Episode 11: The Revelations of a Healer
ll
ll
ll
On Earth, Usagi spent the week with Mamoru, taking their minds off of what happened on the first day.
ll
ll
On the Moon, as the Lotus monitored for Sentient Movement, she thought about how Usagi fought to keep Mamoru off of the front lines.
ll
ll
It reminded of her of a time long ago, the last time the Tenno were active, an Orokin who lived, even after the fall of the empire...
ll
ll
Ballas was his name. He had established an entire cult that nearly took over the origin system, all because he loved her. He went mad with power, but still wanted to love the person that she mimicked, an Archimedean of the Orokin Council, known as the Seven. Her name was Marugulis. She was the original mother to the Tenno after the Zarimen Ten-Zero Incident. She defended the Tenno from the clutches of the Orokin, up until they sentenced her to the Jade Light, one of the worst sentences known throughout the Solar System, even within such an Advanced Civilization, it was feared by all, but Marugulis, she accepted it, as a consequence of defending the Children of the Zarimen, as if they were her own children.
ll
ll
ll
Usagi's determination to keep her loved one off the battlefield reminded her of Merugulis and Ballas, but Usagi was different. She was prepared to do whatever it took to keep him off of the battlefield, but not only that, she was able to also convince him, without force, that he could wait to join her. She was willing to do anything to defend Mamoru and keep him safe, like Ballas, but was a gentle protector, using no force to convince him to wait, similar to Marugulis.
ll
ll
Human emotion intrigued the Lotus. Over time, as she lead the Tenno into battle and acted as a guide, a protector and even a mother to them, she too began to notice that she could express and sometimes feel human emotion.
ll
ll
When she first took over as the Mother to the Tenno, she had originally wanted to follow the orders of the Sentients. To destroy the Tenno before they could come to be strong enough to oppose the Sentient's wrath.
ll
ll
But after seeing the Tenno, and communicating with them, she began to develop a motherly bond with them, an actual feeling she felt, even though she herself was a biomechanical organism.
ll
ll
At first the emotions and different feelings were alien to her, something she herself felt were not necessary to function, a useless precept that should be removed. But as she took on the role of Marugulis, as the Lotus, she saw the emotions felt by the Tenno, and instead of pushing them away, she became interested and intrigued by human emotion.
ll
ll
It felt like an entire life time ago, but here she was again, being intrigued by the emotions of the ones she thinks of, as her children.
ll
ll
The Lotus continues to let the thoughts wonder in her Sentient mind, wondering about as she watches over the blue planet, slightly different than before, but nonetheless, it was the Home of the current generation of Tenno, regardless of how few of them there are.
ll
ll
ll
Back on Earth, as the week came to a close, Usagi and the others all went to the gate to see Mamoru off.
ll
ll
ll
Usagi was willing to admit that she was a little depressed, seeing Mamoru leave again. But it wasn't anything like the previous time he had left, when she was by herself, knowing that her friends too, would soon leave her in pursuit of their own desires.
ll
But this time was different. Sure, one of her friends grew spiteful and mean, holding onto her human life as if she were normal, and the other was too busy and elusive to ever find, but she now had a few of her friends back in her life, able to fight alongside her through the tough battles ahead.
ll
ll
As Mamoru said his goodbyes, he too felt a difference in the air, a more positive feeling in the air, something that seemed to soothe his worries as he headed to his flight back to the U.S.
ll
ll
Meanwhile... Many miles away in Japan...
After yet another long and tough shift, Ami Mizuno walked into her high rise apartment in the late morning, tossing off her flats and throwing her tired body onto her bed, ready to drift off the sleep until she was yanked back into the hospital for another round of difficult surgery procedures.
ll
ll
As she drifted to sleep, she was taken into a dream, something she thought might've been impossible for someone such as herself, for how long she was usually awake.
ll
ll
ll
In her dream, Ami is in a cave, where a small waterfall falls and flows before here, somehow illuminating the cave, giving her the ability to see around herself.
ll
ll
(?) So... you became a healer in this life as well?
ll
ll
Ami heard a woman's voice from behind her, echoing around the cave.
ll
ll
Ami turned around quickly. The dream felt so real, yet so fictional. She couldn't tell what this was, but she had the idea it wasn't normal.
ll
ll
(Ami) Yes, I am a doctor in this life. But who are you? And how do you know who and what I am?
ll
ll
Ami asked her questions as she turned to face the source of the voice.
ll
ll
Ami was almost at a loss for words as she looked at the source of the voice.
ll
ll
The person wore armor that covered her body from head to toe, colored in Black, grey and gold accents, with small red details around her body. Her helmet seemed to glow towards the front, almost exactly like a heartbeat registering on a cardiograph, but there were also other parts on her armor that seemed to glow.
ll
ll
(?) I was once a healer, just like you, but for a different purpose.
ll
(Ami) I see... and what makes you believe that you are once again required?
ll
ll
(?) Because, they're back. They return once again attempt to turn every living thing into their livestock, believing it will satisfy their revenge...
ll
ll
(Ami) You're being pretty vague about all of this... who and what are you? And who is coming back revenge?
ll
ll
ll
(?) I see... you're still blinded by our former masters...and all of the material things this life has to offer... Pathetic.
