The Seventh Winx
[We begin with a shot of Cedar Harbor as Cranky is shown loading crates onto a tramper, while below him, Salty is shunting a line of trucks in order while Oliver passes by with a train of tankers, with his brake van Toad at that back. In the harbor mouth, Big Mac and O.J. pass each other with their respective barge loads of steel pipes and coal]
[Transition to a shot of a level crossing as Toby and Henrietta pass by Bertie waiting behind the gates. As the tram engine trundles along, a pair of butterflies flutter past him. Toby smiles in kind]
Toby: Hmmhmm, isn't that lovely?
[Cut to Toby puffing away as Mavis comes along in the opposite direction with a train of stone]
[We transition to the Evergreen Forest with the shot positioned above the treetops before it pans down to the forest proper. Amidst the sound of birds chirping, leaves rustling in the occasional breeze, and the distant sound of other animals walking or trodding among the forest, we see a girl with magenta hair walking through the trees and brush, carrying a backpack with her]
[We are given a better look at the girl as she is properly revealed as Roxy. The Fairy of Animals takes a deep breath and sighs contently at her surroundings]
Roxy: Aaaaaaah…this place is so beautiful in the spring. Especially since the animals are finally out of hibernation.
[Above Roxy, a pair of squirrels can be seen running along a tree branch while a deer skips on in the background. We cut to the river as Roxy walks along it. She notices some raccoons scurrying on the other side of the river while also noticing the fish swimming in the water. Roxy stops and takes a seat a few feet away from the shore, removing her backpack and setting it down next to her. She unzips the pack and takes out a few items; a sandwich, a bag of chips, a carton of strawberries, and a water bottle]
[Roxy unwraps the sandwich and begins to eat, taking the time to listen to the sounds of nature]
Roxy: [sighs] You know, when you're not dealing with the possible destruction of humanity, you tend to appreciate these moments more…I mean, I used to do this a lot anyway, before I got wrapped up in all that fairy stuff…
[Roxy reaches for the chips as she recalls a memory from her youth. We ripple back to a younger Roxy and her father Klaus walking through the woods with their own packs. The little girl looks up as a couple of birds fly above the trees. She smiles as she continues to follow her father down the trail as the camera pans up to the trees]
[We transition to a shot of Roxy and Klaus in a canoe as they travel down the river. As she looks to her right, the little girl suddenly notices a grey wolf amidst the bushes. Roxy stares at the creature for a little bit before giving a wave to it. The lupine seemingly nods at this before heading back into the brush]
[Ripple back to the present as Roxy is now lying on the grass as she looks up to the sky]
Roxy: I wonder…when I was young, large animals never really frightened me for some reason…maybe that was just part of my powers…even if I didn't know I was a fairy at the time.
[Roxy reaches over to the carton of strawberries. She pops two into her mouth before pondering further. She thinks back to when she had first met the Winx, how she had initially thought of them as rather pompous and self-righteous, especially in regards to them sneaking up on her after discovering who had been adopting many of the fairy pets. Roxy shakes her head at the memory]
Roxy: Apparently, breaking and entering is just kinda their thing…they're a strange bunch for sure…yet I suppose that's kinda the appeal. Even if I got dragged into a whole conflict against my better judgement…still, it did bring my family back together…
[Roxy thinks back to her mother Morgana and Klaus meeting up after so many years of separation, her enrollment at Alfea Academy, and her new association with the Winx…the last one causes her to pause]
Roxy: …I know this might sound odd, but…the girls do consider me as part of their own, right? [shakes her head] What am I saying, of course they do. That's why they had that whole mission to begin with…talk about odd, I'm the one still talking to myself…
[Roxy looks away as she takes a sip of her water bottle to soothe her nerves, however, the indecisiveness over her position in the Winx Club still plagues her mind. To try and alleviate this current thought, Roxy decides to walk for a little bit more and distract herself by looking at different parts of the forest. She packs up her things and stands up before walking away]
[For a little bit, this seems to work, the sounds of the river give Roxy a sense of peace and the chirping of birds adds a bit of melody to the mix. As she continues, Roxy hears some rustling in the bushes. She listens intently to the brush, but as she decides to get closer, the Fairy of Animals is suddenly taken aback as a fox swoops out from the shrub]
Roxy: Oh!
