Dee and Ryo steered their captive ahead of them, the man stumbling on tired legs. He'd led them quite a merry chase, a good three miles from where they'd parked outside his place of work. They'd only intended to take him in for questioning, unsure yet whether to consider him a suspect in a violent robbery, or merely a person of interest, but he'd rabbited the moment his foreman had told him the police were looking for him, and they'd had no choice but to give chase. Not that they'd minded.

They'd let him run, keeping close behind, until he'd worn himself out before slapping the cuffs on him and reading him his rights; now they were headed back to the car, and the prisoner, definitely a suspect now, wasn't happy at all.

"Can't we stop for a few minutes? My legs hurt!"

"Ain't gonna hurt any less for a few minutes' rest," Dee pointed out, unmoved.

"Call your cop friends then, have them pick us up. Or a taxi! Gotta be a yellow cab could use the business! I won't try to get away, I swear!"

"Why should we believe you?" Ryo said, curiosity coloring his tone. "You already tried once."

"Man, I'm too beat right now to even THINK of escapin'!" He glanced back over his shoulder. "You guys gotta be just as tired as me! I mean, I thought I was pretty fit, but…" He trailed off, shaking his head.

Dee snorted. "Tired? We were just gettin' into our stride when you quit on us. Three miles, that ain't nothin'; we run fifteen miles, two or three times a week, between five and ten miles the other days. We're in trainin' for this year's marathon. My partner here ran last year."

Their captive groaned. "I'm SO fucked."