ll
ll
The person within the armor seemed to look around for a second before looking back at Ami.
ll
ll
(Ami) Excuse me!? Who the hell are you calling pathetic!? You're a ghost from the past, you don't matter anymore!
ll
ll
She seemed to lower herself to the floor.
ll
(Ami) What are you-
ll
ll
There was a flash of light as someone manifested next to the suit of armor, a person.
ll
ll
(?) Us. We're pathetic. we've become entranced by the present, getting promotions, fame, popularity... all because of what we think is to come. Because the reality of it is much worse than you think it is.
ll
ll
When the light faded and Ami readjusted to the dim light within the cave, she looked to see a version of herself.
ll
ll
But she was different. She has a small pair of reading glasses that seemed futuristic and ancient at the same time. She had longer hair, more defined muscles and a metallic scar on her right cheek, as if she had been injured, but her body healed the wound with metal instead of scar tissue.
ll
ll
(Ami) What the hell...
ll
ll
(Ancient Ami) So what'll it be Ami? Will you continue to ignore your duty. To protect the lives of others and heal those that have been injured, saving the lives of anyone and everyone that you can? Or will you ignore me? Going back to that pathetic, sad life of seeking fame and status because you want to be supposedly "normal".
ll
(Ami) Y-Your not real! You're some attempt to draw out into the world and-
ll
Ami's other self seemed to teleport in front of her and slap her across the face. The sting from the slap spreading across Ami's cheek as she felt her face.
ll
ll
(Ancient Ami) So, did THAT feel "not real"? Because this is reality. Everything you're running from IS fake. We used to be an angel for the injured and dying... We were their saviors and healers... but look at us now... people are prevented from accessing our healing by means of finances or status's. This is NOT who we are, and it ends NOW.
ll
ll
(Ami) But what about the Silver Millenium? The others can do what they want. I know for sure that we'll all be a part of her perfect little kingdom on the Moon
ll
Ami saw as her other self seemed to have taken extreme offense at the mention of the Silver Millenium, tensing her face as she narrowed her eyes. Instead of her and Ami's softer, gentler tone, the ancient Ami's words seemed to seethe with held back anger.
ll
ll
(Ancient Ami) Don't you ever allow that name to ever leave your fuckin lips again. Those bastards made people like us suffer. Turned us against our own to protect them, experimented on our friends, ripped us from our families... They were evil, cruel, and it will never be brought back.
ll
As her ancient self seethed with anger, Ami was taken aback by her words.
ll
ll
(Ancient Ami) There will never be another Silver Millenium. Only a Moon where we and others like us protect that blue planet from harm and exploitation.
ll
ll
(Ami) Other's like us? The Sailor Guardians!?
ll
ll
(Ancient Ami) If that's what you know them to be, then yes, but soon, you'll know them by different names.
ll
ll
(Ancient Ami) Forget what you know. You think you deserve a normal life? Then go live an average life, but do it as you protect and heal your comrades.
ll
ll
(Ancient Ami) Speaking of Comrades. They're getting too bold. You need to join them, up there. Now go, make us worth the title of "Healer."
ll
Ami woke up with cold sweats. She couldn't make sense of it all. Was anything in the dream real? Was it all a fabrication of her worries of having to leave her normal life behind?
ll
ll
(Ami) Live a Normal life huh...?
ll
ll
She couldn't hide it, every so often, she wished she could fly free, leaving all of the stresses of her normal life behind. Leave behind all of the gruesome scenes, the death, the losses, the times she failed to save someone...
ll
ll
It all wore her down like water droplets dripping through stone. Everything was just a little more, another thing that made her want to return to the life of fighting evil to save the world. She went into this field, working herself to the bone in order to save lives and to heal others... but everything took a toll on her. Everything, from the hopefulness in the eyes of a lover, to seeing a family's hearts break over the loss of one of their own. She wanted to save everyone that laid before her, but she couldn't save everyone, no matter how hard she tried, or how stubborn she was. Her precision and accuracy could only save so many... There were even days when people pleaded with her to save someone who was too late, and too far gone to be saved, and she would have to tell the desperate to their faces, watching them accept their unfortunate reality as they walked away, or just sunk to the floor...
ll
ll
Even after two years of this, she couldn't numb herself to all of the pain and suffering around her. But when Usagi called her, to just talk or wanting to make plans, Ami felt to embarrassed, and too envious of Usagi to ever face her, let alone hear the sound of her voice. Even when Usagi called her and asked her for her help, she once again felt like she was needed at the hospital, she didn't have the time to be messing around with Usagi. They were adults now, and she had people who relied on her to save their lives.
ll
ll
When there was a "unexplainable" catastrophic even near Tokyo harbor, the hospital became flooded with dying patients, blood stained every floor and every wall. There was so much screaming and crying... for a second it broke Ami, but she held her head down and worked, ignoring her own emotions...
ll
ll
As she sat up, awake, she contemplated to herself. Should she ignore the dream and continue as if it never happened, going back to work in the next few days? Or should she call Usagi, and ask to meet with her?
ll
ll
She weighed her options...
ll
ll
She called the hospital.
ll
ll
They were able to give her two weeks of available PTO seeing as no one else was off and she never used hers, not even caring that it expired, or that she was barely compensated for it.
ll
ll
She called another number... it rang... it rang again... another time...
ll
ll
Ami was about to close her phone when she heard someone pick up the phone, but it was silent.
ll
ll
(Ami) Um... hello...?
ll
ll
(Usagi) (Over the phone) A..Ami...? Is that... you?
ll
ll
(Ami) Yeah... hey Usagi... it's... it's been awhile since we last spoke... how are you?
ll
ll
(Usagi) I'm... doing well... What about you, how are you?
ll
ll
(Ami) It's been... a little busy... but not bad.
