The Halloween Special!!! This had been a section I've wanted to do for a long time. A lot of inspiration for this chapter is from B.E.AT.N's own Halloween theme. I'm giving them credit for majority of the costume ideas, mainly for some of the girls. I hope you all enjoy and let me know what you think. Also, stay tuned for an announcement below. It's really special!!
Chapter 7: Hallow Nights
Ben was in the store with his daughter. It had been weeks since his little date with Shar and since she joined the family. She adjusted well and got along with the girls.
A lot of development happened during this time…
*Flashback*
Hope got in touch with Ben and told him to meet with her and Retsu. When the hero arrived, it was tense.
The master looked at Ben. "We have a lot to discuss…"
Ben nodded. "What's the situation?" He asked as he sat down with the two.
"Vilgax is on his way here…this time, with something even more dangerous than even the Dagon." Hope explained.
This made Ben raise an eyebrow. "What could be worse than that?"
"A celestial. A being that transcends that foul beast. They can not only destroy worlds, but absorb their energy and life force. They have the ability to even go beyond dimensions but they stick to one reality as it's a huge risk to try." Retsu told Ben. "From what Hope has told me, Vilgax intends to fuse his own mind with the celestial. If he does that, there is no stopping him."
Ben nodded as he listened. "So we have to prepare…"
Hope replied. "It's not going to be easy. But…I will help you."
"How so?" Ben asked.
"By teaching you…the Domain Expansion." Retsu let out.
"The what who?" Ben said confused.
"It's a technique that combines both magic and martial arts. You should be able to learn in theory but…you will have to learn magic as well." Hope sighed.
"I'm fine with that. I could always learn more." Ben smiled.
Hope nodded. "Great. We will begin as soon as possible." She grabbed Ben's hand and dragged him to another room to learn.
Retsu chuckled to himself. "If only his father could see him…one day, he will learn the truth." He went to arrange his books.
*Present Day*
Ben was at the store with Evie, getting candy and snacks for the Halloween block party in Bellwood tonight. It was a large event for the town and everyone was excited.
The hero looked at candy options. He turned to his daughter. "What should we get, lovebug?"
Evie looked at the options. She pointed to the Hishe Hugs (basically Hershey Kisses). "Those!! They're the best candy!!"
Ben smiled. "Good girl." He put them in the cart.
They went to the costumes to get something to wear. Evie wanted a costume to match her father.
Evie looked through them and smiled. "This one!!"
Ben said. "Are you sure?"
The child nodded excitedly.
*Halloween Night*
Everyone met up for the party.
Kevin and Gwen were dressed as Victor and Emily from The Corpse Bride. Kevin groaned. "This is the only time you see me in a tux…"
Gwen giggled. "You look so adorable though, also don't forget you're also wearing a tuxedo for our wedding." Her baby bump was starting to show ever so slightly.
Kevin groaned again.
Rook and Rayona were dressed as skeletons. Rayona was still unfamiliar with this Earth holiday, but her husband explained it the best he could.
The female said. "I still do not see the purpose of these elaborate costumes."
"I try to but it is still very odd." Rook replied.
Then there were Ben's lovers.
Looma was dressed up as Wonder Woman, except it was real armor and she had actual weapons.
Ester was dressed as Mr. Fantastic from the Fantastic Four, wearing a blue uniform and a four symbol on her chest.
Julie was wearing a Chun-Li costume from Street Fighter, with the blue robes and hair buns.
Helen was dressed as Squirtle from Pokémon, with a shell on her back and her tail lined blue.
Attea was dressed as Bulbasaur, though she hated it.
Shar was dressed as the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. A pink cat suit with stripes.
Finally, Ben showed up. And everyone was stunned.
Evie was wearing a monkey costume and Ben was wearing a yellow shirt and pants with a tall yellow hat. They were Curious George and the Man in the Yellow Hat.
"Awe! Aren't you two adorable, beloved!" Looma beamed in awe at the sight of the two.
Evie giggled. "Oooo oooo ah ah!" She jumped around like a little monkey, just like Curious George.
Ben smiled. "Evie chose the outfits. Said she wanted to match with me."
Ester giggled. "Well you definitely match." She adjusted his tie and kissed his cheek.
Evie flew up to Ben's back and perched herself on his shoulders. Her entire face was hidden by the tall yellow hat. "Humph! This won't do!" She moved herself to one shoulder. "This works!"
They joined the group, Evie on Ben's shoulder like the little monkey she was.
Her father kept her supported so she wouldn't fall.
The town was full of people, families trick or treating, playing games, eating delicious foods.
Evie's mothers were all a worried wreck when she went up to get candy, seeing as most of her mothers were aliens who had no concept of Halloween.
Julie and Helen had to explain what it was.
Ben was with Evie of course and their costumes got the most attention.
The girls each took turns walking Evie up houses and getting candy. People thought she was so adorable, they gave her extra candy.
"Ooo ah ooo! Trick or treat!" Evie beamed at every door. And everyone adored her. "Happy Halloween humans!"
He took her to his parents house.
