AN: Happy Holidays, everyone, and I hope you all enjoy this chapter as my little gift.
The flash of light from his travel was hidden in the brightness of the sun; the trip only took seconds, but to him, it felt to take hours with images flashing through his mind.
Groaning, he sat up in his chair and slowly came back to himself; after a few minutes, he started to check to ensure everything was okay, then set course for Earth when all of the systems showed that they were fully functional.
A few minutes later, the ship was in orbit of Earth; he had the ship then do a slow entry maneuver so it would not cause a large plasma plumb; the course would take him to Jamaica, where Kendra should be with her watcher.
When the island came into view, he groaned as he thought about how he was going to find Kendra; her home was not mentioned in the show other than being in Jamaica.
Sighing, he set the ship to cloak and hover, hoping it hadn't been picked up on radar, then he used the communication system to hack into the local internet, which, while slow, he was able to find the town Sam Zabuto and his charge Kendra Yung lived.
Piloting the ship to the small town outside Kingston he found the address, he was just in time to see two people leave the house and drive away in an old jeep, using the scanners he zoomed in on the jeep to see a man in his thirties or forties with a dark-skinned teen with her hair in long thin braids that was done up in a ball on the back of her head.
Following them, he watched as they drove for nearly half an hour until they stopped, then went on foot to what looked like a mostly empty village. Sensors only detected one life other than Zabuto and Kendra.
Through the sensors and cameras, he watched them fight through what he guessed were the minion zombies of the necromancer, he had to look away from the view as Zabuto was knocked to the ground and torn apart by a group of zombies when he saw Kendra stumble at hearing Zabuto screaming as his arms were pulled from his body.
Jumping from his seat he ran to the back of the ship opened the hatch and dropped the fifty feet to the ground, drawing his swords as he fell, he landed causing a small crater and driving a zombie into the ground as he cut down two more with the swords, his entrance seemed to pull Kendra back to reality in time to avoid being tackled by one of the undead but unfortunately, she turned right into a stab to her heart by the necromancers ritual knife.
Grinning the necromancer turned to his alter to raise the teen relying on a protective shield to keep Marcus from interfering, too bad for him now that Kendra was down he used his sword to channel a cutting spell from the Harry Potter magic, as he swung his sword the spell left it in an arch that cut through the zombies then through the shield cutting the necromancer through his back just behind his heart and lungs, the corpse fell to the ground followed by the other corpses.
Cleaning and dismissing his swords he ran over to Kendra, who lay on the ground gasping with tears flowing from her eyes, "It ...wasn't...
...supposed to... be like this..." she gasped out as he knelt at her side and put his hand over the wound in her chest and heart.
"I know, your watcher should have given you time to get used to your new strength, I've been watching this man for days he would have waited another month to cast the spell but you being the Slayer triggered his warning wards forcing him to start early, I'm sorry but I can't help him," Marcus said as he pressed on the wound to make it look like he was trying to stop the bleeding.
Now crying more, Kendra realized she was dying, "I... don't...want to die...there are too...many things ... I can...do..wi with this... power...," she said with her heart slowing to a stop.
Marcus sadly watched as the light of life left her eyes; a tear fell from his eye and landed on her cheek; even though he was going to revive her, no one as young as she was should feel the touch of death.
He focused on repairing her heart and sealing the stab wound; this took two minutes then he sent a small shock spell to restart her heart.
Kendra gasped her eyes going wide before she passed out, as he stood he lifted her and then flew back up to the ship, he took her to the door hiding the tent which opened at his approach, "Medical alpha," he called out and watched as a room similar to the sickbay of Voyager.
The EMH, looking like Beverly Crusher, appeared, "Please state the medical emergency," she stated once she finished forming.
"She's in shock after being attacked and killed, 've healed her wounds and shocked her heart to get it beating," he said as he lay her on a bed, " do a complete check to ensure everything is fine but keep her sedated," he told the EMH before leaving to pilot the ship higher then went back to the hatch.
Waving his hand, he cast a silent summoning spell for any of Kendra's belongings from the area of the fight; the only thing that came to him was a short sword and a steak made from some very hard wood.
Sighing he waved his hand again this time it was a fireball that fell onto the alter, as the fireball fell he returned to the bridge to fly back to the home of Zabuto and Kendra, once there he broke down the door and went through the house and gathered up all of the things that looked to belong to Kendra when he found her room he had to shake his head as it didn't look like a room for a teenager but more like a soldier on deployment even though there were signs that the room had been used for years, everything went into a bag he had stored on the ship's storage closet.