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) Oh... well I hope it gets better.
ll
ll
Hearing Usagi's voice made Ami feel guilty and nervous. She sounded... depressed, unlike when she used to call, where she would always sound as happy as ever.
ll
ll
(Ami) Well... I need to speak with you, in person. Are you busy tomorrow?
ll
ll
Ami could hear a supressed gasp from the other end of the line.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Not at all!
ll
ll
There was a tremble in Usagi's voice, even though she sounded happier.
ll
ll
(Ami) Are you sure? I could-
ll
ll
(Usagi) Absolutely, just tell me when and where, and I'll be there!
ll
ll
ll
(Ami) *Slight Chuckle* Okay then... ... ... DO... you know any good coffee spots? I haven't... really had the time to visit anywhere since I started working at the hospital.
ll
ll
(Usagi) I think I know somewhere you'd like. I'll come pick you up, just give me the address to your place and I'll be there tomorrow.
ll
ll
ll
Ami sent Usagi her address and the two said their farewells until the next day.
ll
ll
ll
The next morning Ami got up late for the first time in ages. When she looked at the clock, she panicked, it was already 11:15. Usagi wanted to pick her up at 11:30.
ll
ll
ll
Ami was about to sprint into the shower when she heard a knock at the door. When she answered it, there stood Usagi, dress in a pair of blue jeans and a white shirt.
ll
ll
(Ami) (Crap...) Morning Usagi. Sorry, I just got up, so it'll be a little while before I'm ready.
ll
ll
(Usagi) No problem, I can wait a little longer, it's not like the worlds ending.
ll
ll
Ami went back to what her ancient self told her.
ll
ll
(Ami) Thanks... I'll be ready in a bit. Come inside, make yourself comfortable. Wouldn't want you waiting in your car or outside.
ll
ll
Usagi walked around the apartment as Ami went to get ready.
ll
ll
(Usagi) So this is what a doctor's luxury apartment looks like...
ll
ll
It was a beautiful living space, with fancy brick walls and marble tile floors, it was simply beautiful. The furniture was stylish and looked expensive. But one thing was out of place. Although Ami lived here, the place seemed to be brand new, no signs of personal touch or decor. The furniture that seemed to have been bought, but never used. But the furniture was the only thing convincing Usagi, that Ami actually lived here, not that she might've been putting up a front to flaunt wealth, but actually coming home to this place, as her home...
ll
ll
After 45 minutes, Ami came out in a black jeans and a nice top, complete with a small coat.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Ready?
ll
ll
(Ami) Yeah, let's go!
ll
ll
As Usagi drove them to the cafe, Ami held onto the roof handle on the passenger door, remembering how reckless Usagi could be when she was excited, which unfortunately... extended to her driving.
ll
ll
As Usagi tore through the streets of Tokyo, Ami found herself feeling a G or two of force as she was thrown forwards and backwards and side to side.
ll
ll
As Usagi drove, Ami made a few *Colorful* remarks
ll
ll
On the highway, Usagi raced around traffic, threading the needle in between cars, slamming the breaks.
ll
ll
(Ami) For the god's sake Usagi! Will you just slow the FUCK DOWN, you're gonna KILL US BOTH!
ll
ll
As Usagi drove, she reassured Ami of her safety.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Oh don't worry Ami. I've done this pleenty of times. Trust me, you're in good HANDS! Shit, that came outta nowhere.
ll
ll
(Ami) WHAT!? You've broken the law who KNOWS how many times!? HOW DO YOU STILL HAVE A LICENSE!?
ll
ll
After getting off the freeway, a couple sports cars pulled up on the sides of Usagi's 86, greeting her.
ll
ll
Ami looked around at the different people.
ll
ll
(Ami) You know all of these people?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Eh, kinda. They're pretty cool though.
ll
ll
(Ami) How? They just showed up out of no where and say hi to you, and you barely know them?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Yeah, we just share a common interest with cars, that's all. But I've spoken to them sometimes, and they're pretty chill.
ll
ll
(Ami) Where'd you even meet them.
ll
ll
(Usagi) A rest stop, it's a small trip from my place, but it's pretty fun. Took Mamo over there when he came to visit.
ll
ll
(Ami) Wait, Mamoru came to visit in Japan? When?
