Chapter 14: End Of The Story

Unaware of what her daughter and her friends were up to, Stella Bevier was home now.

It had been a few days since her stepdaughter was sent away to boarding school, and the blonde woman was not exactly happy right now. Especially since her husband still hasn't returned home.

Stella had just paid her housekeeper before her giving Fifi her lunch before she went to check up on her son, who was peacefully napping right now.

However, her mind went back to her stepdaughter and how her life turned out now. Not to mention, all the horrible things she's done behind Stella's back. Stella felt gloomy as she thought about that.

"Why did things have to end up like this?..."Stella thought, feeling glum but tried to shake it off.

"No, no. Don't be like that. That school will help Colette in the long run, I am sure about it. I just...need to stay positive..."She thought as she reminded her that she did the right thing in sending Colette away.

After all, the past was the past and there was no point overthinking it. There is no need to think about crying over spilled milk, right?

As Stella tried to keep herself busy by doing some scrapbooking (since she wasn't in any mood to go shopping or see her socialite friends right now), she glanced at some of the old pictures that she had brought home after her trip to New York. She glanced at them and soon spotted the one from when she was on her college figure skating team and how they won a local contest.

The picture brought her bittersweet memories of a young girl with aspirations and big dreams and a cold, tyrannical mother who crushed those dreams with her sharp heels like a balloon. Stella sighed as she glanced at it, haunted by a bunch of what-ifs and what-could-have-beens.

"I wonder...how different things could have been if I had the guts to ignore mo-...Beatrice...and did the things I wanted to do..."Stella mused as she imagined herself as a pro figure skater, competing all over the world and winning many competitions, living out her dreams.

Stella wondered if there was another world where she did stand up to that old bat much earlier in her youth, would her life play out much differently than it does right now? Would she still have met Johnathan? Would Star and Pierre still be born? Would she still eventually cut that old bat out of her life,? Would she be happier in that life?

She didn't know.

All she did know was that she already made her choices long ago and needed to accept that they couldn't be undone. She has to learn to accept it and move on.

Stella looked back at the photo she and Star took together, looking happy to spend time together and it caused Stella to smile. Those thoughts of another life never truly left her mind, but she didn't mind it. After all, she is happy with what she currently has with Star, and she even has Pierre too.

Plus, she still has a happy family life and has nothing to complain about...right?

Suddenly, Stella could hear crying coming from the baby monitor, which meant that Pierre had just woken up from his nap.

"Oh, don't worry, Angel. Mama is here..."Stella said as she rushed to go tend to her son, leaving behind that picture and the memories it represents.

Meanwhile

Danny and the others had gone to the Nasty Burger to grab a bite and afterward went bowling.

Once they managed to play a few games, they all took the break that they both needed, Danny and Star told the rest of the story, particularly about how they found out about Frostbite and the last time he saw Glaciar.

"Huh? So, that's how you guys found out?..."Tucker asked.

"Yeah. He wanted to let us know what he had been doing since telling us was a better idea than telling his people. Though he asked us not to go telling anyone else in the Ghost Zone..."Danny said as they left the bowling alley.

"Well, I won't tell anyone. I doubt even my Laolao and brothers would believe something like that. And they all just learned how to teleport small objects from a close distance..."Misty said, while the goth girl of the group still found the tale incredulous.

"I still can't believe it. You guys have some of the weirdest adventures when we aren't around..."Sam commented.

"Oh, don't kid yourself. You guys still have weird adventures even when we are around and you know it..."Jazz said.

"True..."Sam said as they kept walking, planning on patrolling both the docks and the zoo later.

Misty, still having time before curfew and not wanting to go home yet, decided to tag along.

"I wonder if this is how normal teenagers spend their afternoons. Hanging out with friends like this..."The sorceress mused, smiling a bit.

"I think that you forgot something in your story..." Sam said, getting their attention.

"I did?..." Danny asked in surprise since he was pretty sure that he told everything he could remember.

"Yeah, last time you and Star went out of town...before New York... Colette made a move on some other guy who unfortunately looked like you...except he had braces, freckles and brown eyes..." Tucker said.

"Yeah, did that happen again?..."Jazz asked.

"Again? Okay, you guys have got to tell me about that..."Misty said since she hated that spoiled brat as much as they did.

"Oh right. I kind of forgot about that. Anyway, yeah Colette tried complaining to me about some "imposter" she tried to kiss, apparently in front of his girlfriend and not realizing it wasn't me until she finally got a good look at his face. And even worse, she had the nerve to blame HIM for that mistake..."Danny said.

