Frozen Furrball
[The scene opens with a shot of the wind whistling snow in the air as a somber clarinet melody plays. We pan down to a town as the wind dances around lampposts and beats against doors or windows. Pan over to an alley as we are shown an array of boxes scattered around the area until we stop at one that is noticeably shaking]
[The timeline appears to be set in the past as the setting might appear familiar to some viewers]
[Cut to inside of the box where we're greeted to the sight of a shivering Furrball clutching onto his knees, his teeth chattering as well. He shuts his eyes as the wind lashes into his box]
Furrball: N-N-Need to keep the d-d-door shut…
[Furrball reaches for a roll of tape to shut the cardboard flaps, but has trouble holding them down due to the ferocity of the wind outside. A wisp of snow is suddenly thrust into his face, to which the feline blows off]
Furrball: PHOOEY!
[Furrball finally manages to pull down the flaps and puts a bit of tape around the gap to hold it in place. He sighs with relief as, while the wind is still howling outside, at the very least, he won't have to deal with it as much]
[With that said, the blue feline doesn't feel any warmer as he huddles under a raggedy old blanket while the snow and wind continue to whistle and wisp around the box]
[A harp plays as the scene fades to black before fading back to the scene proper, set in the present day. We pan down from the daylight to a shot of the railway line. At that moment, a streak of green flashes by the camera as the Flying Scotsman rushes past with a train for Elm]
[Cut to one of the carriage windows as Furrball is shown looking out, viewing the snowy countryside as the train passes by Donald and Douglas clearing the line on the opposite track before going over a crossing where the Can-Do Crew are waiting to cross]
[Transition to the town of Elm where Furrball is shown walking amongst the other civilians. The blue feline reaches into his pocket and pulls out his wallet, revealing a surprisingly decent amount of cash inside]
Furrball: [sighs] Finally saved up enough money. Now, to buy gifts for the others.
[Furrball continues on his way, passing by Kenai, Kodi, Hercules, Megara, Tarzan, Jane Porter, Johnny B, and Samurai Jack before stopping before one of the shops as Angelina, Alice, and Henry step out, the former two donning new coats of red and green while the latter has a new white vest]
Angelina: Oh, Alice, that shade of green does suit you.
Alice: Thanks, Angelina, and I must say, you're not half bad in red.
Angelina: Why thank you, I always knew I could pull it off. Remember that tango we practiced a while back?
Alice: Hmmhmm, you made a very lovely senorita as I recall.
Angelina: [blushes modestly] I did, didn't I?
Henry: Um, does this white look good on me?
Angelina: Well, it's a nice change from the typical yellow, I'll say.
Alice: Besides, I'd say it looks nice against the snow.
Angelina: Hmmhmm, more like it blends with the snow.
Henry: Oh, I've got William's present in my pocket!
[Henry pulls out a little box from his vest pocket]
Angelina: Make sure you keep that secure, Henry.
Henry: I will, Angelina, I promise.
[As the mice walk away, the camera pans over to Furrball looking down at his wallet before peering over at the shop before looking down once more at his shirt. Ever since his admission to the university, he'd gained a new yellow t-shirt for a casual outfit, in contrast to his prior bare fur appearance]
[However, as the Danger Rangers pass by, Furrball looks back at the window displays and winces at the price tags]
Furrball: Ooooooooooh, why do clothes have to be so expensive? It'd be easier to wear nothing at all…though, the irony of me saying that…
[Displeased with his findings, Furrball continues on his way to look at another shop, this time one that sells antiques. To the shop's credit, Furrball's attention is immediately drawn to several items standing in the window display]
Furrball: Hmmmm, that might look promising.
[Furrball decides to go inside the shop that is titled "Marigolds". Upon stepping in, we see a lot of vintage memorabilia and other items lined up on the shelves. Furrball looks around to see if there's anything worth picking up]
[As he rounds a corner, he stops something out of the corner of his eye. Behind a snowglobe of Frosty the Snowman and a replication of the Mickey Mouse and Walt Disney statue, is a plaque reading "Class of 1991" with the students' names engraved in gold lettering]
Furrball: Huh, now how did this get in here…?
[Furrball takes the plaque and reads the names]
Furrball: …In a way, this could be good student memorabilia…on the other hand, can't say I have the fondest memories of those days either.