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) Last week. It was pretty nice, seeing him home.
ll
ll
(Ami) Huh...
ll
ll
As the two pulled up to the cafe, Ami was stunned by how beautiful everything was. The cafe looked like it was made from marble and cobblestone. It's entrance faced, and overlooked the ocean, with clear glass windows at the entrance.
ll
ll
Ami stood, shocked. Usagi lightly pulled her inside.
ll
ll
(Usagi) C'mon, you sounded pretty serious over the phone, might as well talk about over some good drinks and a kick ass view.
ll
ll
(Ami) Um... sure.
ll
ll
ll
As the two sat down outside, the sound of the light winds and crashing waves in the distance created a calm sound to prevent any awkward silence.
ll
ll
(Usagi) So? What did you want to talk about? You seemed serious over the phone, even though you haven't really chatted with me, ever since you first started working at that hospital.
ll
ll
(Ami) Well, at the time, I saw that our obligations to the Sailor Guardians were completed, until you reestablish the...
ll
ll
A mental image of her anicent self, furious surfaced as she thought of the Silver Millenium.
ll
ll
(Ami) ... the Silver Millenium...
ll
ll
(Ami) But that's not what I wanted to discuss with you. I had a dream last night. I... saw myself from the past, but she was different... she had this suit of armor and she said some things and... well, I can't make sense of it...
ll
ll
Ami nervously laughed to herself.
ll
ll
(Ami) I'm not even sure it was real.
ll
ll
(Usagi) I see. ... ... How long are you off from work?
ll
ll
(Ami) I took the next two weeks off. Why?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Good, it'll give us some time...
ll
ll
(Ami) Huh!?
ll
Usagi got up, looking at Ami to do the same.
ll
(Usagi) Well, come on, we're heading to Setsuna's.
ll
ll
(Ami) What!? I thought her and the outer guardians were keeping watch over the Solar System, making sure no threats got in without telling us.
ll
ll
(Usagi) There's a lot to explain, but it'll have to wait until we get there.
ll
ll
(Ami) Jeez, two years and you've already gotten into more trouble. What will me and the others ever do with you?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Oh c'mon, it wasn't MY fault we're getting attacked by some... group, that has an old grudge to settle.
ll
ll
ll
Ami leaned back in her seat as Usagi drove, much calmer now. The two laughed at the situation, seeing as it, just like when the Sailor Guardians formed, Usagi was the first to reach out.
ll
ll
(Ami) It'll be nice, seeing everyone again. It'll be just like the good ol days...
ll
ll
Usagi seemed to frown for a second as Ami mentioned seeing the others.
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) Yeah... except there will be two of us missing...
ll
ll
(Ami) Oh? I know Mamoru had to go back to the U.S. to focus on school, but who is the other?
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) The other one is Makoto. She's so dead set on living a normal human life, that she flat out rejected my proposal.
ll
ll
(Ami) Huh... and you told her everything that was different?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Yeah, but it only spooked her for a second, before she reassured us that she would decline to join us. But not before I gave her a broken nose and black eye...
ll
ll
(Ami) YOU WHAT!?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Well, she had it coming. After what she did to Mamo...
ll
ll
(Ami) Oh... what did... she do to him?
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) We'll get into that later. For now...
ll
ll
Ami looked to see Usagi putting her car in park as they had arrived.
ll
ll
Usagi got out and walked towards the apartments. Ami, confused, looked around to see how this apartment complex would help her understand what was happening.
ll
ll
(Usagi) C'mon Ami, let's not keep the others waiting for too long.
ll
ll
(Ami) Oh, yeah!
ll
ll
Ami walked behind Usagi as they ascended a small flight of stairs and Usagi knocked on a door.
ll
ll
After a few seconds, the door opened and she heard a voice she hadn't heard in two years.
ll
ll
(Setsuna) Hey Usagi, what's up?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Well, someone... *Usagi pointed at Ami using her eyes.* Got a little visit in her sleep by her actual past self, as a tenno.
ll
ll
(Setsuna) Hm?
ll
ll
As soon as Setsuna made eye contact with Ami, her face lit up as she ran over and squeezed the life out of Ami.
ll
ll
(Setsuna) Ami!? Hey!
ll
ll
Setsuna and trapped Ami in a bear hug.
ll
ll
(Ami) Oh, Setsuna! Hi!-
ll
ll
(Setsuna) It's so good to see you. It's been too long!
ll
ll
(Ami) Y..Yeah, it has...
ll
ll
From behind Setsuna, Michiru, Haruka and Hotaru all walked out to greet Ami.
ll
ll
(Hotaru) Setsuna! Careful, you're gonna squeeze the life outta her.
ll
ll
(Setsuna) OH!
ll
ll
Setsuna let go of Ami.
ll
ll
(Ami) Long time no see everyone.
ll
ll
After some small talk between the five of them, the group went to the portal within Setsuna's apartment. When the group appeared on the other side, Ami felt a sense of familiarity and danger.
ll
ll
(Ami) Usagi... where are we?
ll
ll
(Usagi) We're back on the Moon.
ll
ll
Ami's heart sunk as she remembered what she had done the last time she was within the halls of the Silver Millenium. She felt embarrassed as she remembered her past self's words, feeling like a child being sent to the principal's office.
ll
ll
Usagi walked ahead of the group before turnin around to look at everyone.
ll
ll
(Usagi) I'm just gonna go ahead real quick. Just need to grab something.
ll
ll
(Haruka) What do you need right now... ... Oh whatever, okay. See ya in a bit.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Okay.
ll
ll
ll
Usagi sprinted ahead as the group resumed walking, wondering what Usagi was going ahead for.
