Desire
[The scene opens with a shot of the evening sky as it pans down to the city. With October passed and well into November, the weather has gotten noticeably colder as little patches of snow can be seen on several buildings]
[As Kyoko and Mami pass by on the street farthest away from the camera, Jenna is shown coming down the street in the foreground, donning a brown jacket with black boots, and a blue scarf around her neck]
[Jenna passes by Pete and Odette going in the opposite direction. She then sees Balto coming down the street to the right as he turns a corner. She smiles]
Jenna: Ah…
[Jenna goes over the crosswalk to catch up with Balto, but as she comes around the corner, she sees him walking off with Steele…the Siberian husky falters]
Jenna: Oh…never mind…
[Jenna turns around and begins to head back in the direction she came, holding her head down. We then cut to Lady coming down the street as she passes by Petunia and Quick Draw. The Cocker Spaniel notices the husky and waves to her]
Lady: Why, hello, Jenna.
Jenna: Huh? [looks up] Oooooh, Lady, how nice to see you.
Lady: How have you been?
Jenna: I've been doing alright…well, for the most part.
Lady: Meaning?
Jenna: I'll simplify it; seeing old flames and then realizing how much things have changed.
Lady: Oh…I know what you mean, I had that phase not too long ago…[sighs]...it wasn't pleasant to say the least.
Jenna: Yeah…but you have gotten better, I take it?
Lady: O-Oh, yes, of course. I was actually going to meet up with Krystal now, do you wanna come?
Jenna: That would be nice, you sure I'm not inconveniencing you if I show up unexpectedly?
Lady: I don't think she'll mind, you're a nice person, and someone who'll jump at the face of danger to my memory.
Jenna: Yeeeeeah, it's a tick of mine…well, either way, I suppose I'm just in need of some company.
Lady: Well, I'm sure we'll all have something to say on that, shall we head off?
Jenna: Ah, right, lead the way.
[Lady proceeds to lead Jenna down the road as the two pass by Haida, Ookami, Retsuko, and Fenneko]
[The scene cuts to a shot of a door as the bell rings from inside. Krystal goes to open the door to reveal Lady and Jenna standing on the other side]
Krystal: Ah, Lady, so glad you could make it. And very nice to see you too, Jenna.
Lady: [nods] My pleasure, Krystal, I just happened to pick her up as I was walking through town.
Krystal: Well, come in, come in, let's get you two warmed up.
[The two women step inside of the vixen's apartment and proceed to remove their jackets and then remove their boots]
Jenna: Aaaaah, that's better…
[Krystal pops out from the entrance to the kitchen]
Krystal: I've just finished making some hot chocolate on the stove, it'll be out in a minute.
Jenna: Alright then, we'll just make ourselves comfortable.
[Jenna and Lady make their way to the living room and take a seat on the sofa]
Lady: Aaaaaaaah…you have a very cozy home.
[Krystal walks out from the kitchen with mugs of cocoa held on a platter with handles. She steps it down on the coffee table]
Krystal: Why thank you. You know, I never knew people could make hot drinks from cocoa beans, but ever since I first tried it, I found them quite delicious.
Lady: Wait, is that because…oh…uh, never mind.
Krystal: Hmm?
[Lady picks up a mug, followed by Jenna]
Lady: Oh, I hope I didn't come across as rude, but…what was life back where you came from, I'm fairly curious about it.
Krystal: Well, it's a bit of a story. See, as I've mentioned before, I came from a rather…archaic society…
[We transition with the sound of a chime to a jungle setting, with the tune of a pan flute and drums playing in the background. A troop of blue foxes are shown scavenging across the greenery]
…my old planet was home to the Cerinians. We were trained to become warriors to protect our land from invading homeworlds, and to settle any…altercations we would have with our neighboring clans.
[Two vixen warriors are shown covered by the brush as they overlook a clan of wolves]
When I was born, I was raised in the Vixon Clan. I spent most of my life there observing things, being fascinated how magic worked and how I would master it…
[A young Krystal is shown sitting on the other side of a bonfire as an elder warrior, who bears quite a bit of resemblance to Krystal's original design, is casting a spell that spends blue sparkles rising up into the sky. The kit stares up in amazement at the lights]
…that was until…the tribes went to war.