She knocked and Sandra opened the door.
"Oooo ooo aaahhh aahhh!! Trick or treat!!"
She beamed with her green alien eyes.
Sandra gently touched her heart. "Aww look at you two!!" She smiled as she put candy in Evie's basket.
She giggled and went back to her mothers to show the goods.
Sandra smiled at her son. "You're doing so well raising her."
Ben rubbed the back of his head. "What can I say? I learned from you."
She hugged her son, with him returning the hug.
Ben and Evie took a break to eat some candy as the others talked.
Evie gave Ben a piece of candy ,but not knowing it was peanut flavored. And not knowing of her dad's severe nut allergy. Ben took a bite of it and immediately went into shock. His throat began closing up, and face began to swell. "Shit…" He muttered to himself before he started passing out.
The girls ran over freaking out.
Gwen followed. "Quick!! His epipen!!"
Julie reached into the bag and grabbed it. She stabbed it into his leg and Ben started to recover. He gasped for air, after a few minutes. "I'm alright…" He said in a bit of a raspy voice.
Looma helped sit him up. "Are you alright, beloved?" She asked worriedly.
Ben nodded. "I'm fine..." He looked over at Evie.
The little girl felt terrible. "I'm sorry daddy…" Her little green eyes welling up with tears. "I didn't mean to hurt you." She said, hugging him tightly.
Ben held her close. "It's okay love bug, you didn't know. And I didn't pay attention. It's both our faults."
"What even happened?" Ester asked, still slightly panicked and confused about the whole situation.
Gwen spoke up. "Ben's severly allergic to peanuts. So when he ate the candy, which had peanuts. Terrible allergic reaction."
Attea said. "Swelled up like a balloon…coulda sworn he was about to pop." She chuckled.
Helen punched the frog in the arm. "Not funny…"
Attea rubbed her arm. "Sorry, just trying to liven the mood."
"It's fine..." Ben said as he got up slowly and picked up Evie. "Let's enjoy the rest of the night and we'll get dinner." He smiled.
The night went a lot better. Evie's candy bag got so full, she had trouble carrying it.
Luckily, Momma Looma helped her carry it.
Evie giggled. "Thank you, momma."
"You're welcome, my little warrior." The Princess smiled.
Rook and Ben were talking as they walked. The hero was telling his partner about the training he was currently doing. "It's weird... me… learning magic."
Rook listened and answered. "I do admit, it is unexpected. I never took you for someone who had that kind of patience and discipline." The feline Plumber joked.
Ben chucked. "Well…a lot has changed. I have a family, a little girl, and a more humble approach. I can't let everyone down…no matter the cost." He sighed.
"You will do fine, Ben." Rook said as he patted Ben's shoulder.
Ben nodded. "How are you and Rayona? I heard you two were trying for a kid." He smiled.
The Revonnahgander blushed. "Well…we are. But we would like it if you kept it secret. Rayona does not enjoy gossip."
"No problem, pal." Ben smiled. "I won't tell anyone."
Rook smiled back. "Thank you...that means a lot…"
The gang spent a few more minutes out. Evie fell asleep in Ben's arms.
They all said their goodbyes and headed home.
Ben tucked Evie in her bed as the girls showered and cleaned up.
Attea and Helen chose a movie while Ester and Shar made snacks and food.
Looma and Julie made the couch cozy as Ben hopped in the shower once he made sure Evie was asleep.
Ben left the bathroom wearing his sweats and a large t-shirt.
Helen had chosen the movie "Hocus Pocus" and the group sat down to watch it.
Throughout the entire film, the girls told what they would have done differently. One being that they would not even touch the candle.
"Like, they said not to light it and that moron lights it anyway?" Ester replied.
"I would have seen the creepy house, said nope and walked away!" Helen said in agreement.
"Of course you would have, scaredy cat." Julie rolled her eyes.
"What's that supposed to mean?!" Helen huffed
Looma scoffed. "I would have fought those blasted witches and drank from their skulls."
Shar cringed. "Perhaps not be so expletive." She shivered.
Ben just sat there eating the popcorn. "I would have taken that little book and torched it. Can't be used if it isn't in one piece."
Evie climbed out of bed and tiptoed her way to the living room. She made sure to stay very very quiet, and as soon as she got to the couch. "BOO!!!"
All the girls screamed, popcorn flying and snacks everywhere.
Ben busted out laughing. "That's my girl." He pulled her over to his lap and let her finish watching the movie with them.
The perfect way to end All Hallows Eve.
"Ahem! Don't you mean All Hallows Evie." Evie giggled looking over the author's shoulder.
But we all know…things would kick into gear.
Meanwhile…
Warlord Gar was in camp with his remaining followers. Recently, conflict has heated up ever since Khoros was attacked by Vilgax. The Tetramand Clans were desperate to seize power.
The leaders met and came up with a solution…a tournament.
The leaders would choose a champion and whoever was left would be in charge.
Problem is, Gar did not have a champion. All his soldiers were recovering.
He did, however, have someone in mind.
And he would seek this individual out…