ll
ll
ll
{Calming The Storm Before it Arrives, Usagi}
ll
ll
Usagi ran ahead, knowing Minako and Rei were coming back from a skirmish any minute now.
ll
ll
Usagi ran into the Throne Room, just in time to see the Lotus, Ember and Mesa walking in, with minimal damage.
ll
ll
Rei had been armed with the Shotgun, Tigris. A white and gold decorated double barrel shogun that made any modern shotgun look like a toy compared to it's incredible firing power, as well as it's incredible recoil. She was also given the pistol, known as Sicarus, a pistol that is a three burst shot, decorated with extravagent gold lining, a weapon that mixed the best of both worlds, the pinpoint accuracy of semi-auto pistols and the firing capacity of automatic pistols. As for her melee, she was given a long and heavy sword, named Tatsu. It may have appeared to be big and clunky, but it's blade was sharper than the most well-made swords of all time.
ll
ll
Minako was armed as well. With her healing capabilities, she wanted weapons that could stop an enemy from a distance, and weapons that could get an enemy right in front of her. Therefore, she was given a sniper and twin pistols as her weapons. Her sniper was a sight to behold. It was an ivory color, with a streak of red running down the middle. It was covered in golden lining, from her stock, to the tip of the barrel. It was one of the most powerful weapons a Tenno could use. It could take out a target from miles away, and still be as accurate. At her sides were Aklex. They were twin, white and gold colored semi-auto pistols, bulky in size, make up for it with their hard hitting fire power. Minako had been given a smaller melee for her Warframe, a pair of folding sickles that, although they had small blades at the end of their handles, were still flexible and capable of quickly sending an enemy to their demise.
ll
ll
ll
The two were walking and talking as they exited their Warframes and walking towards Usagi.
ll
(Minako) Oh, hey Usagi!
ll
ll
(Rei) Hey there Usagi. What're you doing here?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Would you two mind coming with me for a second?
ll
ll
Usagi pulled the pair aside, into another hallway, making sure the two wouldn't see Ami.
ll
ll
As the three stopped, Minako and Rei looked at Usagi, confused.
ll
ll
(Minako) Um... Usagi? What's going on?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Well, I need to tell the both of you something you're not gonna want to hear.
ll
ll
Both girls furrowed their eyebrows, preparing for what Usagi might say.
ll
ll
(Rei) Oh...? And what might that be?
ll
ll
Usagi took a breath before speaking.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Ami's here. She got a visit from herself in a past life and now she want's to join us.
ll
ll
ll
(Rei) Ami? She's actually here? And where? Because clearly she isn't with you.
ll
ll
(Usagi) She's... with the others.
ll
ll
(Minako) Do they know? Do they know what she tried to pull with Makoto?
ll
ll
(Usagi) They do not. And I don-
ll
ll
(Rei) No! No secrets.
ll
ll
(Minako) They have the right to know that she tried to screw us over. Regardless of how long ago and with whom.
ll
ll
(Usagi) But we cannot tell them now.
ll
ll
(Minako) Then when!?
ll
ll
(Usagi) I'll tell them after we situate Ami within our ranks. It is true they deserve to know, but if they find out now, then they might attack Ami out of anger and hurt. And we can't have that.
ll
ll
(Usagi) The Lotus told us that we need as many allies as we can, even asking if we could use Mamo. So there, I will tell them and no one else.
ll
ll
(Rei) Good to know.
ll
ll
(Minako) We can't be hiding things like this from each other, cause it'll only get worse with time.
ll
ll
ll
As the three finished, Rei and Minako could see everyone walking to the main Throne room, to the Lotus.
ll
ll
Everyone waved to the three, then Minako and Rei followed Usagi as they regrouped with the rest of them.
ll
ll
ll
As the group walked, Ami did her best to not accidentally look behind her and risking making eye contact with either Minako or Rei. Talking to Usagi was difficult enough, but they were there too when she was convinced by Makoto to do something so idiotic as to steal from her own friends.
ll
ll
As the group made their way to the Lotus, she was surprised to see that Ami was among them.
ll
ll
ll
(Lotus) Hello Tenno. I see that you were able to bring her back, Usagi.
ll
ll
ll
Haruka, Michiru, Hotaru, and Setsuna grew confused, wondering what the Lotus meant.
ll
ll
Ami became terrified, only barely putting up a front of calm.
ll
Usagi became worried, that everyone was about to turn on Ami before she could even join them.
ll
ll
ll
Minako and Rei just looked at each other, knowing what might be about to happen.
ll
ll
ll
(Lotus) I see a mix of emotions. Allow me to enlighten those who do not know. If you would look towards the end of the Throne Room.
ll
ll
Everyone watched as the Lotus created a mirage within the Throne Room. It started moments before Usagi confronted Ami, Makoto and Minako in the throne Room.
ll
ll
ll
The Mirage began as Usagi hid Garuda behind a pillar, going into the center of the room as the three touched down. Rei hid behind another pillar as she watched Usagi.
ll
ll
The scene played out exactly the same:
ll
As the three touched down, they were immediately met with a smiling Usagi.