"Seriously?..."Misty asked in disbelief.

"Seriously. And it's not the first time that had happened..."Star said, sounding annoyed.

"Anyway, that poor guy's dad is the guy in charge of some kind of chain of restaurants and another of Jean-Puke's business partners..."Danny said.

"Yeah, he was pretty mad when that guy said he wouldn't be buying from him anymore and Colette got grounded for it again. Serves her right..."Star said with amusement.

Team Phantom and Misty all began to laugh at that.

"Seriously? Just how stupid is she?..."Misty asked, finding it hilarious and also surprising that someone who claims to love Danny could confuse someone else for him.

"Pretty stupid. We're talking about the same girl who still believes that no one can see just how gaudy her fashion sense is..."Star reminded.

"You'd think she'd learn after that mistake she made at the beach, huh?..."Tucker said.

"That's assuming she's actually capable of even acknowledging she was in the wrong and capable of feeling bad about it...which we all know she apparently can't..."Sam said, arms crossed and the others agreed with her.

"No kidding..."Star said.

"Yeah..."Jazz said and Misty nodded.

"Tell us something we don't know..."Danny muttered as they kept walking away from the bowling alley.

After a few minutes, they started to talking about the story of that insane ski trip and a certain tech geek spoke up again.

"You know, there's a lesson to be learned from that little adventure of yours..."Tucker couldn't help but comment.

"Let me guess...don't automatically trust what some new guy says just because they claim to know one of your friends?..."Danny said, referring to how easily he trusted Glaciar in the first place.

"Or at least make sure that they are telling the truth and aren't phonies before you do anything?..."Sam guessed.

"Don't let your jealousy of others make you all bitter and keep you from actually doing something worthwhile with your own life..."Star suggested, referring to the falling out between Frostbite and Glaciar and their resulting fates.

"Always double-check the warnings before using any kind of mystical ancient artifacts?..." Misty suggested since Glacier didn't fully understand the Chalice of Cold's full capabilities.

"No one is responsible for your past mistakes except you and you need to actually treat others with decency and NOT be a lying jerk..."Jazz said, mostly referring to her experience with Baylor.

"Well...yeah...but I was thinking about Danny probably should've just said he was busy and couldn't help..."Tucker said as his friends blinked at that.

However, he wasn't done.

"Although, I guess that probably wouldn't have worked, that Glacier guy might have told a another lie or tried to do something drastic to get you to help him. Maybe what you guys said was more accurate..."The techno geek added.

They kept walking and were still trying to figure out what to do next before patrol and curfew before Star noticed something.

"Hey, look. That's the ice rink my mom sometimes goes to practice..." Star said as she pointed at it.

"Looks like the ice rink is still intact, despite the heatwave earlier today..." Danny said.

Hearing that reminded Danny's friends of the story they heard earlier, especially the part about ice skating and they couldn't help but make comments.

"I still can't believe it. You, of all people, actually learned how to ice skate of all things..."Tucker commented.

"What's that supposed to mean?..."Danny asked.

"No offense dude, but your gym grade is no better than mine and I'm a techno geek..."Tucker said, knowing he's not exactly athletic.

"I hate to admit it, but Tucker has a point. I can kind of get Star and her mom doing that figure skating junk...but you? No offense Danny but outside of flying, you're not super coordinated..."Sam said, not believing Danny could do it.

"Some offense was taken. I'm not that clumsy..."Danny said, before accidentally tripping but Star grabbed his hand and helped him.

"You were saying..."Sam said.

"Yeah dude, sorry but I just can't envision it at all..."Tucker said, also doubting that Danny can ice skate at all.

Star and Danny frowned before they shared a look. And they both somehow knew what the other was about to suggest.

"Oh, you think so?..."Danny said competitively, giving his girlfriend a knowing look. "Then let me show you where you're wrong. I can fly on the ice, especially with a lovely partner by my side..."He said as he held Star's hand and led them to the rink.

A few moments later

Team Phantom and Misty were now at the ice-skating rink.

Danny and Star were now wearing skates and stood together in the middle of the rink, while Danny's friends and sister watched from the bleachers.

"Ready, Danny-Boo?..."Star asked, holding his hand.

"Ready, Starlight..."Danny said, actually looking forward to this.

Star and Danny soon began skating together on the rink. They were in sync as they spun around together, performing a couple of flip jumps, salchows, and spins together in a graceful manner, while also making a couple hearts with their skating.

Sam, Tucker, Misty, and Jazz all watched this. Jazz smiled, having already known about this while Tucker and Sam were utterly surprised at how coordinated and even graceful Danny was being on the ice right now.

