Angelina's Adventure

[The scene opens with a shot of a flour mill that runs by the railway. James is waiting for his trucks to be loaded with flour. The red engine hums his own theme to pass the time]

James: Da-da-da-da-da-da, da-da-da, da-da, da-da, da-da, da-da…

[At that moment, we are shown the wheels of a bicycle coming down the road as the camera pans up to a white-furred mouseling humming her own tune as the rendition plays in the background. She passes by the flour mill and gives a ring of her bell at James]

Angelina: Hello, James!

[The red engine gives a polite toot-toot of his whistle in return]

James: Hello, Angelina! Lovely day, isn't it?

Angelina: Very lovely.

[As Angelina continues on her journey, she passes by several more locations along the way. By a pond, Clifford and Garfield have their fishing lines in the water, Rarity, Pinkie, and Fluttershy have set up a picnic on the grass, Yakko, Wakko, and Dot are tossing a frisbee between each other, and Zorori is lazily dozing under a tree while Fix and Foxi are hanging over the branches]

[Cut to Angelina crossing over a bridge that stretches over a river as a narrowboat goes under it]

[We then cut to Angelina passing through the town of Maple as she passes by a coffee shop, book store, a restaurant, and a toy shop. On the sidewalk, Alice is shown waiting by an ice cream shop while Jinks, Porky, Jenna, Kodi, Rapunzel, Juno, Haru, Bonkers, and Ace Hart walk past behind her. The brown-furred mouseling looks over to hear the jingle of a bicycle bell as Angelina pulls up next to her]

Alice: There you are, Angelina, I was wondering where you'd got to.

Angelina: Oh, I was just admiring the scenery. It really is such a nice day outside.

Alice: You're not wrong there, the perfect day for a serving of ice cream and a bike ride.

[Alice looks over at her own bike, parked on the stills as she and Angelina head into the shop, coming out with chocolate and strawberry ice cream cones as Steele, Aurora, Pixie, and Dixie pass by in opposite directions]

Angelina: So, what were you thinking?

Alice: Maybe going to Cherry Park? I hear there's some new flowers growing there.

Angelina: Sounds good to me.

[Angelina and Alice head back to their bikes as Angelina hands her ice cream to Alice so she can board her bike. Angelina repeats the same gesture with Alice's ice cream as the other mouse gets on her own bike]

[The two depart through the town as the camera pans up to the sky, mostly clear with some clouds scattered about]

[That is until the scene transitions to that night, by which point the weather has changed for the worst. A big storm ravages across the island as the wind howls over the Evergreen Forest and the rain pelts down]

[Transition to the curtains swishing about in Jasmine's room]

[Transition to the shutters on Snow White's cottage flapping in the wind]

[Transition to a water tower falling over, spilling its contents all over the tracks]

[Transition to several pieces of wood flying off the roof of a barn]

[Transition to the interior of Angelina's room where the little mouseling is tucked in her bed, listening to the wind and rain outside. She blinks several times before dropping off to sleep as the rain pelts down on the roof]

[The scene transitions to the next morning as Angelina blinks and yawns, stretching her arms]

Angelina: Aaaaaaaaah…tck, tck…right…time for breakfast…

[Angelina hops out of her bed and makes her way out the door to the bathroom, the sound of water being heard off-screen]

[Cut to Angelina walking down the stairs before turning towards the kitchen where her mother is cooking eggs on the stove, while her father is reading the newspaper with a cup of coffee nearby. Her baby sister Polly is sat on the high chair, playing with the spoon]

Angelina: Morning, mum, dad, Polly.

Matilda: Good morning, dear.

Maurice: Ah, yes, good morning, Angelina. Bit of nasty weather last night, wasn't it?

Matilda: Indeed, I'm surprised nothing came off the roof. Here you go, Angelina.

[Matilda sets the plate of eggs and toast in front of her daughter before attending to her other daughter]

Polly: Meh-meh…

Matilda: Don't worry, mummy will feed you. Now, open wide~

[Polly giggles as her mother puts a bit of feed into her mouth while Angelina eats her own breakfast. She looks around the kitchen]

Angelina: Now…where did I leave it? Ah!

[Angelina heads over to the corner of the kitchen where a basket is set upon a stool]

Angelina: Mustn't forget the necessities.

Matilda: Going somewhere, Angelina?

Angelina: Oh, yes, Alice and I are going to have a picnic in Cherry Park, I'm bringing the food while she's bringing the cloth and plates.

Maurice: Well, in that case, I just hope you'll account for the weather. I've heard it's supposed to rain again later today.

[Angelina waves her hand dismissively]

Angelina: Oh, no need to worry about that. I'll be back in plenty of time. I just need to change clothes.