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) Wow, how nice to see all of you. Ami, with your unwavering worship to working, or at least looking like the part when really you only give a shit about prestige and money. Makoto, a bored fucking idiot who was too stupid to try and do anything worthwhile with her life. Oh, and the Idol who wants to be a hero and an Idol.
ll
ll
ll
(Makoto) Wow Usagi, you've grown some balls to speak to me like that. I'll snap your pretty little neck before you can say any more stupid shit ya know, so watch it.
ll
ll
(Ami) I agree! Usagi, since when were you so poorly mannered? We're your friends aren't we?
ll
(Minako) I'm so sorry, I just wanted to talk to them, but after a little while, they just came here.
ll
Usagi nodded towards Minako. Then she addressed Ami and Makoto.
ll
(Usagi) Sure you are, friends from Hell.
ll
ll
Makoto sprinted at Usagi out of anger and was about to grab her neck with both hands.
ll
ll
Before Makoto gripped Usagi's neck, Usagi transferred into Garuda, leaving Makoto surprised, confused and scared.
ll
ll
Makoto was too late to react to Usagi's transformation, evident as Usagi gripped Makoto's collar and lifted her off the group with ease.
ll
ll
She raised Makoto high in the air and stared at her in silence.
ll
ll
Seeing that Makoto had been disarmed, Ami panicked and launched her Aqua Rhapsody at Garuda, but it was a weak void attack, compared to a Warframe's durable armor and shields.
ll
ll
The attack harmlessly splashed against Garuda. And as the water fizzled into energy, wild laughter came from Garuda, embarrasssing the two.
ll
ll
As Usagi laughed in Makoto's face, Makoto silently prepared a gut punch to force Usagi to release her. Ami, trying to appear fearless, prepared to attack Usagi head-on, even though she was never made out for hand-to-hand combat.
ll
ll
ll
Immediately, Usagi noticed Makoto winding up the punch. She quickly raised Makoto in the air, releasing her for just a moment before she ruthlessly drove Makoto's head into the floor. As she immediately made sure Makoto was incapacitated, she turned her head slightly to see Ami before using Void Transference to teleport behind her invisibly, resummoning Garuda, lowering one of her talons around Ami's neck, as her pulse began to race even faster.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Now you listen, and I DO mean, listen. And listen well.
ll
ll
Usagi held her other talon up to Ami's line of sight to show of their sharpness, to show Ami her own terror in her eyes.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Unless you have proven yourself to me, proved that, you are able to be trusted and give a damn about that beautiful blue planet... don't ever come back here, or else... I will find everyone connected to you, friends, family, it doesn't matter.
ll
Usagi spun Ami around and dropped her to the ground. Ami backed away from Usagi, who's terrifying presence was enough for Ami to stop fighting.
ll
Minako seemed to notice Ember behind one of the pillars, and hid next to her, clinging to her out of fear and for protection and comfort. She shook as Ember was hypnotized by Usagi's violence.
ll
To instill a little extra terror, Usagi hung her talons low to the ground, and slowly walked towards Ami with her head cocked to the side as Ami was now scooting backwards to get near Makoto's unconscious body.
ll
ll
(Usagi) I will find them, and you will only see them again, in a body bag. Do we have a common understanding? Oh, and the same applies if you ever think about telling a soul about this place and about us. And you know what the best part is? You can't tell anyone it was me. Why? Because no one will believe you. They'll think you're crazy. Insane, but only I will know the truth.
ll
ll
Ami, genuinely terrified, just stared at Makoto's unmoving body and just nodded with tears in her eyes.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Good.
ll
ll
Usagi walked over to Makoto and picked her up, slinging Makoto's unconscious body over her shoulder like it weighed nothing.
ll
ll
After Usagi sent Ami, with Makoto over her shoulder, flying back to Earth, Rei came out to watch Ami fly away.
ll
ll
(Rei) Hey... Usagi...? You okay?
ll
ll
ll
As Rei went over to Usagi, the fragment faded and everyone was left stunned.
ll
ll
ll
(Lotus) I had detected three traces of void energy heading towards us a few months ago. Usagi and Rei were training outside when I alerted them. Then this altercation happened and it was revealed to me why the three were here.
ll
ll
(Lotus) One, was here to stop the other two from attempting... attempting to steal Warframe technology for personal gain.
ll
ll
The outer guardians all gasped as they stared at Ami.
ll
ll
Usagi, Rei and Minako were all silent, already knowing the truth.
ll
ll
(Haruka) Wait... I... I know that look. You knew, didn't you?
ll
ll
Haruka voice began to drip with venom.
ll
ll
(Haruka) We welcomed her back... we were happy to see her... but this was the truth.. she tried to sabotage our mission for personal gain, and you knew.
ll
ll
(Usagi) You wouldn't have allowed her to come if you knew the truth.
ll
ll
(Michiru) AND FOR GOOD REASON! Not only did she give in to selfish desires, but she could've severely hindered our strength. She could've put so much at risk... she shouldn't even be here now.
ll
ll
(Hotaru) I agree. We can't trust someone who is so corrupted by material possessions and status, that she'd be willing to mess with things she doesn't understand. How are we to know that she won't take her Warframe and weapons back to Earth, just so she can offer them up as research?
ll
ll
ll
As the group began to argue amongst themselves, the Lotus raised her hand, and everyone became silent.
