Episode 20: Hydroid

ll

As Michiru and Haruka flew down to the Earth, towards the landmass of Greenland. Towards a north eastern part of the landmass, where ice and snow met a sub-zero degree sea in the Greenland Sea.

ll

ll

As the pair broke through the clouds, they were immediately met with severe conditions as wind blew quickly, and the rain fell in thick sheets. Thunder and lightning threatened to take the pair out as the quickly descended.

ll

ll

(Michiru) I understood why the Lotus wanted us here instead... but I wonder if Makoto might've had a hand in that.

ll

ll

(Haruka) Eh, can't say I wouldn't do the same. Who would wanna be here anyway.

ll

ll

The two landed on hard ice, looking in front of them to see their target. Hydroid.

ll

ll

The two stood before Hydroid, as the ghost of the past looked out unto the raging sea, as winds howled, and lightning crashed in bright flashes and Thunder exploded in the clouds above them.

ll

ll

The Warframe turned around, facing the pair.

ll

ll

(Hydroid) So, the Tenno have finally sent more challengers. Fine. So be it. I've been waiting more than a while to make a few credits.

ll

ll

Haruka pulled her heavy sword, Galatine, from her back, stancing herself and pointing the blade at Hydroid.

ll

ll

Michiru aimed her rifle at Hydroid.

ll

ll

(Haruka) You wanna come quietly, or are we gonna have to kick your ass?

ll

ll

(Hydroid) HAH! You have any idea how many Tenno, grineer and corpus bastards have said that? By the time I'm done with you, I'll have you on a transport to Alad V. He'll make fine use of all that gold.

ll

ll

(Michiru) I can't believe it. A Tenno, turning on their own. Must be one sick son of a bitch.

ll

ll

(Hydroid) Hey, don't lump me in with those high and mighty cowards. I've never been one of them. I am a stalker, but instead of killing the Tenno, I wanted to make them suffer, for what they did to our masters.

ll

ll

(Haruka) Oh... Now I see. You were a loyal dog of the Orokin, and when you were set free by the Tenno, you didn't like being free. You wanted to be kept on a chain for the rest of your life. How sad.

ll

ll

(Hydroid) Eh, you don't get it. But, what does it matter. You'll be dead in a few minutes.

ll

ll

(Michiru) Says the ghost of the past.

ll

ll

The Warframe seemed to be alerted by the notion.

ll

ll

(Hydroid) Heh. I'm not dead you fool. As you can see, I'm perfectly alive.

ll

ll

(Haruka) Then contact your little corpus buddies, bet they'd love to hear from you.

ll

ll

(Hydroid) Hm! You're right! I should contact them to pick up the scrap after I...

ll

ll

The Warframe tapped his helmet. Then he began whispering to himself.

ll

ll

(Hydroid) No signal detected...? Those idiots never cut off their transmitters.

ll

ll

(Hydroid) Alad V... HUH!? That crazy bastard never ignores me!

ll

ll

The Operator began sounding frantic.

ll

ll

(Hydroid) Corpus...? No... Grineer? No... Cephalon Simaris? How can this be...?

ll

ll

The Warframe continued, trying to contact anyone he could.

ll

ll

(Hydroid) Impossible... ... NO! There's still her... ...

ll

ll

(Hydroid) No... connection... available...?

ll

ll

The Warframe sunk to his knees.

ll

ll

(Hydroid) This is impossible... I was supposed to live forever... rule the Earthern Seas by MY rules...

ll

ll

(Haruka) We tried to tell you. The System you knew is completely gone. Nothing remains of it except for a few items.

ll

ll

The Warframe got up, running over to Haruka, grabbing her shoulders, desperate.

ll

ll

(Hydroid) No! That can't be! The Lotus, where is she?!

ll

ll

(Haruka) She's still here. But. She's asked us to come down and retrieve you and a few other Warframes who are still active, even though your operators are ghosts.

ll

ll

Hydroid slowly let go of Haruka's shoulders before slumping down to his knees in front of her.

ll

ll

(Hydroid) All of the credits of accumulated... all the Warframes I gave to the Corpus... all the Grineer I had slain... all the connections I severed... none of it ever mattered...

ll

ll

Hydroid looked up at Haruka.

ll

ll

(Hydroid) Can I still pass on? Or am I forever bound to this existence for my crimes?

ll

ll

(Michiru) You just need to transfer out of your Warframe. Then, you will be free from this life.

ll

ll

(Hydroid) But... it's so cold... I don't wanna leave...

ll

ll

Haruka stepped back, frustrated by the Warframe's admissions.

ll

ll

But Michiru knelt down beside the Warframe, comforting it.

ll

ll

(Michiru) I know it's scary. But-

ll

ll

(Hydroid) But what if it's like when the Orokin fell, and I end up like this, somewhere else?

ll

ll

(Michiru) Don't worry. That isn't gonna happen. You will be reunited with those you've lost in the afterlife.

ll

ll

(Hydroid) Really? I'll see my family again? For Sol's sake, I haven't seen them in so many cycles...

ll

ll

Michiru used her abilities, not to harm, but to play ancient Orokin music

ll

ll

(Hydroid) Ah... I remember those sounds... my sister loved them... just like her mother... Father pretended it never amused him, but he loved it so...

ll

ll

A blue energy began emanating from Hydroid as the Operator left the Warframe.

ll

ll

(Michiru) It is done.

ll

ll

(Haruka) Alright. I'll carry it.

ll

ll

Haruka picked up the now, Lifeless, Hydroid, and the two flew up through the storms and left for the Moon.

ll

ll

As the two flew, Haruka looked at Michiru.

ll

ll

(Haruka) Hey... Michiru... those sounds... what was that? It sounded odd... like a combination of different types of music all at once.

ll

ll

(Michiru) Well, a little while after using this Warframe, I found an instrument deep within, and the Warframe allowed me to play it peacefully.

ll

ll

(Haruka) Huh... sometimes I wonder...