[Angelina heads back upstairs to change out of her pajamas and into her regular pink dress, taking the basket with her and setting it on the floor. She then arranges her bed to its default setting before pulling out a brush from her drawer and going to the mirror to check herself]

Angelina: Right, just need to get that sorted and…

[Angelina finishes her brushing and puts it back in the drawer before pulling out one of her bows. She ties it on the top of her head and then picks the basket up from the floor. She goes down the stairs and stops by the front door]

Angelina: I'll be back by afternoon!

Matilda: Just be safe out there!

Angelina: I will, goodbye!

[Angelina opens the door and begins to head outside. She stops suddenly and gasps]

[In front of the house is a terrible mess; branches and leaves are scattered all across the roads and fields, several trees have been blown down, and bits of debris are littered everywhere as far as the eye can see]

Angelina: I knew the storm was bad last night, but I didn't think it was this bad! Hooooo, I just hope this won't ruin our picnic…

[Angelina heads over to the shed and picks out her bicycle, setting the basket in the bicycle's basket before pedaling off through the lawn and out onto the road, all while avoiding the new obstructions]

[Transition to Angelina going down the road when she's suddenly stopped by warning signs. The Pontypandy Fire Service is tending to a large hole in the road]

Station Officer Steele: Halt! So sorry, Miss Mouseling, but this road is currently under repair.

Angelina: Ooooh, how am I supposed to get through?

Fireman Sam: Well, there's a fork in the road several yards back, it'll take you around the obstruction, lass.

Angelina: [sighs] Alright…thank you…

[As Angelina goes back the way she came, we cut to Fireman Elvis humming a little tune as he removes the debris around the hole]

Fireman Elvis: Hmmhmm, big, big hole, home to a mole, big as a great ole pasta bowl, takin' away debris, livin' free, and I-OH!

[Elvis trips on a piece of debris behind him]

Firefighter Penny: Oh, mind where you step, Elvis.

Fireman Sam: You alright there, chap?

Fireman Elvis: Oh, ya', sorry about that, just got a little distracted, eh?

[Sam chuckles while Steele shakes his head]

[The scene cuts to Angelina having taken the alternative route when Alice suddenly pulls up next to her with the cloth and plates in her basket]

Alice: Oh, Angelina, there you are. I was just on my way to see if you were still coming.

Angelina: Oh, of course, Alice, I just got rerouted because of this storm damage.

Alice: Never mind, I'm sure there's still time to catch our picnic.

[The two mice continue to make their way down the road when they spot Cadpig, clearing away branches from the road]

Angelina: Huh, I didn't expect her to be out here.

[At that moment, Cadpig turns up from her cleaning and faces toward the mice]

Cadpig: Why, hello, Angelina, Alice. Isn't it a fine day to be cleaning mother Earth?

Alice: Well, as a result of the storm, there's plenty to clean up.

Cadpig: Indeed, of course, one can never have too many hands making sure everything is neat and tidy. I just have this…need for wanting to help people out in these times.

Angelina: In that case, I see you've got several piles of leaves and branches set up. Not too bad.

Cadpig: Naturally. It's just a shame not everyone can be a good samaritan, but I suppose beggars can't be choosers.

Angelina: Yes, indeed, I-

[Record scratch as Angelina's expression changes to one of irritation]

Angelina: -I'm sorry, what did you mean by that?

Cadpig: Well, while I'm clearing away all this debris, you two are off on a…picnic? Tsk-tsk-tsk, not very helpful, are you?

Angelina: Um, excuse me, but there's no need to be hostile.

Cadpig: Oh, I'm not the one being hostile, but I can sense in your spirit that a fire is lying in wait.

Angelina: You're a smug one, aren't you?

Cadpig: Not like I don't deserve it, not everyone can have it as good as I do.

Angelina: That's debatable given your, AHEM, track record.

[This time, Cadpig glowers at Angelina]

Cadpig: Implying you know me?

Angelina: In fact, I do.

Alice: Um, Angelina? Maybe we should get going?

Cadpig: You know I've knocked people into space for giving me an attitude!

Angelina: Ah yes, the resolve to anything that doesn't go your way, and you claim to be a guide of "spiritual growth." Pot, kettle, black?!

Cadpig: How about you take that tail of yours and ride along?

Angelina: I just might do that, in fact, we'll see just who the "good samaritan" is, won't we?

Cadpig: In any case, it'll be pitiful to see you outdo me

Angelina: That shouldn't be hard to do. Come on, Alice, we're leaving!

[Angelina huffs off as Alice follows on with a concerned expression, leaving Cadpig to continue her work, but gives a rather vulgar gesture at the white mouse as the Dalmatian puts a paw on her face]

Cadpig: Drama queen…

Angelina: Spotted brat…

[Alice pulls up alongside Angelina]

Alice: Are you sure it was right to engage with her? You know Cadpig is like that.