[The scene cuts to a battle taking place between the Wolven Tribe and the Vixon Tribe. Two warriors from each clan are shown pushing against each other]
I ended up being the lucky few to make it out alive…my parents weren't among them…
[Krystal breaks away from the story as she pauses, taking a solemn sip of her cocoa]
[Lady and Jenna look at her with concerned expressions]
Krystal: I'm sorry…as I was saying, I did end up being adopted by the elder of the Wolven Tribe…Randorn was his name, he said to have taken me in after feeling remorseful for what happened to my clan…
[Back to the flashback, Krystal is seen crouching under a tree, appearing to have been crying beforehand as a dark orange lupine stands over her. The kit looks up at the man looking down at her with a soft expression on his face…he kneels down and puts a paw to her own, proceeding to wipe away a tear dripping down her cheek]
He too had lost someone dear to him, his eldest son had been killed in combat, so in a way, even at that time…I knew how he felt…when he took me into his tribe, I was introduced to my new family. He had another son, Sabre.
[Krystal is shown sitting next to a light brown wolf by a bonfire. Sabre smiles at her as he polishes his spear. The blue fox tilts her head, but gives a smile in return while Randorn challenges his energy to the flames, letting off a few sparks as it happens]
For a while, things were peaceful between us. Of course, as you might expect, that didn't last for long. When the Sharpclaws laid siege to the other tribes, we ended up being caught in the crossfire. I ended up becoming separated from Randorn and Sabre, and in spite of fighting with my life, I couldn't overcome General Scales and his army.
[A fierce battle is shown between Krystal, Sabre, Randorn, and the Sharpclaw Clan as spears clang against one another, arrows are shot, and bursts of magic are blasted at their respective targets]
[The adoptive family end up becoming separated as they are forced to retreat into the jungle, but end up being ambushed by the other dinosaurs]
Krystal: I don't know what happened to Randorn or Sabre, but given my homeworld was destroyed…I'm sure you can imagine what became of them…
[Randorn is shown being cornered by several Sharpclaws and in spite of his appearance, he still fights vigorously against his opponents. That is until we see a shot of a Sharpclaw holding a sword behind the lupine's back in a menacing display]
[Sabre is shown attempting to fight to the death even as his opponents try to restrain him. We cut off just as the Sharpclaws fully surround the lupine as before cutting to a cornered Krystal as she stares down the dinos with her eyes narrowed]
Krystal: No matter how hard I fought, I was outnumbered. Eventually, Scales managed to put a spell over me with my own spear, that's how I ended up being encased.
Jenna: Were you…still conscious when you were trapped?
Krystal: …Yes.
Jenna: Oh…
Krystal: I don't know how long I was trapped in there, perhaps I just lost track of time, perhaps I was slowly losing my sanity trying to find any way to break out…eventually, I just…stopped thinking and entered limbo…
[A shot of Krystal in her crystallized prison is shown as the silhouette of someone approaching her appears from the left corner of the screen]
Lady: …Wow, I…I never heard it like that before.
Krystal: Not many know the full extent of my background. Not surprising given how there's nothing left of my old home…
Jenna: I'm sorry to hear that, dear…
Krystal: Thank you…I'm sure you all know the rest; Fox eventually rescued me, we overtook Scales with the help of Prince Tricky, and then I was welcomed onto the Star Fox roster. Still, I sometimes still wonder if there's any remnants of my old family, even if it does sound selfish given the life they provided for me.
Jenna: You don't sound selfish at all, I could never imagine the pain of going through something like that.
Lady: Well, we've all gone through hardships one way or another, that's for sure.
Jenna: Yeah…
Krystal: You've kept your chin up, at least. Me and Lady here…it was a bit of struggle, to put it mildly.
Lady: Yes…at the very least, we've managed to put most of it behind us. I suppose it's just coming to terms with things, is all.
Jenna: I know what you mean, things that used to make sense are now…like a distant memory. I keep seeing it too, even if I've tried to move on.
Krystal: It's not easy at first, that's for sure.
Jenna: I still have those memories…back when things were simpler…back when Balto and I first met, one would think we were two halves of one whole…I still remember those evenings when he'd show me the Aurora Borealis…it was like magic…
[Another transition goes back many years prior, a sort of recreation of the makeshift lightshow Balto showed Jenna during the start of the Diphtheria Epidemic to then showing the two watching the real Aurora Borelis over the Alaskan Mountains. Jenna leans on Balto's shoulder affectionately as she closes her eyes with a sigh. It transitions to her back in the apartment sipping on her mug of cocoa]
Jenna: Sometimes I wish I could relive those moments…I just wish I had someone to share them with…
Lady: I know how that feels, I remember the spark I felt back in the day, when Tramp showed me a night of pleasure…I'll never forget the dinner we shared and how he'd...feel my head against his shoulder…
[As Lady talks, a recreation of the famous spaghetti dinner is played out before transitioning to the two in the park as Lady has her head pressed against Tramp's head, the two sitting in silence as the musical score from the scene also plays in the background before transitioning back to reality]
Lady: It was like nothing I'd ever felt before…I did find out I wasn't his first, but after he came back during the robbery…the flame was rekindled. And now…here I am, still on my own, and splitting custody between my children…isn't that a happily ever after?