He then went around the house and packed everything belonging to Zabuto in a crate he conjured, when he found what looked to be a photo album he opened it to find pictures of a couple he could see features that were similar to Kenra from the two people, the album had picture s from their teen years until they were holding a toddler of about three years then there was no toddler in the last few pictures then there was a set of death certificates for the two.
Grinding his teeth, he stuffed the album with the rest of Kendra's stuff; once he was sure he had everything packed, he went to the phone and dialed the number he found for Rupert Giles after getting through the international calling system.
"Hello?" Came the voice of Buffy's watcher.
"Yes, this is an independent hunter. I was tracking a Polgara here in Jamacia, and I came upon Sam Zabuto and potential Kendra Young; I'm sorry to inform you that they are both dead," Marcus said, changing his voice to sound like he was from Australia but fading to American.
"Oh dear," Giles said, sorrow in his voice.
"Yes, they were fighting a necromancer; what I don't understand is why isn't the current slayer under your care in California? That is what everyone in my circle has been saying"
"What, oh yes, my slayer was dead for a few minutes but was revived by CPR; she must have been gone long enough to call the next slayer," Giles replied distractedly.
"When was this?" Mrcus asked.
"Last night, she fought with a vampire known as the Master; he fed on her and left her to die by drowning in a pool of water; one of her companions found her and gave her CPR."
"Then Miss Young must have been called, but why did they go after the necromancer before she was accustomed to her new strength?"
"I have no idea; Sam is or was one of our finest Field Watchers. He should have known better than to take her into a fight this early."
"Well, there's nothing we can do for him or Miss Young. They were blown up after killing the necromancer; I just finished cleaning up Zabuto's stuff. It's ready for the council to pick up. They may find out why they went out in his journal."
"Thank you for informing me. I shall inform the council, but I must ask why you packed his belongings."
"Two reasons one is to keep the normal people from finding out about the hidden world, and the second reason is of the voodoo practitioners from getting their hands on this information, if they did it would allow them to learn our or your methods to stop them," Marcus said while isnpe ting the trunk to find runes on the lid.
"Thank you. There is a council team in Haiti. They can be there in a few hours; I do wonder why Sam didn't call them in for backup," Gile said with a sigh.
Marcus growled out, "He took an untrained teen into combat; not even my type is that stupid; I need to go that Polgara isn't going end itself," Marcus told Giles to hurry up and end the call and get to Boston to get to Diana.
"Indeed, again, thank you for informing me. Could I get your name in case the council needs your services in the future?"
"This is my last job; cancer is eating up my lungs after so many fights with vampires. The dust isn't good for the respiratory system," Marcus made up on the spot.
"Oh dear lord none of us considered that now I have another worry for my group here, vampires are our main target here," Giles said hanging up the phone in his panic to call the scoobies and have them checked not knowing that soon his fears won't matter thanks to an old friend and enemy.
Marcus hung up the phone and then left the house to return to the ship and set it on course to Boston at its highest speed without causing a sonic boom until it was over the ocean, once he was near Boston he had the ship slow down then began a search pattern to find Diana and Faith or at least use the sensors to find the body heat of someone while surrounded by cold signatures just above room temperatures,
He also used the computer to search for Diana Dormer, which took some time considering the population, but with the higher level of tech, it was still only a minute later he found her address after inputting that she was a British immigrant.
After a few minutes, he found the address but the sensors did not show any life signs, he continued the search until the ship came upon a factory that looked abandoned on the outside but had a couple of heat signatures surrounded by colder but moving signatures, he watched as the two warm signatures slowly took down the colder ones until one of the cold signatures got behind one then there was a brief blum of heat that faded slowly then suddenly the other heat signature seemed to gain speed as most of the cold ones were knocked away or went completely cold as two of the cold ran out of the factory.
He watched as the moving heat signature approached the fallen one and stood near it for a few moments forcing him to watch as the fallen one slowly grew colder until the hottest body seemed to jump and flee the area as new cold bodies entered the building, switching to a live view of the building in time to watch Faith run away tears staining her face.