Angelina: Personally, I don't think she gets enough engagement, seeing as she's so high and mighty on everything. I can be just as helpful as her, even more so!

Alice: Um, I'm not saying ya' can't be, but how are you going to do it?

Angelina: Well, we'll just find someone that needs help with the clean-up, and do it better.

Alice: And our picnic?

Angelina: Oh, we'll get to it soon, I promise. Now…there's got to be somewhere we can assist…

[The mice continue their journey down the road until they come to a barn where the boards of a roof have scattered around the field. Foghorn Leghorn and Barnyard Dawg can be heard arguing amongst one another]

Foghorn: Now, listen here, boy, I say, listen here, boy! That ole roof was your handiwork and it couldn't last a lil' wind, now, what's ta' happen if a hurricane comes, I say, if a hurricane comes a knockin'!

BD: Aaaaaah, shuddup! You don't do dirt around here besides shoutin' like a piece a' fried chicken!

Foghorn: [splutters] Fried chicken?! I oughta cover you in flour and stir you, I say, stir you in hot water!

Angelina: [off-screen] Um, excuse me?

[The rooster and the canine suddenly stop their quarreling as they look over to see Angelina and Alice. Foghorn chuckles as he puts on a gentlemanly persona]

Foghorn: Hohoho, well, I do declare, if it ain't a pair of lil dames! What brings you to this humble farm?

Angelina: I couldn't help but notice the roof.

Foghorn: Oh, that ole thang, well, the storm blew it right off, although…[lowers his voice]...between you and me, it's not surprisin' given who built it.

Alice: I see…well, we were wondering if you needed any help.

Foghorn: Dawwww, you girls won't wanna get tied up in this, it's a lotta work for a big strong roosta'!

Angelina: Well, four hands are better than two if you think about it. AND, we could throw in a bit of compensation.

Foghorn: Compensation, ya' say?

[Angelina smiles as she opens the basket and pulls out a pie]

Angelina: Fresh cheese pie by my mother?

Foghorn: Hohohohoho, little lady, ya' gotcha yourself, I say, ya' gotcha yourself a deal!

[Angelina claps her hands together, seemingly having put the pie back]

Angelina: Excellent!

Foghorn: Soooooo, about this pie a' yours-

Angelina: After the deal is done.

Foghorn: [clears throat] Of course, anyway, follow me, little ladies.

Alice: What have I gotten myself into…?

[Transition to the interior of the barn as Angelina holds up the ladder for Barnyard Dawg as he takes measurements of the hole. That is until Foghorn passes by with a long piece of timber, knocking it into the ladder and sending the canine falling onto the top floor. This knocks off a pile of hay, covering Angelina below]

Angelina: PAH! PHEW!

[Transition to Foghorn casually shifting through a toolbox, throwing about a hammer, a saw, a screwdriver, a wrench, and a mallet. BD comes onto the scene carrying more timber before having to dodge the projectiles]

[Alice is carefully bringing the ladder when she trips over the mallet and slips onto the mud]

Alice: OH! OOF!

[Transition to Angelina hammering down the boards on the roof while Foghorn has his back pressed against the ladder. The rooster lazily slumps on the ladder, causing it to straighten and Angelina to titter for dear life]

Angelina: Ooooooh! Careful down there!

[Angelina grabs hold of the roof, but the planks separate and she falls through the hole, right into a stack of hay]

Angelina: PHO! Not again…

[Transition to BD hammering the timber into the roof while Foghorn sits on the roof taking in the sun's rays]

[Alice is shown coming up with a pitcher of lemonade]

Alice: Do you two want a drink?

Foghorn: Hmmmm, I could go, I say, I could go for a nice cool refresher, just lemme hop down and-WHOOPS!

[Foghorn loses his footing and slips down the roof, sliding into BD as both of them fall off, right into the mud, splashing both Angelina and Alice]

Foghorn: BOOFH!

BD: RAH!

Alice: GAH!

Angelina: OOH!

Foghorn: Agggggggh…uhh, sorry, Dawg, bit of a slippery spot up there.

BD: Remind me never to let you work on anything.

[Angelina looks down at her now mud and straw-covered clothes with dismay]

Angelina: Hoooooooo, my mother's going to be up in arms seeing this…

Alice: So much for a picnic, eh?

BD: AHEM, uh, I think a good lot's been done…not bad, you two.

Foghorn: Hoho, guess we're eatin' good this afternoon!

Angelina: Um…yes…right…where do you want the pie?

Foghorn: Why, you can leave it on that, I say, on that lil ole table right there, just need to clean up. Can't have, I say, can't have this shiny coat all dirty.

Alice: Isn't that ironic…?

