates the Silver Millenium, then we're all just gonna be her bodyguards until the end of time! So until then, I'll do whatever the hell I-
ll
ll
(Usagi) MAKOTO! THE FUTURE!? IT WAS A FUCKING LIE! Get over yourself!
ll
ll
All the fire of rebellion that Makoto had dissipated, but not entirely.
ll
ll
(Makoto) The hell are you on about?
ll
ll
(Usagi) The Silver Millenium, the kingdoms, the other Sailors, IT'S ALL BULLSHIT!
ll
ll
(Makoto) But we went to the future. How-
ll
ll
(Usagi) I don't fucking know, but what I do know? Is that everything you know about our past lives is a lie, implanted within us by some unknown entity.
ll
ll
(Makoto) But that's...
ll
ll
A smirk rose upon Makoto's face.
ll
ll
(Makoto) So what? Why should I care at all? Real or not, I'm done having to give up my life to protect everyone. I'm sick of it. There's nothing in it for us. And jeez Usagi, you sound as mad as Mamoru was when I threatened to kick his ass if he didn't stop criticizing me, like you are now... before-
ll
ll
A sudden chill filled the air as Makoto laughed. But at the same time, Rei could hear Usagi ask Makoto with her usually cheerful tone, but there was malice behind it.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Makoto... I don't think I heard you correctly. Did I just hear you say that you threatened Mamo?
ll
(Makoto) Sure did, he was so angry when I told him that we disbanded, and that whatever was happening with you all, wasn't my proble-
ll
When Rei heard Makoto speak, she could feel the energy radiating off of Usagi as she summoned Garuda. Rei looked to see Usagi already preparing to jump at Makoto.
ll
ll
With her quick judgement, Rei summoned Ember, and held Usagi back as Makoto jumped up from her, terrified.
ll
ll
Makoto watched as Usagi's voice came from a being with golden talons attatched to her hands, their blades whipping the air as it slashed at her, with Usagi's voice screaming death threats to her, one of the more terrifying one's being "Come here Makoto, I'll make you fuckin disappear. No one will ever find your body, after I slowly cut you into a million tiny pieces!"
ll
ll
Makoto watched as another held her back, using Rei's voice to tell the first to calm down.
ll
ll
But unfortunately, the one with talons get's a hand loose. She retracts the talon to her arm and gets close enough to send a painful blow to Makoto's face.
ll
ll
Ember fails to hold Garuda back as she punches Makoto, sending her to the floor as she puts a hand to her face.
ll
ll
After the punch, Usagi sends Garuda back to the Moon, and Rei follows up by doing the same.
ll
ll
Makoto stares at the two, her face filled with horror.
ll
ll
But Usagi looks down at her with a cold stare.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Trying to talk to you was a fucking mistake. You're so wrapped up in trying to convince yourself that you need- NO, deserve to be a normal human with a normal life, but you know, damn well, that you will NEVER be normal.
ll
ll
As Usagi turns for the door, Rei gets in front of her furious.
ll
ll
(Rei) Usagi! What the fuck is wrong with you!? You shouldn't use the Warframe to threaten people!-
ll
ll
(Usagi) Rei, I'm sorry, but she? She was a special case, a VERY special case. If you want I can give you a lift to the Shrine.
ll
ll
Knowing how far it was to the Shrine, Rei took the ride because it was convenient.
ll
ll
As the two got into the car, Usagi, very coldly, said...
ll
ll
(Usagi)Rei, just know... if she tries to rats us out, just know she's gonna go missing. She'll never be found and will forever be a missing person's case.
ll
ll
(Rei) I won't let that happen.
ll
ll
(Usagi) It won't, as long as she stays quiet about what she saw.
ll
ll
(Rei) I won't let you hurt her.

ll
(Usagi) Say that when you realize that, after becoming a wanted criminal, there is no way in hell you can have a normal life, ever again. Or at least for hundreds of years to come. Meaning that you won't even be allowed to show your face in public, let alone the Shrine or around your grandfather.
ll
ll
The two drove home in silence, as the rain pattered the windows.
ll
ll
The rain stopped as the two got to the Shrine.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Hey Rei? Before you go, just know that, I'm sorry that I got out of hand. But when someone like that is laughing in my face, threatens someone I love and doesn't care that the world is in danger? I don't care who they are. They are allowing the situation to become harder out of stubbornness and ignorance. And that's unforgivable.
ll
ll
ll
(Rei) Sounds a lot like you with Mamoru.
ll
ll
(Usagi) I know... but he is a different case. Look at how we've handled things so far. We take turns out of the week and month to go out there and fight. We've defeated them numerous times and will continue to do so.
ll
ll
(Usagi) I know I'm being stubborn and selfish by making this decision, but I don't mind. Mamo has dreamt of becoming someone he feels I can be proud of. I just... it's my worst fear to make him unable to accomplish his dream. It terrifies me to know that, one day, Mamo will wonder what would've happened had he just stayed in school. Even if just for a second he regrets leaving school, it's more than I'm willing to allow.
ll
ll
(Usagi) I know that in the past, Mamo helped us as Tuxedo Mask. But things are different now. He's living across the sea and has no way of just coming over to help us.