ll
ll
ll
(Lotus) I see there is a disagreement. Allow me to insert my own opinion, and a thought for everyone present.
ll
ll
ll
Everyone faced the Lotus, prepared to hear what she had to say.
ll
ll
(Lotus) I understand that, in the past, this girl, was swayed by aspirations of wealth and fame? But what about others within your ranks?
ll
ll
Haruka, Michiru, Hotaru and Setsuna all looked towards Rei and Minako. The pair avoiding eye contact out of embarrassment.
ll
ll
(Lotus) And I'm sure that you as well, had wants that were never satisfied due to your mission to protect the Earth, did you not? What if you had lived on Earth, bathing in all that humanity had to offer? Do you believe you would've been so quick to return, such as Usagi Tsukino? Would you have held onto your Earthern lives similar to Minako Aino or Rei Hino? Or would you even have shielded one another from returning, such as Mamoru Chiba?
ll
ll
At first, the group, except for Usagi and Ami, looked around, their steeled expressions slowly fading as they pondered the question.
ll
ll
(Haruka) I believe so. We stayed out here in our castles to protect the Earth, so safe to say, we'd have immediately returned to defend.
ll
(Hotaru) I agree, we've done more than the rest of the guardians to defend this planet without them.
ll
ll
ll
(Lotus) I see... but Haruka. What if you could've allowed Michiru to go back to Earth to live a normal life, pursuing her career as a musician? And Hotaru, what if you could do the same for Setsuna? Stay out here while she goes home to Earth to live normally among the humans?
ll
ll
(Rei) But what about us? Sure, Usagu helped us understand, but we gave up the lavish parts of our lives to return and defend the Earth from the Sentients. SHE has not made that transition. She has not rescinded her need for wealth and status.
ll
ll
ll
(Lotus) But, did you, Rei Hino, along with Minako Aino, require time to make that transition to rescind your status'?
ll
ll
Rei looked down, remembering how long it took her to finally resign and go back to the Hikawa Shrine, physically, as well as mentally.
ll
ll
ll
(Lotus) I understand all of your frustrations, but this person... Ami Mizuno... she will be the one who will heal you in the heat of battle. She will support you on the front lines with her given abilities and Warframe.
ll
ll
(Lotus) But that is not to say that I will undermine and ignore your worries. I will arm Ami Mizuno with the Warframe from her past Tenno life. And as a precaution, Usagi, seeing as she was willing to risk bringing her here of her own accord, will have Ami accompany her on her missions to the outer planets. Usagi will be her trainer as well as her overseer. She will supervise Ami's progress as a Tenno and as a guard, to prevent any possible mishaps that should, or should not occur.
ll
ll
The Lotus looked straight at Ami, a sense of welcoming and warmth radiating from her.
ll
ll
(Lotus) Tenno, Ami Mizuno. Do you accept these conditions? Will you rescind your desire for wealth and status to join our cause to protect all of Humanity from a threat from beyond the Origin System?
ll
ll
Ami hesitated before speaking but steeling her resolve as she spoke.
ll
ll
(Ami) I... I... I accept the conditions placed on me and will join the fight. As a healer, it is my duty to heal those who have been injured, as well as protect those who are unable to do so for themselves.
ll
ll
(Lotus) Thank you Ami Mizuno. For rejoining us in another life, as one who will heal us in our times of need to come. As for you, Usagi.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Yeah Lotus?
ll
ll
(Lotus) Thank you for being brave enough to not once, but twice, fight for the cause of others. And for allowing our new ally to learn under your supervision.
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) Gladly. The more of us there are to fight now, the more we can handle if things get tougher.
ll
ll
ll
(Lotus) Now that this matter has been resolved, Ami Mizuno, you will be reacquainted with your Warframe the next time you are here. You will also be armed with an arsenal of weaponry to protect yourself as well as push back the Sentient forces alongside Usagi.
ll
ll
ll
(Ami) Understood.
ll
ll
As the meeting came to an end, everyone exited the Throne Room. Usagi led Ami out of the apartment, and Minako as well as Rei, all left the apartment. Setsuna, Haruka, Minchiru and Hotaru all seemed to be on edge around Ami, still furious about her near betrayal.
ll
ll
ll
In the car, Usagi and Ami both let out deep sighs.
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) Holy shit... that was intense!
ll
ll
(Ami) Yes, it was... But why!? That was months ago, you never told them what I tried to do with Makoto!?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Didn't think we'd watch it happen again before our eyes, obviously!
ll
ll
(Ami) And why...?
ll
Ami seemed to quiet her voice as she asked the question.
ll
ll
(Ami) Why did you bring me to her, the "Lotus" as you called her? You knew what I had done, but yet... here we are.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Because. We need everyone to come back. Regardless of what you've done in the past, it doesn't matter. We need everyone to return so we can maybe one day go straight into the heart of the Sentient Fleet.
ll
ll
(Ami) I see... But what did the others mean when they said that I hadn't "gave up the lavish parts of mu life"?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Well... that's where things get tricky. The thing is... we need you to be available, just like when we were part of the Sailor Guardians. And you won't be available if you keep that cushy surgeon's position.
ll
ll
(Ami) What... What are you saying?