[Roxy falls back onto the grass. But the fox doesn't seem to notice her as it carries on its way]
Roxy: Huh…hehe…heeeeeeeh…
[Roxy stands up once more and brushes herself down. However, she then notices something has fallen out of her pocket]
Roxy: Oh! Shoot, almost forgot this…
[Roxy picks up the item, but before she can put it back in its place, she looks over it carefully. The item in question is a a colorful jewel that is comprised of the Winx's main colors, with an inscription on the back titled "Lucky Number Seven"]
[Roxy stares at it for a bit…it was a gift made by Bloom and Stella upon Roxy's initiation into the Winx Club. She gives a little smile at the memory as she felt like it solidified her presence in the club, even if she was noticeably younger than the more experienced fairies]
Roxy: I mean…sure, I'm technically not on the same level as them, but they still see me as one…right? Like, I might not be an Enchantix fairy or whatever, but I can still hold my own…I really need to stop talking to myself…
[Roxy looks up to the trees before looking back towards the path, seeing one of the signs that says "To Poplar" to the left, and "To Teak" to the right. She takes the latter that leads to a terminus on the miniature railway]
[Transition to Roxy arriving at the station as the Dalmatian Street family are all lined up next to one another. The locomotive of transport; Mike, is sat at the platform with his coaches, an impatient look on his face, raring to start. The smallest pup, Dorothy, notices the taller girl and gives an innocent wave at her. Roxy sees this and gives a polite wave back]
[Mike gives a "Peep! Peeeeeeep!" on his whistle]
Mike: Come along! All aboard, you lot! This train's due out in five minutes!
[On that command, the passengers board the carriages, with Roxy herself sat at the back of the consist. While perhaps not intentional, seeing the family chatting amongst themselves in front of her, and then Roxy sitting on her lonesome, makes the girl feel rather isolated]
Roxy: [sighs] Maybe fresh air isn't enough sometimes…
[The guard blows the whistle, Mike gives a departing "pip-pip", and the train sets off from the station towards the main terminus at Willow. We transition to the station as Rex is shown pushing some ballast hoppers onto the chute while Bert passes Mike on the opposite line with some flatbeds. Mike stops at the terminus to let off his passengers for Duck to take back along the branchline. As Roxy leaves the carriage, she's still lost in thought as she walks up to the bridge connecting the large and small platforms. She pauses on the bridge to look down for a bit]
[Daisy passes under the bridge going up while Oliver passes by doing down. Roxy sighs as she leans on the railing]
?: You look a bit down.
Roxy: Huh?
[Roxy suddenly turns to her right, before her is an unfamiliar face, at least to Roxy since the audience is probably familiar with the person in question]
Selina: I couldn't help but notice you looked a little sad there.
Roxy: Ugh, what is it with people spying on me?
Selina: I'd hardly call it spying, merely an observation if you will. Plus, it's not hard to pick out the gray cloud in this area.
Roxy: How would you know I was feeling upset?
Selina: Your body language gave it away. Not trying to be rude, mind you.
Roxy: Don't see how that makes sense, but alright.
Selina: AHEM, my apologies, I didn't mean to intrude.
Roxy: [sighs] It's fine…I guess I've just had a lot on my mind lately…
Selina: Oh…and what was that?
Roxy: Normally, I wouldn't say such to a stranger…but, if you must know, I was hoping to go on a group walk with the girls, but they were all busy.
Selina: Well…that's understandable.
Roxy: I know it sounds petty and I'm still glad I went anyway, but, something about them felt a little…despondent…
Selina: Hmm…feeling a bit left out, were you?
Roxy: What? No, I mean, maybe a little bit, but then again, they've got their own things to deal with.