[Furrball puts the plaque back where it came from and continues to search around the shelf. At last, he finds something that looks appealing; a pair of rocket boots with the inscription reading "Shoes of the Future"]
Furrball: Hmmmmm, Calamity might be interested in those, assuming he doesn't have a pair already. Price tag is…oh, well, that might be…you know what, it's manageable.
[Furrball removes the boots from the shelf and goes over to the register to pay for his item, right behind the likes of Rapunzel and Kipper. He looks around the shop as he waits]
Furrball: Hmmm…
[We cut to Furrball exiting the shop. He looks up to see snow beginning to fall from the sky. A slight wisp of wind swirls a bit of snow around the feline]
Furrball: Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr…never was the biggest fan of winter, I mean, I hardly had any shelter from it…well, whenever I wasn't switching homes.
[Furrball adjusts his scarf as he continues on his way till he reaches a jewelry store. A large gust of wind blows in his face so he rushes into the shop for protection]
[Once in the shop, Furrball looks around, people are looking across the various sets of gems, rings, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, lockets, and other merchandise being sold in the glass displays. Simba and Nala are examining a necklace with red beaded gems, Charlie and Vaggie are looking over two necklaces with half of a heart, Lizzie is trying on a large black bracelet, Raya is examining a silver locket, Pink Panther is trying out a set of rings on his hand, and Maleficent is donning a set of violet earrings, contrast to Grimhilde's ruby red earrings]
[Furrball comes across a set of earrings that contain emeralds in them]
Furrball: How I know Plucky would go crazy for those, always needs to have the finer things in life…
[Of course, the price tag of four hundred dollars makes the feline second-guess the idea to purchase them, but then sees other earrings ranging for higher, five hundred, six hundred, seven hundred]
Furrball: Cuh, Johnny would spend that much with no issue, especially with all those rings I've seen in his drawer.
[A thought bubble appears above Furrball as he remembers Johnny's jewelry box along with the blue skunk flexing the various rings on his hands before the screen pans back down to the feline]
Furrball: I don't think I've seen a man hold that much jewelry…then again, he does pull it off somehow.
[A modest blush appears on Furrball's face before the scene transitions to the blue cat exiting the shop, only to be met with a massive gush of wind. Furrball clenches his eyes shut as snow blows right in his face]
Furrball: PHOOEY! Yup, there's the bad luck coming up again…just need a barrage of icicles to fall on me.
[Furrball suddenly assumes a praying position]
Furrball: I didn't actually mean that, please, let me live today.
[Furrball cautiously collects his things before continuing on his journey, but as he looks up, he becomes rather anxious seeing a bunch of icicles hanging over a roof. He tries to speed-walk past the building, but ends up slipping on a patch of ice hidden under the snow. Luckily, he only lands on his bottom and nothing falls down]
Furrball: [sighs] Thank god for being merciful…
[Furrball picks himself up from the ground and tries to carry on through the falling snow. By this point, it's turned from a light flurry to heavy flakes falling from the sky]
[Furrball approaches a crack between two buildings and in the corner of his eye, boxes appears to be scattered around the alley…the blue feline pauses as the camera pans in on one of the boxes, its flaps moving about in the wind. Furrball winces as an unpleasant memory comes back to him]
Furrball: Vrrrrrrrrrrr…no. Never again…hopefully…
[The feline walks away from the alley, but an ominous note hangs over the scene as we pan back to the box before we transition to the sky showing even more snow falling]
[Cut to Furrball carrying several bags in both his hands as he tries to battle against the wind. His eyes are narrowed as a big gust of wind swirls some snow from the sidewalk]
Furrball: B-B-Bitter cold, bitter cold…
[Hong Kong Phooey is shown passing by in the opposite direction as he holds onto his hats. Furrball goes past him, but feels frozen to his toes as another gust of wind blows in his face. In the distance, he spots the logo of a cafe with an image of a steamy mug]
Furrball: Hoooooo, I need a warm drink, at least something to forget about the cold for a bit…
[Furrball walks into the cafe, but notices that there's a bit of a line in front of him; Ace Hart, Dr. Facilier, Pamela Bondani, Jinks, Maid Marian, Cream, Vanilla, Nick, and Moe are standing in front of him. Furrball looks at the clock reading half past three]
Furrball: [sighs] Okay…this is fine, I don't need to leave until five so…I'll put up with it.
[Transition to the line getting shorter and shorter as several people begin to gather behind Furrball; Augie and Doggie, Callie, Felina, Heather, Courtney, Gwen, Harry, and Helmut before he finally gets a piping hot cup of cocoa]
Furrball: YIK! [blows twice before sipping] Aaaaaah…that's better.