[Jenna puts a paw onto Lady's]
Jenna: Hey…you're not alone, it's not easy when there's kids involved…
Lady: I just wish I could find someone who'd love me the same way Tramp did…or if it was even that strong to begin with…what I wouldn't do to feel that spark of joy and warmth from inside again…
[Lady sighs and closes her eyes]
[Transition to musical]
[As the musical number begins, the scene transitions to Lady walking over a wooden bridge overlooking a river while the sunset is in the background. The score begins with a gentle piano melody]
It's that special kind of feeling
All warm to the core
[The Cocker Spaniel holds her arms as Tramp appears from behind to hold on with his own arms]
Used to be at the center of his world
But I'm not anymore...
[As Lady sings, Tramp disappears from where he was standing]
He used to soothe and protect me from harm
Now I only have empty arms...
[A recreated version of the park scene from the film is shown with Lady holding onto Tramp before finding herself alone once more]
I want to feel love again...
The look of longing in one's eyes...
[A close-up shot of Lady's twinkling eyes is shown]
[Cut to Lady slowly walking over the bridge as she stops on the left side]
All the wonder and surprise
Of knowing that the best is yet to come...
[Lady leans over the railing and extends her arm out, looking up to the evening sky]
I want to feel love again...
Give me a sign that will say...
Your true love will come one day
And no longer shall you feel glum
[A shooting star soars overhead]
To make this dream become a reality
Just want to feel lighter than gravity
[Lady raises her feet up to emphasize her point]
I want to feel love again
A gentle brush upon my hand
[An ambiguous paw takes her own in Lady's before it cuts to them running on the beach against the setting sun]
As we run across the sand
Past the sunset over the sea
I want to feel love again
Held close by someone who cares
[The scene transitions to Lady and the silhouetted figure holding paws while sitting on a stone wall]
Exchange the feelings that we share
"I love you and you love me"
[The scene transitions to Lady decked out in an emerald green dress as the center of the ballroom while her mystery partner waltzes with her in a loop]
Donning my finest dress as the belle of the ball
Dancing in the center as the fairest of them all
[The scene transitions to Lady walking up a lone hill while the full moon is high up in the sky]
I want to feel love again...
To be someone else's bride...
That spark of joy I feel inside
Is something I never want to hide...
[Lady gives a spin before landing on the grass, looking up to the stars as a constellation of a heart can be seen]
Give me a sign that will say...
Your most desired will come one day...
[The final shot shows Lady held in the arms of the silhouetted figure, leaning back contentedly]
What I wouldn't give to feel...love again...
[As the song comes to a close, it transitions back to reality as Lady is shown opening her eyes once more, blinking as she realizes that she must have zoned out, per Jenna and Krystal's reactions]
Lady: O-Oh, sorry about that, I kinda…went into another world for a minute.
Krystal: Rather descriptive about it, I'll say. But…it's honestly quite beautiful.
[Lady blushes and tries to distract herself with her mug of cocoa]
Lady: Oh, no, it's rather silly, really…
Jenna: Not at all, hun. It's something we all want, I'm sure…
Lady: But…how do we get it…?
Krystal: Well…is there anyone you particularly fancy?
Lady: Well…um…
[Lady looks over at Jenna…and then at Krystal…then back at Jenna…then back at Krystal…her eyes widen as her pupils shrink, a shade of red slowly appearing on her brown face. The Cocker Spaniel grabs the nearest pillow and stuffs her face in it, giving a muffled whimper]
Jenna: Um…Lady?
Lady: [muffled] I can't say, it's too embarrassing!
Krystal: Now, come on, we won't judge.
Lady: [fraily] Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…
[Lady puts the pillow back down before looking back at the other two women]
Lady: How do I say this without sounding awkward? I…I have had my eye on someone…some folks…
Krystal: Oh…anyone we know?
Lady: Maybe…
Jenna: Well…who are they?
Lady: They're…in my circle…and they've been helping get through the difficult times…
Jenna: Uh-huh, and…wait…are you…?
[Jenna blinks…then looks at Krystal…a blush forms on her face, as well as the blue vixen's]
Krystal: O-Oh! You're referring to…us…
Lady: I'm sorry, I shouldn't have brought it up, I just, I'll leave if you want.