[As Foghorn goes to find a towel to clean the mud off his fur, Angelina props herself against a fence with a sigh]

Angelina: When I wanted to help, I didn't think it would end up like this…just hope it was worth it…

[Angelina closes her eyes to rest for a little bit…but then she has a flash to the events of "Nightmares", particularly what was said in her dream sequence…Angelina opens her eyes immediately, blinks…and then looks over at Alice with an uncertain expression]

Angelina: Um, Alice?

Alice: Yes, Angelina?

Angelina: Am I…too obsessive about perfection?

Alice: Uhhhhhh…

Angelina: It's alright, you can be honest with me.

Alice: In that case…you do come off as such at times.

Angelina: I figured as much…

Alice: Why do you ask though?

Angelina: It's just…what Cadpig said to me earlier. The whole "good samaritan" thing…this wasn't me being a tryhard, was it? You know, with the barn?

Alice: I mean, it's a good thing that you wanted to help, but I do think you sometimes let what people say get to you.

Angelina: That bad?

Alice: I'm saying it as a friend, Angelina, I get you want to impress wherever possible, but maybe don't push yourself too hard.

Angelina: …I really let myself get carried away with this whole thing, didn't I?

Alice: Maybe a little bit…but at the same time, ya' still did good.

Angelina: [sighs] Thank you, Alice…

Alice: C'mon, let's have that picnic already.

[Angelina and Alice walk over to the table where BD is cleaning himself off with a napkin, they take a seat on the opposite end as Foghorn returns, freshly clean as a whistle]

BD: If ya' two want, I can get ya' clean before you leave.

Angelina: You would do that?

BD: Of course, I always think a' the guests.

Foghorn: [muffled] Boy, I say, that is some good pie!

BD: [sighs] Please eat with your mouth closed…

[Transition to Angelina and Alice biking back up the lane, slightly less dirty than before, but still having a few bits of dirt and straw on their outfits. By this point, it's late in the day, practically afternoon]

Angelina: Hooooo, what a day…

Alice: I know once I get home, I'm headin' straight for the bath.

Angelina: With any luck, my parents won't be too annoyed seeing me like this.

Alice: I wouldn't worry too much about it, say you were working on a farm and that'll do.

Angelina: I suppose…and it's not like I'd be telling a lie either…oh, is that Miss Lilly?

[Sure enough, the mouselings' ballet teacher is shown walking down the lane with a purse in hand, taking in the fresh air. She smiles upon seeing her students]

Miss Lilly: Oh, hello there, my darlings.

Alice: Hi, Miss Lilly!

Angelina: Hello!

Miss Lilly: Well, you two look like you've had a busy day.

Angelina: Haaaaaaa, don't we know it…would you believe we were repairing a barn roof?

Miss Lilly: That certainly explains it, nice to see my little mouselings helping out with the damage.

[Angelina and Alice blush modestly]

Angelina: Well…it's nothing, really…

Miss Lilly: Hmmhmmhmm, if you ask me, I would say it's something. Especially given your appearance.

[Angelina is still blushing as she looks over herself]

Angelina: I really should be getting home, I'll need a proper clean before dinner.

Alice: I should, too.

Miss Lilly: In that case, I shan't keep you waiting.

Angelina: Thank you, goodbye, Miss Lilly.

Alice: Bye, Miss Lilly.

Miss Lilly: Goodbye, my darlings.

[Angelina and Alice continue to bike back the route they came while Miss Lilly continues her walk. As the two girls travel down the road, the KND are clearing off the last bits of debris from their treehouse. Angelina then sees something…and then blinks twice to make sure she wasn't seeing things]

[On her side, Cadpig has sunk down in a ditch while Fix and Foxi have thrown a rope to pull her out. Angelina doesn't say anything, she just grins to herself]

[The scene transitions to Angelina's house as she and Alice stop before the front gate]

Angelina: [sighs] Well, we made it.

Alice: It wasn't the day out I was expecting…but not an unpleasant one at that.

Angelina: Alice?

Alice: Yeah?

Angelina: Thank you…for putting up with all of this.

Alice: Hmmhmm, what are friends for? See ya', Angelina.

Angelina: Bye, Alice.

[As Alice bikes away, Angelina pulls into her yard and puts her own bike into the shed before going towards the house. She brushes herself down once more before knocking on the door. A few seconds pass before Matilda comes to the entrance]

Matilda: There you are, Angelina. You've been gone nearly the whole day…and what happened to you?

Angelina: It's a long story...involves fixing a barn roof.

Matilda: …At least come inside so we can clean you up.

Angelina: I couldn't agree more…

[Angelina steps inside the house and the scene transitions to a fully clean mouseling at the dinner table, explaining the events from earlier]

Maurice: Sounds like you had a rather interesting day, Angelina.

Angelina: Indeed I did. But, at the very least, I'm glad it's over.

[Angelina takes a sample of her warm soup and smacks her lips in satisfaction]

Angelina: Aaaaah…