[As Furrball takes a seat, he looks out to the window. By this point, the snow has gotten so dense that it's hard to see]
Furrball: If I actually make it back in one piece, I'll get down on my knees and say there's a god up there.
[Transition to Furrball trudging through the blistering snow and wind. The blue feline winces as the cold beats at his face, barely able to see beyond his narrowed eyes]
Furrball: J-J-Just a little bit…f-f-further…hoooooooooo why me, just why?
[The faint lights of Elm Station can be seen in the distance. As Furrball passes up a clock, it pans up to read that it's twenty till five. Transition to the station proper as the clock is reading five minutes till five o'clock, showing the passengers taking shelter under the canopy while they wait for their respective trains. Dennis is sat at the back of Platform Two faced away while Hiro is at Platform One facing inside the station with a passenger train]
[The Flying Scotsman is seen backing down on the coaches set at Platform Four. The famous engine shivers as the wind whips around him]
Flying Scotsman: Brrrrrrrrr, to think it rarely snows like this in the British Isles…
[As the double tender engine is coupled up to the carriages, we pan over to Legosi, Louis, and Jack sitting on a bench amongst the passengers bustling to and fro along the platform]
Jack: I told you those springs would do you good. You're looking more relaxed than usual.
Legosi: Oh, come on, I don't stress out that much.
Louis: That's a bit of an understatement.
Legosi: And you're telling me you're the image of tranquility?
Louis: I could never, and quite frankly, I don't see the need to be.
Legosi: Good to hear, cuz where else am I gonna find someone so…passionate?
Jack: If you wanna talk passion, just saying, I'm sitting right here.
Louis: [sighs] Canines…
Jack: Awww, c'mon, Louis, you know you love us.
Louis: I see we're using strong words today…alright, I admit, I fancy your company.
Legosi: That's more like it…oh.
[Louis and Jack turn in the direction Legosi was looking at before the camera cuts to a frigid-looking Furrball with icicles dangling from his whiskers]
Jack: Yikes, someone got the cold brew knocked into him.
[Furrball comes to one of the benches and plops onto it, finally getting a chance to set his items down and rub his mittens together]
Furrball: [shivering] Hoooooo…I never did like the cold…
[The P.A. system rings before an announcement is made]
P.A.: Attention, passengers. Due to excess snowfall, the express out of Elm has been delayed. We will report on any further details, thank you for your patience.
[Cut to Flying Scotsman having heard the announcement]
Scotsman: Hooooo, I know Gordon won't let me hear the end of this.
[Furrball looks up at the station clock reading five exactly. He sighs and then shivers once more]
Furrball: Maybe if I close my eyes…it'll help pass the time…
[The POV shows a pair of eyes beginning to close, blink twice before the screen fades to black]
[Cut to a blizzard as the entire screen is surrounded by swirling snow]
[Cut to Furrball walking through the whistling wind, the environment is empty, at least until we cut to a shot of his legs stopping in their tracks. The camera pans around from behind the feline as a cardboard box is standing several yards away from him]
[We alternate between shots of Furrball and the box, appearing to welcome him as its flaps slowly open up. Furrball's eyes jitter nervously as the interior is dark and cold]
Furrball: Please…not again…I just wanna live a normal life…
[The box appears to close in on Furrball as he tries to back away. The wind pushes back at the feline as his feet slide on the snow]
[From within the box, a pair of red eyes glow and pierce through Furrball's soul. Cut to a shot of a sickle being thrust down before the feline's eyes suddenly shoot open at another sound]
[Cut to a shot of Flying Scotsman's whistle as he gives a 'peeeeeeep' on it. Cut back to Furrball]
Furrball: Ah, right, we're leaving…
[Without another word, Furrball picks himself up from the bench, grabs his things and proceeds towards the train. He looks up at the clock, reading six exactly]
Furrball: [sighs] Thank God I didn't nod off too long…still, that box…
[Furrball still feels uneasy as he enters the fourth coach on the train, settling into his compartment with a heavy sigh. Cut to the Flying Scotsman giving two toots on his whistle]
Flying Scotsman: And we're off! Come on, come on, come on!
Coaches: Don't rush, don't rush, don't rush.
[Angle: Shot of the Express leaving the station and into the blizzard as we cut to inside the compartment Furrball is in]
[The blue feline leans against the window as the snowy landscape rushes by. Well, what can be made out from it anyways]
Furrball: Well, at least things haven't gone terribly wrong as per usual.