"Well let's go save her," he said to himself then landed the ship on the roof and near a hole in it, jumping down through the hole he guided his landing to be near the dying watcher just as a group of vampires neared them, drawing his swords caused them to halt for a second which was their undoing as he sped around dusting them.
Returning to Diana, he saw that she was still breathing but unconscious, and her breathing was labored, he rolled her over to inspect her back to find a stab wound that looked to be from a wide but narrow weapon.
Casting a wound-cleansing spell to clear out the wound then healed it, which took nearly five minutes as he took it slowly, all the while Diana stayed unconscious, once he was sure she was healed he lifted her and flew up through the hole and took her to the tent and lay her on another bed telling the EMH to keep her unconscious while going to the bridge to take the ship back into space to set course for the return trip.
Once the ship came out of the time sling, he stumbled back to the room with the tent to check on the two and was glad that they were still on the beds as well as unconscious; the EMH approached him after doing some scans.
"They are both completely healthy," she said while looking him over then scanned him with her tri-quarter, "You should not attempt to travel time with this method again you are saturated with chroniton particles which need to be shaded or it will cause any other attempts to do it to be thrown off possibly send you off course."
"I don't plan on it this was just an emergency order given to save them," he told the EMH, "Keep them out for now, I'll need to come up with what we are going to tell them," he finished before leaving the tent and opening a portal in front of the ship and piloting it through to the island, landing it he left the ship and flew up to the house where he found Hermione and Harriet in the dining room eating stir-fried chicken or pork noticing two extra places set and remembered that he asked Hermione to set them for Kendra and Diana, sighing he turned around and went back to the ship.
"Can they be woken?"
"Yes, I am only keeping them asleep on your orders. Would you like me to wake them?"
"Yeah give them something that will wake them in about five minutes so I can get them to the house," he told the EMH while deciding on telling them what he came up with on how they are alive when they should be dead.
Once the EMH administered a slow-acting medicine to wake the two then, he lifted them onto his shoulders and flew them to the house, where he lay them on the couches to wait for them to wake up.
Returning to the dining room and taking his place, finding his plate had less food on it than it had the first time he came in; picking up his fork, he began eating, giving Harriet a pout as she giggled.
"I told you I wouldn't stop her from taking your food," Hermione told him as she laughed.
"I wasn't gone all that long," he said around the fork.
In the living room, Diana woke slowly her head was foggy as her mind slowly came to full awareness, reaching around to her back where she knew she had taken a claw that went through a lung, but all she found was her flesh, when a groan from near her she turned to find a young girl for a moment she hoped was Faith but found a young dark skinned girl with a hole in her shirt that was ringed with blood that trailed down her chest.
The pain in her heart at thinking of Faith possibly being dead cut through her as she watched the girl, who was around the same age as Faith, quickly regain herself; she jumped to her feet and then grasped at her chest where the hole was, and tears welled up in her eyes.
When Dana went to comfort her the girl quickly took a guarded pose, "Who are you?" the girl asked in a heavy Jamaican accent.
"Diana Dormer," she answered then asked, "And you are?"
"Kendra Young, I am the vampire slayer," the teen answered confusing Diana.
"But the vampire slay is Faith Lahane," Diana said her confusion heavy in her voice.
Kendra relaxed her posture, and then her head fell, "I was just called today; I and my watcher went to face a necromancer. He stabbed me in the heart. I remember seeing a man crouching over me with sadness in his eyes before everything went dark."
Diana was even more confused, "But Faith was called today. We were attacked and captured by a master vampire and its minions. The last thing I remember was Faith crying over me before everything went dark myself."
"You both died due to your wounds," a male voice said from behind the couch.
Both turned to see a man dressed in armor standing there watching the two, sympathy in his eyes.
"So we are in the afterlife?" Diana asked.
"I saw you before I died," Kendra stated realizing he was the man she had seen.
No, this isn't the afterlife. Come get dinner, and I'll explain," he told them while gesturing as he turned to the dining room.
Slowly relaxing, the two entered the dining room. The smell of food caused their stomachs to growl, and the two sat quickly, picking up the forks and digging into the food.
"First off you both died within hours of each other, you," he pointed to Kendra, "took a ritual dagger to the heart the necromancer was preparing to raise you as a minion to use your slayer strength," he then pointed to Diana, "you were gouged in the back by a vampire claw while your Slayer fought off Kakistos, she had to run when Trick send some fledges after her which I killed before taking you from the scene."