Selina: Interesting…well, I won't bother you further. Good day…
[As Selina walks off, Roxy raises a brow at her]
Roxy: Huh, what a strange girl…you'd think I was being pressed about being the last fairy on Earth again…
[While Roxy is muttering this to herself, Selina is now on the standard gauge platform, glancing up at the Earth fairy through a brochure]
Selina: She's a sassy one for sure…almost like…
[Selina doesn't finish her sentence as she disappears behind the crowd]
[The scene cuts to Duck traveling along the line before we cut to the interior of one of the coaches. On the left side of the carriage, Winnie the Pooh and Piglet are chatting amongst one another, as are Alice and Wendy, while the likes of Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo have a giant map in front of them, pointing to various locations. On the right side of the carriage their sisters and guardians; Applejack, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash, watch on with bemusement. On the same side are the Miao Family sat next to one another and in front of them are Mirta and Lucy leaning on each other's shoulders]
[At the back of the coach, Roxy is shown leaning against the window as she glances at the passing countryside. While her interaction with Selina was strange, she can't help but think back on it]
Roxy: [sighs] Something about her…felt off…the way she was interrogating me, like she knew me…or am I just overthinking it…?
[Roxy's arm slumps from the window as she puts her hands to her lap, looking down at the floor]
Roxy: Then again, sometimes I feel a bit…isolated…
[While Roxy is distracted by her thoughts, she doesn't notice two people approaching her]
?: Hey, are you Roxy?
Roxy: Huh?
[Roxy looks up to see Mirta and Lucy standing in front of her]
Roxy: Oh, hi…um…I'm sorry, it's…Mirta, right?
Mirta: Yup, as plain as the sun does shine.
Lucy: More like as beautiful as the moon shines.
Mirta: [blushes modestly] Awwww, c'mon, Lucy.
Lucy: What? You know it's the truth.
Roxy: Oh yeah, you two are Flora's friends, if I remember right?
Mirta: Helped me through some hard times for sure, especially with that whole pumpkin incident.
Lucy: Ever since then, we've popped in a few times to see whatever the news the Winx have…when the world isn't being submerged in total chaos.
Mirta: Except, I don't think we've really gotten to know you all that well.
Roxy: Well, I guess I just didn't see you guys all that often.
Mirta: Yeah…that might have been our fault, I got caught up with my studies at Alfea, Lucy had her studies at Cloud Tower, and then the girls went to Gardenia for a long time.
Lucy: Truth be told, I didn't think there were any fairies on Earth, given their supposed abstract sense of magic.
Roxy: Believe me when I say that I didn't think fairies were real at first. At least until six of them appeared right before my eyes…strange times…
Mirta: Hmmm, even so, you wouldn't mind if we sat down, for a little company, ya' know?
Roxy: Oh, sure, go right ahead.
[Mirta and Lucy take their seats next to Roxy]
Lucy: Ya' know, if you ever feel in the mood, you're more than welcome to stop by a visit in the witches' club. Trust me, we're not anti-fairy anymore, unless you tick us off.
Mirta: I would know, I used to be a witch before I became a fairy and they've not laid a hand on me. Though, that's probably due to Lucy's protectiveness.
Lucy: Only lookin' to protect my woman.
Roxy: Hmmhmm, you two are adorable.
[We cut to a shot of Duck heading off into the distance as we then transition to later in the evening as Roxy makes it back to her own place. She sets her bag down on the table in the living room and goes to the fridge to pull out some lasagna for dinner]
Roxy: [humming] With a smile you can enchant, you light up our world…
[Roxy appears to have perked up a bit from her chat with Mirta and Lucy as she takes the dish from the microwave to the table to eat. Then, out of the corner of her eye, Roxy spots something having dropped on the floor. She goes over to inspect the item and notices that's a sketch, picking it up to examine the drawing]
Roxy: Oh…this is the commission Bloom gave me a while back…
[We are shown the sketch in full, showing the seven fairies lined up in various poses against a sunset background. Roxy smiles at the picture as we ripple to a sequence of the main Winx fairies in their Enchantix forms, flying high and shining brightly over the land…we then see Roxy in her own form, seemingly eclipsed by the more grandiose six, left far behind…we ripple back to reality as Roxy slowly puts the picture on the table, a look of doubt plastered on her face…]