Since Misty was still relatively new to the group, she wasn't as surprised, but the goth and the techno geek were almost speechless.

"Is this for real?..."Sam asked, blinking as they actually watched this.

"Yep, those two apparently have been still doing this sometimes. After Star convinced Danny to give ice skating another chance..."Jazz commented.

Danny and Star continued to show off their skate moves together, trying to be in sync as they kept doing ice skating moves together, and both never looked away from each other.

"Ready for the grand finale, Boo?..."Star asked.

"I am if you are, Milady..."Danny said, knowing what she was referring to.

While he didn't want to do the whole Path of the Far Frozen Warrior, there was one stunt in it that he figured they could do together.

Danny held Star before doing a very impressive spiral of simultaneous rotations and other moves. Danny even managing to lift Star over his head before they continued. Their staking routine was getting more attention, not that they noticed.

Star then jumped in the air and performed a perfect spin with grace and skill, before landing in Danny's arms.

Both stopped, and then Danny gently helped Star and she now stood proudly next to him.

"Nicely done, Boo..."Star complimented, as the ghost boy even dipped her and making her laugh.

"You too, Starlight..."Danny said, smiling at her.

Soon, they both heard applause and saw that the other skating patrons had seen what they had done and started cheering for them. The teen couple did a bow, even though both Danny and Star were feeling a mixture of bashfulness and embarrassment at the moment.

"I guess we got a little carried away..."Danny said sheepishly, while Star smiled.

"I guess so, Boo..."Star said with a giggle.

"Now I have seen everything..."Sam commented, in surprise, never expecting Danny to be almost as good of an ice skater as Star.

Star and Danny soon returned to them and started to speak with their friends.

"So, how was that? Still think I'm just coordinated at flying?..."Danny asked, thinking he already made his point.

"Okay, I'm a big enough girl to admit when I'm wrong..."Sam said while Danny looked proud of himself.

"Smooth, Little Brother. Glad to see that you haven't lost your edge..."Jazz said, giggling.

"That Glaicar was a liar and a jerk, but he was really good at ice skating. And like Star's mom once said, it really is like riding a bike...as long as you keep practicing that is..."Danny admitted.

"Too bad Casper High doesn't have an ice-skating team and its own rink. You two might have both even been varsity..."Tucker commented.

Danny ignored that remark, before turning to his girlfriend and sending her a smile. Star smiled back.

"Nice moves! You two were both amazing out there! Almost like you both have been doing it forever..." Misty said, praising both Star and Danny for how their ice skating was.

"Thanks, everyone, but I couldn't have done all that without my lovely Starlight..." Danny said, making her giggle.

"Same to you, my dashing Danny-Boo. You're humble but spectacular for a beginner..."Star said in a flirty way, as she planted a kiss on her boyfriend's cheek.

"Oh barf. I think I'm going to hurl..."Sam said, as the two lovebirds continued to act flirty with each other.

It was annoying how they could both be normal one minute and then mushy the next.

"Same here. Still, I guess it's kind of sweet..."Misty muttered, still trying to be supportive instead of annoyed like Sam.

"Just be grateful that Colette's no longer here. If she saw this, she'd probably try and buy the ice rink and ban Star or worse, make you skate with her..."Tucker said.

Danny shuddered.

"Don't say that. I've only recently learned to ice skate and I started to forget about Glaciar's insane training so that I can enjoy it. There is no way I'm gonna be bossed around by another maniac again. I already dealt with enough of that when I was being trained by that phony Glaciar..."The ghost boy said, frowning.

"Let's just be grateful that both those annoying psychos are locked away where they belong and are finally out of our hair..."Star said.

"Yeah, agreed. I'm more relieved about that than you think and even more grateful that those jerks are gone too..."Danny said, glad that he hopefully would never have to deal with either of those lying control freaks ever again.

"Good. Now, are you up for a relaxing skate across the rink, Danny-Boo?..." Star asked as she offered her hand to Danny.

"With you. Always..."Danny said, smiling.

Sam, Tucker, and even Jazz all rolled their eyes as the two lovebirds kept acting flirty with each other.

After the couple skated together for a bit, they all soon left the ice rink, ready to do some more patrol before it got dark. All the while, Danny and Star were simply enjoying each other's company, even with the others around.

However, Whenever Danny and Star thought back to how the two of them were ice skating with each other was a moment that they wished they could freeze for just a minute longer.

Even so, they knew that there always be more moments just like it before them. Moments that will last a lifetime. And they both knew that no one could get between them or destroy what they had between them.

They just knew it.