Both looked at him in shock, "If we died how are we not in the afterlife?" Diana asked.
"Janus asked me to help you, so I tracked you both down and used a spell to sacrifice a hundred years of my life to heal your bodies and return you to life," Marcus told them going with the story he had told Hermione and Harriet before the two started to come around.
Both dropped their forks, "A hundred ye...years?"
"That is dangerous magic; sacrificial magic is dark," Diana said, readying herself for the downside to what he would want after he helped them.
Marcus shook his head, then gestured to himself, Hermione, and Harriet, "We are of Asgard trained by Freya except the pipsqueak; our magic is different from what you people from Earth; your magic users draw in the energy while we produce it naturally."
"Wh...why did you save us?" Kendra asked.
"Janus, a god from the Roman pantheon, asked me to save you because you died too young," he told Kendra, then looked to Diana," And you, he asked me to save to be the mother figure of Faith to save her from a dark and painful future," he told the two.
Kendra seemed to fall into herself while Diana went into panicking mother mode, "Eat, you need it. I did heal you, but the process taxed your bodies," Marcus told them, which both did, though stiffly, not seeming to taste the food.
When they finished eating two full plates of food, they moved to the living room where Diana came to herself, being older and used to the strange happenings of the world, " What do you know of Faith's future?"
Marcus shook his head, "Not much other than she is in Sunnydale with Rupert Giles, after you died she ran remembering your stories of Slayer Buffy summers and living longer than most Slayers she went to him hoping to have support, right now she has that support but she also found another Slayer well a previous slayer in the town keeping the vampire and demon population low."
"Previous Slayer?" Diana asked, looking at Kendra.
"No, not her. She was activated and killed less than a day later because Sam Zabuto rushed against a necromancer whom his rushing ahead forced to activate his spell a year earlier; while that would have been fine, he took an untrained Slayer into combat before she was ready," Marcus answered.
"I am not untrained, I have been training from childhood to fight vampires," Kendra protested.
"Yes you are trained to fight stupid creatures whose combat skills are just above brawling, but your watcher took you directly into combat with a magic user who can and did raise copawera experts plus you were not used to the strength so you either hit too hard or not to hard enough," Marcus told the girl gently.
That mollified the girl but confused Diana, "Wait, if she was called, how is the Slayer before her still active?"
"CPR, she was drowned by Heinrich Nest also known as the Master after feeding on her just enough for a mouthful of blood then knocked her out and dropped her into a pool of water where she drowned, then one of her friends revived her but she was gone long enough for Kendra to be called" Hermione answered this time while switching on the TV and turning down the volume to distract Harriet.
Diana nodded, "That explains Kendra being called fighting and Faith being called but that doesn't explain what you are getting out of this."
"We're not getting anything out of this, when a god asks for something you do it and hope they don't screw you over, luckily Janus is a moderately kind god with the ability to see possibilities, he did not like the future he saw for Faith and he didn't like that Kendra was killed before she could actually live, had Zabuto not rushed off to fight she would have been able to learn to be a teen and make friends, although she would have only lived another year she would have spent most of that time away from him and with Buffy, also it would have given you the time to prepare Faith more, Janus didn't like that," Marcus told them while taking a glass of tea from an android that brought out a service filled with drinks.
"So now what?" Diana asked.
"You sleep for the night, then I take you to Sunnydale to rejoin Faith," he told Diana, then looked at Kendra, "and you get to choose to join them, or I can take you almost anywhere you want."
"Almost anywhere?"
"Yeah you are considered dead in Jamacia, the authorities found Zabuto's body and enough pieces to assume you died with him, and it was on record that you were his ward while Diana can be put on record as a Jane Doe who was in a coma for the last two or three months," he told them.
"Months?" the two exclaimed.
"Janus has a minor domain in time, our home is outside reality while I can't control when I can go to I can control mostly where in reality I open a portal to, Janus allowed me passage to the past to get you two to bring here to heal but once I got you to both back here that was over it is now just about a week after Halloween."
After that, the two woodenly followed an android to rooms where they could sleep, where they slept for nearly twenty-four hours.
While they slept, Marcus opened a portal outside Sunnydale and used the computer of the ship to falsify some records for Diana being labeled as a Jane Doe who was in a coma only to be released a couple of days ago who against doctors' recommendation left the hospital and disappeared.
