AUTHOR'S NOTE:

This fanfiction project has been an exercise in self discipline and wisdom. Coming up to almost a year now since I began writing this story, there have been many, many moments when I despaired of ever completing it. And it is still not finished.

When I set out on this project, I had many grand visions; of eight novel-length stories written in exquisite detail. A year later, and I only have a third of a story to show for it. I will admit, to myself and you, dear reader, that I was well beyond my depth to complete this project.

I will endeavour to finish this first story. Whether I continue beyond it, I cannot tell right now. When I will finish this story is also up in the air. But I am determined to finish it at some point. I cannot give a more concrete answer than that.

Now, for some disclaimers. Firstly, I am by no means an expert on Warhammer Fantasy lore. I tried to research as much as possible to fill gaps in my knowledge, but there is always the chance that I have missed something somewhere. My apologies to anyone who knows the lore back to front and off by heart.

Secondly, this fanfiction is not completely original. The overarching plot was obtained, with the creator's permission, from a series of videos by the YouTuber "Crypt Ghoul" (cryptghoul8408). I am immensely grateful that he allowed me to attempt to expand his excellent plot into full-length fanfiction. I doubt I have done him the service he deserves, either here or with my writing. Crypt Ghoul, if you are reading this, I apologise for my sluggishness with finishing this.

Thirdly, as a writer, I have taken several creative liberties with minor elements of this story. Several side characters were my own creation, and do not appear in either the Warhammer lore or Crypt Ghoul's videos. Once again, this is due to my interpretation of the overall plotline he laid down.