[Before Lady can stand up from the couch, Jenna puts a paw on her arm]
Jenna: Oh, nonono, it's fine, dear. You don't have to get up.
Lady: I don't?
Krystal: No…I just didn't expect this, is all.
Lady: [sighs] I don't know what to say…I understand if I've made things awkward between us.
Krystal: No, it's fine, really…truth be told, I've developed…similar feelings in the meantime.
Lady: You have?
Krystal: I suppose being single for so long has made me realize a few things…I've moved onto…different pastures, if you will.
Jenna: Oh…so like, you're now into…?
Krystal: Hmm-mmm.
Jenna: Oh…well…[looks between Krystal and Lady]...I don't suppose we could help each other out in that regard.
Lady: You mean…you would be up for a…a…oh, dear, I've never done this before.
Krystal: Were you thinking of a trio?
Lady: I think I was searching for the word…trouple?
Jenna: Well, if we're going down that route…might I suggest we lose a bit of space?
Krystal: Hmm? Ah yes, make some room on there, won't you?
[Krystal stands up from her chair and makes her way over to the couch, sitting on the left to Lady who's now in between her and Jenna]
Lady: W-Well…this is…an interesting develop-!
[Lady trails off suddenly as she feels Jenna and Krystal leaning on either of her shoulders]
Lady: Wh…What are you doing?
Krystal: Just…wanted to ease you, luv. If this is uncomfortable, we'll pull off.
Lady: Oh no, no…this is fine…it's…actually kinda nice…I don't think I've felt this for a long time…
Jenna: Hmmmmm…I guess being around Dixie and Sylvie long enough taught me something after all…
[Lady sighs as she feels the Siberian Husky and the blue vixen gently brushing either side of her arms, closing her eyes contentedly]
Lady: Maybe…this could be the start of something new for us…maybe I can truly move on now…
Jenna: That's good to hear…
Lady: Perhaps if I…laid down, we might be more…comfortable…
[Due to the size of the couch, the three end up crawling down to the floor and laying down on the rug, side by side]
Krystal: [sighs] I could get used to this…
Jenna: Same…
[Jenna and Krystal shift their muzzles on either side of Lady's face and give gentle rubs. Lady sighs contentedly]
Lady: Guess I did find it…now…I just want to savor the peace…I hope he has too…
[The scene cuts to outside of another building's window as voices can be heard coming from indoors. It cuts to a table with a deck of cards on it]
Buster: Checkmate!
Steele: Damn it, you stole my six!
Buster: Nah, I'm just better at this game than any of you.
Wolf: Big words coming from you.
Tramp: Funny you mention that, you and Balto have the same amount of cards.
Wolf: Rub it in, won't you?
Tramp: Speaking of which…who's got a three?
Balto: Uh, I do?
Tramp: Ah, lovely, I'll be taking that.
[Tramp takes away Balto's card]
Balto: Aaaah, you're too good at this.
Tramp: I try.
Buster: Fox, it's your serve…Fox?
Fox: [blinks] What, huh? Sorry, uh, anyone have any eights?
Steele: Nooooo…you been zoning out?
Fox: A little bit? I've just had a thought on my mind.
Balto: What about?
Fox: It's…a bit difficult to explain…excuse me, I need to get a drink.
[Fox stands up from his seat and makes his way towards the kitchen. Wolf stands up as well before it cuts to Fox finishing up at the tap for a glass of water. As he drinks it, Wolf comes up behind him]
Wolf: You hanging there?
Fox: Hmm? Oh…sorry, I'm just…lost in thought is all.
Wolf: That being?
Fox: An old friend…I hope she's getting on alright.
Wolf: Man, you gotta stop worrying about that…I mean, I'm sure she's doing fine.
Fox: Coming from you, I'm taking that with a grain of salt.
Wolf: You just need to relax, take your mind off it. Besides, a leader needs to look the part.
Fox: "Haha", am I not picture perfect enough for you?
Wolf: Nah…you're just perfect standing there before me.
Fox: …You're so cheesy.
Wolf: And you're my golden boy.
Fox: Hmmmmmm, I'll let you think that.
[Fox gives a coy boop to Wolf's nose before returning to the table. Wolf gives him a sly look as he follows on. The scene cuts to the two arriving back at the table]
Buster: What was that all about?
Fox: Oh nothing, just a passing thought…my turn.
[The scene cuts to outside of the room as the cold winter continues to blow]
[Cut to black]