He then moved the portal to the library and found only Giles there, cleaning up after a meeting, "Ah, good, you are alone," he said, stepping through the portal and startling the man.
After getting his pulse under control Giles looked to Marcus, "Please don't do that."
"Sorry, I am used to you from the Halloween world knowing I can do this," Marcus apologized.
"Yes, well, a little warning is nice, so how can I help you?"
Marcus sat at the table across from the British man, "It's a bit complicated...," he began and told him what he told Diana and Kendra."
"Dear lord, while this is wonderful news I can't see how I would be able to help you," Giles said after getting over the shock of being told Janus had this man travel time to save the two.
Sighing, Marcus answered, "Faith watched Diana die, and what does she fight that comes back from the dead?"
"Ah yes, well, um, I see Faith would think vampire considering they had been attacked by them," Giles said, understanding, crossing his face.
"A detection spell to show that she is human and the person Faith knows, so I think setting up a containment spell and then calling Faith to witness the results."
"And Miss Young?"
"That is more complicated as the authorities believe she died in the explosion with Zabuto so I couldn't change her records, Diana being a coma patient is more believable being in Boston's most violent area it's not uncommon for people to be found, then lost as the overturn of patients is so large several are lost in it all, plus Kendra just had her world pulled out from under her feet as well as her watcher caused her death by rushing out to prove his training of her was complete not sure she will trust any watchers right now."
Giles sighed, then nodded, "Alas, the council also believes her dead as Faith being activated and is now here after we tested her; they would assume she is a demon using her form or the necromancer's magic was completed, just delayed and would send a containment and destruction team to remove her."
Marcus nodded, "And she knows the rules, so most likely is preparing herself to be put down, I do have options for her," he then stood, "Have a containment circle and detection spell ready, I'll bring Diana here after she and Kendra wake," he then stepped back through the portal then closed it.
After he left, Giles cleared a hidden section in the stacks to prepare the containment circle, leaving it incomplete; he then gathered the ingredients for the spell of detection and added the ingredients for a truth spell.
Several hours later, Giles saw the portal open, this time by the change in the light around the area it formed gave him a warning.
Marcus stepped into the room, followed by the woman and child who had been with him when destroying Belthizar; behind the three came a woman in her late thirties as well as a teen girl with dark skin with her head down, so he could not see her expression.
Marcus returned to the house after speaking with Giles; once inside, he found Hermione and Harriet watching TV with the volume still low so as to not disturb their guest.
They had watched movies only stopping to eat lunch, when a couple of hours after they had eaten, and watched the second Harry Potter movie when first Kendra joined them her eyes red and cheeks stained red from tears that she tried to hide, a few minutes later Diana joined them, Hermione ushered them into the dining room and had the cook android use the replicator to make their meals instead of cooking them and taking up time then returned to the living room to allow them to eat.
After the movie finished Marcus went to the dining room to speak with the two and found Diana was finished eating while Kendra was still eating with a stack of plates in front of her and several plates filled with food waiting for her to eat.
Kendra slowed down her eating to acknowledge his presence; Diana was finishing a cup of tea while she watched bemusedly as Kendra ate understanding that as a slayer, she needed more food, especially considering the energy burned to heal her.
Marcus sat and watched Kendra for a moment before turning to Diana, "Alright I've given you a cover of being in a coma, and have also spoken to Giles he will need you to stand in a containment circle as he uses a detection spell on you to prove to Faith you are yourself," he told the woman.
Diana nodded, setting down her teacup, "That is reasonable; what about Kendra?"
Marcus sighed, "Giles and I believe that the council will overreact and send a containment team so I am offering her either a place in my home or setting her up either in the Halloween world or an Earth that while not completely safe does not have as many dangers but she can have a peaceful life if she wants."
Kendra had stopped eating when he said he would offer her a place in his home as well as giving her the option of other places to live, "Why would you offer such?"
Marcus looked at her and then held up a finger before getting up and leaving the room for a few minutes and returning; in one hand, he held a bag, and in the other, he held a very familiar book that he sat on the table near her which she snatched up and hugged to her chest.
"I cleaned out the home you shared with Zabuto and brought all of the things I could tell were yours," he pointed to the photo album, "that is all the watchers allowed you of your family, and I don't like that you only had pictures, of a life they took from you, so I want to give you a chance for a life you choose not one forced on you."
