The house was as large and seemed as luxurious as Boston's house, and was beautifully decorated with some daisies that had recently been watered; I went to my father to give me the keys to my van that resided on his key ring.
"Honey, we've just arrived" He said, giving me his classic warning look.
-Relax, I'm just want to put it in our new garage, or what? Do you prefer to put your red baby in first?-.
We both knew that answer; Dad preferred not to risk me even touching his precious boy from behind, the reason wasn't that I was bad at driving, it's just that my van was so old that sometimes it became very difficult to drive, But I haven't had any unfortunate accidents yet. He just smiled at me and threw the keys in the air.
While we were taking our things out of that mini moving truck, Jackie was getting acquainted with his new home and sniffing some flowers. I hadn't seen him like this in a long time, because lately I had been taking care of my great-grandmother and she didn't really like animals, and even less like them approaching her flowers, but according to my father, who took care of him a little more than me, he looked the same as always. I approached him to scratch his belly when he suddenly became alert, looking towards the house next door, where three girls came out. Jackie growled at the pretty blonde who stood by the door to take a selfie. After her the other two girls came out laughing, and one of them asked:
-Who wants to drive?-
to which the blonde responded:
-I Will, Moon, it's my car-.
The others looked at each other with some distrust. -"Are you sure, Yasmine?"-.
-Of course i am, Sam-.
The girl just sighed and said:
-It's okay, just don't use your phone while driving.-
But that girl Yasmine was too busy looking at herself in her front camera and contemplating how perfect she looked.
That house inside was like a slightly more modernized version of my house. It looks like someone was redecorating, but this time you can tell it was my mother's work.
Dad was also speechless.
-Wow, she really worked hard.-
Jackie started barking happily.
-I think Jackie likes this too-. He said, stroking his head.
While my father brought his television inside, I was looking for a good place to put all our photographs, like we had them in Boston; after half an hour. We put them on a beautiful table we could bring from home: old and new medals, some old photographs of my parents, my grandparents, and my great-grandparents, in color and black and white, and some in gray. Memories of when my father went in and out of the air force, some photos of Mr. Miyagi and Louisa next to a small bonsai with a tiny cutie flowers, which we bow to welcome them to our new house, as Mr. Miyagi taught me. I must say I got a little silly and sentimental in that moment a i felt bad because we needed my mother, although dad didn't want to admit it. Upstairs there were three bedrooms, one for my dad, the other for me, and I assumed the remaining one would be for Jackie, but Dad had another kind of plans for that one.
His plan was to turn it into his little man's room, since Jackie could sleep with me and I could do my things outside (some yoga or dance) so I could get out a little more, and I probably needed it. Considering all the times he fought with mom to have something like that, not to mention when we had to move in with great-grandmother to take care of her, just when this "Alpha Elite" thing started, I allowed him to do it, luckily we were both very good at negotiating. I know very well that dad needed to take his time to rest from all those idiots; I have seen him battle with them before, and I knew that some of them could be much worse than others; In exchange for that space, dad would let me listen to all the music I wanted, in that way, I was like mom, whatever it was, I did it with music, the good thing was that everyone liked my music, even Louisa, who she thought I was her friend with which I danced to some songs from my playlist or something like that when she was young, because sometimes she used to call me "Susan" it was because of her that everyone started calling me "Ann" so as not to shorten it and not upset her.
We were organizing everything during a hot afternoon, and we ended it by sitting on the front stairs, just in time to see the girls who had left the house next door, the good news is that the three of them looked fine, although a little scared, the bad thing is that the car they were traveling in had a big hit on the front and from what my dad taught me about cars, that was a rich people's car. Although it was obvious that blonde, as a driver, treated it like a toy.
I was getting hungry (after three days of eating only snacks from gas stations, who wouldn't be?) Dad said he would prepare me whatever I wanted, although I would appreciate anything solid, when a Domino's pizza truck approached, of which a young man in uniform asked through the window:
-Are you guys the Mc'Gowens?-.
-Yes-. we both said at the same time.
and the guy came out of the truck with many boxes of pizza; I was confused and surprised, but dad just smiled and went down to receive the food, when he grabbed the boxes he asked:
-No anchovies?-.
-No, sir-.
He only turned around and said:
-Dinner's ready!.