ll
ll
(Usagi) You gotta be more available. You might need to find a job where you can-
ll
ll
(Ami) But I worked so hard to get here! I can't just give that all up! I spent so many years, studying, being an apprentice, working my way up! So many sleepless nights, emotional breakdowns... How do you expect me to just give that all up!?
ll
ll
(Usagi) That's the part I'm not so sure about...
ll
ll
(Ami) Well, what did Minako and Rei do!?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Well, Rei quit the religious organization she was apart of to go back to being the Main Shrine Maiden of the Hikawa Shrine and Mina stopped constantly doing tours and concerts to do studio music.
ll
ll
(Ami) So what should I do...? I don't want to give up medicine, but what other choice do I have?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Well... are you working everyday? Constantly busy?
ll
ll
(Ami) It's a little more complicated than that... I may not work every day, but I'm constantly on-call for dire surgeries. Every day, there's at least one surgery that I need to perform where the patient is at risk.
ll
ll
(Ami) Saving lives here on Earth... how can you expect me to just give that up?
ll
ll
(Usagi) I know... but maybe you don't have to save everyone's life. What if you opened your own practice? A small clinic?
ll
ll
(Ami) My own practice? You think I should just open a small clinic in the middle of Tokyo?
ll
ll
(Usagi) I mean... do you have a better idea? Look, I know it isn't saving lives, but you still get to practice medicine, as well as help us out there.
ll
ll
Ami stared out the window as she pondered the thought. She had the financial means to do it, but would she really be okay with this? Giving up on being a highly sought after surgeon to open up a small clinic?
ll
ll
As Usagi drove Ami home, Ami never told her whether she would go through with leaving her career as a surgeon behind.
ll
ll
ll
A few days passed. The Outer Guardians, Rei and Minako, all believed that Ami would cling to her career, as it had been her dream to work as a surgeon for others. The group even told Usagi not to hold her breath, and to not bother waiting for something that might never come.
ll
ll
Usagi tried calling Ami, but all of her calls went straight to voicemail.
ll
ll
ll
She worried about Ami, wondering if she really had given up on joining her and the others in the fight against another threat.
ll
ll
ll
After a week, Usagi still hadn't heard from Ami.
ll
ll
ll
Usagi thought of traveling to her apartment, but she didn't not wanting to feel disappointment or sadness if Ami had held onto her career after all.
ll
ll
ll
After a Month, Usagi had stopped waiting for Ami to return.
ll
ll
Ami hadn't so much as left her a message, saying that she would stay on Earth as a surgeon.
ll
ll
ll
ll
Another Month past, and everyone told Usagi how they knew Ami would be to stubborn to let go of her dream job. The Outer Guardians felt that it was bound to happen, regardless of how persistent Usagi was, Rei and Minako didn't blame Ami, knowing how long she had dedicated herself to the practice, and how they too would've found it too difficult to let go of something so close to home.
ll
ll
ll
After she had been sent out to fight sentients on Pluto, Usagi returned, feeling bitter about how her plan to reunify the Sailor Guardians came to a strict halt with Ami.
ll
ll
As she went to set down her Warframe, the Lotus stopped her as she was about to leave.
ll
ll
ll
(Lotus) Usagi... do you have a moment?
ll
ll
Usagi tried to hide her bitterness and defeat through a forced smile and cheerful tone.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Sure! What's up?
ll
ll
ll
(Lotus) I know you must feel some negative emotions, seeing as Ami did not come to join us, even after accepting the terms given to her.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Yeah... it sucks! We used to be close friends, and now... just when we were coming back together...
ll
ll
(Lotus) I see, I seem to recall you mentioning how each of them were your friends, as well as your allies.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Yeah, we were all friends when previous enemies had tried to take the Earth from us when we were a little younger. Back then, we were especially close, but as we hit adulthood, then we all sorta... drifted apart.
ll
ll
(Lotus) And you saw this opportunity to gain allies as well as reunite with your old friends and bring them together?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Call me selfish, but yes. I just wanted all of us to be together, even if it was like this, another life-or-death situation. Sure, we were facing another threat to our existence, but at least we were doing it together.
ll
ll
(Lotus) I see. That was the same mentality as the Tenno and their allies from the ancient times, all fighting the same fight, regardless of their differences.
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) Well... I should head home. Don't want anyone getting suspicious now.
ll
ll
Usagi walked away, feeling the sorrow and disappointment that used to plague her when she was first left alone by her friends. It had evolved to be a pain unlike any other. Even the slightest hint of it threw Usagi into a loop of negative emotions, sorrow, anger, fear, warped happiness... until she began to deny whatever was plaguing her, as if she were trying to pretend it didn't hurt, or it didn't exist.
ll
ll
As Usagi said goodbye to the outer guardians in the apartment, she sped walk out of the apartment, feeling herself breaking down, trying to get out before someone can see her.
ll
ll
ll
Usagi held herself together until she got home, where she allowed her emotions to flow, lying in her bed, trying to comfort herself, not even allowing Luna to see her vulnerable. If Luna entered the room, she would quickly steady her voice and just allow the tears to flow, so Luna couldn't tell what she was actually feeling.
ll
ll
For so long, she had done well to get her friends back, but here she was, failing to get just one of them back.