"But isn't taking me to another world forcing a life on me?" the teen asked.
Marcus nodded with a sigh, "Yes it is but only so much, once you tell me what you want to do I'll do all I can to ensure you can live any way you want, I just can not leave you with Diana or Giles because the watcher's council knows you died because Faith is now the slayer while Diana they couldn't track so the coma alibi will hold."
Diana felt deeply for this girl, she had never approved of the council taking girls from their homes unless the said girl was found to be in a bad situation, especially considering they were taught to put slaying above all else, and most never lived past a year or two while the few non-council raised slayers sometimes lived a decade or two, some even having families, smiling softly she spoke up and told Kendra her feelings over how she was raised.
"Now I want you to think over what I just said while also considering his offer to move away from all of this," Diana said after telling Kendra about how short of a life she could expect as a council slayer.
Kendra sat and listened then set aside her photo album and returned to eating while thinking over Diana's words and Marcus' offer, as well as listening to the two speak more on what was planned.
"Now while you can go back to your life everything you own was destroyed by some of the vampires after Trick took you and Faith to Kakistos I believe Faith is living off of rolling the vampires, so I plan to give you what you need to support yourselves," Marcus said while typing away on his bracer to order the replicator to create a large number of precious gems as well as having the androids gather a few hundred pounds of gold and silver and place it all in a small backpack then put it at the door.
"Where has Faith been living?" Diana demanded.
"If I'm not wrong she is staying at the Sunnydale Motolodge."
Diana looked horrified, as did Kendra as she slowed in her eating, "That place would have little to no threshold protections," Diana nearly shrieked.
"I know, and as independent as she is as well as she isn't fully trusted by the group Buffy is a part of."
"So what are you offering so I can plan around it?"
"A few hundred pounds of gold and silver and a bag of gems, and finally buying the Crawford mansion and having it fixed up while you two rent a small place until it is finished," Marcus said to the shock of the two.
"How can you do so much?"
"I have a lot of tech at my disposal from around several realities after Halloween," seeing their confused expression, he explained the night of the mask ritual.
"So this Ethan Reyane used a ritual to change people into their costumes, and after it ended, another earth split off, filled with the entire world being filled with people and creatures while our Earth returned to normal?"
"Yeah, but not everyone went back to normal, but I'll let you talk that over with Giles," he told her, then, almost as an afterthought, taped another order on the bracer.
They spoke a bit more about how things could go and how they hoped they would go; as they were finishing how Diana and Faith would work in Sunnydale as the official Watcher and Slayer, an android stepped into the dining room, placing several small red orb's on the table in front of Marcus.
Marcus pushed one of the orbs across to Diana, "This is some of the techs I was talking about; it is magi-tech; it is supposed to form a set of armor and weapons suited for each person."
"What will it do to me?"
"Other than binding with you it will also filter the mana in the atmosphere until it is neutral rather than the darker side is caused by the Hellmouth, it will also store excess mana over time, and eventually it will create new abilities but there is an upper limit to it all, so nothing over something like small scale bombs of mana."
"Why give me something like this?"
"Because you only get one redo, and your loss hurt Faith deeply. What do you think a second time would do to her?"
Diana grew a speculative look that morphed into one of horror, then pain at the realization that her death could have been what drove Faith down a dark path; being the only person she knew to give Faith any positive encouragement, it would happen when she rejoined Faith only to die again.
"Also you need to know that equipping the armor and weapons will be flashy and for a moment you could be naked so find a safe and private place to use it,"
Diana paused as she was about to pick up the orb, her fingers only inches from it; she then looked to the android as if to find how it touched the orbs without it being affected by them.
Marcus saw her looking at the android and shook his head, "They need a living being to activate them, plus you will need to come up with an oath and then speak it while wishing for it to bind to you."
Diana picked up the orb and then inspected it closely. What she found were lines of gold, and squinting painfully, she could make out a rune but just barely.
"Here," Marcus said, pushing over a jeweler's loop; holding the loop to her eye, she inspected it closer; what she found was that the lines were like circuitry, and the runes she could make out looked to be runes of protection and binding.
"Will you give one of these to Faith?"
"I can, as a matter of fact," he pushed one to Kendra, who had finished eating.
"Will I need this?" Kendra asked.