[Cut to Mavis waiting at a signal before the Flying Scotsman rushes past, giving a hoot on her horn before it cuts back to Furrball looking out the window, spotting the lights from the Evergreen Forest via the decorated tall pine from Carol of the Wolf]
[Transition to Evergreen Station as Gordon is shown waiting at Platform One while Thomas is standing next to him at Platform Two with Annie and Clarabel in tow. Samson passes by on Platform Five with a train for the military, Bradford at the back, while Toby pulls into Platform Three with Henrietta and Hannah. Percy is waiting at Platform Four with the post train while Coco, Photo Finish, Hoity Toity, Big Macintosh, Wolfrun, Carmen, Ivy, Zack, Fang, Bean, Bark, Anastasia, Odette, Dorothy, Judy, Diane, and Barbie roam around the station before a distant whistle can be heard. Gordon raises a brow and then casts a half-lidded grin as Flying Scotsman appears from the blizzard and pulls into the station]
Gordon: Cutting it close, aren't we, Scotsman?
Flying Scotsman: Well, I didn't break a speed record for nothing, little brother.
Gordon: I'm older than you.
Flying Scotsman: I'm the one with two tenders.
[Gordon rolls his eyes, but still manages to smile regardless as the train comes to a stop. As the passengers disembark, we cut to Furrball in particular as he steps off the carriage. He looks around and manages to spot Calamity. The coyote approaches the blue cat]
Calamity: Well, it's about time you turned up.
Furrball: Sorry, there was a…delay back at Elm.
Calamity: My, my, your arms must be tired from carrying all those items.
Furrball: They're gifts, I wanted to make sure I got enough for everyone…though I thought the others would be here.
Calamity: Oh, I'm sure you'll see them soon enough. Don't suppose you could clue me in on my gift.
Furrball: If I told you, then it wouldn't be a surprise.
Calamity: Hmmmhmm, alright, have it your way. Let me take some of those off you.
[Calamity takes several of the bags into his own paws, causing Furrball to sigh with relief]
Furrball: Thank you.
[Transition to the duo walking along the snowy sidewalk. Furrball looks over at Calamity]
Furrball: You know, it's ironic to think about…the fact I would even be in this position.
Calamity: How so?
Furrball: The fact I'm doing a favor and getting rewarded for it…let alone the fact I have a proper shelter over my head now, as opposed to…
[Furrball trails off as that unsettling feeling comes back to him. Calamity notices this]
Calamity: You don't have to worry about that anymore. Not if I can help it, of course.
Furrball: Hmmmm…I never knew you to be so noble.
Calamity: Well, I'm not exactly held back by strings anymore, now am I?
Furrball: Yeah…I suppose you're right…funny enough, neither am I.
Calamity: By the way, I have a gift of my own to show you…
[Calamity and Furrball approach the former's abode, the lights are turned off as the coyote unlocks the door and steps inside with the feline…before the lights suddenly come on, nearly causing Furrball to drop his bags as the other Tiny Toons have decked out the place for a party]
Plucky: Finally! I thought you'd turned into ice out there.
Buster: Now come on, even I wouldn't be that cold…[snickers]
Renaldo: So, the little blueberry brought gifts? How sweet of you. I trust mine was exquisite.
Johnny: So, how's about you pass on those goods to yours truly, m'kay, Muffin Top?
[Furrball sets the gifts on the table nearby with Calamity putting them down near the couch]
Calamity: Come, I wanted to show you something…
Furrball: Okay…
[Furrball is guided by the stairs by Calamity, and their departure is noted by Renaldo as he takes a sip of his drink, revealing a coy grin]
Renaldo: Someone's got plans~
[Cut to upstairs as Calamity guides Furrball to a room with a projector shining up towards the ceiling, lights of green and red. Furrball squints as he tries to make out something hanging from the ceiling before he feels a peck on his cheek]
Furrball: [blushes] Oh…
Calamity: Wanted to make sure we wouldn't be disturbed. Plus, it's less overwhelming up here…
Furrball: …Thank you.
[Furrball leans against Calamity's face before the blue cat and the gray coyote exchange a proper kiss under the mistletoe. They pull back for breath]
Furrball: To think I finally got my Christmas wish.
Calamity: You deserve it.
[Furrball and Calamity embrace one another]
[Fade on the duo with a heart symbol]