ll
ll
(Rei) Jeez... and what does he think about all of this? Surely he initially fought to join us.
ll
ll
(Usagi) He did, but still. I won't allow him to give up on his dreams for me. Instead, I want to protect his dream, by using the Warframes. That's all I want to do.
ll
ll
ll
(Rei) Oh? And what makes you say he would be joining us exclusively for you?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Do you really have to ask? He's the same as when we were teenagers. If I was in trouble, he would drop everything to come help me. Even now, he's said that if he had known about us splitting up, that he would've come back to Japan right then and there. It's one of his most beautiful and romantic charms, but at the same time, it's one of his greatest faults. He's willing to drop everything in his life, not realizing how careless he might end up being.
ll
ll
(Rei) I see.
ll
Rei got out of the car, said her farewell to Usagi, then walked up the stairs of the Shrine.
ll
ll
Rei had more questions, but she would ask them at a later time. For now, she joined Grandpa Hino in his prayer ritual, finally relaxing after all that had happened. As she sat in prayer, it was like all of the stress and emotions that had come over her drained away, only leaving a feeling of peace and acceptance.
ll
ll
At home, Usagi threw herself onto her bed. She felt a little bit of regret about using Garuda to punch Makoto directly in the face, but she giggled to herself, remembering how Makoto crumbled like a sack of potatoes.
ll
She was so angry, but that punch, for the first time in a while, relieved her of some of the anger, bitterness and resentment she had held onto for years.
ll
ll
Her phone rang as she got a call. When she saw who was calling, she got a little nervous to answer.
ll
ll
*Phone Buzzes*
ll
(Usagi) Hm..? Mamo? (Did Makoto call the cops and now I'm wanted for assault? That was quick...)
ll
ll
She answers the phone, expecting Mamoru to yell at her for becoming a wanted criminal. But he seems calm.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Um... hello?
ll
ll
(Mamoru) Hey there, Usako.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Hey Mamo, what's up?
ll
ll
(Mamoru) I have... something that I want to confess...
ll
ll
(Usagi) Oh... okay, what is it Mamo?
ll
ll
ll
Usagi hears Mamoru got quiet for a brief moment before he takes a deep breath and comes back to the phone.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) I... did something... at the Shrine, when I entered that... Warframe? Was it? Anyway... your friend Makoto was there and well... she pushed me a little over the edge and... I may have almost killed her...
ll
Before Mamoru can continue, Usagi chimes in.
ll
(Usagi) Well... I may have almost done the same thing... only... I kinda punched her at her place... using a Warframe.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) WHAT!?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Well, Grandpa Hino told Rei what happened after I dropped her off from Setsuna's apartment. Then she called to tell me, then we went over there.
ll
(Mamoru) YOU WHAT!?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Well, we tried to get her to join all of us, but then she threw it in our faces and bitched about the future. But then she boasted about how she threatened you and, well, you can imagine what happened next.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) So...*Sigh* We both attacked the same person after she got to us, emotionally?
ll
(Usagi) Pretty much. And if she ever tries to reveal our identities, then she'll go missing for good.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) C'mon Usako, we can't kill someone over that. Besides, how what proof does she even have that you two were there?
ll
(Usagi) Still, I won't have someone like her ruin what we all have right now. Sure, our lives aren't completely normal, but we still have somewhat normal lives, even with the Sentients throwing their little soldiers at us.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) Sentients? That's what they're called? What are they anyway?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Nice try Mamo, but knowing will only make you want to join us. But as for Makoto? I'm serious. We all have lives we want to live, but it's not fair to those without power for us to refuse to use the powers we were given.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) Bur I have power. I could help, but you strictly don't want me to. Doesn't that put me on the same level as Makoto? Knowing that something is happening, but doing nothing to help?
ll
ll
(Usagi) But like I said. We all have lives we want to live. If you were to disrupt what you have with your degree, then what would you have to come back to when this fight is over. You need to stay in school so that, when you fight alongside us, you'll have something to come back to.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) But... isn't Ami kinda like that right now? A well-respected doctor who's still in Japan?
ll
ll
(Usagi) I would reach out to her, but... I kinda... don't know where she is.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) Hm... do you still have her number? Have you tried calling her?
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) When I first met the Lotus and learned what was coming our way, I contacted all of the Sailor Guardians. No one cared at the time. But after a while, Mina came around and Rei cam afterwards.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) I see... and after contacting them, you gave up?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Yeah, I found that, doing things with the three I had to help, seemed like enough until the others came around, or didn't.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) So... what now?
ll
ll
Usagi tapped Mamoru's nose, forcing him to lose his train of thought.
ll
ll
(Usagi) You, need to focus on how to spend the rest of your trip here. And maybe one of these days, if something comes our way, I'll teach you how to control what we call the Warframes.
ll
ll
Mamoru looked at her, conflicted and worried.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) I... I trust all of you. But I mean it, when I return for good, I want to be by your side, backing you up with everything I've got.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Yeah... when the time comes, it'll be like we're the Sailor Guardians again.
ll
Mamoru's expression softened.
ll
(Mamoru) And on that note... what should we do next Usako?
ll
ll
In response to his question, Usagi became excited, telling Mamoru all of the things they could do the next day...