"I don't know like I said, other than staying with Diana in your homeworld, you are free to go where and do what you want," Marcus told her with a soft smile, he then stood and went to the door of the dining room, "I'll give you some privacy," he told them both then closed the door and went to sit with Hermione and Harriet.
After ten minutes and two flashes of light, the two came into the living room, Kendra was now wearing an open black cassock coat with red parts that looked to be red flames along the hem at her ankles, and blue flames around the cuffs, the black leather looking shirt had a silver cross that went from just below her neck to the top of her exposed navel, black leather pants that looked to be a very but comfortable fit held twin daggers on her hips with no visible means.
Diana now wore a red leather jacket with a half zipper that went from her reach to just below her breast under the jacket was a blue lose shirt tucked into leather jeans that matched the jacket, and in her hands were a staff and what looked to be a tombe on a chain that was attached to her shoulder of the same arm, both had shin high flat boots, and chokers around their throats where the jewel hung.
"It suits you," he told them as he stood, followed by Hermione, who slowly walked around Kendra, inspecting her garments, and then she went to look over Diana.
"Are these from those little gems you had me scan?" Hermione asked.
"Yeah, both needed weapons and armor, Diana, because she will be going to Sunnydale to join Faith, and Kendra is still undecided right now," he told her then inspected them closer.
"This makes me feel even more powerful than I felt after being called as the slayer," Kendra said as she ran her hands over her coat.
"This is amazing do the weapons represent something?"
"Yeah, they show your alignment, daggers for close combat, and the staff and book are for casting magic, but remember you will need to train with them; also, remember they have a limited A.I. that will grow over time.
Diana looked to her staff and book, "Will we need any special training?"
"Not really, if I am right the staff is your focus while the book will hold your spells if I remember right a caster from the world those jewels come from the spell were made by her while focusing on what she wanted them to do while using a made up language to keep other spell casters from countering her spell easily," Marcus told her while remembering an episode of a anime about a preteen girl who saved an alien wizard.
"Are my daggers made of silver?" Kendra asked.
"Yeah, in many worlds, silver is the weakness to more than just werewolves," Marcus answered, then took on a serious posture, "We need to get Diana to Giles soon, both because it's getting late in Sunnydale even for Buffy and Faith patrolling they hardly ever stay out past midnight, and most if not every night Giles will stay in the library while the teens are patrolling."
"What? A watcher must patrol with the slayer," Diana and Kendra protested at the same time.
Marcus sighed, "Rupert Giles was not trained as a field watcher, the leader of the council stationed him in Sunnydale to get him out of the way, his family was gaining too much power for his taste and stationed them in some of the most dangerous locations hoping they would die off," he said and watched them grow outraged.
"I need to get there now; my family needs to know Quinten Travers needs to be investigated; I hear that he is responsible for the death of the slayer before Summers," Diana said with a growl.
Marcus nodded, "The Cruciamentum, he only uses it on the non-council slayers telling the other elders that it is unnecessary for the council raised because they know the rules and whatnot."
Diana growled even more, "That is preposterous. The non-council-raised slayers have lived longer than the council-raised because they are sometimes streetwise and notice more obvious signs," Dana protested, then looked to Kendra, "No offense meant, dear."
"None was taken, Last night before sleeping I thought about how Mister Zabuto acted when I was called he was excited and wanted to prove my training, and hearing things now could he have been like Mister Giles put in a place where he was out of the way and if he gained a slayer they did not care one way or another what happened," Kendra said her voice growing softer as she spoke until it was barely above a whisper.
"It is possible," Diana told the girl giving her a side hug.
Marcus and Hermione stepped away to give them a moment, "I never put that together and what is the Cruciamentum?"
"I read some of the fanfiction, and it was mentioned in a few of them it is where they drug the slayers to dull their powers and put them against a vampire. All of them died except Buffy, who had the support of Xander and the others," Marcus told her quietly.
After a few minutes, Kendra calmed down; she had signs of tears on her cheeks when they walked over to join Marcus and Hermione; Kendra spoke, "We need to hurry. The sooner we go, the sooner they can dispose of the ones killing my sisters," she said in a determined voice.
"Yes, and my slayer is an open target for them; I will not allow them to harm her," Diana said stonily.
Marcus nodded while Hermione went to get Harriet; although she didn't protest, she had a pout as the TV was turned off, which made Mrcus smile as she was showing some signs of growing out of her shell.
